My tire pressure light suddenly came on yesterday morning as I drove north on El Mirage Road. We are new to the area, so I checked Siri for the closest full-service tire store, which turned out to be the Discount Tire Store on Bell Road in Surprise. I drove in without an appointment and even though the store was packed with customers, they were prompt and courteous in addressing my service issue. The tire in question wasn't purchased at a Discount Tire, but they found the small nail and fixed the tire. On top of the great service, they didn't charge me for the repair, which GREATLY exceeded my expectations. Thank you Discount Tire! With COVID in heat, I wasn't sure if they were accepting walk-ins. I called and spoke to Jerry and set me up with an appt. the very next day. Even though I had an appointment, I expected to wait awhile before getting my tires rotated and balanced. However, I was fortunately wrong! Again, Jerry helped me the next day and enlightened the stressful environment in the outdoor heat (due to COVID) with a few jokes and laughs. I also spoke to Jacob on the phone first so he could order all 4 of my tires together so that the tires came from the same lot. Jacob was very accommodating on the phone as well as in the store. I have been going to Discount tires for 30 years. I purchase 4 new perelli tires, after they put Michelin's very wrong tires that could have caused an accident. After 20,000 miles, my back tires were worn, the fronts tires are fine. How do back tires get worn first. That's a new one on me. So I went into the store and the same person that put the wrong tires on originally, waited on me. My tires are rated to 45,000 miles. Well he tells me that there is no warranty on ride flat perelli tires. I will never recommend anyone, all my children go there, well not anymore. Long time customer of Discount but no longer... I purchased tires for my daughters car and got the certificates. She had a problem where the tires were falling apart on the edge (this is a defect on the Goodyears that was also happening to Audi owners) They immediately blamed the car but wanted to replace the tires before having her repair the car. I told her to go over to the dealer and have it checked out first. They gave the car a clean bill of health and said the tires were defective. She went back to the store and now the story was, "Your tires were underinflated" They charged her $700 for 3 tires and refused to honor the warranty. I contacted the district manager and the "Solution" was $60 off. Basically if you are female, they WILL rip you off and they will NOT honor their warranty. read more

I spoke with Chuck in regards to a tire quote for my truck. He gave me an the quote over the phone. I came into the branch and spoke with David. Told him the tires I was looking for. He looked it up on the computer and said those the tires I had been quoted were discontinued and not available. I explained Chuck had quoted me those tires the day before. David stared at me with a blank look. I expected David to give me some alternatives to the tire I wanted and do his best to help me, he didn't. He continued to stare at me and after about 2 minutes of awkward silence, I said thanks and left. Unreasonable to think that David would then try and problem solve or find away to service me as the customer. I guess in this case it was unreasonable. I decided to purchase tires a little more expensive than I would have paid at discount at a competitor because the customer service was better. Unfortunate because I usually have had a decent experience in the past. Being in the service industry myself and with the abundance of competition out there, service is a huge separator. Went to get my tires checked as the air pressure gage was on. It was about 3 in the afternoon and I was told I could wait for about an hour and a half if I wanted to and they'd check it out. The guy was super helpful and said if I came in the morning at 7:45 they could get me in quick. So I came back the next morning. I was worried at first as there were four other people waiting outside the door. However, they got me checked in quickly. I was told 45-60 min but they had the screw out of the tire and patched up in 30 minutes. Clean store, friendly staff, and no sales pressure. I was told I should think about getting new tires as the treads were pretty bare. He gave me the list of different options and said they'd love to help when I was ready to change them out. Just got home from a 1 pm appointment to get my tires rotated. It is now 2:20. The time to rotate the tires was 2-3 mins. plus 5 mins. of administrative time for their paperwork. My wait time was approximately 50-55 minutes which is completely unacceptable when a person has an appointment. In my opinion from the time I walked up to the front desk until I drove off the lot should have been 30 minutes maximum. Like most large companies they are overbooking to maximize their productivity making the customer pay for it with the customer's lost time. Of course, then there was the head banging hard rock playing in the waiting area. Although it was probably turned up too loud to cover up the completely unnerving beep that sounded exactly every nine seconds (I timed it). Think the noise your smoke alarm makes when the battery is low, except louder. In fairness to the guy who checked me in he told me the wait could be an hour. I discounted that as under promise/over perform marketing crap. Little did I know. I scheduled an appointment on line. When I went in to the store I was immediately told I did not have an appointment. I had a reservation number, was told it didn't matter. The whole place was empty and I was told they have no availability, it was 8am. I asked multiple times to speak to a manger, I was told no. I am shocked at the lack of customer service. He did not try in any way to make this wrong right. I was told that's just how the online reservations work. I would not recommend this place. I will never take my vehicle there again. On the plus side: - this location took care of the tire that needed repair. - the rep suggested that I leave the spare (a full-size tire - not a donut) where it was and, for 'safety reasons', use the repaired tire where a badly worn was. After agreeing to the rep's suggestion, the badly worn tire was to go back in the trunk. But I would have thought that it would have been placed back properly - in the compartment with the cover placed over it. INSTEAD, they just put the worn tire into the AAA bag the flat tire was in and just threw it into the trunk! WOW, really??? Sorry, you didn't convince me to purchase two brand new tires the day of my visit but service is service! After this experience, we probably won't shop here again. read more

Had a flat tire. They refused to patch, said not safe. They didn't have a tire to match my Firestones that only had 10,000 miles on them. They didn't offer to try and find one. They offered a General Tire to go with our three Firestones. I asked if they had a set of Michelins for our toyota Rav4. They said no but could put Yokohama's on. When I said no, they suddenly found a set of Michelins. My wife drove home but the Tire Monitor light was still on. Today she went back to Discount Tires to have the problem remedied. The guy says the mechanic put the wrong Tire Monitoring system component in. Then he says...."I won't charge you for that" Real big of him!!!!!!! They didn't offer anything for the three Firestone tires they kept....or pay my wife for two trips to them and three hours of her time. These people are real idiots! Thought this was nice at the time. Even got an email confirming and a reminder email also. I arrived on the day 15 minutes early for my 10:30 AM appointment and checked in outside. He asked me to sit and someone will take care of me asap. Sat a few minutes and a guy came and asked what we can do for you. I told him I had an appointment for 10:30am for tire rotation and balance. Took my keys and that was it. At 11:15 AM I noticed my car wasn't moved and asked about it as I had a 10:30 appointment. After checking my keys were still in the bag waiting to get done. I am in a managerial role currently, and I would immediately terminate someone if I witnessed this kind of behavior in one of my employees.
