An unassuming dinner in an unassuming location. You wouldn't think much of this place looking at it from the outside. And the location is a bit dodgy being close to an overpass. In the daytime it's fine and just on the outskirts of downtown transitioning into midtown. But the food is great and makes for a good lunch break for downtown and wanting to take nice little stroll. I usually get a burger and fries. But they have quite a varied menu. Ambiance is nice. Inside is reminiscent of an old style dinner. Outdoor seating is available as well. read more

Food presentation was great. I ordered mine without sauerkraut. I took a bite and it was sour :( I lifted my eggs and there was think shreds of what I thought was sauerkraut. I informed the waiter and he offered to replace it...great right? He quickly returned to tell me that what I was seeing was cheese and returned with the same plate. I found myself going back and forth with the server a bit and decided to have him take it away. He did offer to get me anything g else but I was taken back by the lack of service when we walked in and were not greeted and had to ask if it was "seat yourself." Then it took long for the initial greet. Mind you the place is small and had about five table inside and two out on the patio when we arrived. My coffee was lukewarm. We could over hear of waiter talk about his wild night on the town not getting home u til 5am and then had to come to work that morning. Totally explains the lack of service we received. Not a place I have to come back or will I recommend for anyone to go as a - have to try. My husband said his omelet and waffle were very good. He ate the entire meal. It was also hot and muggy inside Indicating the AC was not working properly and propping the front door open did not help. The atmosphere has severely changed since I was last here. The crowd is now very rowdy and now includes screeching, crying babies whose parent's make no attempt to make the noise stop. As a tip, don't come during peak hours. The parking gets pretty packed and street parking is hard to find. On a positive note the piña coladas are pretty good and so is everything on the brunch menu. Although there's been a few occasions when the coffee has been cold. But they are very friendly if you ask for another cup. For a busy place they are attentive. The hummingbird cake is also quite good. It's just the noise is very offputting. read more

I've passed this place a million times, and never had the desire to eat here. In my mind it was a diner, it's kinda built in like an old train cart or something like that. But it was actually a cute place. The weather was nice, so we decided to sit out on a patio. It was two o'clock in the afternoon, so the place wasn't very busy. We had very great service. And our server knew the menu very well. For an appetizer we ordered the spinach dip. Oh my God. That stuff was delicious. I'm a huge fan of Houston's spinach dip. But this one wasn't like Houston's, but as far as taste goes. They were neck and neck in my opinion. We had a spinach salad as well. It was okay. I'm not a fan of nuts and fruit in my salad, but my friends are and they loved it. (Have at it honey). And last was the beef tenderloin burger. Yesss!!! I came here for relaxing Sunday night dinner. It's dog friendly with outdoor seating, so Nougat (my dog) loves it! The servers always ask if he would like a bowl of water. Appetizer - Spinach artichoke dip with naan "chips". I don't think the naan chips go well with the dip, but I actually like the soft texture. Entrees: Sesame Soy Salmon - The salmon was a bit dry and the risotto was too al dente for me. Chopped Brussel Ice Burger - On "slow dough" bun. Ehh I didn't care for this burger. It lacked flavor. The steak fries were subbed with sweet potato fries. Now those fries were delicious and were all gone! Although they were lean on staff, the service was great! We ordered a round of large mimosas for only $4/glass. Small mimosas cost $2/glass. They also offer what's called a poinsettia mimosa, which substitutes the orange juice with cranberry juice. We were given both lunch and brunch menus, but all decided to order from the brunch menu because we wanted breakfast items. I ordered the crab cake with eggs, Sue ordered the waffles, and Monte ordered the meat omelette. The first thing I noticed when all the entrees hit the table was the amount of food on each plate. Each entree came with eggs and potatoes, so it was a complete meal. The crab cake was a decent size, and there was a good amount of crab meat in it. There were some red and green peppers mixed in. It wasn't the best crab cake I've had, but for this diner style restaurant it had exceeded my expectations. I ordered my eggs over easy, so I used my toast to soak up that delicious yolk. I'm not a fan of omelettes. I mean, they're ok, but not my absolute favorite item to have for breakfast. Monte's omelette came with a variety of breakfast meats including, sausage, ham, and bacon. It was mixed with onions and again served with eggs and potatoes. Sue's dish was probably my favorite. The waffle had a nice crust on the outside, but fluffy on the inside. Her waffle was served with eggs and potatoes. The only request I would have had with her dish was that it came with more syrup. It's served with a ramekin of syrup, but it definitely needs more given the size of the waffle. Overall, the service was excellent and District 7 Grill really exceeded my expectations. The restaurant definitely has a diner feel, and it's appearance is deceiving. Inside though, you can find cheap mimosas and great food for cheap. The weather was great for dining outside. We had a six top table, so that gave us plenty of space (Perfect for playing with Scarlett!). They're open until 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. They have their own parking lot (a plus in Midtown), free Wi-Fi, and you can bring your own wine. I would recommend checking this place out for any time of the day. read more

I was searching for a new local restaurant to try for lunch. My friend recommended me try to this place. When I first walked in, I was confused due to there not being a hostess or host. Therefore, you pick where you want to sit. I decided to sit inside even though there was patio seating available. I reviewed the menu and didn't know what I wanted to try. So I asked my server how did "Moof" taste. She was somewhat rude and annoyed that I was asking questions like: "how does the bread taste that comes with me?" And "what exactly is Moof?" Stopped by here for brunch on a Monday. The place was dead and I soon found out why. Service was horrible and the food was definitely nothing special. The waiter messed up the order twice, dropped a jelly packet in my coffee, and couldn't tell the difference between american and cheddar cheese. He actually brought out a slice of Kraft! I can't really give a full review on this spot because I only really got to experience dinner menu. The place reminds me of a upscale dinner, there is outside seating. I find this place as a great spot to meet with friends sit outside and talk and then you have your indoor seating. The selection that I chose for that evening was the Artichoke Spinach stuffed chicken, what kind of threw me off about this dish was it was a red sauce, the sauce was a Mediterranean sauce. I will admit that I thought the red sauce wasn't a good pair you of Artichoke and Spinach I'm thinking white cream sauce. But boy oh boy my but was sooooooo wrong, the sauce and the tenderness of chicken worked out great! Great seasoning and flavors the side that comes with the dish is a risotto. I'm not a fan of the risotto so I ordered grilled veggies those could of had a little more seasoning. This is our designated brunch spot on the weekend. It's low-key yet clean, pet friendly, no waiting in line and most of all great food! I sometimes get the vegan option where I order the vegetable breakfast wrap with nan bread (lower calories) with additional avocado. But sometimes I cannot resist their other items like the seafood cioppino or paella. Their osso bucco is also amazing. Seriously good food and $2/$4 s/l mimosas! What could have been an okay experience. The owner/waiter was so rude! My husband paid for the meal and told him he could keep the change. He slammed the change on the table and followed us out the restaurant stating 'Don't come back again'. My husband and I was very confused on why he behaved that way. The food was okay.
