We stopped here after dinner for a quick drink. We had a party of about 6 and the bar was pretty quiet since it was a Wednesday night. We didn't order food, so this review is just for the service, atmosphere, and drinks. Are server took quite awhile to come to our table. We thought perhaps the tables didn't have service and that you had to order at the bar. Then, the service continued to be spotty and the drinks took a long time to come out. The atmosphere was good and definitely would be a great location to watch a game but our group ended up leaving early because the entire place was freezing with the AC/fans on high the whole time throughout the whole restaurant. This place was like, a three-minute walk from our hotel, so of course we ate there. It's gigantic, first of all, like a sports bar on steroids. We went in the VERY early evening, so it was mostly empty, save for other people like us with small children who you can't take anywhere past 5pm. I had the southern fried chicken sliders and, holy shit, that was a LOT of food. It came with fries. It was probably all fairly pre-frozen from a truck, but it was really nice for what it was. My wife had a taco salad as big as an air-craft carrier, and my daughter (who is almost two) mostly ate mustard. We all enjoyed our food, and the server was friendly and the prices were more than fair for the amount of food that was thrust upon you. I know we sometimes get hung up on what is grass-fed and what has been artesinally butchered; but sometimes, it's just nice to eat a whole bunch of fucking fake-ass meat chunks that have been deftly deep fried and slathered in mayo. Great for what it's intended to be....a sports viewing venue. If there's a big game you want to watch somewhere other than your living room, this is the place to do it. If you want to watch some obscure sports broadcast, something tells me they could find it and get it on one of their screens...and they have LOTS of screens. TV screens, every size (several are enormous) cover LITERALLY every inch of the walls. Noise level is a little higher than some places because of this but you didn't come for the conversation anyway. We were here for the Nebraska and Creighton 2014 Basketball tournament games and it was standing room only+. Amazingly we never ran out of beer or food at our table, despite the obviously service-taxing size of the crowd. (Good job wait staff and bartenders!) Wide selection of beers and the menu is better than you'd expect-way more than your typical fried "bar food" selections. I recommend any of the burgers or the chicken sandwich with pineapple. Fries are thick cut, flavorful and HOT when they come out-no skinny sticks here. Great location to meet up before or after your downtown events. read more

Recently I got a chance to try some of their food options which definitely brought them up a few notches on my radar. They have nice happy hour specials and drink specials which is always a great reason to check a place out. Their buffalo dip is to die for and they offer a wide variety of things if you're planning a corporate event (which is where I finally tried their food). Stopped in here for lunch, and was very pleasantly surprised...sometimes places like this can be a real mess, other times they do a great job...For me, DJ's has what I now consider one of the best burgers I've ever had...It's called The Hangover Burger and if you've never tried it, your missing out...It's a burger with bacon, egg,and if you get it Spicy, then they throw jalapenos, spicy chipotle mayo/sauce and pepper jack cheese on it...Naturally this is how I ordered it...It almost brought tears to my eyes, though that may have been the jalapenos...I also got onion rings with it which were actually quite good...Couldn't have been happier with the meal...the server, Jessica, was also quite friendly and pleasant...I would most definitely come back here... read more

I had a very positive experience at DJs dugout. I was staying at the Marriott across the street and had missed lunch with my corporate group. It was the middle of the day on Saturday with all TV's with baseball games going on. My server came to my table quickly I ordered the steak. The salad came out and it looked as if it had been freshly made and tasted great, the steak and the fries were cooked perfectly along with the steamed vegetable. I was NOT expecting much but this place honestly exceeded all of my expectations. And my server is very friendly and actually funny. Did I mention that the steak was $13.99? It was a very good deal. Me and my wife came to watch the Husker game last Saturday and was this place packed. They were obviously very under staffed and the the place seemed very hectic. We usually have been going to the Aksarben location because things seem to run more smoothly, and the servers are more on their game, but wanted to try Downtown one more time. However on Saturday our server Katie was the hardest worker we've ever seen. No ones drinks got ever empty, always had the biggest smile and best attitude. We also saw her hauling dish tubs, carrying ice buckets,delivering trays of food to all over the restaurant, and never did we have to wonder where she was if we needed something. Darwin, you need to hire more servers like her! We will definitely be back and try to sit in Katie's section! read more

Brought my wife and two kids here on a Saturday afternoon, and we waited an hour and a half for our food. I was ready to walk out at the hour mark but my wife convinced me to stay. Other folks felt the same, and one employee told a customer to be patient or leave. Not long after they were turning folks away at the door because they were so overwhelmed, not because they were at max capacity. This is a great place to watch your sports. There were lots of passionate fans on both Saturday and Sunday watching the various games. I just think the food and drink could use improvement. There was only one selection of a local brew on tap. The chicken fingers tasted like there was more breading than meat. Cole slaw was okay. If I could give zero stars I would. I really don't know where to begin here. From beginning to end it was an awful experience. We had to go find a server to help us, waited a good 20 minutes for our drinks, then another 20 minutes to order, then another 30 minutes to get our food. Speaking of food, we had to inform the server that 3 of the meals were nowhere to be found...and we never did receive them. To repeat...3 PEOPLE DIDN'T EAT. They took our order by family, so we could pay by family, and then when it came time to pay they had no way of dividing the checks up by family. All of this and we had to ASK for an apology. Her apology was less than sincere and when we asked to speak to the manager she said the manager "was in Florida." We will not be returning. Ever. read more

I really don't know how they keep opening new locations. It must just be because of all the tv's and people coming in for those. Normally we avoid this place at all costs but a friend of a friend's band was playing so we went. We hadn't ate dinner yet so we decided to just share an order of nachos. After the waitress finally showed up (after sitting there for almost five minutes) we ordered drinks and the nachos. We could have gotten better nachos from Taco Bell. There was hardly any ground beef on them and the cheese they use is so bad and put off so much grease all but a couple chips were soggy. The only good part of them were the jalapeños, which they piled on. I'm pretty sure the salsa they serve on the side is a generic version of Pace. This is a serious sports bar. While sports bars are not really my thing, if you want to hang out and take in a game (or quite possibly ALL the games!) then this is the place for you downtown. The place is wide open with with a smaller send level and ample tables and bar seating. Come by yourself or with a big group and they will have you covered. I did not try out any of the food when I stopped in, but having been to other locations over the years, expect average 'bar food'. They had just an okay selection of beer, but let's face it, you are here for the games. TV's and giant screens abound here so they have you totally covered. Overall, it's a true sports bar not pretending to be anything else. If that's your thing, then give it a try. read more

Horrible service and horrible food!! My coworkers and I ordered food and appetizers. Appetizer came really late right before our dinner. The waitress respond to late appetizers was (we are very busy and we have a lot of orders) the place was 70% empty. Our dinner came really late we waited about 30min. I love the bar manager and love the food, the service is usually amazing! Until they hired Dawn(I got her name from the Keno ticket so this could be wrong, tattoos, reddish hair) and she seems to have an attitude. Now I dont usually write reviews, matter of fact I had to download this app to even be to the point of writing this. We come because we love to drink, and especially love to play Keno, she expressed to us the first time we were there after she tot hired that "they dont have Keno where she is from" and clearly from her actions and acting like she is too good to go over to the keno corner, she doesnt like it. So that was the first time, the second time I brought a friend to your business, she also thought Dawn was acting too good and having an attitude towards us. I like to go somewhere and stay there but I didnt have a problem that night with leaving to go elsewhere so I paid my tab and went to a whole new bar. She seems to not have such an attitude to male customers she gets along with, but weve seen her be rude to men too. So this time we went and she was in the middle of helping us with Keno as a ticket for a drink order was printing and she said that she had to go do that, I didnt get to play Keno for probably another 10 mins and then she replayed my tickets because the bar manager was behind the bar at this point and she didnt want to look bad. I've heard awesome things about Dj's, however that was not at all what I experienced. Went here on a slow night and had terrible service. I'm going to guess they were understaffed and poorly managed. Our server seemed to be the only one on the floor and newer to the restaurant. (Didn't know menu or other basic information about the restaurant) The manger was seen but only to be gossiping with other patrons. Unfortunately, she did not step up and help our server. The bartender didn't put a lime in the corona so I went to the bar for one and she dug her hand in the fruit tray and proceeded to hand me the lime to which I politely declined. Food was awful (I got a burger, not usually difficult to screw up) and way overpriced. Will look for other options when I'm in that area again. read more

If you find yourself Downtown, but just have to watch that game, come to DJ's Dugout. I have had some friends and some visitors come with me to DJ's because the other spots we go to didn't have or wouldn't put a specific game on. the last time it was for a Golden State Warriors game that a friend from The city wanted to catch. It wasn't on at upstream or anywhere else so we trekked to Dodge St. and found our way inside. The shear amount of TVs in here is simply amazing. There were many of the screens showing the same game with sound in the lower spot. I asked if we could get the Warriors game on and the guy at the bar put it on 3 HUGE screens, but it felt isolated in the upper back part of the bar. It worked for about ten minutes, but we were invisible to the young lady that was to wait on us. We conceded and sat in the lower main floor section and settled for a smaller screen with no sound. The food is just above mediocre and there is almost nothing for an Herbivore. the beer selection is also pretty lacking, having to settle for a BLVD Pale Ale. Maybe this is what sports folks like, but I don't know. I like the X Games and doubt they would play them on a large screen with sound. I guess that is what the internet is for read more

Has some big pluses for sure. They have every imaginable sport playing all the time. The beer selection is pretty good. The waitstaff has always been pretty courteous and attentive. My real gripe with the place is that the food isn't any good. It's all bar food, which I have no qualms with, but none of it is prepared very well. The fried stuff is usually dry or soggy and the burgers didn't look very good either. I don't hate the place but I won't be suggesting it either. read more

Stopped by DJ's after traveling down to Omaha for a Gophers vs. UNO Hockey Game at the Qwest/CentryLink Center. It's a great place for sports, before the game it was wide open and after the game they had closed off a portion of the bar and turned that portion into a dueling piano bar. Though I didn't eat there, it looked like decent grill/pub fare. The staff was very accommodating to us MN Gopher fans and for that I give them 4 stars! read more
