Went for dinner with husband. Never been even though lived here for many many years. We couldn't decide on dinner so we got a few things to sample an try. Our waitress Kelly was terrific. She gave us her personal favorites an what other customers enjoy. So we started with the mozzarella sticks. OMG is all. Huge wedge of fried mozzarella with tomato slices i between then drizzled with a lil balsamic glaze. Absolutely amazing. We also order a pitcher of sangrias. We were told that on Saturday they are buy one get one on the glass of sangrias. ( good to know ) We also ordered the chicken parmigiana an traditional hand tossed pizza. They give you a choice of salad with the chick parm. We got the Greek salad. That too was very good. The chicken was fresh not frozen patty. Very pleased. The pizza we got was a meat lovers. Holy cow!! Sooooo much meat toppings!!! We found our new pizza place for sure. So happy we went. The staff was great and helpful. We will of course be back. read more

Have already left a former 5 star review but needed to add another 5 stars for their soup tonight. Wow! They were serving lemon chicken rice soup. It was creamy and SO delicious. It was not too lemony or too much of anything. It was all just right. My whole family enjoyed sampling my father's bowl of it. I'm now hooked on their fabulous soups too. Very good Stromboli and deep dish pizza. I have to take away one star for the run down place they are in.

After my friends spoke to me many times about how I just had to try the pizza at dobros, in decided to give it a try. After looking at the menu I decided to get the Classic Chicago style pizza. And an order of stuffed mushrooms. I called to order and the person on the phone was polite, attentive and the time to wait was about 15-25 minutes. I was picking up, so I got there about 20 min and my order was ready within 3 minutes of my arrival. I ordered to go, so I did not eat in, but the place looks like your think s Chicago style pizzeria woul look. The staff was nice, and I think eating in would be a pleasant experience. Now for what really counts, the taste! The pizza was good. I'm NOT really a fan of Chicago style being from New Jersey, I typically like my pizza thin. But the taste was good. The sauce was good, toppings good, crust good. They mushrooms, though nothing to write home about, were not bad either. The mushrooms themselves seemed fresh, the stuffing part not so much. My overall opinion of dobros is that if your into deep dish Chicago style pizza, they will not disappoint. Had the pasta the first time I went and the sauce was really sweet. Not really my cup of tea. We ordered it as take out and there isn't really much of a place to sinkhole waiting for it to be cooked if you get there early. Price was good, pasta was well made, sauce not my favorite. The breadsticks however weee to die for. You can tell they are homemade as each little morsel is different in size and shape and I love it. Overall, better than expected but not perfect. read more

I have been meaning to try this place for a while, and finally did recently. I ordered the spinanch and mushroom pizza with a salad and breadsticks with marinara dopping sauce. We were all underwhelmed by the pizza. I guess it had to do with the sauce. I like more of a spicy, flavorful sauce, and their sauce is sweet. The food wasn't horrible, but it was just meh. I think it is funny that when you ask restaraunts if their sauce is spicy, they immediately assume that is what you don't want, and start assuring you that it is totally bland. My son and I just rode down to Daytona from MD for bike week... and wanted something good and filling... This place did the trick!! Make sure to order the bread sticks with dipping sauce... I thought I had reviewed Dobro's a few years ago. Unfortunately not. I have been coming to Dobro's for about 5 years. Dobro's has never messed up my food. Always consistent, always hot, and always delicious!! The servers and staff are always friendly and on point. I can't say enough about this wonderful local establishment! After living in Chicago for 20 years, I sometimes get home sick. I just order up a Chicago style pizza, and I feel like I'm home. I think they are better than Giordono's or Lou Malnati's. (Chicago style pizza). The crust is perfection!!! The sauce is mouth watering. I also enjoy the meatball sub. I give five stars to Dobro's. If I could give more, I would. Yes, this is my favorite local restaurant. It's not big, or extravagant, but quaint and relaxing and so delicious! I highly recommend them. read more

Dobro's is a great family run Italian restaurant for a number of reasons. Quality is the biggest reason, the food is great. It's away from down town so you're going to see a high status local crowd who come regularly for the wine beer and food. Then they deliver. Just last week we ordered our favorites and dinner arrived 45 min later. Dobros is top shelf in Deland. You won't find better. Enjoy! read more

Fantastic place!! Food was out of this world. Even the Breadsticks are special! I had the chicken Parmesan and it was perfectly prepared. Chocken was moist and tender while the breading was crispy and cheese perfectly balanced. Very Generous portion sizes and fantastic service. We love the deep dish pizza. We have yet to try many of the other items on the menu, so that's why I give 4 stars. The bread sticks are obviously fresh and look to be the same dough for the pizza, I like them dipped in their Italian dressing. They do offer gluten free choices, pizza dough included, which will be nice to remember when our gluten intolerant friend comes to visit. I grew up in the Chicago area where they cut pizza into squares instead of slices and relish deep dish versions loaded to the top. Dobros pays a worthwhile homage to those traditions (although your pizza comes in slices). Don't let misconceptions restrict you. You might think that deep dish pizza crust will be thick and doughy. But here it's just as crisp as those flat-world versions. You also might think eating pizza with a knife and fork is sacrilegious. But that's how they do it in Italy. Dobros' Italian beef sandwich is true to its origins in sidewalk stands that also popularized Chicago style hot dogs. Dunk it in the au jus, and it all melts in your mouth. Search for mostaccioli on other menus and you come up empty. But it's an entree at Dobros that I haven't seen since growing up and moving away from Mama's kitchen. You don't have to be seeking a nostalgic trip to your old hometown to enjoy their food any more than you have to be from Philly to enjoy cheese steak sandwiches. In fact, our favorite pizza there is the spinach and mushroom, to which I add their excellent sausage so it's not too healthy. I don't recall that from Chicago, but it sure beats pepperoni. The place is efficient and well lighted with booths, tables and a small bar that give it a neighborhood feel. Drop in or order out. It's easier than hopping on an el to the Loop (that's Chicago talk). read more
