This review is for grooming. I recently moved to the area and brought my pup here for grooming. I appreciated the cleanliness of the location as well as the availability of appointments. My pup received a decent haircut and the groomer took time to chat with me about what I had in mind as well as any sensitive spots my may have. The ONLY reason I'm taking off 2 stars is because my pup's ears weren't plucked per multiple vet recommendations (due to her being prone to ear infection). This has been a standard, included service in the whole of my pup's 14 years. The inconvenience of having to make time and take my pup for another service nullifies the other benefits. read more

Parents of senior dogs, beware! They do not like to care for them and will reject them if they are not as energetic and lively as the other pups they have in daycare. Initially, my first two daycare visits were good. I even have pics of my senior toy poodle enjoying himself. I heard that a Pomeranian took a particular interest in him. He wants the company of other dogs, but he's not going to play as much at his age. He's never been a ball chaser (check the breed -- that's not their M.O.). But he's cuddly and will eventually cozy up to another fur friend. However, DD-Shaw said that he was "old and frail," and they could no longer have us as a client. This is unfortunate. How much skill does it take to allow an older dog to nap and sniff? Shame. I hope someone in the DMV will start a business that will focus on older pets. They still have life in them, and we love them just like the puppies. read more

I will never use another groomer. EVER! They blow my mind with their friendly service as well as the quality provided by my groomer.

Had so much hope for district dogs as it is in a convenient location, but that seems to be all it has going for it. First interaction I had was stopping by to inquire about training. Quickly, I was directed to email/contact the trainer. The receptionist did not offer to discuss other services. The trainer did respond quickly and did not rush the conversation, answering my many questions. Training is quite expensive, especially for what you get. For $300 for a six session course I would have expected the trainer to be able to conduct the class without reading and constantly referring to a PowerPoint. They were not helpful when they came around to our tight sections that were separated by sheets and trash bags. Also, we would start class a few minutes late but would wrap up early and would be rushed out. When doing examples the dogs did not to respond to the trainer and they would attempt with another dog in hopes of a better outcome. In no way is the value close to what you pay. There is much better information online for free. District Dogs has a zero refund policy with no expectations, even when services are not performed as advertised. Management did not even contact us directly for any sort of feedback or follow up. I will stay clear of District Dogs, especially given the experience I had was when I was with my dog and could evaluate what was happening. read more

Where should I began? Ah!! From the front desk staff to the grooming salon wooot woot wooot! I bring my dog here to be for daycare and grooming. DAYCARE: she's always happy to come, when she get home she eat her dinner go for her last walk and sleep until the next morning! I've reached a goal! GROOMING: the groomer is awesome, she gave my girl the absolute best cut, her fur clean, nail were cut (most importantly) and her cut was on point, she was even all over and had that cute teddy bear face. My review is solely based on the customer service aspect. The first time I attempted to book here was for grooming. Most groomers either ask you to upload/e-mail or bring shot records with you. Someone made the genius decision to cancel my appt because they didn't have my dog's shot records. Instead of, ya know, e-mailing asking me for them since there wasn't a spot in the online system during registry to send them. In doing so, they released the appt time I had and just like that someone took that spot. Then of course after doing so, I get an e-mail stating they cancelled the appt because they needed her shot records and once I sent them I could rebook but at that time it was too late. I work two full time jobs and rarely have time to bring her during the week and that was the last appt they had. Fast forward to tonight and I request for daycare. A few mins later I get a generic e-mail stating that my appt was rejected with 3 different reasons as to why it was rejected. None of them actually related to each other and made the reasoning as clear as mud. I won't be trying again anymore. I'll just continue to go out to Jessup where I don't have to deal with this nonsense. read more

Our pup LOVES District Dog. We are visiting from out-of-town and were in search of a daycare option to help our friendly pup get out his puppy energy. He is always happy to arrive at DD and the staff are always happy to see him too! We have used both the daycare and spa services. Myeshia is an amazing groomer who was able to restore my dog to his floofiness and DD offered him a complimentary bandanna to boot. Also: DD really takes care of the owner experience by providing a report card and sharing pictures. I have not used the webcam feature but I know it can provide peace of mind to anyone who is a very attached dog parent. Note: sometimes during "off-peak" hours, the front desk is left unattended (they are prioritizing being with the pups). I have found calling the store while you're there easily gets someone to take care of you at the front desk. No biggie. Just a helpful tip! Really grateful for this seamless experience finding a quality one-stop-shop doggie daycare! read more

We use District Dogs in Shaw for grooming, daycare, and training classes. We've been to Taylor twice now for grooming and she provides such excellent service. She is very good at talking through exactly the type of haircut we're looking for and always gives a full report about how things went afterwards (which we really appreciate so we know how our pup behaved). We've been very happy with both haircuts done by Taylor. Kore is a fantastic trainer and we had a great experience with the beginner class. They do host a lot of dogs for daycare, but it has never been an issue for us and we get to check in on the webcams throughout the day to see how our guy is doing! Great service overall! read more

District Dog is a godsend for anyone who works in DC! The staff is amazing at the daycare, and the dog walkers are second to none. What makes District Dogs so great is that you can set your walks and never work worry that someone will show up. They have multiple dog walkers and keep you in the loop once a walk is completely with updates about the walk and many postable pictures. We absolutely love District Dogs. We have the monthly unlimited package and we take our 1-year old pup to the Park View District Dogs locations several times per week. He loves going and is always nice and tired when he comes home! Recently, we also did a 7-day board and train program with Michael Hill from District Canine through District Dogs, and the results were amazing! Our formerly highly-distracted, unable-to-walk-without-pulling goldendoodle turned into a model walking partner within just a week. Michael gave us amazing tips about using a new kind of leash and ways to keep our pup from getting agitate both on walks and when watching dogs out the window. We're so happy we decided to work with Michael, and excited to be able to do some refresher sessions at District Dogs in the future! read more

We took our mini labradoodle puppy here (only 2nd grooming visit ever) and we were immediately greeted by a pleasant staff member helping us and then we were introduced to the groomer, Myeshia. Myseshia was amazing and did the exact kind of cut we wanted and was incredibly thoughtful and finished earlier than expected! The staff here was incredibly kind, caring, and really loved dogs (you could tell). Our little guy after his grooming session didn't even really want to leave! Thank you again Myseshia and Maya! I've been living in navy yard for a year and have taken my 2 year old puppy (German shepherd mix) there about 5 times for dog boarding while I have been out of town. The staff is all super friendly and welcoming. They have a large space for the dogs to play and offer a variety of great services. I love that they have the dog webcams so I can watch her play! TLDR: My husband and I have factored District Dogs' coverage area into our rental and property searches. We gush to strangers about them at cocktail parties. They're reliable, communicative, and amazing. Our dog loves them, and so do we. We've been using District Dogs for several years to walk our chocolate lab. In that time, all of our walkers have been dependable and professional without fail. They provide details about each walk daily, and send photo updates nearly every day. It's obvious that our girl loves her walks, the other dogs she walks with, and her walkers! As a senior dog, she's has had quite a few health issues (mobility troubles, cones of shame, GI issues), and the staff has rolled with the punches and were considerate of her limits. We've also had District Dogs dogsit at our apartment and at the staff's homes on several occasions, and their updates and care of our girl give us absolute peace of mind when we're on vacation. The staff has gone out of their way to accommodate even last minute walking and dogsitting requests, and always respond quickly to messages. Took my puppy to day "camp" at District Dogs while I went to a Nats game. She made friends, played for hours, and even had her nails "done." I picked up a sweet but exhausted puppy, which is, in my view, a perfect state of being. Afterwards, we got a "report card" with photos and some comments on her behavior. What's also great is that as folks arrive for and leave from the game, they bring their children over to see the "doggies in the window." More than one parent sang that song to a child... She enjoyed it very much and we will be back soon! read more

Your pet will be neglected, please choose another company for your service...there are plenty in DC. My dog was there for 24 hours and was not fed and by his actions, he did not receive water either. To make a long story short, he was dehydrated and sick after his stay and we ended up at the vet. Almost $800 later and my poor dog is on 4 meds after receiving fluid and other meds from the vet. District Dogs lied on my dog's report card that he ate and was so happy. I did not receive a phone call, e-mail, or any notification about his behavior. read more

The people at District Dogs are absolutely amazing. They are so caring, attentive, extremely responsive, and have been there for me in numerous ways including feeding my pup breakfast when I forgot one day and once the owner actually walked my dog on a weekend day when they normally wouldn't have dog walkers. My dog is so happy when I come home now, I'm not sure what I would do without them! I also live in a complicated apartment building that has been referred to by other residents as "Fort Knox" - District Dogs has had no problem figuring it out. They also send amazing pics of your pup and let you know how the walk went every day. I highly recommend using them!! read more

Our puppy Lily absolutely loves District Dogs. She goes to daycare M-F and boards there when we are out of town. You can tell how caring the staff is and how much they love the dogs by the excitement Lily shows when she arrives. District Dogs is the only service in DC I trust to take care of my dog. Dog daycares and walkers can have such a bad reputation for safety and professionalism but none of that applies to the DD team. They know my dog by name at daycare no matter how long it's been since his last visit, he's happy to see them, and the daycare is always a clean and bright place. The staff is excellent. They also have such a fun Instagram presence and I know they genuinely love their clients and the work they do, which is why we love them back! Myeisha is a blessing to me and my two dogs Collin a Lhasa Apso and Keelo a Shih Tzu. Life gets hectic sometimes so usually my dogs are a mess when I bring them in to get groomed. I'm not from the east coast, so I'm not used to dry and unfriendly people in a customer service environment. I visited this location for doggy daycare while on vacation. The staff weren't the nicest people I've ever met. I don't think I was greeted or told anything upon leaving the times I dropped my dog off or picked him up. Our first trip there as new clients and the staff member up front who hardly said a word seemingly couldn't wait for us to leave. I expressed concerns about my 5 month old puppy not being very interactive with other dogs. He's not mean or scared, just very lazy and doesn't play a lot. I wanted him to be in the smaller dog area because he's not very active and still not big, as he's only 21 weeks old. The guy up front told me that he would start out in the small dog area but eventually move to the large dog area, despite me expressing concerns that I didn't want that to happen. The dogs in the larger area seemed to be 70+ lbs and very large. I watched my puppy on the webcam throughout the day. He played very little and mostly napped. I was happy to see that he did stay in the small dog area all day, as I wanted him to be. I was pleased with the report card received after picking him up the first day, however, the report card for the 2nd day didn't have accurate information and mentioned feeding, though my pup was just there for doggy daycare, not boarding, and we did not request for him to be fed or bring his food. I give this place 4 stars solely on the fact that my dog was safe in the small dog area, but the unfriendly staff up front doesn't entice me to return, as they don't really seem to care that much about their clients which makes me feel like they probably don't care much about the pets there. The areas for the pets are also VERY small, and when I asked how many dogs they have at one time they said typically 50-70 and I have no idea how they could possibly fit that many dogs in those play areas. Thankfully, there weren't many pups there during the weekend we needed the daycare. read more

I used to love this place until an employee was rude and dismissive and then yanked my dog around. The employee also didn't check my dog in that day so I could not monitor how he was treating my dog on the camera feed and I ended up having to go pick him up and haven't been back to the place since. My dog is too precious to leave in the hands of people who are callous and careless. In the process, I learned that they had been inappropriately taking visits from an extra package I purchased to help provide cash early in the pandemic instead of my current package allowing some of those visits to expire. While the owner was responsive to my complaint and admitted that the employee was not very good with people but was good with operations. I don't want to leave my dog with people who value operations over humans and dogs. I went above and beyond to help this business out at the beginning of the pandemic and barely received an apology and no effort to rectify the situation with poor billing. I ate the cost of the visits and took my business down the street where we are very happy! read more
