I did not use a mat or soft wheel casters for my office chair, and so damaged laminate in one of my rooms, but even this took 8 years. All other rooms are still doing fine with some years left to go, with only the dining room showing some bubbling, which is fully expected for mid-range laminate installed almost a decade ago. After numerous attempts to follow up, and being told that I would be seeing something the next day and then never getting anything, I think I'm done. It's been over a month and I still haven't seen anything Apollo: you have my information. If you want to attempt to make it right like you are saying in your response, go for it. That's not why you should hire Mike & Mike...well not the only reason, because their work is top notch. The biggest reason you should hire them (and I absolutely acknowledge I'm an old man yelling "get off my lawn!" here) is "honesty and integrity." These guys come from the old school of standing by your work and letting it speak for itself. My wife really wanted a fridge with an ice maker but the house we moved into didn't have a water line for that. I was trying to get an idea of what it would cost to have one installed so we could decide whether it was within our budget so we could pick a fridge and move forward with our lives. You would seriously not believe how hard that was. I made it abundantly clear to everyone I talked to that I knew they couldn't give me a binding estimate without actually seeing the project, and I begged for just a guess at a range...would this be somewhere between $200 - $2,000, am I looking at more like $10,000? Am I going to need another mortgage for this? I talked to probably 20 different handymen. 19 of them pretended they had no idea what it might cost and wouldn't even give a ballpark or a range without sending someone into my home so they could use their high-pressure sales tactics to make sure they got my business. They had either never done a job like this before, in which case I didn't want them, or they were lying to me, in which case I also didn't want them. Mike and Mike were the exact opposite. I asked what they expected it would cost, and they made their best guess and gave me a range of the top and bottom end based on really hard or really easy jobs. They were super flexible and easy to work with, and when the job was done they came in at the very bottom end of what they had estimated. They were on time, quick, super respectful, and my wife is smiling ear-to-ear. So yeah, there's plenty of handymen you could hire who will probably do a great job. The crew came over on time and in professional uniforms. They all put on foot booties before my even asking. They restored my bathroom and my kitchen, onyx floors. These floors were in bad shape, potholes all over and very dull. I didn't want to replace them because they are unique. I don't know how they did it, but my floors look brand new. After the installation the floors had multiple gaps thru out the entire floor. They said the only thing they could do is replace the entire floor again. I agree, if that's what they needed to do. I chose a different flooring. Its been over 3 yrs i am still waiting. Did I mentioned I had a 3 yr warranty according to the company. The job done on the stairs was awful. The guy that came to install the flooring on the stairs did a horrible job and also made damaged and stained my walls. Flooring is falling apart, a family member of my slipped and the edge of the steps completely came out. Just the fact that the floors are falling apart and knowing that the stair flooring is not secure concerns me. I have called the owner multiple times and he promises he will take care of everything. I don't hear from him in months and i have to call back to see when they are planning on fixing my floors and stairs. But there's always and excuse. Like I mentioned before it has been over 3 yrs and I have not heard from them. I had recommended this company to a friend during the time my flooring was being installed. We went to Expert Flooring Solutions and showed them one of the planks that we were tearing to match. Ron helped us and we scheduled an appointment for him to come out the next day. When Ron arrived he brought a new sample that we had not seen the day before. He had continued to look for a close match after we left. When he laid the new sample down on our existing floor we were thrilled to see how close it came to matching, We tried it in different rooms and it was the best we could have hoped for. No one, other than us, will ever notice the difference. When Ron sent us the cost, it was $2,000 less than another company had quoted us. We were very surprised. He also included a veteran discount, and we did not have to pay anything up front, We paid when the job was done and we were satisfied. The price included taking out the old carpet and hauling it, and moving the furniture from the rooms where the new flooring went. The crew that showed up on the appointed date and right on time. They were very courteous and professional. They did two rooms in one day and the third room was finished by 11 a.m. on the second day. Everything looks great.
