This is our go to restaurant when coming to Seattle to visit friends. The food is good! The spice level is true to spice and the amount is perfect. I usually get the green curry with vegetables and the vegetables are good quality and good types with no filler junky veggies. The pad Thai is yummy as well! They give a lot of tofu, if you don't want an abundant of it, please let them know. I would say everything is pretty good and tasty from here. We got takeout from this place via Doordash, and let me tell you, it was not good at all! The pad thai was very bland and really among the worst I've had. The veggie panang curry only had a few green and red peppers in it and that was it. These dishes definitely didn't look like the pictures. How is it rated close to 4 stars? Delicious traditional Thai food. The Pad Thai is soft but not sloppy, and it is richly accompanied with just the right amount of spice.

I got the fried calamari and the khao soi with chicken and spicy level 3/5. The fried calamari was the best I'd had in recent memory due to the perfect batter crunchiness and the supple and tasty cooked squid. My friends also ordered the fried tofu and it was quite good too. The khao soi was flavorful and the portion size was slightly superior to the other Thai place I'd had recently, Secret Savory. They're both great establishments, no complaints. Overall the service was fast, food was stellar, and the parking was easy on a weekday 7pm since it wasn't crowded. I would definitely come back another time. read more

Probably my favorite Thai place in the area. Great Happy Hour menu Great lunch specials A little more on the spendy side, but you get what you pay for. The food is very good. Lunch: Combo meals are great and served until 3pm! Nearly enough food for two meals! It did make me a little sad that there are only certain combos available each day. Dinner: A little more pricey than most Thai restaurants in the area but overall have not had a single item I didn't care for. Value = good. It's difficult for me to try new Thai spots, but I'm so glad that I finally did. The food is excellent but on top of that, the owner is the kindest person ever and the overall experience was so enjoyable. First of all, let's discuss how adorable this spot is. It's one of those converted homes that totally match the charming and idyllic feel of Wallingford. I ended up taking advantage of the last beautiful warm nights by dining outside in the back patio, which felt like dining in someone's backyard. The only upside to the impending cold weather is that I will then "have" to dine inside the super cute "living room". Now onto the food... Thai food in general is top-notch in the PNW, so it is really hard to compete. However, djan really holds its own! We got the veggie roll and veggie curry puffs to start. They were pretty standard but quite tasty! Then I split the chicken larb salad and the eggplant with chicken with my dining pal. The larb was tasty and fresh, as you would expect. I appreciated that the eggplant stir fry had ample vegetables and tasted delicious! Overall, none of the flavors or combos were new or surprising, but everything was very good if you want solid Thai food. I definitely need to try more! The spring rolls passed the test and were some of the better that I've had. The main course was a noodle stirfry. Lots of ginger garlic, and the perfect amount of heat. Stopped by here on a Sunday night. We couldn't find the parking lot since it's such a small driveway and the signed was not even up. We parked across the street (which has a tow a way sign so don't do that!) when you first walk in, it's rather dark. There isn't allot of seating but apparently there is a bigger room upstairs that can hold more people. My friend and I ordered the garlic chicken and the spicy ocean. My friend asked if she can get the sauce on the side cause she wanted her chicken to be crispy, the server said yes but when it came out it had sauce all over it. She asked about it and then the server said they have never done that (then why did she say yes?) I ordered a level 2 spice on the my dish and holly molly!! I couldn't even eat ITV it was more of a 5! I had to drench it in white rice just to calm it down. I wished I would of known so I can order less spice. The squid was very chewy. Look, I know some of you are only order Pad Thai at Thai restaurants, my wife was the same...but hear me OUT. This place has TO-DIE-FOR green curry and Pad See Ew. The green curry is savory nirvana. With a perfect medley of green beans, bamboo shoots, zucchini, and you choice of protein, it will send you reeling with ecstacy, straight to heaven. The Pad See Ew is on a whole nother level, I order level three spicy and I SWEAR on your unborn child or born child that after my first taste, I meet Beelzebub, the Prince of Hell himself. The succulent, fat noodles caresses the stir fry down your gullet with effortless ease. The dish is the definition of umami, and I don't even know what that is. So were you listening? I'm really not happy & very disappointed that I chose this restaurant last night to host my birthday party in. I've had good experiences here from a party before: the space was roomy and beautiful, food was great, and we had excellent service. Based on that experience, I made a few calls with specific requests, asked for the same room, paid all deposits, and was really looking forward to a nice experience. However, unbeknownst to me, they have a newer owner now; and what a difference that apparently makes. I was pissed as hell to find that instead of getting the nice, larger space I had before (despite providing a final head count so they knew in advance), we were crammed into the smaller space, which was garish and offered no comfort, much less a nice atmosphere. The bigger room with wood work was used as storage. Tables were piled on top of each other and was in no way easily made usable. In addition, I had asked more than once for there to be an extra table "for the cake and presents." I wanted to be able to display the beautiful cake I had made for the occasion, as well as the many presents I put A LOT of effort in preparing for each of my friends. Also, as it was my birthday, they had gifts for me. It was an important part of my planning (which again, was SPECIFIED), and as such, a pretty major omission. I was seriously unhappy to see the state of my best made plans; but my guests were arriving little by little, and it just felt like it was too late now. Unfortunately, it continued to just get worse. We had only one server, who basically let us know that NO ARRANGEMENTS had been made. He wasn't even aware a party was happening. So they basically slap dashed a long table together in the ugliest space possible & called it good. He did his best and made a shit ton in tips; (he got $70 from me alone); but it was terrible service simply b/c it was beyond what one server could handle. The kitchen was also unprepared & our food came out piece mail, horribly timed, cold, and not very good in my opinion. He forgot items & had to be reminded of beverages. Previously, we had at least 2-3 servers, and could order in courses. This time was a total disaster, and it seemed we were eating in stages instead of together. They were also already sold out of the app I did want. And another selection was also not possible. I wanted to pay the bottle fee (for the champagne I brought) to keep it off the bill for my guests to absorb. But I was refused and they ended up paying for it despite my several attempts at that goal. Frustration after frustration-there was literally nothing enjoyable in anything they provided. Ultimately, I made arrangements to support a space on my birthday & ended up making the best of a bad situation. I eventually had to give up any expectation of being what I wanted & had specified; and instead focused on enjoying the company of my friends. Tuck in a cozy little house in Wallingford area you find this amazing flavorful gem ! Fare warning parking is difficult but well worth it and seating is limited so plan ahead. Got three dishes there an amazing Tom Kha Soup with chicken, Basil Krapao Chicken & Fried Egg, and the spicy seafood stir fry. FAVORITE THAI RESTAURANT!!!!!! I am a HUGE fan of Thai food. Ever since I was introduced to Thai food as an undergrad, it has always been my go to comfort food. I've literally been to so many Thai restaurants. Thaiger Room, POP POP Thai, Thai Tom's, Thai Thai Kitchen, Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen, Bai Tong, etc etc. I've been to them all and MORE. & EVERY TIME I come back to Djan. They don't skimp on the filling and they get the wonton so perfectly crispy. It's almost worth making the trip here just for these LOL. Pad See Yew: Literally my favorite Thai dish and Djan's is the best. They just do that deep sweet and spicy sauce RIGHT. Penang Curry: FLAVOR BOMB! & perfect texture. Not too watery. Not too thick. I was hanging out at a local coffee shop in Wallingford called The Muddy Cup, and wanted a quick dinner prior to going down to OmCulture for ecstatic dance. This Thai spot was right next door, and provided an excellent, healthy, high quality sit-down dinner experience that was very affordable. I'm super grateful for the amazing service, the lovely dim ambiance and cute decor (fresh carnations in a little juice glass), and for the awesome server who chased me down on the street to give me back my credit card after she processed it and she forgot to give it back (and I didn't realize I hadn't grabbed it). Very sweet of her to the corner after me in the freezing weather. The Thai iced tea is awesomely sweet, and the gyoza tastes amazing - crunchy and yummy! read more

Every time I take the bus to Wallingford I always pass by this little white house and think, "I should try this Thai place out sometime." Today was finally the day. Although the interior of the dining room was quite cute, the food and overall experience didn't work out for me. Inside the house is a simplistic, modern home environment. It is very white with wooden chairs that have padded white cushions and wooden tables. It looks more "high-end" than other Thai places with the fork tucked in the tablecloth napkin and the glass goblet cups. It's decorated simplistically with dim lighting. We were seated right away and given lemon water. After looking through the menu we decided to get pad kee mao tofu and the Djan's fusion noodles with chicken. The spiciness scale is from 1-5 like most other Thai places. The food came out quickly; it only took about 5 minutes and these dishes were piping hot. I enjoyed that they were served so hot because it stayed warm throughout the entire meal. First off, the water. This is the first time I've ever had to complain about water at a restaurant. This water, though cold, did not taste good. It tasted like unfiltered tap water with a strange aftertaste because of the lemon. It didn't even taste like lemon at all despite being infused with lemons. When you put the glass to your nose you can smell a subtle lemon fragrance but that does not transfer into the taste at all. I barely even drank any water because of the taste and I rejected when our waiter asked us if we would like more water. Next, the pad kee mao. I was actually pretty impressed with the kee mao. Mine was spiced at level 3 and boy did it have a spicy hit. I could definitely feel it in my chest. I enjoyed the flavor of the kee mao and the amount of vegetables that I got with it. I thought they did a great job on the seasoning and the basil flavor. I thought the tofu pieces were adequate and the cooked green beans was something different that I haven't seen in kee mao before. However, I didn't enjoy the raw piece of onion that I bit into, nor did I enjoy some of the big chunks of vegetables. The tomato pieces were huge, there was an onion that was clearly not chopped because it fanned out like a blooming flower and the bell pepper could use a couple more chops. It was oilier and a bit more greasy than other places as well. Lastly, the Djan's fusion noodle. This is a mix between pad thai and kee mao. It's hard to really pinpoint the flavor and is one of those things that you have to try to know the flavor of. It does have the sweetness from the basil and the noodles are the ones used in pad thai. The chicken was tender but the vegetables in this dish also needed extra chopping. Some of the cabbage pieces were larger than they needed to be. My partner got this at a 5 star spice level but his spice barely came through. Strangely enough, my kee mao at 3 stars was spicier than his 5 star. Although I tip my hat to their efforts in fusing two popular Thai dishes, I'm not sure if I really adore this fusion flavor. Price wise, this Thai place is much more expensive than the others on University District. The portion size is pretty generous but I've seen similar portion sizes at places such as Little Thai and Banana Leaf. Each noodle dish is around $11 and does not include rice. If you would like a side of rice it costs $2. This is more expensive than most places since noodle dishes are typically around $7-8 and a side of rice is around $1. The total for both dishes was a little more than $24. For the meal we received, I don't think it was worth the price. I left Djan's really thirsty and wanting something cold and icy to drink. Hopefully they can fix their water problem because most customers would like to drink water with their meal. read more

I have never set foot in Djan but my office regularly has lunch delivered from here, and their delivery service is awesome. I also like how they wrap foil around their noodles from the lunch menu so they're fresh when when I eat them. I personally haven't found many good Thai restaurants in Seattle but almost everything I have tried here so far is delicious. Their phad thai to me is one of the better ones I've had in the city. These noodles are cooked just right, its not saucy and the flavors are balanced. The lychee cheesecake, although it seems like they just dumped lychees on top, is good. I think it's worth the splurge once in awhile. I also like their red curry and pad see ew, which unfortunately is only offered as a dinner dish not as a lunch special. However, the prices for lunch have gone up recently so I don't feel as guilty when I want to order pad see ew. The only dish I was not too crazy with was their fusion noodles, which are a mix of phad thai and phad kee mao. I'm not sure what it was about the taste of it but it's definitely something I won't crave. In terms of spice level, they lean on the higher side. I was pleasantly pleased when I order 3 stars on my meals, they actually have a nice kick to them. read more

Food is good but the service is some of the worst I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Period. The last three or four times I have ordered takeout, they quote me a time and no matter how long I wait, it takes 30-45 minutes to receive my order once I have arrived. It is as though they are waiting until I arrive at the restaurant to start cooking my food. The last time I went I asked them why they could not provide me an accurate timeline as to when the food would be ready, and the person behind the counter scoffed at me and said "do you want the food or your money back?" I took my money and I will not be returning any time soon. I've been eating here for almost a decade and it is quite clear that this restaurant doesn't give a rat's behind about their long term customers. Very sad to see. read more

The food is good, per other reviews, although I regularly get something different than what I ordered. Most notable, though, is that the service is marginally acceptable. Staff turnover is disappointingly high, and English competency is generally weak, to the point of routine order problems. Also, I've been ordering take-out here once a week starting when Covid did, and no one recognizes me or my name. In fact, the current manager is downright unhappy appearing and never smiles or says thank you and even "have a good day" when I walk out.
