This place has such an amazing view. Came here for dinner and of course the gooeys!! We ordered French dip, the Mac and cheese, and the crab and spinach and artichoke cake things. All were super yummy!!! For gooeys we ordered the Reese's peanut butter one and the chocolate one and let me just say... delicious!!!!! This "sniffs in" at about 3.0 stars at most... There are some decent views if seated near the windows but the height of the boats in the harbor obstruct things some. The SALAD BAR is okay but you won't be writing home about it. Some pieces of lettuce were going bad. CRAB ARTICHOKE CHEESE MELT -- the bread isn't really crisp or toasted well; there is plenty of artichoke and cheese but crab is another story; there are some tiny shrapnel pieces of crab (petite Band-aid size) that appear to be assembled as an after thought; I'd rather they charge $3-$5 more and actually make it a "crab" melt or use fake crab or fake lobster and tell us so then give us cheese bread for $19.00; all I could taste was cheese and artichoke honestly FRIED CALAMARI -- not the worse I've had but it was "no bueno"; 80% breading, 20% meat = end of story; 3 different sauces were nice but that was the best thing about it RED TROUT -- wife a definite fan and I was considering ordering it and apparently should have HUCKLEBERRY CRUSH cocktail -- crushed ice, slice of lime, huckleberry vodka and huckleberry pulp; not my favorite huckleberry cocktail of the trip but like #2 of 3 Service is pretty solid overall. Server was unbearably slow causing us to leave before our main course but that is not the purpose of this one star review. Now that things are starting to return to normal post COVID, customers start to notice more the cleanliness of restaurants. Bus boy was wiping crumbs off of a dirty table with a dry rag he stores in his back pocket not even spraying down the table with disinfectant and as we were walking out of the restaurant, one of the cook's pulls his cell phone out of his pocket to show his coworker something while continuing to wear his rubber gloves then proceeds to put his phone back in his pocket and continue cooking food. If you are going to showcase your kitchen to the public with cook's preparing food for your customers you would think the kitchen staff would know better or have better policies in place. The Highs: The cougar gold cheese dip. The Lows: Too many people. :) This was a solid showing in my book. We order the cheese dip and a french dip sandwich. Both were exceptionally good... If you are looking for fine dining, you need to head up to the 7th floor. But I'm pretty sure they don't serve the cheese dip... It's epic. They were super busy, since it was Saturday and prom night. But our server nailed it all. Drinks were kept full and, dispite the crowds, I felt our food was very timely in it arrival. Been here a handful of times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and even just dessert while staying at the Coeur D'alene Resort and I have never been disappointed. Warm greeters at the host station, great and helpful servers and good food! Now don't get me wrong, this is no fine dining establishment but if you want good traditional american food - this is a great place to go. Breakfast has everything from the basic eggs, bacon, pancakes to skillets, fruit and yogurt bowls... only real downside if you're an early morning cocktail/mimosa drinker, you can't be served alcohol before 10am lol. Lunch has the same options as dinner (aside from prime rib on specific nights) but everything from pasta to salad bars (not during covid pandemic) and steaks and sandwiches. The fun part for the kids is the gigantic desserts - HUGE ice cream sundaes with different themes and colors as always fun and beyond enough to share and of course more classic desserts like cheesecake and apple pies too. Pair good food with great helpful staff, everyone is always willing to help and never gives you the "i'll get your server" answer - on top of all that you get great views Coeur D'alene Lake there isn't much to complain about. I've been there 5 times now and always leave happy and wouldn't hesitate to come back again next time i'm in town! read more

First time here as far as looks and views its great was just me and the wife. Salad bar has some great options but was not well maintained. We ordered our appetizer, mozzarella sticks, those came out great. I ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes well let's just say the best thing on my plate was the green beans. The wife ordered honey dijon crusted chicken with potatoes and green beans and surprisingly the chicken was pretty good. Well folks! This place has a nice view from many tables... BUT... don't let that fool you... the food is not close to its prices. We ordered 2 medium rare ribeyes... one with shrimp... and salmon Oscar... two salads and a clam chowder... and finally a piece of cheesecake with huckleberries and strawberries! Both ribeyes looked completely black on the outside... one was half medium and half medium well done... the other was medium well to well done. The shrimp were not fresh at all... in fact it was like chewing on a tough rubber band... and tasted like those frozen shrimp ring shrimp - overly heated up!??! Salmon Oscar was good!!! Yea! One pleased customer in our party! The veggie medley was prepared very nicely! Yea! The broccoli was also! Yea again! Salad bar was great! Yea! Clam chowder was pretty good... the bacon in it was not good though... leave the pig out - would be more tasty and true to New England style clam chowder. Pigs and clams just don't go well together in any dish... just like they don't hang together in life! Dessert was delightfully delicious! RECOMMENDATION: Don't order the steak and shrimp and chowder... way too expensive.., tough jerky over cooked steaks $42 each... add on rubber shrimp $9... and finally... delicious salad bar over squealing clam-pig chowder! While visiting my kids in Spokane my son suggested going to dinner here for his birthday. We made reservations for 8:00 as they gave us the option of 4:30 or 8:00. We got there, seated right away so far so good. It went downhill from there. First off... salad bar empty of lettuce so we stood there waiting and finally had to ask someone to fill it. As we waited for a slow paced employee to finally show up with a big bag of lettuce now there are at least 15 others waiting with us. She filled the spring mix bowl first which was still half full while we waited for her to fill the empty lettuce bowl next. She Never smiled or looked at any of us waiting. So now we finally have our salads and are back at our table. No silverware. We tell our waiter who never returned with anything and then had to stop a bus boy who tells us sorry for the delay but they don't have any clean linens to wrap the silverware in. 10 minutes later he shows up with paper napkin wrapped silverware. We eat our salads and wait for our entrees. We wait and wait.... Finally waiter comes and tells us they are super backed up and there are at least 15 orders still ahead of ours. He repeats this message to the tables around us also. Some choose to leave. We waited it is now 9:30 by the time our dinner arrives. I ordered French dip. The au jus is on the cool side along with the fries. 2 steaks are cooked opposite of request but we are so ready to eat and tired of waiting we don't say anything. What's the point now. There were 5 of us having dinner and our bill was almost 300.00. You would think for that amount we would have been offered a little comp due to the lack of appropriate services and delay. This is a resort hotel after all. There is no excuse for not having food out and ready in a timely manner or enough linens for serving your patrons. We were underwhelmed and disappointed. read more

The server completely forgot to enter in one of our meals and after addressing it with us, we waited a while but ended up having to cancel it altogether because it was extremely slow. 7/23/21 12pm. Shortly after touchdown via SW airlines to Spokane (Washington) from PHX, (AZ) we jumped in the rental and drove east towards Coeur d'Alene. (Idaho) It is my very first visit to the beautiful state of Idaho. We stopped in downtown Coeur d'Alene to spend the day before continuing on to Sandpoint. (Idaho) Dockside was recommended to us while shopping in the cutest store on the main strip. (Marmalade's. - I'll write a review on the shops we visited as well) The restaurant is located inside the hotel and is simple and understated. Somewhat dated, diner-style ambience with the giant, glass dessert case up front. The desserts looked INCREDIBLE and they were HUUUUUGGE! We walked by the Old- fashioned, walk-up style salad bar layout on the way to be seated and even though small, the quality of the salad and toppings looked fresh and delicious... The electronic menus were a surprise and the coke machine was recently replaced.... (Our waiter told us they just got a new coke machine installed because I RAVED over how delicious the Diet Coke was. (I'm a Diet Coke addict- and I am not ashamed) All of the menu choices looked delicious and had great descriptions. The Turkey avocado sandwich (sub salad instead of fries) was INCREDIBLE!! The salad that came with the sandwich was huge and fresh! An assortment of Crisp, crunchy, organic lettuce, topped with tomato (I had blue cheese dressing AND their signature huckleberry vinaigrette.. both equally Delicious!! The ambiance was perfect! A gorgeous view of the lake watching boats motor off into the gorgeous backdrop was the perfect start to a first time visit.. our waiter, Sean, was attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, friendly and efficient. Went to the Dockside with my wife and daughter for breakfast last Saturday. Ordered three eggs Benedict dishes. Waited a half hour and was served three cold smallish plates. We usually try to just go with it but asked to send it back to redo. Second set of dishes were only slightly better. Shocked at the poor quality given the restaurant is in a high end hotel. The only thing that helped is that our waiter waived the check. But, I don't think we will ever return for a breakfast. read more

I was here for Thanksgiving dinner. I'm glad we decided to just do the dinner and did not book the two night package offered. From the moment you walk in, the space is confusing. It's like you're in a strip mall with surprisingly few shops. When you walk down the hallway with worn out chairs, wallpaper with dirty shoe prints on it, and a line of odd small unattended desks, you may find the dockside restaurant entrance if you take the correct turn. Thanksgiving dinner was served buffet style which I acknowledge can be tough but my thought is if you can't do it well, then don't do it at all. I used to work in a restaurant that served the main entree options buffet style every night of the week; there, special attention is paid to the way certain things are cooked, the level to which they are "done", and the temperature of each warming tray. I have to believe this kitchen is inexperienced in buffets. The appetizers were varied but all similarly disappointing. Cheese plates without flavor, a salad bar without much thought behind what was put out, deviled eggs that were OK. The broccoli came out of the kitchen beyond just cooked to begin with and then sat in the warming tray slowly baking into a pile of mush. The other vegetables didn't fair much better. Mashed potatoes, which are forgiving, survived their treatment and were delicious. The meats were attended by servers and were good. The dark meat was very fatty so the point were my husband opted not to eat it. The dessert selection was varied with some highlights. There was a delicious dessert they called Almond Florentine but it was a baked filling instead of a cookie. On the down side, the mini pumpkin pies were barely baked until the crusts were warmed but not done. We were happy that we could have turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. I missed having vegetable dishes. I wouldn't purchase this option again. read more

This is the 2nd time n a row that the food was so cold it was not worth eating. The rest of my group were horrified by their meal and do not plan to return. This place was amazing in the past, but over the years has really gone downhill. The food seemed low quality. My chicken dijon was quite toasted...borderline burnt on the edges. My parents ordered ceasar salad which honestly could have just come from the salad bar. Service was alright. Our waters were empty for a while and there were problems with the food that the waitress didn't come back in time to fix. For example, my parents salads were very underdressed. Overall we didn't enjoy our experience. We went there out of convenience so I guess that is what we get. I really liked this place! The wait staff was awesome and super friendly. I am visiting from Los Angeles and was charmed by the staff and the view of the lake for the prices. Definitely a two thumbs up! Earlier today, I came for lunch and ordered the trout - heard it was a local specialty. Honestly, I am not a big trout guy, but it was the best trout i have ever had. The steak was big and I loved how they used Panko. The sauce was delicious and it was gone in 60 seconds. I also feel good that the trout came with vegetables and brown rice, so it was a healthy meal. I also ordered the huckleberry lemonade. That was good too. Went down fast. I diluted it with water but I'm 40 and am trying to cut sugar - ironic! You will have a nice evening. Beware, the dish is good size, especially with the salad side. I would say the little food I had here was a solid 3 stars. There was nothing remarkable about it. It was neither special nor terrible. However, the reason I gave this place 4 stars was because of the assortment of Gooeys they offer. What are Gooeys you ask? Well, they are pieces of ice cream perfection. They are different flavors of ice cream sundaes. They have a butterfinger one, reese's peanut butter cup one, they had cheesecake one, and the special of the month when we went was the funnel cake one. For a group of 12 or so we got 3 gooeys: the anniversary, butterfinger, and the special funnel cake one. Overall, I would say the funnel cake one was my favorite. There were white chocolate covered donut holes in there. There was caramel. There was sprinkles. There was a funnel cake. Now the funnel cake itself was mediocre, but I appreciated the decorative aspect of it. I will say once you ate all the accouterments, it was mostly vanilla ice cream, but I'm not mad at it. I think the butterfinger was my second favorite and the anniversary gooey my third favorite. But it's just personal preference. I loved them all. The male server was apathetic, when he actually came around. Food was below average. The restaurant itself was almost empty, dirty, and outdated (Worth noting that ALL of our silverware was visibly caked and sticky). Perfect place for any kind of outing: date, girls lunch, family dinner, etc. The view is wonderful of the marina of the CDA resort. A must see any time of year, especially around Christmas time when you can see the marina decorated with holiday lights. I recommend the surf and turf: shrimp and steak. Great service! read more
