Decided to go here after the corporate 5k race instead of staying near Lake Eola. It was pretty…read morecrowded when I came, but I ordered through the kiosk. I bought 3 chicken tacos (about 12 dollars), then sat in an empty table to wait. It was ready for me in under 10 minutes. The tacos were small, but they had a good amount of chicken, cheese, onions, tomato, and cilantro. A choice of sauce was included, and I took the hot red sauce. The sauce was small, but still ample enough to pour over the three tacos. The flavors were pretty good (thanks to the heat from the sauce) and it was filling enough for me, though the flour tortillas was a bit too hard for me. The service was pretty good, though I ordered from the kiosk and I picked up my order after they called my name. However, they did check up on me, as well a provided water to cops, and removed empty items from the tables. The staff were quite friendly. The dining area was small and a bit boring. There were 2TVs showing ads for their products, and 1 displaying a horse race. The restaurant was quite cramped, and I was thankful to find a table. It's located in downtown, so parking will be either in a meter or a garage. This restaurant serves pretty good tacos at a reasonable price, but the atmosphere was a bit bland for a taqueria. It was also small and can get crowded and full easily. Best to have this to go or delivered. It's still a nice restaurant for tacos in downtown.

Thrive continues to impress after being open for many years…read more I especially love their colorful drink menu showing what goes in each cocktail. Their menu is small plates. Yes they are expensive. But the interior is beautiful, service is always outstanding, and the food has unique twists....Worth it I especially love the crisp rice bites and slider menu. Perfect stop with friends before heading out for the night. It gets too loud on a weekend night for a date but during the week it would make a great date night destination. They wouldn't be my go-to for sushi, but it's not bad either. The only small suggestion I'd love to see, is adding a rotating special cocktail to the happy hour menu. The happy hour drink list is very unimpressive given the normal drink menu

The place is beautifully decorated with greenery and modern furniture. I've been here both for brunch and dinner. The drink menu is so unique. The diagrams show you the contents of the drink in a legend kind of style and every drink I've had here is delicious. The waitstaff is attentive and the bartenders are skilled. My favorite item is the Double Play sushi entree. The chef, like the other staff, knows what hes doing back there! The food comes out hot and perfectly crispy. This is a great place for brunch/dinner with friends or as a date night.

But here's where I got a little side-eye ... $16 for just the gyro--no fries, no drink, not even a little "thank you for your coins" moment. For that price, I expected a bit more of a complete experience. I ordered through Uber Eats, and unfortunately it arrived cold, which took away from the overall vibe. And you know... a cold gyro just doesn't hit the same--it deserves to be warm, cozy, and comforting. That said, I'm not writing them off just yet. I'd actually love to try this spot in person because I feel like the experience might be completely different fresh off the grill. Final thoughts: Good flavor, generous meat, but the value and delivery experience left me wanting more. I'll give it another shot in person before making my final verdict.

It evokes another era, the 1930s and 1940s, a hidden place where people escaped reality for a few hours and where every whispered conversation felt a little more dangerous than it should. There is something about saying the name out loud that feels almost mischievous. Even before stepping inside, it conjures images of old Hollywood glamour, forbidden romance, and the kind of longing that filled classic films. The sort of place where people met not because they had to, but because they couldn't stay away. The space itself more than lives up to the promise of its name. Death in the Afternoon is one of the most visually interesting places Orlando has to offer. It feels intimate, mysterious, and wonderfully removed from the ordinary. I couldn't help but think of The Great Gatsby, not because of excess or extravagance, but because of that same sense of romance, possibility, and yearning for something just out of reach. In fact, I visited twice in the same afternoon. My first stop was simply to satisfy my curiosity and see if the reality matched the image I had built up in my head. It did. So after completing the rest of my three-hour Mills 50 walk, I found myself drawn back for a meal and a chance to enjoy the atmosphere a little longer. The menu is limited, so choose wisely. The salmon entrée was excellent and easily the standout of my meal. The Caesar salad was pleasant enough, but the salmon is what I would come back for. As a perfect ending to the day, a dear longtime Yelp colleague joined me and we spent some time catching up on the latest news and gossip in our circles. Good conversation, a memorable meal, and an atmosphere that feels like it belongs to another time. Death in the Afternoon is not just a restaurant. It's the kind of place that stays on your mind long after you've left. Make sure your stay is not over 2 hours tho ..
