Staff behavior is very unprofessional. One mechanic yelling curse words while stating I'll get a new job. Having bolts missing from work that they do. Leaving rags in the engine after the work is done. Not being able to get simple work done is 10 hrs. Which I would consider plenty of time for an oil change, 2 tire pressure sensors and fuel injector cleaner. I am extremely worried that they are so frustrated and mad at everybody that I dont have confidence my work is being correctly. I have had so many of these instances at this location. I will not be taking my 3 cars to these people anymore. read more

Five and a half hours from my home, a plate slipped on my Prius, made a terrible noise. It was a business trip and car trouble could've ruined everything. My brother took our BMW in for some basic service and signed an initial work order for a little over $200. The next day they called the number on file which was my father who was out of the loop on what was being done and stated that several additional things needed to be done for the car at 60,000 miles despite this being a complete fabrication. I know it's false because it was done when we purchased the car from CarMax just prior to it rolling over 60k. My father agreed not knowing the extent, I was notified a couple hours later about the extensive work that was instead going to cost over $1100. He called them back immediately and said it was a mistake and that he didn't know the full situation, and they replied stating that most of the work had already been completed. The next day they're open, I go down there to negotiate the work done and the bill, and the front desk attendant had a prepared script that essentially boiled down to me having to pay their insane bill for platinum valvoline sparkplugs amongst other obviously marked up items to jack up the bill as much as possible. I will never go to another Dobbs again, will actively discourage others from taking their cars there, and will be filing a consumer complaint with the Consumer Protection Agency. I will now do everything I can legally to damage their business and brand. read more

I was driving from Arkansas to Chicago and my ac went out in St. Louis. It was about 98 degrees out and I have heat sensitivity due to a medical issue. I was able to get a hotel for the night in Collinsville . I called no less than 10 dealerships and auto repair shops in the am and the ONLY one that would help me or give me the time of day was Dobbs! They told me to come right in. Within 3 hours my car was completely repaired and I was back on the road with my ac working. The price was very reasonable and the staff was very friendly and kind. read more

Put new lower control arms on got car aligned and put in new tires. A few months later I brought it back up there because new tires I bought from them were cupping. They said I needed new tires alignment and new lower control arms. Would not recommend going there. read more

This place is a joke. While on vacation, I picked up a nail in the left rear tire of my Lexus LS430. I swapped on the spare, and stopped by Dobbs to get the tire patched before driving 800 miles home. Dropped the wheel/tire off at 1:30, and was told " it will be a bit". By 5:30, I still haven't heard back, so I called. Of course, I was told "we are just getting to it now". They didn't realize I was outside, and could see that all but three people (Mike, the manager, and two young guys sweeping up the shop. After my call ended, one of the two started to break down the tire for repair. I watched as he fumbled the tire on the machine, gouging the crap out of the rim. 20 min later, he was done. I paid, and was given my wheel/tire back. Upon inspecting the damage, I had a talk with the manager, who assured me he would "get me a new wheel". I will revise this review if he actually makes good. I went back to my hotel to swap out the spare, and noticed that the tire was mounted backward on the wheel (directional tires have "outside" and "inside" cast in the tire sidewall). The final insult was the tech removed all wheel weights, but didn't balance the wheel when he was done (two oz before, none after). I will be extending my stay by a day to get it fixed in the morning. read more

Clean shop, nice enough guys. However, I spent over $800 in tires here because of their "Fixed for Life" promise & have not been able to take advantage of it. Well I've tried making an online appointment to get a nail out of my tire about a week ago but they have not gotten back to me. I tried calling a couple days in a row but they have not been able to make an appointment for me. I guess they've made their sale & know that I won't be needing to purchase tires again anytime soon... I went to a small business tire shop & was seen immediately for $12. Well worth not having to wait on Dobbs. I only wish I would have supported the small business from the start & bough my tires there. read more

My wife went for an oil change and the front desk service advisor came over with a concerned look and said ma'am you need brakes front and rear, rotors are scared and they could do it today, she asked him to call me. I received the call and was told the car was in urgent need of a brake and it would cost $1075.00. I said I'd do the work myself. I bought braked and rotors and set out to do the job, I put on front brakes in summer of 2021, so it seems unusual to need brakes so soon. When I took off the old pads and rotors ALL were in very good shape over 80% of material left and the rotors were smooth. I proceeded putting on the new brakes . I called Dobbs and talked to the manager "Mike" and told him what had happened and I was going to bring by the parts so he could see, and he said he would look up the ticket. Mike was upset when I took the parts in as they were like new and apologized and said he would talk to the mechanic. My wife was upset and said she thought taking advantage of women stopped decades ago and said she'd never go back. Mike seemed sincere in his apology. I call the Dobbs home office and spoke to Tony in customer service and told him and asked him to talk to the mechanic also, feeling it would have more impact coming from corporate, Tony assured me that he would. Please if you take your car in for a repair, get a second opinion especially if your car is not making a grinding noise, and especially if you are a woman, unfortunately some ( at least this time) it was a case of trying to take advantage of a woman. Make them prove that you need the part by visually inspecting it before letting them proceed. We always used Dobbs but after this we will have to go elsewhere. Michael. read more

I came in to buy a new rear driver's side tire and it was noted on the form. After waiting an hour to get in and an hour to get my new tire put on, I come outside to find my old tire still on my rear driver's side... they put a new tire on the rear passenger side. When I brought this to their attention, I was given a BS excuse of how the passenger side tire was worse and needed to be changed. Like I didn't know which tire I had been filling with air every single day this week. I will do my best to not ever return to Dobbs again. read more

The best experience ever. Before turning to Dobbs for my automotive needs, I saw a local mechanic. I went in for an oil change and left with a nearly $3,000 bill and was told that my entire front end and tires needed to be replaced. I was also told that the car was too dangerous to drive, and asked to sign a waiver form releasing the mechanic from liability if I wanted to take my car. A few days later, I took my car to Dobbs in Collinsville, IL. A man by the name of Dale Schiebel greeted me and we discussed my issues. Dale told me that I indeed needed new tires (which needed to be ordered before I could have them replaced). When I asked Dale if he would take the car into the shop and look underneath for any potential problems, he told me he would do so when they changed the tires the following week. Afraid to drive the car for another week (because of my experience with the prior mechanic) I told Dale that I had taken my car to another mechanic who told me that the car needed a ton of repairs and that it was too dangerous to drive. Upon hearing that there could be a safety issue if I left with the car, Dale immediately took my car into the garage, put it up on the rack, and had one of his staff take a look underneath. Guess what... Not only were there no issues with the car (with the exception of older struts that have never been replaced), there were also no issues with anything that would put me in danger if I drove the car. Needless to say, I will be getting new tires at Dobbs. I will also have the struts replaced at some point in the very near future. Because of Mr. Schiebel and his outstanding impeccable customer service, his honesty, and more importantly his willingness to protect my safety, I will never go anywhere else for car-related issues. If you suck at driving as much as I do you'll like their tire deal. I bought my truck tires here and they come with FREE lifetime rotation, road hazard AND balancing. I'm always curb checking, throwing balancing weights off, running over nails or something. I've never had an issue with walking out of here charged zero for any tire related stuff. Same today. My Bill = zero and the tires = balanced and rotated. They've even completely replaced tires for me because there was a defect or something. Outstanding techs and front desk managers. Very helpful, honest and good people. They almost always nail their time and estimate. Problem: Service manager. He doesn't look like any other dobbs employee (because he's actually a salesman working you for the upsell) and emerges from his office in the shop area. His office is back there, you know, so you can't question his credibility. He is the seemingly innocent, helpful guy that tells you there is something else wrong with your vehicle. This is usually done when he feels you haven't spent enough money with them that day. In particular on your routine FREE tire maintenance or FREE oil changes. I've probably been coming here for 10 years and every time the Service Manager tries to upsell me something. You must refuse his power. Otherwise your FREE visit will become a $300+ visit. I do this, then I take my truck to my mechanic and he laughs, telling me here's only the parts you really need. He says let me guess, service manager at dobbs again? It's usually 50-75% less than what the dobbs service manager quotes and usually half the parts and labor time. Again 5 stars to the front desk managers and auto techs. read more

I travel down to this area for work and was in a pinch this morning when I had a hole in the side of my front tire. I took it in, knowing the tread was near to worn down and all needed to be replaced soon. I explained that my cousin has a shop that I typically go to where I normally get a good discount there. The guy (sorry, can't remember his name) explained everything, gave me a great price, and didn't make me feel like I was getting jipped or taken advantage of at all. Even though they were busy, they got me in and completed under the promised 2 hours as they knew I was in a rush to get to the office. Thanks for the awesome service! I went into Dobbs yesterday looking for windshield wipers for my car and I was in a bit of hurry. The gentlemen working were all very friendly and professional. Although they did not have the ones that fit my car, they told me if I found them elsewhere they would be happy to put them on for me. I made a quick trip to another store and found the size I needed. Back to Dobbs and true to their word one of the guys came out and put the new wipers on my car. I've been to this place three times this past year. The first time they were great, replaced my alternator without any problems. The second time was at the end of December. My car was acting up, so I took it in to have them look at it. They found nothing, but didn't charge me anything. I kept driving my car as usual and it still kept acting up. I took it back in at the end of March, and still they found nothing, this time charging me $75. Months went by and my car seemed to be fine until it acted up again. Clearly there is something wrong with my car. I took it in to another place to get a second opinion, and they found a lot wrong with my car. I'm having them fix it obviously. I'm highly disappointed. If Dobbs found the problems when I took it in, they could be having my service and I could have a working car. Even though the place I'm taking my car now is kind of out of the way, I trust them way more than Dobbs. The guy's at Dobbs are nice, but that isn't enough. I wish I had just taken my car somewhere else in the first place. read more

this place has NO compassion at all. after my sister's husband died, her car broke down, and was towed to Dobbs as she does a LOT of business with them. they would not even try to fix her car in time to go to her husband's funeral. they were not sympathetic at all, and were quite nasty. avoid these people at all costs. read more

Took in my car for 4 new tires and an alignment check, that's all I had approved and signed off on. 1hr later get a call about some major issues, a leaking caliper they suggested replacing despite not knowing where it was leaking from, and loose lower ball joints that kept them from doing an alignment check as well. I'm irritated listening to these two sudden severe issues and after looking at the caliper pay for the tires and leave. While stopped at the light I check the invoice and notice comments about my air filter needing serviced and overdue for an oil change....had an oil change literally 30min. before bringing it in, where the air and oil filters were changed (though the sticker was still in the window). Somehow they managed to add 5 miles while they had possession (guess the parking lot is bigger than it looks). Also next time you drive someone's car maybe turn the radio back down and A/C back off max before you hand it back over. While possible (no matter how improbable) these things could have been there prior without any previous indications, the mileage discrepancy+sudden suspension issue+sudden leaking caliper+length of time before a phone call is very suspicious of this place and it's the last time I ever give this place any business. read more
