The Pleasures of the GREEN FAERIE NIGHT at The Hollow inside District 30
    Michelangelo S.

A Very Polished & Stylish Club Venue SITREP I am a fan of District 30 and the event "The Hollow" which has taken place at this venue both on Sundays and Thursday Nights. SETUP I first came to appreciate this venue because of the wonderful Industrial-EBM DJ-Dance Event "The Hollow". It started out on it's Grand Opening night as a Sunday Night club. CONFLICTS AVERTED FOR SUNDAY NIGHTS But as a preference manifested itself to change the nights and also DJ schedules switched it up, "The Hollow" has become a fixture for Thursday Nights now and that makes me happy, since I did not like it when it ran up against and conflicted with the Sunday Night Gothic-Industrial-EBM night of "Factor IX" @ Midtown Barfly. Peace reigns once again in the music-galaxy (at least for Sundays). KUDOS TO PROMOTERS A big shoutout to Jeremiah, Roxie and Nemmy for bringing a FANTASTIC Gothic-Industrial-EBM Dance event once again to Thursday nights in Sacramento. I have missed the old Biomech days when that event was at the old Cattle Club (where Bislas is now on Folsom Blvd). Thursday nights were a great way to get into the an early weekend, especially if you did not care being a ZOMBIE at work on Friday morning. AWESOME DJs The Thursday night event features DJ Bryan Hawk, who also does Factor IX @ Midtown Barfly on Sunday Nights, and also DJ Davidara, the extremely talented drummer most recently of the Industrial band Savi0r. But I would be remiss if I didn't also give a shoutout to DJs Megz and Dark Star for their Sunday Night run with the club, two outstanding female DJs. THURSDAY DJ LINEUPS Now Thursdays see DJ Davidara as the resident "go-to" DJ and most recently DJ Sir Ritch was partnered up with him. It makes for a fun night. GO GO DANCERS! I love the go-go dancing! There is a wonderful team of GoGo Dancers lead by Serenity, and she has cultivated a wonderful group of individuals, and I must emphasis, both women & men. One of the most recent events was a celebration of the Green Faerie and I had a blast taking pictures for this event. On opening night, it was the Queen of Hearts Ball and the centerpiece of that was a dynamic costume competition. I have pictures on this site of both events. Enjoy! THE LOWDOWN District 30 is very stylish venue for any kind of musical fun. [The survey at the bottom of the review asks for "Best Nights". For me, that is Sunday and Thursday nights. For you, the more mainstream patron, I'm pretty sure that's going to be Friday and Saturday, just sayin.]

Saw Paul Oakenfold play here back 2011. Was awesome. The place is really small so seeing an international DJ from a few feet away was pretty sweet. It was a great time.

As for the food: 1. The grilled shrimp were nice and firm and well grilled. Enjoyed them a lot 2. The hash brown fries were pretty unique and definitely a must get. It comes with a nice creamy sauce that you want to dip everything in. Only criticism is the prices. Didn't really order a lot of food with two appetizers, but I paid two main entree type prices for them. Were that great? Definitely! Just be aware up front if this is a factor.

This is my first classic martini (unlike lychee martinis I've had before at other places). My server asked how I like it, with olive juice or with lemon twist or another option I don't remember. To be honest I don't know how I like it because it's is my first classic martini. So I was honest with him. I said I'll do whatever you recommend because I wanted to try a classic martini cuz I've been watching Gossip Girl. I felt silly admitting I wanted a martini because of a tv show. But my server actually did his research and found that Blair (a main character in the show) likes her martini with a lemon twist. And that is the martini I got. He brought frozen glass and poured the drink on the spot. It was such a vibe and a great drink. For food I got the grilled prawns. This dish is delicious and goes so well with my martini! For my second drink I got the shiso fresh. I was debating between two drinks and asked my server for suggestions. He is absolutely right with this recommendation. Shiso fresh is refreshing and sweet but not too sweet. I loved it. Service is wonder and drinks are tasty. I can't wait to come back!

My first experience here was unforgettable -- my class rented out the rooftop for our master's degree graduation party, so I really got to see everything they offer. The food was phenomenal and the drinks were just as impressive. Since it was a private event, I had the chance to try a little bit of everything: wagyu sliders, shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, pork belly bites, charcuterie, and more. We truly went all out. Outside of that event, every time I've come in as part of the general public, it's been a positive experience too. The crowd is usually full of young professionals, and it definitely gets packed -- in a good way. The vibe is lively, stylish, and social. Overall, it's a great spot, and I'm glad they're keeping things fresh. Until next time -- thanks for the good time.

This is located on a rooftop of the Hyatt Centric with sweeping views of Sacramento and beyond. We went around sunset to enjoy some drinks and apps before heading out. The menu was creative and unique. Our cocktails were very well prepared and our server made a great recommendation when they were out of an Ingredient for one of the drinks we wanted to try. Their recommendation was a solid option. For food we tried the tandoori chicken lollipops which were super juicy and tender and flavorful. The pakoras were also perfect crispy on the outside and well seasoned. Highly recommend checking it out.

Fantastic Spot To "Pregame" Shows @ Goldfields Next Door…read more SITREP We descended upon the Tack Room an hour before our show for "Ally The Piper" (both the classical AND heavy metal bagpiper extraordinaire) began her show! THE SETUP Goldfields is a charming, rustic country-western stylized saloon that serves up beer at good prices. But we weren't interested in beer and wanted quality cocktails. Hence, our pivot next door to the Tack Room! QUALITY COCKTAILS & DRINKS! The Tack Room specializes an amazing array of martinis, bourbons, and other deLISH cocktail drinks at really really reasonable prices! So this was an excellent choice to chill, thus avoiding the tremendous *noise pollution* we were immediately subjected to upon entering Goldfields an hour later for our show. THE LOWDOWN This is a quality bar with plenty of comfortable seating to relax and have quiet, intimate conversations. So if you and your later friend(s) want some privacy, cocktails at a reasonable price, etc., this is a good way to go.

It's themed around horse racing, but not in an overbearing or... tacky way. The mixologist was delightful and had great recommendations, the lights were dim, and the drinks were all on point. The highlight was the espresso martini, which is among the best I've had. It was reminiscent of the one I had at the Starbucks Roastery in NYC, which is high praise. The other coffee drink that surprised me was the Revolver. I always forget about what a good pairing orange and coffee is, and I'll be taking this one back home with me to try! Every other drink we tried was delicious in some unique way. The Pho drink was savory and surprising, the New York Sour was rich and flavorful, and the Practical Move was refreshing. Will definitely return here after dinner to sip an espresso martini for dessert!
