Service was great. Got sick shortly after eating half of a sandwich. The fish seemed fresh. Had to be the grease that it was cooked in.

This probably the best fish restaurant in Illinois. Dock's fish was on our dinner table almost every week growing up. Fish is always fresh and cooked perfectly. We waited until all the hype and kinks slowly disappeared to make a dash for this new location. I went on a Saturday night and it was not as crowded as I thought it would be. The cashier was pleasant, service/wait time was expected when food is cooked to order. We ordered a fish & shrimp combo and an order of deep sea nuggets. The food was hot fresh and well-seasoned. I want to first start off saying the young ladies at the front were very polite & helpful. Even the young lady that was being trained. Didn't wait more than 10mins for my food which is totally acceptable. What is unacceptable is the laziness of the prep crew. How do you slice tomatoes & not take off the brown part of the top & bottom? Of course I would get a large chunk of both on my sandwich. Also onion rings left a lot to be desired. This was my first time having Dock's and I throughly enjoyed it. I got the Fish Wish Sandwich with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and tarter sauce. I definitely recommend this option. It had two pieces of fish and it was a hearty sandwich. My husband had the Shrimp Po'boy, it wasn't the best. Not a lot of shrimp, but a lot of bread. It was a small sandwich compared to the Fish Wish. He also had the wings...stick to the Fish Wish...leave the chicken to Harold's. I usually enjoy coleslaw, but this one doesn't seem to be kept well. Our friend ordered the sea bass nuggets and I would get those again! Definitely a good choice. Overall, it was a good experience. I would go back. read more

Fish was over fried and sliding right out of breading . Never seen that before . The fries were old and stale , bread was hard and dry . Also no condiments were prepared and packed . The fishwich was delicious! I ordered it with cheese and fried hard and they made it to perfection. Everything was piping hot and fresh out of the grease. The deep sea nuggets were breaded just right and a good amount of food for the price. The ladies working were very cordial and made sure I had everything that I needed. The fries were cold, shrimps were not fresh. Slow service. Considering this is one of a few Dock's in the city, I expected more.

On Wednesday my husband and I visited the Dock's Bronzeville location. We ordered 2-fishwish sandwiches and #5 combo consisting of shrimp and catfish fillets. When we arrived home and washed up to eat our pick-up order to my disappointment the catfish fillets were not catfish. I called the Bronzeville store and spoke with a Ms.Lisa about the seemingly mistake. Ms. Lisa asked me what "color" was the fillet coating when I gave her the information she asked for she said that for sure it was catfish. I said that I will be bringing the food back the next morning. Ms. Lisa tried to convince me that the fillets were catfish. I explained to her that a catfish eater knows the taste and look of catfish, catfish is a white flaky fish not chunky and tasteless. She begins to say that the store does not sell Swai or basa, I didn't say it she does. I say to her that is exactly what your store is trying to sell imitation catfish at catfish prices. She then says that she only has catfish steaks. Basa is a fillet cut fish that people assume is a catfish fillet. Again, I say to her a catfish eater knows catfish. People beware of the Basa/Swai scam. Restaurants selling fake catfish and charging catfish prices. Basa costs $2.39 a lb., catfish costs $5.99 a lb. read more

Just checked this docks out opening week. Great employees and the fishwichs are delicious definitely recommend this location in the city.

Went to the Dock's location on 35th and Calumet and was very surprised to see it there first of all. Ordered a Fishwich and a shrimp dinner and was going to leave and come back. I'm used to 30/40 minutes on getting my food from the other location in Chicago but they asked me not to leave and it would be up shortly. To my surprise, I received my food in about 10 minutes and it was excellent! Will definitely be back and knowing it is much quicker, I can go there for lunch! read more

This is like my third time eating at this establishment. The first time I ordered a fish sandwich which was good. The second time I ordered 2 sandwich combos, shrimp combo and 3 cakes. Again, it was good, only thing I would say is to fry the fish a little harder. I went into dock's 8/18 (Sunday) I ordered a large Sea nuggets combo and a berry shake. I placed my order at 3:38. Lord Jesus, I didn't receive my food until 4:38. The girls behind the register play Entirely too much, I guess they couldn't keep their focus because boys where in their faces. Anywho, they kept forgetting people's orders and messing up orders. this guy placed his order before me and never received it. The girl at the register had a bad attitude, she was arguing with the customers. I'm a very patient person, I sat there a little longer Observing what was going on. I walked up to the counter and asked to talk to the manager the girl at the register looked at me and rolled her eyes I said "sweetheart I've been waiting an hour for my food there's no reason why you should have an attitude with me," I waited 10 more minutes for my food that I know for sure they forgot. When I got my food I had about 8 french fries at the bottom of the bag, They were cold so she gave me two fresh fries, Which I still was getting attitude. And my shake was watered down. The food wasn't bad it's just the service. They need a lot of help And some structure. This could be a great Establishment, But they need to learn customer service Is everything.
