I needed a trailer hitch replacement for my suburban have rented U-Haul trailers from them in the past and they are present as a family run business decided to give them a try Stopped by told the kid that runs the desk what I needed and that it should be an easy swap he said we need to look at it when can you bring it in made arrangements for it to be there 6/13 @9am dropped it off the night before. No key drop off friend made a 2nd trip with the key and the Mechanic didn't want to look at it! I called asked what's going on you told me to drop it off and it wasn't checked out. He said we don't do hitches! What do you mean you don't do hitches you told me to drop it off this was a big waste of time. Kid said you're wasting time now and hung up! I am going to keep this short. I went there for a second time, because my first time there was decent. I do read reviews, but do not believe all the bad ones like that. I know some people just like to bad mouth businesses for no reason or for small things, but I WILL NEVER GO TO DKC AGAIN I TELL U!!! I had a list of things that needed to be done on my car a while ago this year. They got the list done, but they did two things incorrectly on my car; and it is major. The mechanic cannot weld, my exhaust needs to be looked at and welded again. lastly, they put the wrong weight engine oil in my car that is not recommended by my manual, all while overfilling it too. They are incompetent, unorganized, and unprofessional. The BBB needs to investigate this business and read others reviews. Update: I went to a different shop to report the toxic fumes I am breathing while behind the wheel and to inspect the exhaust system for problems. They told me that If DKC used the metal clamps that was already on the exhaust system before taken off the metal claps and welding it, this would of never happened. They also said that stainless steel is hard to weld. Who ever did this is a NOVICE or a fool. They told me I need a new one, because its ruined. I went to DKC and told one of the workers about the problem, and that I need money for a whole new exhaust system or for DKC to replace it. He said that he will have the owner contact me. I texted the owner and left a message or two. He called me and I missed the call so, I called him back. The owner answered my call and all I got was cursed out. I bought a truck from this guy and let me tell you he's a low life scumbag. It's a lot easier to make money if your being honest hints the reason he went from having 3 car lots in the area to only 1 in the last year. The one he owns now is the oil changer on Kennedy drive not even a car lot. I really hope he catches a charge over what he's done as it is a federal offense. The odometer on my truck says 84,000 miles but upon further inspection on the truck it has well over that. just recently I looked at the spare key and randomly the tag on it says 197,000. I'm guessing that's the actual mileage from when I bought it. My girlfriend also bought a car from him and both times we had problems because he sent the bank the wrong mileage so they had to redo the loan. He sent the paperwork to the bank on my truck saying it had 7,000 miles. Which is way off for a 2007 truck but maybe that's how he gets away with it. The bank even called and asked if this particular person asked me for more money for a down payment after the fact. He did the agreement was 1,500 down and I pay him another 500 later but wrote that the down payment was only 1,500. I could go on and on but needless to say this guys a fraud and I hope he does time for what he's done to innocent people. I recently had a horrible interaction with the owner of this business. He slandered me in front of customers as I asked him about my car door handle that they were suppose to order months ago. They replaced my door handle over the summer, which broke 3 months later. I called them and they told me "no problem, we will fix it at no charge to you". I went in over the weekend per their request to refresh their memories on what the issue was with the car, though I had previously brought it in 3 months before for them to diagnose it (apparently they do not keep records). They then stated that the part will be in in 3-5 days. I went today and was very rudely spoken to and sworn at by the owner when I asked if I found the part, would they reimburse me. He continued with "well I didn't break it, we are not doing this job for free". I explained that I was told that it would be covered. I then asked another man in the office for the name of the owner and that is when the one swearing at me told me he is the owner, I asked his name, he refused to tell me and then told me to go ahead and report him, stating everybody says that to him but nobody does it. I was able to google his name. Fast forward one day later, I brought the car to another mechanic who stated that when DKC fixed it, they put it together wrong so the cable came loose. No parts were needed and it is now good as new. HUGE waste of time with DKC. They should have known how to do this when I brought the car back after the second time not working. If you are looking for an expeditiously fast oil change, I can personally vouch for DKC Auto Repair in Putnam, CT. The gentleman who worked on my vehicle finished it in just 19 minutes which impressed me greatly. I waited a few days to post a review to verify my car was happy with the fluid exchange, and it surely was. Everything drives smooth as would be expected after such a procedure. I know from experience that getting such a fast oil change is exceedingly rare. This was definitely the slickest lube maintenance I've ever had! Price was reasonable. These guys are all awesome. From Cory the manager to Nelson and Adriane (who worked on my car). I drive an Audi A4 and it is just expensive to fix. My power steering rack went and the whole thing needed to be replaced. These guys really helped me out big time. Not too expensive either. I highly recommend them. Brought my Chrysler T & C in as the front blower had stopped working. I was told that I needed a new blower, a pigtail ($200), and a resister. Add on labor charges w/o taxes included and the price was almost $600. Told garage to hold off due to the high cost and had a friend look at the blower. The pigtail had not been reinserted and with a little bit of adjustment, in less than five minutes it was fixed costing me nothing!! BEWARE!!! read more

Where do I begin? First I had to have my muffler replaced. I was quoted $320-350! Ok I bring it in and had the muffler replaced but couldn't afford to have the whole exhaust system replaced so I asked them to just replace the muffler and make it sound better, they obliged however they never welded the pipe! I call and go back to have it fixed a second time!! I waited while they supposedly welded the pipe! Now I get home and said to myself this doesn't sound like they did the job right!! Sure enough I brought it to the person I thought was the owner and he said he called down to the shop and bitched them out for not doing what he said to do!! So they say third times a charm and they fixed it and apologized! Now, weeks later my struts went and I basically went through the three strike rule again except this time it was going to cost more money (there's a story within a story here)! I flipped!! Why couldn't they get it right the first time? So now to add insult to injury less than two months later my freaking rear axle breaks and I bring it to them and they told me it might take 8 to 14 hours to fix @ $85 an hour!!! My wife and I almost had a stroke! In the meantime a friend who's a mechanic says he'll replace the axle for $200-250 so obviously I bring it to him! I have another friend who located a used axle from Georgia with only 60 k miles on it for a reasonable $170! Now I'm excited that I'm going to save hundreds! The axle came in on a Tuesday afternoon and by Wednesday evening it was done!!! Wow!! However the friend who did the job sends me a message and asks if I want him to put the driver side shock on right side up! They put the shock on upside down!!!! Are you kidding me they just replaced the shocks, struts and muffler for around $1300 now they want big bucks to replace the axle that my friend did in less than 5 hours!! I guess I got lucky this time, but I honestly don't think I'll be going back anytime soon, unless I want to spend all my time wondering and waiting and going back and forth!! I think I'm going to go to school and learn how to fix my vehicles myself!! It might be cheaper for tuition!!! read more
