My husband likes the crispy duck, but I wasn't a huge fan of fish sauce taste. My husband and I moved to Seattle a few weeks ago and I've already eaten here a numerous amount of times. This place is located right on 45th street and there is a little parking lot behind the restaurant. If you can find street parking, I think that would be best. We ordered a samurai pad thai which was pad thai with shrimp tempura, a pad see ew with chicken, and green curry with chicken. Each of these dishes are delicious and flavorful. My favorite would have to be the pad see ew. The chicken is always cooked just right and the taste is so yummy! I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. read more

This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. I live in the neighborhood, I'm not with a delivery service. I order, they tell me a time, I show up at that time, the order isn't ready. The first time it was 20 mins past when they told me. The second tome was 30 mins. I'm here again a 3rd time and going on 40 mins past the time and counting. I asked for an update? "2 mins," they said. That was 20 mins ago. I understand being busy, but they set pretty poor expectations. I'm bummed because I live a block away and it's close for me. If you are looking for a great Thai meal, this is a must try. The cozy restaurant, which appears to be a retro-fitted old house, gives this restaurant and intimate charm. Comfortable atmosphere and great service only serve to aid in a great dining experience. Recommendation: the Red Curry with chicken and a side of brown rice. The curry was absolutely fantastic! Expertly done, and the portion was very generous. Also, the Pineapple Fried Rice is certainly worth mentioning. This is the place I usually go when I get dinner with one of my girl-friends. I think it's cause she loves their Japanese Seaweed Soup (and so do I)... In any case.... we have been here at least three times and always been the only ones there (with MAYBE one table and a few pick-up orders while we eat). Our favorite thing to do is to order a few different dishes (usually an appetizer, the soup, and an entree) and share them. So far we have liked or loved everything we've had. The staff is pretty hands off, but they have always been pleasant and good at refilling our water. We placed the order at 7 pm. We called grub hub at 8 pm to ask them to check on the order and after talking to Djan they told us the order will be delivered in the next 20 minutes. Delicious! I went here last night with my boyfriend in search of some gluten free pad thai. And I found it! Their pad thai is naturally gluten free (no soy sauce, I asked!) and super tasty. I wanted to wait until this morning to review, since I'm always a little skeptical of things being gluten free, but hooray no symptoms! (I have celiac, but I'm not super sensitive, so I can't speak to cross contamination.) The waitress was very knowledgable about what was gluten free, informing me that the fresh rolls were made with wheat, but that all their curries are gluten free and all their soups could be as well. I placed an online order for two sides of rice. When I arrived, the hostess grabbed a bag with one carton in it and attempted to charge me for a single side of rice. I showed her the email on my phone showing that not only have I already paid, but I order two. She proceeded to tell me that it was a "large carton for two." I'm left feeling like the kitchen just didn't notice the quantity (which is fine, mistakes happen!) and the hostess decided to lie about it rather than double check and fix it (not fine). On another visit, I dined in with friends and family. There were four of us and for some reason all of our food came out with large gaps of time in between (like 5 minutes). Which is why it took us so long to realize that the server didn't even put in my order. In fact he didn't seem to have remembered that I ordered anything in the first place. My oh my, what Thai! Lovely, tasty fresh spring rolls made differently, but delicious. Ate the Joy duck club - red curry. I've never seen or tasted this before - so flavorful and very deep flavors. Just no... I just ordered takeout from Djan's (about an hour ago) and WOW, so disappointing! I rarely give less than 3 stars but I just have nothing positive to say about my takeout order... maybe in house dining is better but I'm not sure if I can give it another try with the quality of the dish I just had to endure. I called in and ordered the Spicy Basil Leaves with Chicken - 3 stars. When I came to pick up the order, I was greeted promptly, food was piping hot and the restaurant itself looked inviting and honestly, really cute! For this I added an additional star to my initial 1 star review. When I got home I was super excited to try my dish (since i've heard excellent things about this place). When I opened the container I first noticed it was 2 stars, not 3 (as written on the top of the container, and also verified on the receipt). No big deal. Then I noticed there was NO basil... WHAT?! Thats why I ordered the dish to begin with! I usually order curry or pas see ew, very rarely order a stir fry, but I was intrigued because I love basil. Then I thought... no way there is literally no basil in here... so I dumped the container out onto a plate and yep, I was right... NO BASIL. Green onion, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, but NO basil. WTF?! Then I noticed as the sauce started to separate, the insane amount of oil in the dish. I don't mind a little oil, a little fat, i'm not picky... but when my mouth is coated in oil after each bite... I draw the line. Overall the flavor was maybe ok (minus the longing for basil in a basil chicken dish) but it was hard to enjoy with every bite of chicken and veg soaked in oil. Randomly stopped in for lunch. I came in shortly after open and their tables were already covered with take out orders; a good sign. The restaurant is in a converted house and the dining area is cozy with an additional outside patio. Jazz music played in the background which tied the eclectic ambiance together well. The food was really good. I think let the soup sit too long and the nice coconut flavor became overpowered by tomato. The gyoza shell was a little over cooked, but not terribly (maybe that's how they serve it??). The main dish was fantastic. Perfect balance of spice and sweet (I did level 4 of 5 which definitely had spice). I am not in this area often, but will definitely come here again if I am. Food was fresh with fresh vegetables and the single server managed the floor well as more people came in. Very good value too. I was in search of an asian restaurant with a private room (for 8) for a family dinner, so i wanted to try their foods beforehand.They had a cresent room and a moon shine room upstairs for a private party. Contrary to previous yelper's review, they charge 30$ fee to the crescent (smaller) room for the order of under $150. We tried appetizer plate and djan house noodles. Appetizer plate came with crab wontons, gyoza, fried tofu, and spring rolls and they were all mediocre. ( three of each selections came out in one plate). Mixed noodle taste okay but we felt like noodles were overcooked and bit soggy. When we tried to eat them with chopsticks, the noodles kept on breaking. I am not sure about lunch time, but when we went at dinner time(6:30-7:30) the restaurant was pretty empty. It was just us and one more table. The atmosphere they offer-quiet and cozy yet modern- was the best part of the restaurant. Personally, i dont think this place isn't a much of an amazing food type of a place. read more

Pretty sure I reviewed this place about 10 years ago and it has finally fallen away...but went again earlier this year in February before COVID hit the fan, and I must say it's still mighty impressive. A little shabbier and run down than remembered but still fantastic food and great ambiance. It's pretty quick, consistently delicious and offers generous portion sizes (enough for me to have for lunch the next day). Dinner last night, four adults. First time for all. Sweet, small dinning establishment. Looks clean and inviting. We had the table by the window. Started with an ok wine glass at Happy Hour prices even though it was Sunday. Then spring rolls and pot stickers for appetizers. They were ok. Nothing special. My main dish was spicy eggplant with meat and it was delicious. Pad Thai was another excellent dish. Husband devoured his meat and cashew main. The dish not like able was the green curry tofu. Dining in at Djan''s is good stuff. It's homey, inexpensive, and the food is fresh and tasty. The red curry chicken as well the pad thai fusion I ordered both hit the spot. I didn't eat all of both because I was sharing with my special honey, but damn if I didn't want to! On the downside, the lemon water tastes a little funny, the Thai iced teas are a bit too sugary, but these gripes are merely nit-picking. I enjoyed myself and so did the little woman. At the time my food was supposed to be delivered, I got a call that they were canceling my order since I used the wrong menu. I get it, I made a mistake.
