We had another wonderful take out meal from Distasio's! The restaurant has always been one of our local favorites, but now it is on regular rotation for takeout. Their food really holds up for carry out, and they packaged it so well it still tastes delicious at home. I highly recommend Marco's Summer Chicken Delight and also the Cannelloni. What an amazing meal we had ! We sat on the patio as we had our little dog with us. Our server brought out a bowl of water for her. The owner came out and chatted with us for a few minutes. He grew up in North End of Boston, where some of the best Italian food can be found! I had the linguine with clams and white sauce(butter, garlic and Parmesan). Cannoli for dessert. We found this cozy place in Morro Bay when we were staying for one night. From the time we walked in until we left we felt like we were home. The staff are very friendly and professional. Angel was our server and he did an amazing job. We ordered salads which were very fresh. The ranch dressing was so good. We ordered the Lasagna with meat meat, perfect! The sauce is so delicious! We also order the special pizza, yummy! Before our meal we ordered cheese bread and calamari. The bread was really good the calamari rings were ok. They have a nice selection of beer and wine and dessert. Unfortunately, we were too full to try the desert but we will be back. Overall it was a great experience, food and service were top-notch. And one of the nice things about this restaurant is when you walk in there is a circular fireplace that adds to the ambience. I highly recommend this restaurant. They also have a very nice patio. We had four BMW riders in our group and went in on the early side, no reservation. Had a nice roomy booth and were quickly plied with various drink, along with bread and butter. I had the stuffed Cannelloni and asked for one with the "100+ year old family recipe" red sauce, and the other with white sauce. Now, I live two hundred miles away and can't wait to go back! The red sauce was fantastic, and the white a creamy treat with the fresh Parmesan the waitress freshly ground for me. One friend had the salmon, cooked to perfection, and another the Chicken Marsala, which was claimed to be the best he ever had. When I return, perhaps I will have both Cannelloni and Chicken Marsala... Ken the owner checked in on our table and we were well taken care of by all. This place used to be my mom and dads favorite place when we would visit from out of town. The last time we came in it was not a great experience. My medium filet was cooked well done and when they brought the second one it wasn't even that great. The service was very slow and it wasn't even busy. Everything seemed off that visit. The first thing I noticed when I walked into this restaurant is the nice view from the dining area. We had a perfect view of 'Morro Rock' with the sunset in the distance. Visiting Morro Bay spoiled me in the sense that everyone in this city is very friendly. We were always greeted, with a smile every where we went. Our waitresses and waiters were always very polite. I believe that set the standard for everywhere else, which is why I gave this place a 3 stars (aside from the shrimp scampi being ehhhh) the staff was just average. We were on A motorcycle ride and staying in town.. Decided to give this place a try. The place was full when we arrived ,but after a 2 min wait we were seated. The menu was great and the had a few good specials going on.. Staff was young and very friendly. My buddy ordered the Ribeye steak and was very impressed. I went with the Lasagna and Fettuccine alfredo w/ chicken special. The white sauce was one of the best I have ever had. The wait time on food was a little long but well worth the wait. Prices were very reasonable. My only suggestion would be to maybe offer a dinner salad with the dinner. I flagged down the owner and spoke with him for a moment or two. Very nice man. I had calamari, salad, chicken Parm, and they're famous spaghetti and meatballs. I could not tell a difference between the chicken and the calamari. They were both as chewy as bubblegum. The sauce tastes, very generic, and both pastas came not done. And they messed up the salad. I don't know how but it taste like a refrigerator and had no flavor, the service there was OK but when I gave her a tip, she looked at me and asked what is this like it was not good enough for her. The ambience was a little boring and had LED lights dangling from the wall. They had a nice fireplace. Other than that I cannot say I recommend this place. read more

First time here and the food was excellent. My family and I ordered the clam chowder, an order of mozzarella sticks, cheese stuffed raviolis, and a lasagna all which didn't disappoint. The owner even came by to personally greet us and make sure all the food was up to standard. The only thing We didn't like was the rude lady in a blue dress that sat at the table next to us. I wish I could give this restaurant a better review, but my naked capellini dish was completely bland, and the bread was just awful. I arrived one hour before closing on a Sunday night. We were in Morro Bay for Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed this beautiful beach town as we have on many occasions before. On Saturday evening we decided to have Italian for dinner. We went to "DiStasio's on the Bay", (which has moved) and the service was mediocre at best. I asked to be seated at a high top table in the front near the windows and was told those are for the bar area and not dinner seating. The bar was closed and within 1o minutes after we were seated in a very noisy area, we noticed another couple was seated at one of the high top tables even though there was several more available tables in the "dining are". I should have known immediately that things were not going to go well. We took this in stride and settled in for what we hoped would be an amazing meal. We ordered Meat Ravioli and also the Capellini Alla Checca. Both dishes were served luke warm at best and both were more like soup. I've never had "soupy" Capellini Alla Checca - it was just odd. We weren't asked if we wanted grated cheese or anything else. Never have I had such a disappointing Italian meal. Both pasta dishes were not very flavorful which is hard to accomplish in an Italian restaurant. The garlic bread besides being cold had very little flavor as well and tasted as though the bread that was used was stale. This was the most unappetizing $70.00 meal I have ever paid for. To top off the poor food quality and bad service, we didn't even get an iced tea refill (we asked twice) to help swallow down the terrible meal. Needless-to-say, we did not finish our food and will never return to this restaurant when in Morro Bay. We expected better and were both very disappointed. read more

Great place for dinner.! Nice, but causal and a fantastic view of the bay/morro rock. The Frank Sinatra music was a plus too. It was kid friendly and they loved the food, but they could use a kids activity/coloring to keep them busy while you wait. We stayed at the Comfort Inn which was nice and perfect walking distances to the restaurant. A few hotel/motel were close enough to walk. Food was excellent and a pretty good wine list. Great restaurant! Was seated promptly and the staff was just perfect, super friendly but not over bearing. I had the halibut with asparagus and roasted veggies and it was perfect and tasty, no seasoning needed. When I was done the owner brought me my bill and asked if everything was OK. I told him it was great. When he brought my credit card back he thanked me for coming in. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be very pleased with their meals. More restaurants could learn from this one on how to treat people. BTW awesome view! read more

My girlfriend and I had an amazing dinner date at this fun establishment. We were instantly impressed by how nice our waiter was! We started off with drinks, my girlfriend got the Lemonade (3/10) and I got the cherry cream soda (9/10). The cherry cream soda was so unique, creamy, and just such a fun over all drink! Then we started off our dinner with some delicious mozzarella sticks, they were super creamy, super fresh and super well cooked, served with their famous homemade marinara sauce, we both enjoyed our starter(8.5/10). Then it was time for our main meal! The cannoli stuffed with ground beff, and drizzled with their amazing marinara sauce all over it. With a side of sausage(7.5/10)! This cannoli was absolutely amazing, the texture of the pasta was a little different but it went perfectly with the yummy beef and cheese combination! It was a perfect plate for sharing. The beef was the main show of this dish, it definitely hit the spot(8/10). Then it was time for our dessert. The whole reason we came into this fine establishment, spumoni ice cream cake! From two Italian couples: this is the worst Italian food we have ever been served in a restaurant, coffee shop, diner, you name it! The eggplant parmesan was a thin, greasy, puff. The manicotti was a crisp disaster, and even the spaghetti and meat ball was awful. Don't go here!!!! read more

This was a great find in Morro Bay. They have outdoor seating, take reservations, warm patio heaters, great staff, an engaging owner, and maybe the best Italian food I've had in forever. Huge gluten free and vegetarian menu as well. If they were on the water, you'd never get in. It's that good. We decided to try Distasio's last night and we were pleasantly surprised. The interior was warmed by a fire and decor is comfortable and classy. We went for outdoor dining but there was no seating for our party of 6. So we opted to order takeout. We were told 45 minute wait so went for a walk. Picked up our order which looked very small for 6 people, but they weren't using the bulky styrofoam containers. Home to Cayucos. Opened it and missing one meal. They sent bread for 2 people at most. Very disappointed for those 2 reasons. Called and was told that we weren't charged for the dinner. Must have not made it to the register. So we shared our food. Food was very good. Had lasagna, eggplant & chicken parm, cannoli, and Alfredo pasta. Good but we really could have enjoyed a larger bread portion. So maybe when they are able to have indoor seating we'll try again. read more

As an out of towner, every time family and I would come to Morro Bay, we would come to this restaurant for dinner. The food was amazing as was the service...that was until our last visit this past summer. Our server was the main reason our visit was so terrible. Her name was Dawn. She introduced herself then as she started to ask us what we wanted, she interrupted me in the middle of my order to "go say hi to some friends... " in her words. She didn't come back for about 20 minutes and once she did, she proceeded to ask us what we all wanted for drinks and appetizers. I began and before I even got through my first sentence, she snatched the menu out of my hand and started to ask my daughter what she wanted. I asked her if I could have my menu back, as I was not done ordering and she set it in front of me instead of handing it back to me. She turned to my 7 year old daughter, who said "Hi" to her, very friendly-like, and the waitress ignored her , no smile, nothing. Once she took our drink orders, she came back 20 minutes later and actually asked ME to hand the drinks out to my family, as if she was too good to do it. Thennnn, when I asked her about making my food a bit more spicy (which I do every time I go, with no problems) she proceeded to tell me they "...don't serve Tobasco and this isn't that kind of restaraunt, " while rolling her eyes. I never asked for Tabasco. I had enough at that point and asked a passing waitress to please give me a new waitress as I felt some kind of (I think racial) undertones with her attitude. The rest of the night everyone else was really nice and accomodating but the fact that the manager said hello to us but never asked us about what happened really left a bad taste in my mouth. So thank you, Dawn. You've helped this restauraunt lose loyal customers. We have not and will never return thanks to this terrible experience. Oh and the food was just OK this time. read more
