This place deserves no stars due to their questionable practices. RSVPed for New Years Eve party and arrived over and hour and a half early but still didn't make it anywhere near the door before the overpriced cover kicked in. I understand having people sign up for a free entrance before a certain time and then having the line move slowly is a business tactic, but this place pushed it too far and it felt like a SCAM. Judging by the line, some people in front of us waited in the cold for 2 HOURS but still were not able to get in with their RSVP as promised. One of our groupmembers nearly fainted from the cold. I also heard the doorman talking about people slipping him money to let them in. Usually I have no problem with that but the line was barely moving and easily over 500 people were bamboozled into waiting in a barely moving line for several hours on NEW YEARS EVE. Telling people to 'make sure to arrive early' in order to get in is no excuse when arriving several hours early was not enough to take advantage of their advertised free entry. Take your money to other businesses that respect your time and don't engage in unscrupulous marketing practices. District 30 shame on you. read more

I usually don't go to district 30 but last night I went to go see and edm DJ, Crankdat. I enjoyed the venue for what it was. It's small with some tables (majority have to pay for), a large bar and a dance floor next to the DJ. I really appreciated the that the dance floor is right next to the Dj stand you can definitely get close and personal with them. Why I gave two star: So tickets were free to go see Crankdat, however I don't agree that the bar ethics of lying to customers to make up revenue for having a free Dj. Some background, I work in the industry so I know what a "shot" is and I definitely know when a "fellow" bartender is under pouring. Anyways me and my boy order two shots of ciroc. And the brunette bartender pulls out 2 ONE oz glasses. To top it off she doesn't even fill the shots to the top. Before I take it I ask her "aren't shots 1.5 oz and not 1 oz?" She then became offended that I questioned her and tried to explain to me that I was wrong and that a shot mean 1oz. She could have easily explained that that's the establishment's policy but to argue with me is unacceptable. Customer service really needs some work. Also the security guards need to get off their high horses and respect the customers. I had one security guard with gauges grab my arm and push me aside as he was trying to get through while in the dance floor. I looked at him like "are you serious?" Again customer service. If you're single and looking to mingle, this may not be your best option. There's a ton more thirsty guys than there are girls. I was with a group of 4 girls and another guy and myself, so you can imagine the packs of guys trying to dance with my girl friends. This used to be a mostly electronic club but last night was definitely R&B which I'm not sure is their new vibe. They played some good stuff. However, they changed up the layout and now have a platform that people can purchase with couches which is literally right next to the dance floor. This allows creepy dudes to just stand there and stare at the floor all night, also making the dance floor more crowded. I used to love how much room they had on the dance floor. $10 cover on a Saturday night was normal and expect to pay about $8 for a well drink. I'll go back but I'm a lot less likely to now. read more

I have been to this place quite a few times and have enjoyed myself every time. They have a really nice bartender there too. HOWEVER This last Wednesday 12/12/12 we RSVP'd to an event there and drove over an hour to get there and waited over an hour to get in (in heels in 38* weather) and when we finally got to the front, the bouncer, Ruben I think his name was, denied one of the girls getting in. When she asked why, he said, "you know why". Well come to find out, "Ruben" had been texting her 2 weeks before trying to get into her pants and she didn't reply because he has a GF, so now he was on a power trip. He said the rest of us could go but not her, as if we were going to leave her outside. I called the manager and told him what happened and he said he was going to have to uphold Ruben's decision, even though she had the text messages to prove her story. This is how they treat loyal customers who have spent thousands of dollars there? AS A BUSINESS OWNER, I have never let my personal feelings towards someone dictate my professional relationship with them. This was absurd and the fact that they didn't even take into consideration the trouble we took to get there, was worse. I will NEVER again in my life give any business to this place and if the owner has any common sense, s/he will strongly consider the type of people he puts in charge. Also, since everyone there that night had RSVP'd technically everyone was "on the list". The line was due to what Ruben says was "we are at max capacity, so it's one out, one in". Yet no one came out and quite a few hoochies were allowed in after rubbing up on him, a group of about 6. Nevermind the people that waited in line for seriously over an hour. Thought I'd take my sister out for her 30th bday here. My wife, brother and his wife came as well and my sister boyfriend. This was my fist and last time coming here. Walked up at 10:30, there was no line. The door man looks at me, I'm 1st in line, he says"you cant come in with boots" I pull up the leg of my pants "they are not boots" I say. "ooh those are Doc's?" "yes" "well your wearing cargo pants" "no they are slacks" "they are kind of baggy too" "I'm sorry I'm not a very skinny man" "well I'll make and exception for you this time" I get in the club and see guys wearing T shirts, flip flops and baggy grungy cargo shorts! But they have lighter skin than I of course. Geez I'm 39 years old dressed up in slacks and a collar dress shirt and your sweating me because I'm tan naturally. How sad is that, ooh and my last name is Greenwood but I guess that's 1/2 too little for you. Inside they were friendly, busy but the bartender was very friendly.They even gave the women I was with free chapagne for ladies night. It's a shame the door people and management are discrimenant. I could see if I was dressed down or thugish, but I was dressed up better than half the men in the club. If they want to make their club seem fancy and trouble free then maybe they should keep all people out that look like they stepped out the gym unless they truely do want to keep it exclusive in a cacasion sort of way. There are a lot of reasons why I shouldn't like District 30. It's easily prone to all the elements of the club scene that I am personally no a fan of: expensive drinks, unrecognizable tunes and numerous girls in identical tube skirts. Coming here for the first time on a Thursday night, I through a lot of those preconceived notions out the window. The music came bumping out of one of the most fantastic sound systems I've ever heard. The drinks weren't as outrageous as I assumed they would be and certain selections were half off because of Yelp Drinks. The tube skirt automatons were still there, but overall it lacked the elitist vibe you find at some high scale clubs. I still can't say whether I'd enjoy it if I came during peak hours on a Saturday night, but for my evening out with friends it turned into quite the fun hangout. read more

District 30 was WELL WORTH the wait tonight. Doors opened at 9ish, two hours after the VIP started at 7. Before the debut of this dance club, M!X Downtown was supposedly THE scene... District 30 was everything M!X promised to be -- and literally deliver it on a silver tray with dark chocolate truffles. I could do without the neon harlequins and the semi-nostalgic B&W visuals on the flatscreens. In a relatively small corner, the real show belonged to the man on the decks (yes, he even brought vinyl) and the sound system. Mr. & Mrs. K. invited a SF Bay Area resident DJ to spin the VIP party. (DYK even some in-house security detail double as DJs. *sigh* Good help is hard to find these days!) Guests weren't disappointed. I particularly enjoyed the MJ mash up with NIN. Like Dive Bar, this space is deep and narrow. Booths are spacious and thoughtfully dispersed. I simply had to TOUCH the wall... what I thought were twisted strips of satin turned out to be an intriguing ripple, ridge in the concrete. (Please tell me this helps with acoustics.) Insider tip: World-class DJs will grace Thurday nights before Friday and Saturday appointments at Ruby Skye in San Francisco. Steve Aoki 1/13 is already SOLD OUT. Long and narrow like its neighbor Dive Bar next door, District 30 has an interesting layout but is fairly small for a club. Walk in, squeeze past the bar and grab some drinks, then make your way to the light at the end of the tunnel - the dance floor! Not a very large dance floor, mind you, but it does its job. While you're waiting for it to fill up, though, there's a nice ledge along the dance floor for sipping your drink, people-watching, and sending out those last-minute Snapchats. But first - let's rewind: We came close to 11 on a Friday; by then they had already started charging $10 cover. BUT we ended up getting in free possibly because: a) we had a good ratio (unlike the guys just standing awkwardly around outside...) and b) it was still prettyyy dead inside. Wallflowers galore! Thankfully, within another hour or so, it started to pick up and the dance floor became considerably full and alive. Music started off with that nice I-can-get-down-to-this hip-hop at the beginning of the night, then later transitioned into how-do-I-dance-to-this EDM by the second half of the night. As things were winding down and the dance floor was literally getting emptier and emptier, my friends thought to request hip-hop for one last jam...aaaand the DJ flat-out refused. RIP dance floor. Not sure if their drinks were a tad on the weak side or what, but I had 2 AMFs and 1 Long Island and was NOT buzzed until the very end of the night...which even then was pretty light. I did indeed eat a decent amount beforehand (I'm a Yelper) but usually a combo like that would've hit me MUCH faster. Might be more worth your time and money to pregame a little before coming here. One of the saving graces of this place is definitely the location - smack dab in the middle of K street amongst other bars and nightlife, easy to hop on over sooner or later. We came here with a group of friends to celebrate! The venue was happening! There was a positive energy and vibe throughout. The place was packed and the floor was moving. The drinks were tough to get to with a crowded bar. Also wish there was a better place to sit for rest... No tables throughout. But let's be clear ~ this place isn't for conversation... It's all about dancing! The sound system was amazing!!! Pounding bass, crystal clear treble and mid range with a DJ that kept the energy and pace up. No house music on this Friday night, just fresh jams from the Top 40. This is the place for dancing for ages 25-35. I used to have a lot of fun here, but last night I had the worst experience I've ever had with a club bouncer. I just recently had a lung transplant. Last night I came out for the first time since then, to have some fun after months of recovery. Well some of my medication makes me nauseous, so when I was feeling sick, I left the club, and threw up (just water) in a dirt planter a little ways down the street. I wasn't even on their property anymore. The bouncer then yelled over that I was gross. When my friend and I explained what was going on, that I had zero alcohol, and it was a medication reaction from a life saving double lung transplant, he said he didn't care and called me disgusting. I will never go back to this place, if this is the kind of behavior they allow from their bouncers. read more

Not bad! Yes same pretentious younger crowd as The Park. The space is not that big and really nowhere to sit. The huge VIP spot is a waste because the club is so small. The space can be utilized better with some table and chairs for people that don't want a VIP booth. Now the bouncers were cool. The bartenders were on the job and were not rude to me. (Hey! I am Paul J everyone is nice to me all the time-sometimes) The DJ is why this place gets the NOD. I LOVE house music and the DJ spun house music all night long... so my friends and I stayed on the dance floor all night long until they kicked us out. Isn't that what a dance club should be about? Woahhh! I needed a day to recover from my adventure here before I could write my review! I usually don't like the whole club scene with overpriced drinks and the non personal outing it forces on you due to the challenge of hearing or communicating with friends. Well, to my complete surprise, I had a GREAT time at D30 on halloween. The drinks were not as crazy expensive as I expected and they weren't watered down club style drinks like i would expect at a place like this. The drinks were consistent- every time (huge plus). The vibe: OH MY! It was awesome! The DJ was fantastic, truly talented- didn't overdo it at all. She kept me dancing ALL night long. The song choices all seemed perfect for the vibe that the dance floor was feeling because there wasn't a time where I looked around while dancing and found anyone that was able to stand still! YOU GO DJ! I think that is what any DJ wants to see, she should be proud. I have been to plenty of clubs that are very popular and expensive yet the DJS are unable to execute like this girl ( I will find her name and update later). I would love to attend another event that she is mixing. The Venu is small, I was surprised that it was as comfortable as it was though. I didn't really realize how small it was after I walked in and started feeling the music and interacting with people. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because of the bathroom, YUCK! I was slipping all over the place while I was in the bathroom, there was water all over the floor and it was black from dirt and who knows what else. Drinks everywhere, floors counters, you name it. Drunk girls picking up random drinks until their sober friends told them that it wasn't theirs...I wish they would have taken time to consider that people still needed to use the restroom although we were all having a blast. I totally understand that it was slammed but maybe someone will read my review and consider that this is a hazard and someone could have gotten hurt. I visited the restroom about an hour after I first encountered the dirt and slippery mess and it had not been attended, there were girls in heals slipping all over so they were lining the floor with paper towels to create a stepping stone type of thing- that created a bigger mess. To conclude, this place provided me with a great time and I will defiantly be back. I hope that management will read this and maybe keep someone on staff just to keep things tidy during the madness, this will make a huge difference! I will look at that bathroom next time in hopes to update my review for D30 to 5 stars because besides the restroom, this place is the perfect night out in Sacramento! So... I gave this place another try, out of my own curiosity and just to be fair. I went last night (Saturday) to meet up with some friends having a going-away celebration. Note: if you show up at 10 you will have no problem getting in. But 10 is just too damn early to be lining up for a club. Anyway, the line went pretty quick and we were inside within 15 minutes. Cover is $15 so not bad for a Saturday night. It was pretty full inside already but not exactly "jumpin". Bartenders are hit or miss. Yes there are a few of them but some look like they are standing around waiting to not serve you. Kim was great. She remembered my order after the first couple rounds which was appreciated. Prices aren't bad either. The space itself is long and narrow, much like Dive Bar. Not a great setup for a club IMO. There's a disco ball and weird videos playing by the dance floor. I did like the funky wall art, especially the ones with the girl's dangling foot. The area around the bar stays really crowded as people wander back and forth. If I were in a booth it'd probably be really annoying to have all these random people blocking your access and view. The bathrooms were a fairly good size and the line moved quick. There was no towel lady though. In this upscale boutique club I guess I'm supposed to grab my own towels :-T I believe the dj spinning was David Carvalho. I'm not really into house music but I was feelin him. I hit the dance floor for about an hour and when it hit midnight I had to bounce before my carriage turned back into a pumpkin. I keep wanting this place to impress me more every time I go. But I've come the conclusion it can't, and probably never will. Now- I WILL say I love that they let me sit when I need to without buying a booth because I have complained about having back and knee issues. The bar is still a hot mess. They need more than 3 bartenders behind the bar on busy nights. Also, seriously? I've been standing at the bar for 10 minutes, and you decide to help your "dude-bro" who JUST walked up before me? The prices are jacked up but you'd expect that from this type of place. I will say the staff have never been anything but nice to me (big props to K. Glaster xoxo). I love that they have added a loungey type dealio to the front porch, to escape the wicked humidity the club strangely always has. I would highly NOT recommend anyone to go here or book an event. I've been too several clubs in Sac and never been treated like this before !!!! Do not waste your time or money , the security guards are rude especially if you are minority. I went here for a birthday where they booked a booth for her birthday. They security guards let random people sit in the booth and drink our drinks that they did not pay for. When the club was closing the security guards where rude and said we had to "get out"- like really do you have to talk to people like that we just bought bottles and VIP my people paid for the VIP AND THE DRINKS ? We were trying to get a few of my friends who where a lil tipsy in the car and all you can hear is the security guards making smart side comments like" it's not rocket science " "it ain't that hard to figure out who should drive " . They were harassing us to get out from the club to the public streets but yet when I looked around there was girls sitting nearby and other people who where not of minority just chilling but they weren't getting harassed? This place basically sums up what I want out of a club experience... 1. Great music - because it is the same owners as Ruby Skye in San Francisco, they can book great DJ talent for Thursday nights in Sac and that same talent spins at Ruby Skye on Friday...so it's a win win for everyone. 2. Fast bar service - they have tons of bartenders so it is never a huge wait for a drink, and the drinks are actually pretty reasonable. $6 for a cocktail isn't too bad for a club. 3. Ample dance floor - the dance floor is always packed up in the front by the DJ, but if you want to hang back and have your own space you can. 4. Great go go dancers - the gogo dancers are pretty intense and have some crazy costumes. They even walk around on stilts. Pretty impressive stuff. Recently came here for their Wednesday night event, TGIW and The Catarac's were "performing" live. I like to think performing involves vocal interaction with some type of movement... but they were just spinning their cd's and shouting along every other verse. Oh well, at least it was free. Pros Sound system - awesome bass and music heard throughout the whole club, even in the bathroom. Bar - nice bartenders, good service, decent prices and good mixes! Cleanliness - everything is pretty clean, no spilled drinks to ruin your new shoes and no throwing up drunkies in the bathroom Cons Size - Isn't it very reminiscent of DIVE BAR except about 4 feet wider and with a miniature dance floor Bar - Only one bar, its about 20 feet long but still... just ONE SINGLE bar?? Security/Doorman - bad service, they act snobby and like to pretend like they're in Vegas or something. They want to favor the better looking people and girls? Not that we're ugly at all but we were at the front of the line at 11pm and didn't get inside until 1230am... So we literally stood face to face with the guy in the front for an hour and half.... ridiculous I really hope to see this place improve itself in the future read more

I'm not much of a 'club person,' but I really liked this place. I read the reviews before coming here, and was a little apprehensive about putting in for VIP for a friend's birthday. In the long run, it was definitely worth it. The server was friendly, the crowd was youthful and fun (without the snotty attitude), and Dev and The Cataracs (they had a short performance there) sounded great over the club's speakers. My friend and I decided to check this place out last night, made a spontaneous trip to Sacramento after reading the reviews off of Yelp. We got there around 12am on a Friday night and found out that they had hit capacity but decided to wait in line anyways. We waited about 20 minutes before paying $15 for cover to get in. The wait in line didn't seem too bad, it was cold but they had heaters to accommodate the cold weather (Thank god it wasn't raining!). The venue was smaller than it looks from the outside, it's just a strip of space with a bar on the right and booths on the left and a hardwood dance floor towards the back. We felt like the youngest ones in the club, seeing that the crowd that night was mainly late 20s - early/mid 30s. I don't know if it's always like that or it was just that night, but either way we ended up having fun! I would definitely go back and hopefully with a bigger group of friends next time. People were dressed in a wide-range of things, we saw a couple guys get kicked out of line for not wearing dress shoes or a collared shirt. However, there were girls looking really casual in a t-shirt to something more scandalous like a see-through lacey top. Not to mention, the bouncers were hotter than most of the guys there, haha. There also is a parking garage conveniently around the corner, not too far away and if anything, there are a few other venues along the same street if you ever hit a long line, you can venture out into other places near by. read more

First things first, great music!! I've been really disappointed in the music played at clubs lately, but not at District 30. Even though the dance floor is pretty small and often crowded, I don't mind at all when I'm able to dance for hours because every song is good. When I've gone, they play a lot of old school hip hop mixed in with newer dance music. The mixes are perfect to dance to. For some reason I always have a good time there. The drinks are decent. They definitely taste better than a few surrounding places, but are still pricey (as they always are at a club) for what you get. Also, you can usually get on a guest list so don't have to pay to get in. And the line isn't too long. read more

District 30 - Dance Clubs Near Me - Sacramento, California

Alright, so I got tricked into coming here for the Annual White Party. Yes, I fell for the awesome advertisement on their website with the amazing electronica music on there as well. Yes, I got suckered in by will.i.am's This is Love. Unfortunately, that was not even close to what they played that night =( However, I will agree that this place looks pretty nice with the white everywhere and awesome lights. It does feel a little Vegas (in Sac), but much smaller. This place is super dinky, and you can barely get in front of the bar or get through the crowd on the dance floor. So why the 4 stars? This is probably one of the nicer places I've been to in Sac. And no, their clientele isn't as ghetto as what they have over there at Splash or Social. =X Oops.... I just said that didn't I? I'd come back for sure. Hopefully on a less busy day. And hopefully they play better music too! read more

I'm not a big going out person. I'm actually kind of a grandma. I may go out two or three times a year and have no idea what the cool, hip places are. But anyway, I came here with my co-worker on two occasions. Once on Halloween and another right after New Year's. On Halloween we got stamps from Dive Bar to get "all-access" at D30. I don't know what that really means. All I know is that we got in for free so that's a plus there. The second time we got on to the guest list which was super easy and they actually start letting you in on time unlike other places *ahem*The Park*ahem*. My only complaint is that you have to text a number and there's no confirmation that you got on the list. There are some open booths for you to sit at if you can get there early enough and pretty much place your guy friends there as place markers. The bartenders are friendly and the prices are decent. But the real reason I like this place a lot is the music. There's a wonderful variety of new mainstream music as well as old school tunes we all know and love. I've come here with two different DJs playing and the music has always been consistent. It's not too crowded here even during big holidays which is really nice and the bathrooms are always clean and I never have to wait long. FINALLY!! A club in Sac that will pull weight!! Right? Hmm...ehhh... Don't get me wrong. It's a nice club for sure, BUT being at a venue located on K Street doesn't let the club owners maximize its potential. The club itself is soo narrow! Not much wider than Dive Bar. In my opinion, the Park still wins as the best club in Sacramento. There are tons of pros though: amazing sound system that you can literally feel beneath your feet, house music featuring occasional well known guest DJs (good or bad depending on the music you like), open til 3AM, upscale feel, etc. However, guestlist is hard to come by and cover is around $15. That's no good. I genuinely do like the club, but if I had a choice I'd go to the Park unless there was a big name DJ in town or I was in the mood to dance to house that night. BOOM-TSS. BOOM-TSS. I reserved a booth here for my birthday last Friday and I had a great experience. The staff was wonderful! The man in charge of the VIP list got my group and I set up in no time and our cocktail waitress was really friendly and super helpful. She worked fast and fixed a drink for everyone in no time at all and checked on us often enough to clear away glasses and napkins without bothering us. This place is definitely a lot nicer than some of the other clubs/lounges in Sacramento, with a good crowd. Most of them looked like they were in their late 20s-early 30s but everyone looked like they were having a good time. If you're like me and don't like paying a cover, try and get on their guest list so that you can get in for free before 11! read more

PSA: NO DRESS CODE! my favorite part of D30 (besides for the acts they bring in)! I love wearing my sneakers and tank tops! clubs like these are smart; they know the happiest dancer/customer is one who doesn't have blistered feet. :) MUSIC: awesome acts! how does this little place in Sac manage to bring in some huge EDM acts? i'm still in awe that we get to see people like Audien or Dash Berlin literally smashed up in front of our faces. sound system is a little deafening though... which is awesome at the time but a little painful the morning after haha. Been here twice now and both time I enjoyed my stay surprisingly. I say surprisingly because both time I was DD and completely sober. The DJ played some good hip-hop and a little more than some of it was some-what current. He played a lot of old school stuff though. Its good old school hip-hop but I would like to dance to more the recent stuff. What gives it 4 stars is the crowd that comes here. It seem like there more care free than a lot of the other place. I don't if its because the bartenders are putting extra shots in the cocktails or there is just some care free people that comes here. They are fun to dance with and they can dance. What marked it down a star is that the place is really narrow and small. Dance floor is about the same size as any other night clubs I've been to in Sacramento. There is only one bar that is not that big either. They didn't have that many bartenders either both nights that I went. Outside lounging is what you see out front. Another thing is they're not that strict with the dress I saw guys with jeans, t-shirt and some sneakers. It could be a bad thing or a good thing I guess so half a star for that one. Over all 3.5 stars. I would go here again so D30 I'll give you a 4! read more

I don't know why but my heart always takes me back to District 30!!! Sometimes I feel like I'm paying $10 cover to watch people dance. Hopefully not trying to offend anyone, I love being amused but I always catch people dance in the most funny ways. For example, a guy salsa dancing to hip hop. HAHA Asiiiiiiiiide from that, I really like how everyone has a good time here getting drunk off their asses and making fools of themselves. I've been one too! The vibe isn't snobby or elitist compared to other places so have a strong drink, be silly, and dance the night away! read more

Would not go back. It was small and crowded and the music was okay. My friend ended up having a few too many drinks as it was her 21st and needed to sit down, our booth was taken so she sat down on the ground where I waited with her. The guard told us we had to leave. I asked what the difference was from sitting here out of the way than at a tabel and he just said leave. After standing up, she had to vomit, I told him we will leave she just needs to use the bathroom which we were right next to, he said no leave now. Well, shame on him, after 3 steps she threw up all over the hallway and he just stood and stared at her like she was the devil, he then finally let us in the bathroom so she could finish after I said she was gonna throw up on the dance floor on the way out. After about 5 minutes puking, he comes into the lady room and yells that we have to leave now while ladies were in there going to the bathroom and had a huge issue with him there. I told him again, she just needs to finish throwing up and he just stood in there staring at her vomitting until there was a break then picked her up and dumped her outside on the bench.... He wasn't very kind, until he dumped her out and then gave her a water bottle. Then said we weren't allowed back in. 2 stars because it was okay bar, but drinks way over priced. Next time, show compassion. read more

Went to District 30 for the first time this last Sunday for their new goth night. I couldn't help but wonder how well a goth night in a trendy K Street bar would work, but whatever, I wanted to check out the venue anyway. District 30 is a long narrow venue with a bar in the middle and dancing space in the back... basically, the same floor plan as Dive Bar but flipped vertically. A few of the features I liked: *the booth seating near the bar *the aesthetics of the bar itself, particularly the back-lit wall *the well-made and reasonably priced drinks *the little dance floor with the low risers for elevated dancing *the lighting and sound system Onto top of District 30's features, the door staff and bartendress were very nice. Shout out to DJ Keyz, she had a great playlist that night. Unfortunately, given the current cost of District 30 admission ($10 at the door and $5+ for garage parking) we probably won't come back too often... but overall the venue is very nice and my group had a great time. read more

This is my first time at District 30. We found street parking on the adjacent streets. We went on a Wednesday night and we got there around 10:40 pm and there were no lines. There were many people hanging around the area as this venue is next to Rock Pizza and Splash. COVER: They asked if we were on guestlist/vip. Nope, they still let us in. Not sure if guys need to pay a cover. DRESS CODE: Dress code is not that strict, this guy got in with a t-shirt so its not one of those where guys need a dress shirt. Girls were definitely more dressed up than guys. CROWD: It was crowded, but the crowd itself was ugh on the attractive scale as that is based on my personal perspective. On the other hand, it was a diverse crowd. DANCE FLOOR: The dance floor is in the back of the venue as the place is a rectangle overall. I was bombarded with two guys that were on the rounder end of the spectrum that were backing up their behinds on me. Not attractive nor appealing at all. They would not leave me alone until my friend told them to go away. There were no go-go dancers. Nobody really had table service that night. MUSIC: Played the top 20 and some of the old hip-hop from the 90's. DRINKS: Drinks were on the stronger end of the spectrum from the norm if that is what you like. Its about $10-12 for a fuzzy navel. OVERALL: This is not somewhere where I would say, "I want to go out to District 30 tonight." It would be in back of the list. read more

Nightclubs thrive on the atmosphere they create, the music played, the strength of the drinks served, and finally....the women they attract. Whether or not the 5-6 drinks I ingested before stepping foot into District 30 will sway my opionion of this place is a mute point, as I throughly enjoyed my debauchery filled night within it's walls, and that's the whole point of going to a club in the first place....FUN. District 30, Pizza Rock, and Dive Bar seem to exist within their own realm of Sac nightlife. I guess you could argue Mix, Devere's, and The Park strive for that same kind of environment, however, even walking up to District 30 feels more like I'm in SF rather than Sac. Maybe's it's that awesomely huge and bright signage above the door? It makes it feel more like a DESTINATION, rather than one of the numerous "Free gueslist before 11PM if you like us on FB, or TWEET about us" clubs that seem to be taking over the region. Yes, it still has the "new club smell" (i.e. no vomit and premium liquor mildew smell has set in....yet) and new places always seem to be nicer or better, but I'm thinking this place might end up being the real deal (at least for a few years, as clubs all have a shelf life in the grand scheme of things). The place is swanky and sounds fantastic. The only fault is of course, I wish it could be BIGGER. It's a bit narrow (probably a bit wider than Dive Bar), but it's still possible to dance and have a good time there. Admission was $15 (if no guestlist add). The drinks averaged about $10 for a premium well drink, which is high, but damn near a standard for most clubs/lounges nowadays. The crowd was a mix of everything on the Friday night that I went (learning more Anglo/Asian/Hispanic though), and no problems were to be had the entire night. Finally, the MUSIC is what sold me. The DJ who spun that Friday was on POINT. Never stepped off the dancefloor once (besides drink refill). He actually mixed songs with skill (damn near a dying art nowadays) and with imagination. I didn't feel like I was dancing to 102.5 traffic jam mix the whole night, so that was great. Long live improvisation for DJ's. Overall, I enjoyed myself and plan to go back. Your mileage may vay, but it's really dependent on what kind of nightlife you enjoy in the longrun. I could see people being happy to be "seen" in a place like this, just as much as folks whotruly enjoy dancing the night away. read more

I've only been here once, and it's been a while. I'm not the biggest club/dance venue freak, but I enjoy it occasionally. By the way, this was my first ever club experience at the time. Out of the few clubs I've been to in Sacramento, this is probably one of the better ones. Drinks aren't as expensive as some other places. It's also nice that it's right next to Dive Bar and Social. Palares isn't too far away either. It makes bar/club hopping easier for you girlies in your sky-high heels. Parking is literally right around the corner. It's a $5 flat rate for the night, which isn't that bad if you go with a group and DD. I really enjoyed the music here. It had a good flow, and the songs were popular enough that I was able to recognize it and sing along. But the songs weren't so mainstream that I hated it. The dance floor was a good size. Not too big like an awkward prom, but not too small like a ghetto house party. And you don't need to dress too fancy to get in, but it sure won't hurt. I wouldn't mind coming here again. :) read more

I am not a huge club person, I usually prefer a bar with good music but every city needs a selection of clubs and frankly I'm burnt out on what we've had to choose from for the last few years. Many are comparing this to Mix, I have never appreciated the mix layout- there are far too many couches where there could be dancing. I had a great time at District 30. The staff are friendly (everyone from the door guy (who is mean at almost every club) to the girl running the coat check to the bartenders). I recognized some of the bar tenders from the park, good move district 30- these are great bartenders. While I wasn't the biggest fan of all the music (I'm a rock n roll girl) There was no music that was unbarable like the music empire used to play. The DJ kept it goin smooth and didn't leave MJ out of the night and I loved the momentary disco ball, nice touch- very nice. The Bathrooms were nice, more stalls than most clubs offer and it was clean, the only line I stood in was pretty quick. I got rained on when walking from the car to the club and wished they had heated hand dryers but my beauty isn't their responsibility. The decor had a classy feel to it, they are limited in the shape of the building and I can see why people think its odd that the VIP booths are accross from the bar but they had to be put there in order to have a wide open dance floor. Lastly cost- I got in on a guest list but the regular cover is $15, not too bad and competitive with other sacramento clubs. My regular drink is a kettle one and 7up, usually 6 or 7 at most bars/ clubs- they were $8 here, not too much more, besides sometimes it takes the extra dollar or two to keep the crowd socially sophisticated. Can't wait to go back, I'm going to have to check out one of these star DJ's I keep hearing about sometime. read more

Unfortunately, since it was my first time coming here I didn't put my name on the guest list and wasted $15 for the cover charge. The music was good but the place was pretty small. When you enter there is a long bar area with booths on the opposite side. After you walk past the bar there is a small dance floor. That's it. The crowd was pretty mixed and consisted of people who seemed to be in their 30's. There was also a photographer who took pictures inside, but when I tried to look for them they are nowhere to be found on the website. Bleh. read more
