I went to The District GastroBar for brunch with a friend, and we had a great time! She ordered the shrimp and grits with a strawberry margarita, and I went with the steak and eggs paired with a strawberry lemonade sangria. Everything came out quickly, fresh, and flavorful. We had reservations, which worked out perfectly because the place started getting busy a little after 1 p.m. The vibes were great, good food, good drinks, and a lively atmosphere without feeling overcrowded. Definitely a solid spot for brunch. I'd go back again!

Brunch at The District GastroBar in downtown Orlando was such a genuinely good experience for my friends and me this past Saturday. It is a small, intimate space with a cozy energy that immediately makes you feel comfortable. It is the kind of place where conversation flows easily and brunch feels intentional instead of rushed. I do want to be transparent. They appeared slightly understaffed during our visit. However, what stood out was the effort. The team moved with intention and did their best to make sure everyone felt acknowledged and taken care of. That effort goes a long way. Jordan, our waiter, was truly a highlight. He was warm, attentive, and patient, and he made our table feel welcomed rather than managed. That distinction matters. As for the food, the Lobster Wontons were unforgettable. Perfectly crisp and flavorful. I also had the Smash Breakfast Burger with breakfast potatoes, and it was hearty, well seasoned, and satisfying in every bite. The drinks were just as enjoyable. The Lemonade Sangria was refreshing, the Sunrise Tequila had the perfect brunch vibe, and the shot of strawberry tequila with grenadine was a fun, flavorful addition to the table. A practical note for future guests. A party of more than eight might be a lot for the staff to operate smoothly depending on the day or time you go, especially when downtown is busy or the arena has an event. They also automatically include a 20 percent gratuity, so keep that in mind. If you go in with patience and realistic expectations for a small venue, you will likely have a great time. It is a spot worth trying, especially on a quieter day.

Walked in and was greeted with a smile. I wasn't sure what to eat from the menu so I asked the main waitress who was very helpful in the area of what's good on the menu and what they've tried. Note there were 2 who and both indicate everything was good on the menu, but there were certain meals that they loved. After reviewing the menu. I decided on a few things. A starter appetizer, a Bloody Mary and then of course some entrées. All of which were very flavorful right temperature. (We enjoyed everything) While eating brunch, there was music playing in the background not too loud not too soft nothing offensive while TV's surrounded the room for additional visual. All together a good vibe. Note the venue is not a huge but a good size and they take reservations. When I came in I was seating quickly, but I can recall trying to come and eat during a certain sports seasons being it is down the street from the arena and soccer stadium and it being packed. They have large booths that can sit between 5 to 6 people possible more. They also have tables and hightop tables if you have a smaller group and a nice size bar if you don't want to sit at a table. I really love the fact that the staff was very attentive and happy to offer their assistance on food choices. They came back on a regular to check to make sure everything was good and if there was something else that was needed. You may think that's what they are suppose to do, however, I have experienced eating out a lot some people don't like their job or just don't care. So this is always a plus for me. After eating and drinking my bloody Mary I will have to note the food had me already thinking when I'm gonna come back again for brunch to try more items on the menu and or try their dinner menu. For those that normally tip more than 18-20% there is a line on the bill that you can add more. Looking forward to trying them out again

Came here for an impromptu brunch. This was my first time having brunch here but I had come by for taco Tuesday before. The food and service is satisfactory overall and they run frequent deals on drinks and food. I had the shrimp and grits for brunch and they were easily the most well seasoned entree I've had in a very long time. I enjoyed it very much. I also had the strawberry margarita and I was very pleased. The bartender was very accommodating and even played the music we asked for. Also noted that even though this location is downtown, the parking was surprisingly easy and convenient

    Great for a function.

Great place. Great staff. Great food. Well done. Owner was very accommodating. We will do more at this great venue.

Cute bar with delicious food. We went for NYE and were worried we wouldn't get a reservation but the location was not as close to the main events downtown and was pretty light. We didn't realize it (not sure it was disclosed on Open Table) but there was a limited menu for NYE. I was disappointed at that but the option I choose in the $75 3 course bundle (stuffed salmon) was yummy. The appetizer fried shrimp was blah, but the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and aioli sauce was delicious. The desserts were 50/50. Very plentiful (a cheesecake slice, red velvet slice, and ice cream). I liked the cheesecake and the ice cream but the red velvet's cake had low flavor and the icing was not good at all. My martini was strong but I was expecting more flavor. My friend had a lavender infused mimosa with tequila and it was so good! It was smooth with no aftertaste. We also felt the pictures and videos were deceiving. This place is very small! Our server was friendly and likely new. He hadn't tasted a dessert item to recommend (butter cake) and also had some trouble entering the order in the device used. He was attentive and had a great personality.

Food = good Waitstaff / Service = good Workflow / Process = bad This place would be amazing if they could figure out the workflow. Bar drinks sit on the counter. Food is missed (my truffle fries came out when we were ready to leave). Food tasted GREAT! But, if the workflow problems aren't fixed, not sure we'll be back.

I've ordered food from here, but that only happened because I was at the other restaurant to the side of this restaurant. However, I must say the old bay chicken seasoning is absolutely delicious. I didn't realize how good he could potentially be and it's delicious to the point where I would order it every single time. But I recommended it to a friend that came to the restaurant with me, and he ordered it and demolished it. I ordered the chicken pasta and that was actually delicious. It was a recommendation from the hostess and she got it right on the money super flavorful, packed with sauce, and cheese was just the right amount. I don't have the pictures here listed. However, the shrimp and grits was an absolute yes. My friends loved it. However, the tacos were not good whatsoever. It's very rare that my friend sent food back. But if they sent back the tacos that it wasn't good, and I never got a chance to taste it to really say if it's bad or not. But if it was replaced by the shrimp and grits, and that was delicious, because it was eating all the way down To The last scrapes of the plate. I actually really like this place for the time that I have come. Subtle, relaxing, good drinks, and good food. So I'll probably be back in about a month or so.

The ambiance and feel of the bar is very "sultry" and "intimate." The mood lighting, dark paneling/interiors paired with the bar itself being lit to be the center of attention, lends itself to the secretiveness and LURE that a modernized speakeasy would provide. I truly enjoy stepping foot into this little hidden, but NOT so hidden, gem (which can be accessed from the interior to Talay). Service can be slow at times - especially when they are busy. However, the staff is usually always gracious, helpful, and willing to serve. The few great mixologists I've met there have also been very willing to break down how they make their drinks and really give us a glimpse into their world. So, I'm appreciative of that. That is not something that you can always expect at bars. As for the drinks (and food I'll glaze over), I am usually not left disappointed. I appreciate that seasonally they play with their drink menu and introduce new cocktails. I also love a handful of their signature drinks on the menu. This may be the only bar I've had a drink with Aperol in it that I actually ENJOYED (and not tolerated). The pricing can get high depending on what you order, but for the area and the going rate of a night out, they hold their own. Definitely don't pop into Noir if you are looking for an AFFORDABLE cocktail experience because the tab will creep up on you. The food is OKAY. They share a kitchen with Talay and offer some items not on the Talay menu - which is nice. However, I rarely eat when I visit, so the few times I have, it's been okay. Nothing to truly brag home about. I am happy, though, that they did start offering food because in the very beginning (when they first opened), that was not an option. Anyways, Noir Bar is GREAT (to me)! I will keep coming here and recommending it to others. It's also great for a date night or night out with your friends. It's in a decent location - but please take heed of parking in this area, as it can be challenging to find FREE street parking. However, there is parking available all around and in various garages nearby.

Real good vibes. Orlando obviously has no shortage of places to eat, drink, and gather, but Alfie's belongs to that rare category of venues that feel equally at home in a major metropolis. It's the kind of spot that would fit seamlessly into Los Angeles's best neighborhoods: think Gold Line in Highland Park or the Vinyl Room at the Hollywood Palladium. Not because they're carbon copies, but because they share that intangible quality of genuine discovery and cultural curiosity. The crowd ( age range 25 - 35 mostly ) was genuinely engaged with one another. People were actually talking, actually present, not hunched over their phones. That alone felt invigorating. There was an undeniable spark in the room. Alfie's wasn't chasing trends; it was simply allowing them to emerge naturally. What impressed me most was how they brought it all together .. Retro stereo equipment and vinyl players from the 50s mixed with a bar area that's super sleek and modern. Conversations, music, the lounge itself .... all came together in a way that felt alive and IN THE MOMENT. When my LA friends visit, Alfie's is on the list. Go after 9 or 10 PM and plan to stay for at least two hours. That's when you really see the scene develop and come alive. Bring your ID: they card at the door. Even at my age, I still get carded. We looked over the happy hour menu (good all day on Monday nights and Tuesday through Friday 5-7pm). We ask Mel about the "Bartender's Choice" selection under happy hour drinks. She said the bartender will mix a drink of their preference. The customer cannot choose the alcohol or any mixers as the bartender makes the decisions all by him or herself. Mel asked if we had any allergies or any other issues that might affect the drinks the bartender would like to make. We said we did not and we decided to take on this "choice" experience. Serena was the bartender of the evening and she did an amazing job. She mixed up various concoctions for us throughout the night (we ordered a second round after the first one) and we enjoyed every drink she prepared. The presentation of the drinks were also well done. Serena's cocktails consisted of bourbon, rum, and various ingredients which could include bitters, lemon, agave or other cocktail mixers. She was the bartender extraordinaire of the evening. For food, we ordered the half dozen chicken wings (2 orders since they were so good) and the pizza empanadas to start. The two empanadas had mozzarella cheese stuffed inside and were served with a warm marinara. From the main menu, we ordered the Faroe Island Salmon, which was served on a bad of risotto and tomato butter, with capers. The portion of the salmon was somewhat small for the price of $28, but it and the risotto were cooked perfectly. We ended the night with their signature drink, "Death in the Afternoon" which contains absinthe and is one of my favorite drinks here in Orlando. It was another five star experience and my friend found a new restaurant she now loves. All in all, a great night thanks to the attentiveness and easy-going attitude of Mel, our server, and the exceptional cocktails from the bartender, Serena. Thank you both for a job very well done!

Our server was very kind and she gave us recommendations for appetizers and my friends chose the garlic bread and the whipped feta. Both were very delicious! The whipped feta had this sweet jam paired with it. I got a tequila cocktail, I forget the name, but it ended up being a little too sweet for my liking. Their little ship had cute Knick knacks and the ambiance was very warm and welcoming! I would love to come back to try more food and cocktails!

An east end market staple - I can't believe this is my first time trying their pizza. The…read moreatmosphere of the venue is a little weird with a bar in the middle of a store and tables to eat and drink at scattered throughout. The layout of the venue made it hard to understand if we should order at the bar or wait for a server. We ended up ordering at the bar individually and just waiting at a table on the side for our food. The server came around a few times to check in and they have several self serve water stations which was nice. We ordered drinks and two pizzas. Our drinks were pretty good and reasonably priced. My pizza was delicious - the regular. I really like the pepperoni and honey combo. My partner got the garden pesto pizza and it was weirdly spicy. The ingredients didn't include anything spicy so it's a mystery why the pizza was so hot. She got some ranch to cool it down which luckily was very yummy. Overall a unique experience and not bad food!

What a way to start the weekend. I had been in shade before just to stop in for a cocktail. I…read morereally enjoyed their espresso martini and the white kimono. But this time, I actually got to dine in for an appetizer and get a different drink. This place is always packed and vibrant and lively. We decided on the place last minute. Definitely recommend making a reservation. We were lucky to get two seats at the bar - the last two in fact. I got the transparency issue and it was what the bartender called "adult juice." it was sweet, but also very light in floral with the rose essence. Great alternative to my usual drink. My friend got the coco craze and WOW! I was impressed. The drink was so tasty and refreshing and yes, it was THC infused. We asked the bartender how much approximately the drink contained and she said about 6 mg for this drink and the other two drinks offered were 5 mg. I would get it next time for sure. I chose to have the pork belly to have a bite, and it was so tasty. The slaw and the pork belly went so well together, and it was a good combo of savory and sweet! On Fridays, they do have a DJ in the evening.I have not been on Saturday or Sunday to confirm if they do then but it definitely adds to the ambiance. She was great! Definitely a nice place to get together with friends, they do offer happy hour for drinks as well as an oyster special on Tuesdays. I know they have brunch menu, so maybe one day I'll be popping in for brunch to check it out.

I recently visited Lamp & Shade on a Thursday evening for a birthday dinner with a group of about…read more15 people. Even with such a large party, the service was very good, and I loved the overall vibe of the restaurant. It's cute, trendy, and definitely a fun spot for dinner and drinks in the Mills 50 area. The menu is tapas-style, and I only tried a couple of dishes--the lettuce wraps and the Caesar salad bites. Let me just say: GET THE CAESAR SALAD BITES! Hands down, they were my favorite and the most memorable thing I had. I would come back just to order those again. The lettuce wraps, on the other hand, left a little more to be desired. I ordered them because I was trying to keep things on the lighter side, but they were very simple and didn't come with any type of sauce, so I felt like they could have used a little something extra. For my drink, I had a glass of Albariño, which I enjoyed. Overall, I think I would personally lean toward Lamp & Shade more for the drinks, atmosphere, and social vibe than the food, but I'd definitely come back--and those Caesar salad bites are absolutely getting ordered again. One thing to keep in mind is parking. There isn't a dedicated parking lot for the restaurant, so parking in the Mills 50 area can be limited. Your options will likely be street parking or valet. Overall, I'd recommend checking Lamp & Shade out, especially if you're looking for a cute spot for drinks, small plates, or a group night out. And seriously...don't skip the Caesar salad bites!
