The quote also happened to be the cheapest of the 3 companies I got bids from. - The installation went very smoothly. I understand that direct vent water heaters are a little tricky to install, but Brandon installed perfectly. He arrived on time, got rid of our old water heater, and added a new water heater with several fixes: the overflow pipe now runs to the sink, he used a "flex vent" kit so the water heater can sit on the ground, and he put the water heater in a tray to reduce issues from slow leaks since I don't have a basement drain. - After the install, Brandon taught me how to change the temp / turn the water heater off / how to flush it / how to change the anode rod. Very pleased with the work and my new water heater is working flawlessly. The only downside was that there was no permit. I'm no expert on permits. Portland's website says that water heater changes require a permit. Brandon said it's a "gray area" for residential. I am not planning on selling the house and things looked good to me, so I don't mind too much.

They send a guy over, I tell him the garbage disposal doesnt work, he opens the door, snaps a photo of it, and tells me it is broken. I asked didn't he want to try to turn it on. He goes, 'Oh yeah' and I turn it on. Makes that noise when the disposal is stuck but the motor is running. He immediately tells me that it is broken and must be replaced and provides me an estimate: $1200 !!! Now ,mind you, I'm a disabled veteran trying at the same time to take care of my wife who is lying on the couch. She is bed ridden there after two heart attacks and a chronic heart flutter. I sign something tell him to get the parts and he is off. I did not trust this guy at all so I called another plumber, told him the problem. He asked me if it was leaking; I said no. He told me it didn't need replaced and that all I had to do was get this special alan wrench for garbage disbosals and instructed me on how to use it. I bought it, (thank you same day Amazon) and did as he told me. It worked-there was a washrag jammed in there. The disposal works. Do NOT use this company especially if you are elderly. I'm 66. I have read several reviews on this site where they have tried to scam elderly people by charging them way over what it should cost to do the repairs. Again DO NOT USE THEM.
