Great service from the minute I stepped in the door and was greeted by Katrina for a walk in. Wasted no time and was seen within 10 min. I was slightly concerned that this modern,stylish facility would be all marketing and no substance. I was really impressed to find this was not the case. Thorough and careful cleaning done by Kobe and really appreciated the time and attention from Dr Elchami who did my dental exam. Funny enough, I was actually disappointed by the lack of execution on some of the great concepts like the massage/operating chair. I was expecting something closer to those you find in the nail salon and this was pretty weak. Hope they can improve that because it's a genius idea and could be very helpful and soothing if having an uncomfortable procedure done. Also, maybe it's just me but I was so bummed that they only had mint flavored fluoride paste for the cleaning. I'm a big fan of the crazy flavors-- or at least vanilla/bubblegum they have in most offices. Bottom line: great experience and HIGHLY recommend. read more

I've been coming to this location for about 2 years and as always, it was a great experience. They are under new management now, but they still provided the same great care yesterday as they have every other time. The newer reviews mention insurance being an issue so I made sure to figure that out ahead of time. The office explained that my delta dental was out of network and I'd need to pay up front since my insurance would reimburse me instead of them. I called my insurance to confirm and delta dental said they were correct and they would pay me directly instead of paying the office. It boils down to knowing your insurance and calling them before hand to avoid issues. read more

Going to the dentist is truly terrifying for me - I was excited to try somewhere new and hopefully be less nervous with their model. Got all the way to Chelsea (keep in mind nobody answered my text or phone calls) and confirmed on their website and my insurance website that they take my insurance to be told they don't take my insurance and I could pay $600. This was the best dental experience of my life! I'm not kidding- I watched Netflix and got a massage while the nicest, most gentle hygienist made my teeth beautiful. Every part of the process- booking an appointment (you can also walk in), the front staff checking me in and out, the X-ray tech X-raying me, the cleaning (no pain or bleeding!) and the exam from the dentist was such a different experience from my old curmudgeonly dentist. They will overcharge you, add random new charges to your bill, and charge a late fee on top of it. I wasn't able to get neither clarification on what the charges were nor get anyone to talk to. I spend hours on the phone and multiple emails trying to speak with someone who can assist without any luck. Save your energy and go to an established dentist. read more

Can't say enough good things about dntl bar! A few days ago, I chipped my front tooth. I was in a state of shock and desperately started searching for someone who could see me over the weekend to fix it. Everyone at dntl bar was so responsive and helpful! They made it easy to get me onboarded as a new patient, get x-rays from my previous dentist, and fit me in on a Sunday. Today, in less than an hour, and for an extremely reasonable price, I got my smile back! My front tooth looks good as new -- the color matching and shape are so spot on, you literally can't tell anything happened to it. I just returned from my first appointment at dntl bar and I'm honestly shocked, for the first time I actually enjoyed a dental checkup/cleaning. I couldn't recommend this place more! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, the doctors are super kind, genuine, and personable. The doctors went over my Xray with me super clearly and answered every question I had, consistently politely asking if I had any more questions, I felt very respected and very comfortable from the moment I entered to the moment I left. After reading some of the recent reviews I thought wow some people can just go on and on about absolutely nothing. Both my father and I were seen here and everyone was great. Yes, you have to get x-rays before a cleaning. If that's not something you want to be subject to you can easily try another dental office. The location is modern and clean and I found them to have much lower prices than any other dentists I have been to in the city. Omima, the hygienist was very informative and thoughtful during my cleaning and offered some great tips without being pushy or trying to sell me something. The staff was great with my father and made him feel comfortable throughout his entire appointment. Overall a great experience. I will definitely be returning. read more

I absolutely love DntlBar. It makes making a dentist appointment so painless and easy (you won't dread coming here)! The Doctors and staff are so polite and smart, walking you through each part of the appointment and even going as far to show images and x-rays and explain them to you. Not to mention the Netflix, heated massage chair, tea tree oil for your gums and warm lavender towel after you're done. The space was great and the amenities were impressive. I was able to watch Netflix and the chair had a massager built in. However, the hygienist only flossed and polished one side of my teeth. Then, during checkout they tried to charge me an extra 125. Good thing I double checked the bill! I'm not sure how good of a cleaning I got because of my experience so I wouldn't go back but it was cool to try. read more

This is NYC's first walk-in dental bar and I couldn't be more excited! If I could rate this any higher, I would. They offer walk-in teeth cleanings, checkups and whitening. I stopped in one morning while on my way to work for a cleaning and x-rays and was out in 45 minutes. Not only are they quick, but the office is really modern and clean and the staff are so friendly and genuinely care. I had the absolute best experience and have been referring everyone I know to this office. For an added bonus on top of the superior service, they are currently offering a promotion for a free express whitening with your first clean+. They believe in being better for the planet, which is a huge plus for me, and give you a bamboo toothbrush brush with BPA-free bristles that is 100% biodegradable and plastic-free floss. Embarrassed to say I hadn't been to the dentist in FIVE years. I had a bit of time before work so I popped in to see if my insurance would cover a visit. The receptionist was warm and extremely helpful. She called my insurance company and figured out how much would be covered and what I may end up having to pay out of pocket. After that, I was taken straight back by a lovely and kind hygienist who took x-rays and gave me a very thorough cleaning. She explained everything she was doing throughout and made me feel extremely relaxed. The Dentist came in at the end and did an exam of his own. He also went over the X-rays with me so I could understand what I was seeing. He was very kind too! From start to finish, I had a lovely visit. It's modern, clean and I would recommend to everyone. For a few years, I went to this practice for cleanings and for what they used to call "date nights" (just polishing and flossing, when you want to freshen up your teeth and make them look nice for an occasion). I was clear on the first phone call before the first appointment that I would not allow X-rays to be performed on me, except by my request at a time of my choosing, if I ever so chose. I am extremely averse to the discomfort, time, expense, and radiation associated X-rays (and yes, I've heard the spiel about how minimal the radiation supposedly is). I am also uncomfortable with the pressure tactics some dental offices resort to on the issue of X-rays. I also know people, including relatives, who have had terrible and costly experiences with overtreatment by unscrupulous dentists who put their earnings ahead of ethics and their patients' well-being (in one instance, committing criminal fraud; in another, taking actions that resulted in the suspension of a dentist's license). I have spoken with dentists in my family and whom I know socially, and the recommendation for X-rays every six months is--by pretty much all accounts--overkill. Even yearly X-rays aren't necessary for every patient. I have never had an X-ray reveal an actual problem. In fact, I've never had a dental problem of any magnitude. I think I had one cavity in my early twenties (a long time ago, and visible to the naked eye without X-rays). With these facts in mind, I set the boundaries with my dental care, I control what treatments I get and when, and I was clear with DNTL about this from the outset. It doesn't matter if any dentist disagrees with me. IT'S MY MOUTH, and although I'm not harming it or neglecting it, it is mine to harm or neglect. For the first few years, DNTL respected my boundaries. All of a sudden, the evening before an appointment in January for a cleaning, I texted them to confirm and they informed me they were "mandated," going forward, to perform X-rays. Among other issues, this was very a very last minute change to a scheduled appointment, and substantially increased the cost. I politely but firmly said no. I offered to sign an X-ray refusal form. I even offered to consider getting X-rays another day. The choices they then presented me with were X-rays tomorrow or no appointment. I needed the cleaning to make my teeth look nice before an important occasion. I explained the circumstances to DNTL, and they refused to budge based on "policy," that age-old go-to for someone who has no real argument in defense of an unreasonable position. They claimed the ADA mandated X-rays. The ADA is a private organization that promulgates guidelines and recommendations. It's not a licensing, lawmaking, regulatory, or other similar body with the power to enforce mandates. So what DNTL said was misleading--a pressure tactic to manipulate patients into thinking DNTL is required to perform X-rays and patients are required to accept. DNTL also came close to suggesting X-rays are a legal requirement--but they're not. I'm a paralegal and a law student, and although X-rays are partly liability-driven, there's no statutory requirement that they be performed at particular intervals or at all. As to liability, they didn't have any. If they made the standard recommendations and a patient was simply noncompliant--and all healthcare professionals have noncompliant patients--that isn't negligence or malpractice on their part. An X-ray refusal form can create added clarity about what happened, but even without that, the reality of what happened would protect the dental practice legally. So I'm left to assume DNTL's motives are financial. And that didn't even work out for them. I had been going in for cleanings and "date nights" every two or three months. I would have been among their more profitable patients. Now I've left the practice, and they make $0 off of me. And all that money simply goes to another practice now. Let's be clear: Patients have the absolute right to refuse any and all treatment, for any reason or no reason. Never with a medical doctor have I been put under such duress to accept treatment or told, if I refused, I would no longer be welcome in the practice. Only in dentistry are such practices seen as acceptable. I recommend Googling "The Truth About Dentistry" and reading the Atlantic article that comes up. Providers make recommendations; patients choose: Only go to DNTL if you want to be in an environment in which they have it reversed and bullying, coercion, manipulation, and misinformation are used to get money from you. When I first went to DNTL, it seemed like a very modern approach to dental care. I don't understand how overnight it could descend to the lowest depths of the dental profession. read more

Going to the dentist sucks. I finally bit the bullet and decided to try a more upscale dentist. This place is perfect if you want to get your cleaning and x rays fast (I was in and out in an hour). They have nice touches like Netflix and massage chairs and their own line of products. Since it's not in my network, I paid out of pocket. I'm late to share but can't sing higher praises for what a great experience I had with DNTL Bar. I initially felt positive after reading reviews when researching my options. Even with insurance, I was still concerned on being over charged or taken advantage of, given my prior negative experiences with dentists. Just with scheduling the appointment alone, DNTL Bar was on it! They got me an appointment quickly at the 6th Ave. location and were so polite and responsive. I initially scheduled a cleaning and check up. When I arrived I had almost no wait time, was quickly taken to get x-rays, and then a cleaning. The dental hygienist was so well informed and gave helpful dental care insight and tips. The cleaning was pleasant and quicker than I expected! After this, she showed me the x-rays and explained where there were concerns. I was worried they would tell me I have several cavities and would need fillings just so they would make a profit, but that was not the case. Then the dentist Dr. Gibson (who is amazing!) came in and told me about a filling that would need be replaced. I originally had 3 silver filling and asked if they could all be replaced with composite fillings. I was then able to schedule a follow up visit for the procedure (along with a complimentary whitening) the same week! The procedure wasn't bad at all and Dr. Gibson did a really amazing job on matching the composite fillings to my teeth. You would have no idea even up close that I have 3 fillings. I highly recommend her if you need a filling done. After that I had a whitening that did make my teeth sensitive so I had to reduce the timing but I was very satisfied with the results. Overall outstanding work and not to mention the office itself is gorgeous, the staff go above and beyond to make you comfortable and informed, Covid safety measures were in place, they even offer a visitor gift of a tooth brush, charcoal toothpaste, and floss. I've never had a better dentistry experience! The hygienists are gentle and kind. I used to find regular cleanings pretty painful and blamed it on sensitivity but my DNTL cleanings have been more thorough and less painful than any of my appointments at other locations.
