There was only one person dining in as this corner coffee shop is on the smaller side. I ordered a blended mocha, which didn't take long to get. Diva is a good spot for a quick bite to eat or a nice place to do your work. When it's lunch time or people are going to Diva for their break after a training they had in the Chinook building, it can get busy. They have a small selection of common coffee and latte drinks, and tea as well. I ordered their Spring special drink- Spring Buzz a lavender and honey latte. You can definitely taste the light floral taste and the sweetness of the honey, but it was not over powering. I also picked up a salad from their fridge. It was about $7ish for their salads. Not sure if they make it in house or it's shipped here from a local deli place. The atmosphere of the coffee shop is nice. It has a cozy feeling and warm ambience which I love. As the Duke of Diva, I've been here a lot. The coffee is great, the espresso is good, the staff are dynamite. The food is decent but pre-made, the baked goods usually offer gluten free options and a few token apples are usually near the cashier. The location is in the lobby of a government building, so I think they close early (5pm?) and are not open on the weekends. There is a lot of traffic and often meetings happening at all the tables which gives it a totally different feel than your typical Seattle cafe. The line gets long in the morning, and it gets a little confusing as it double backs on itself but you'll get through it eventually. All-in-all, a nice friendly spot AND if you're looking to rub elbows with local government officials, this is your spot! read more

Just opened! They're accessible just off the lobby of the Smith Tower, so it's perfect for office monkeys like me, or people needing a little caffeine before heading up to the building's observation deck. Friendly staff, a pastry case of fresh goodies, and a pretty darn good latte. They had a selection of gluten-free and vegan pastries as well. I really enjoyed my ham, cheese, and egg breakfast sandwich and chai tea. The chai tea was spot on and very frothy, which was wonderful. The sandwich was a panini and was very tasty. Best coffee shop in the Chinook building! ..also the only one. The staff is friendly, the food is somewhat varied and okay, the drinks are served fresh and the seating is sturdy and well-lit. Not the sort of place to sit and study or read for hours, but a good enough place to stop in if you need a last minute bite to eat or quick caffeine fix. Friendly baristas, but s-l-o-w as molasses; I've occasionally met up w/a friend who works in the building, and we've burned up most of our coffee break standing in a painfully-slow-moving line. To exacerbate things, the pastries are inexplicably off to the side, away and not visible from the line. Great spot to grab a hot drink and some snacks, like a scone. Very friendly staff and lots of variety of drinks. There several nice tables and chairs where you can kick back with friends or alone with a book or a laptop. But it's' pretty popular so you might find seating limited. But that's a good sign, right? I went here twice and each time tried a different scone. I noticed both were a little lacking in flavor. Not sure why. I usually get Starbuck's scones and love them. So maybe I'm just used to their product. But there are other options here so see what you think. I have been in a couple of times now and feel I should write something about how much I love this place. I was in a few weeks ago, kind of early, and two guys were working. It was a pleasant awaking how much these two enjoyed working together. They sang aloud to the radio. They were laughing with/at each other. There may have even been some dancing. But none of this got in the way of them making my non-fat vanilla latte to perfection. How original, I know. I was in again today and got another perfect drink. They were a little busier than the last time I was in but service didn't suffer. There were still smiles through the hustle. I am very impressed. Located within the building that I work in, this location is super convenient. Staff is always usually friendly and the coffee is always freshly made and hot. Decor is standard coffee shop which in no way is a bad thing. Prices are a little on the high side especially for the "lunch" items like salads and sandwiches. Someone help this place as it has gone from ok to worse. The newer morning baristas are slowwwww which is very anxiety-inducing for anyone trying to go to work after picking up their morning coffee. The sweet gal that used to cashier (Emma?) has moved and has been replaced with a surly, short-haired younger gal with a patronizing coffee-snob attitude. I witnessed someone this morning trying to order and her slowly yet loudly asking "do.You.know.what.a.cappucino.Is?" I wonder if that person ahead of me ordered a side of rudeness this morning... In terms of the place itself, a couple gripes: the pastry shelving is open which means bugs, employee hair, dust, etc. can fly right in. When I've seen some of the gals lean over the counter to grab hard to reach items, I've witnessed their clothing brush the pastries which are level to their knees. Also, not a huge deal, but they don't have raw sugar packets, it's only in the canister (other sugar types comes in packets here). This isn't very effective when trying to grab & go. Not sure why they don't have the packets, maybe it's more expensive? Anyway, in closing, I could put poor customer service aside for good and/or cheap coffee. The drinks here in my experience are neither good, nor cheap. I strictly go for convenience (in my work building) otherwise, would avoid this place entirely. I only order drip because everything else has been lackluster. When I do have extra time, I make the walk to Starbucks (which should speak volumes considering starbucks coffee isn't all that fab either!). read more

Had an unfortunate experience here today. I came in, bought a cup of coffee, and asked the barista if they had wifi. He says they do, and explained the password was listed on little cards at each table. In short, the wifi didn't work at all (on my phone or laptop), and when I brought this up, he didn't care to do much to fix it. I have been there a few times over the past few years. Each time the service is slow, employees are too busy talking to the people they know. The last and final straw was when they forgot to make my drink again. I stopped going for coffee. More recently i started stopping 3 times a week for an apple fritter in the mornings. They cost 1.95 when they have them. Yesterday, i went in and she said it would be 3.01. WHAT? I was told they are trying out a new vendor. We'll I should have saved my money. It was the worst apple fritter i've ever had. They used a wheat type dough and i'm not sure what else besides apples was in it. They have now lost all of my business. The only nice thing i have to say is: There was a very nice young man who worked the register. I don't know his name but at least he was the nicest person there. read more

Stopped in today and found the staff to be indifferent toward customers, if not annoyed with them: "Dang -- what's with these people wanting pastries and beverages? The nerve!" A coffee shop needs to have 1) great coffee; 2) good atmosphere; and 3) fast friendly service. My big knock on the Seattle coffee scene is the painfully pokey service at most bars.
