We're in town for a few days and I had searched Yelp for dining options. I'm so glad I bookmarked Dockside. The restaurant is in a nice hotel right on the lake. The exterior is beautiful with vivid geraniums and view of the marina. We were seated immediately and chose a both with a view of the lake. Our server, Luke, I believe, was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He was also honest about the selections, like what he liked more than others. The menu has so many good options. Trout, salmon, seafood, steaks to burgers. I took Luke's recommendation and had the pot roast. This ain't my momma's roast. It was so moist and tender. Delicious. The dinners include their salad bar which included toppings like real, large pieces of bacon and pecans. Did I say bacon? Oh hells, yes! My family had the red trout and steak. Everyone was very happy. The highlight of Dockside is their dessert menu. This is what they're known for. We were too full so took ours to go. The German chocolate was outstanding. Disappointed!! We live here and have ordered the deep six drink before. For $32 you get a very large cocktail and get to keep the glass. When you bring the glass back you pay about $15.00 for the drink. Today we came back with friends and ordered it. They wanted to keep the glass. The manger said sorry we aren't making money off it so you can't keep the glass. So we paid $32.00 for the drink without keeping the glass. The drink was not worth $32.00! The manager could've comped the glass to keep locals happy, but did not. We will not be frequenting this establishment again. So disappointed in the customer service here! read more

Do I blame it on Covid? I brought my family and out of town guests for what traditionally would be a great dining experience. First thing we noticed is the cleanliness (lack thereof) of the restaurant and the restrooms. This isn't what Mr. Hagedon would allow if he were alive. Around the table, food and crumbs were everywhere. It made you wonder if the table was actually ready for us. Menu selections were sufficient, but food quality has really slipped. Food temperatures were on the cool side, yet flavor was ok. My $43 ribeye was about the same quality as a $20 Applebee's steak. The salad bar is popular and probably the best part of the meal, so 4 stars for that. I've been bringing out of town guests to the CDA resort for well over 20 years. Normally we enjoy our meal and the excellent service (not to mention the gooey's!). Tonight (7/10) however was one of the worst meals, service and experiences I've had at any restaurant. We had a reservation for 6 & were sat at our tables in a timely manner (hence the single star). However that's where things went downhill & became a literal sh!t show. The table diagonal to us had a large family with young children, one of which had an accident that resulted in human feces being left behind on the booth and table. The mess sat there for over 30 minutes until someone from the janitorial staff finally showed up to clean it. The janitorial staff barely cleaned the booth, he sprayed a little cleaning solution & wiped the booth very quickly in the spot that was messy & that was it. For human feces sitting on a place where people sit & eat I would expect and hope for much better cleaning than what occurred-anything less than a full bleach cleaning & wipe down is unsanitary. What was gross was having to eat our appetizers with human feces in eyesight. Staff didn't acknowledge the fact that surrounding tables had to view the unsanitary conditions for so long either. Eventually our food came and it was yet another disappointment. Everything was undercooked. The Fettuccine Alfredo wasn't seasoned and was so crunchy I couldn't tell if I was eating the bacon or the pasta. 3 others in our group ate the ribeye which had so much fat in it, it was practically in edible. The potato & vegetables were raw. Another in our group ordered the Mac and cheese which had such a terrible taste & texture to it it didn't even taste like Mac & cheese (think waxy cardboard that left a coating in your mouth). Everything was a disappointment. We expressed our concerns regarding these things to Bernadette, who was the manager that evening. She did her best in handling the situation, however we will not be back nor will we recommend this place to anyone - not without serious changes all around. This is one of my favorite places to go for the salad bar, but today I found it missing many normal components that it used to have- no grapes or strawberries, and a couple other things. It seemed busy tonight, so we had our food selections in mind before even sitting down. I tried to order the pulled pork sandwich, but was told they didn't have it, and the digital menus hadn't been "updated." So I had the crab cakes, which were decent. The waitresses and hostesses seemed not to be communicating well with each other, if at all, and nobody seemed to really have a handle on what was going on- answers to normal questions seemed off-the-cuff and not based on policy. Food came quickly, which was nice, but we waited THIRTY minutes after our meal was finished for two small gooeys that we were told would take "two minutes" to make (despite having ordered the gooeys with our food orders). With a cranky young child being asked to sit an additional half hour, we had to leave before they were done being made. We asked for them to go, and of course they melted quite a bit on the way home. But here's the kicker for me- this is the third time in the past two years we have attempted to order gooeys, something Dockside is famous for, and every. Single. Time. We have waited upwards of half an hour for ICE CREAM. Why? I understand in 2020 that staffing was sparse, but now? The food came on time, but why not the ice cream? We once waited over an hour for it. We forgave and forgot the first two times, but this time I gotta say, Dockside really needs to get their act together on the gooeys. A friend from out of town was telling me all about "the Gooey" offered at this restaurant, so we decided to treat ourselves. We were told that there would be a 20 minute wait for a table but we would be able to order the Gooey at the aptly named, Gooey Bar. We ponied up to the Gooey Bar, where we sat for about 10 minutes until someone finally showed up to take our order. Bear in mind, the Gooey Bar is in full view of the kitchen area. At least 5 people (workers) in the kitchen area made eye contact with us, but not one of them alerted a server. The young lady that actually made the Gooey, stood right in front of us, busily talking to coworkers, without even acknowledging our existence. TIPS is an acronym for To Insure Proper Service. The tip reflected the service (more appropriately lack of service). The Gooey was good, though. read more

There are few places as beautiful as Lake Coeur D'Alene especially on a beautiful day and the Dockside is positioned perfectly to sit and enjoy those views all during brunch. The booths are setup to give everyone a chance to look out on the beautiful water. I have visited many times over the years and the service has always been consistent even on busy days. In addition to a solid breakfast menu they offer a fairly impressive buffet on Sunday mornings. The Eggs Benedict is one of the best as well as the smoked salmon omelette. They also have a great selection of huckleberry options which gives a nice opportunity to take advantage of a local fruit! I always take my out of town visitors here because it is a great introduction to the beautiful northwest! read more

The breakfast menu here is good, handy if you are staying at the resort. I had trout and eggs and upgraded my toast for a cheddar biscuit for an extra $1. My SO ordered the all-American breakfast with the "Coeur d'Alene style" French toast (there was a choice of that and regular French toast). The coffee was good, dark and robust; it may have been slightly on the burnt end of the spectrum, but better than brown water from other attempts both in the resort and out. The trout was crispy and perfectly cooked, yet slightly fishy, with lots of brown flesh; perhaps one with a larger than normal blood line, as can happen with salmon at times. It was not anywhere near as good as the trout at the nearby Garnet Cafe, which is far better if you have more time. The biscuit was rich, cheesy, and had bacon and green onions, something like I would make myself, yet it was slightly overdone, as if it had been in a commercial kitchen holding oven for a long time. My SO had that special French toast and gave me a bite; I was jealous, as it was crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Made with a crusty French bread, it also had a slight coating of corn flakes for added crunch. Really tasty. The view and service are both five stars. We asked for a window seat and enjoyed the morning light on the lake. You can see this from all the pics; that's what this place is all about. The service was good, cheerful and attentive. Best of all, it was quick, so we could hit the road. The highlights really were the coffee, view, service and convenience. Oh, and that special Coeur d'Alene French toast, for certain. I have never had a high opinion of this place and my experience Christmas Eve Day did not improve my opinion. We were booked on an early cruise to santa's island and our adult kids wanted to eat here. Nothing I could say would dissuade them so, ok. First the "Kids' Buffett" for our grand kids: At $11.00/head this included room temperature tater tots, room temperature (and hard) grilled cheese sandwiches and luke warm spaghetti and tomato sauce. It was truly icky. The adult ordered a variety of things including the salad bar, fish and chips, tacos and a french dip. The adult meals came in fits and starts over about an hour with the french dip finally arriving in the form if a Ruben when everyone else had finished. A casual poll of the group found no one thought thier meal was very good. Couple this with slow and indifferent service and it was just a terribly unsatisfying experience. Just went back for the first time since they remodeled and revamped their menu. The most appropriate one word description of the experience would be MEH. The prices are even higher, some of the best menu items are gone, and the quality has gone downhill, in my opinion. I was super disappointed with my entree and the appetizers we shared as a table. The salad bar was the best part of the meal. Don't get the fish and chips. Tasted like the frozen kind you can buy at the grocery store. The clam chowder used to be amazing here, and it was NOT the same. Also, the artichoke dip was not nearly as good, and the shrimp and crab cakes were a joke! $20 for two tiny, sub-par patties. The brunch buffet is really good other than the bacon but I'm picky with how I like my bacon the prime reib is amazing I honestly love the brunch Bussey however the menu most the time is too expensive for not that good of food but I strongly recommend the buffet they have different people cooking and it's super good it's honestly the only thing saving their rating and the only reason I come anymore also the veiw is very nice so I'll guess that will give them points. read more

I came here when I arrived in town on the recommendation of a friend. He raved about the the french dip on a grilled french roll with swiss cheese so that's what I ordered. Indeed, it was very good. Portion was on the small size. The horseradish sauce was amazing to me but was little too spicy for my wife. She had the salad bar which for $12.95 is a tremendous value. Views of the lake were great and the service was solid throughout the meal. We arrived about 2 pm on a tuesday and the place was full with no waiting. I'd suggest you get a reservation if your planning to come prime time. Very classy setting. I'll be back. read more

The setting for this restaurant is awesome, especially with all of the Christmas decorations on display. The view was delightful. The service was very good. The food was mostly a disappointment. While the Cougar gold cheese artichoke dip was very good, it only comes with 4 slices of bread (for 4 people). They also provided some chips but the dip was not as pleasing on them as it was on the bread. I ordered the loaded baked potato set up as I wasn't extremely hungry. I'm sorry to say that it wasn't completely cooked and wasn't hot at all...just barely warm. The very hard seasoned butter did not melt at all when I spread it on the potato. The potato should have been rocket hot and the butter room temperature. My husband had the prime rib french dip and declared it the second or third worst french dip sandwiches he has had. While the meat had a nice flavor, the bread on which it was served was soggy when it should have been crisply toasted. Such a let down especially in light of the setting, the beautiful ambience and the prices. I'd hope they could do better. We probably will not be back. read more

Dockside was my absolute favorite restaurant when I was in Idaho on vacation. The views were spectacular, the weather was perfect and the food was hot and absolutely delicious! I had about four different meals while I stayed there. Each time I had a fabulous dessert with a nice cup of coffee. The waiters and waitresses were so good and quick. The service was fabulous. Been coming here for years and sadly we have seen the service decline over the last year. We went in for dinner Wednesday and got seated promptly as we had reservations. That's when everything began to fall. We were a large party (12) and after being seated for 7-8 minutes I asked if anyone knew who our server was? A few minutes later a waiter arrived and spoke to 3-4 of us and walked off. I looked at my dad and asked "what did I miss"? A few minutes later he showed up with drinks for the 4 people he spoke to. I flagged him down and he came over and asked if I "was ready to order". Uh ok. I ordered an ice tea and the crab cakes for an appetizer. My wife asked to taste a glass of the red wine on the menu before she ordered one. She also ordered the bbq chicken salad. The waiter goes around and takes the rest of the orders for the party. 15-20 minutes later we see the food coming out. The waiter starts passing out food and I notice 3 people are missing food, I am missing the crab cakes, my ice tea, my wife's wine (taste). The waiter seems puzzled and realizes people are missing food etc and says "I'll be back". He returns with 2 dishes for the 3 guests missing food. Still no crab cakes, no ice tea, no wine. He walks off (far end of the table so not close to me) before checking to see if anyone needed anything etc. I'm irritated at this point and I walk over to the service bar. I explain the drink situation to the bartender and show him where we are seated. He is super cool, gives me my ice tea and pours a taste of the wine for my wife. I return to the table and realize my brother and his wife are missing this drinks (2 Stella's) that I saw in the bar service window when I was getting my tea. I walk back over to the bartender and ask if the beers are for our table and he says yea they are. A nice waitress was at the window and said she would be happy to drop them off and proceeded to carry them to our table. At this point, half of the party is done eating, 1 person is still missing their food and still no waiter. We see him at another table a few minutes later and I wave him over. I point out that my niece still never got her food (mac & cheese). He looks confused and says "oh" and heads off to the kitchen. He comes back a few minutes later with her food (finally) and asks my wife if she wants another glass of wine. Another?? She never got one how can she get a second? We wrap up, get the checks and the crab cakes and glass of wine are on my bill. My brother has a charge for a salad bar that no one ordered. We point out the items that weren't ordered or received and his reply (again) "oh". Cmon dockside. You have to do better than this. The kicker......19% auto gratuity added. Great service! We ordered one meal for my mom and my aunt and they automatic split the dish in two. The food is pretty good, can be better as the grilled salmon was little dried. The crab salad was delicious, fresh and tasty. We tried their dessert (huckleberry sorbet). Love the real huckleberry in the bottom but a little too sweet for me :) anyway great experience and great view! Recommended this place to all my friends read more

We were here on a family vacation at the resort. Came for dessert and a drink on our first night. The Gooey was great, but the drink was subpar. Came back the next night for dinner because we saw halibut on the menu. It was HORRIFIC! Seriously the nastiest thing I have ever tasted and our server did not even bother to ask why I only ate 1 bite of my entire meal. The fries were burnt and dry and the cole slaw was terrible. We stopped in here to eat breakfast on our way to Montana. The food and service are good, but you really go here for the view!!! If you were just passing through, and not staying at the hotel you can take your ticket inside from the parking garage, and have it validated. Otherwise it's $20 a day to park. The prices of food are very reasonable. If you go for breakfast they also have a buffet available. We chose to order. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. There biscuits are very unique and have some herbs inside them... Very good!! Because the food and service were good I would definitely go back. My wife and I came here for Christmas Eve dinner. Fairly casual atmosphere with a great view of the Christmas lights. I ordered a salad so I could try the Butterfinger Gooey. The Dockside Salad was very tasty, and the Gooey was satisfying (I had to get the personal size), but a bit short on the fudge. It was more like a couple of scoops of ice cream with a few butterfingers in the mix. Not bad, but not quite what I expected. Service was great :-) read more

Have visited Dockside and stayed at the resort several times over the years. Have been here for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. Meals have always tasted great and appeared handcrafted. They also had the best coffee. Upon our return last night we were greeted with a cup of lukewarm coffee which has definitely been changed over to the bitter coffee giants (starbucks) blend! Second cup was hot. I would come here just for the delicious coffee and now it has been changed for to the taste of corporate America! Nice job selling out. As for the food, had a turkey avocado melt sandwich and carne asada tacos. Sandwich was a salty tasting brined meat on an oily piece of sourdough, avocado was great. Fries were run of mill restaurant style fries. Carne asada tacos were very unappealing and placed in small paper boats. Carne asada is generally a delicious skirt steak or nicely chunked or chopped beef grilled and seasoned. Ours appeared to be left over roast beef slices in a greenish mix of onions and they did no smell appealing. Spanish rice was dry and bland but the black bean relish was excellent. Definitely a disappointing meal and hope along with Starbucks you haven't gone over to serving meals provided by FSA. Staff and service was excellent besides being aware of coffee temp. Tacos were comped after wife, who rarely complains said they were no bueno. Will maybe try breakfast and Sunday buffet this weekend but probably go with salad bar for other meals. This review has been a long time coming. That said, I want to preface that this review is for DESERT only! I've had other items at dockside, and it's all pretty good, but I would likely give that a slightly lower score (4 stars). Now, to the review: We've been to dockside for desert many times. It's really the best place to go in the area for desert. The variety, the quality... OMG! I've tried: * Most of the gooeys - they're all REALLY good. I especially like the cheesecake one. The ice cream is excellent, the toppings are wonderful and plentiful and the presentation is nice as well. Just be prepared, they are HUGE! * The creme brulee - this is my personal favorite. It's not only really good, but they serve it with side items you can dip in it (cookies, lemon bars, etc). This seems like heresy, but try it out, its yummy, promise! * The lemoncello cake - super good, sweet, lemony * Coconut cake - good, but was not my favorite thing on the menu Skip dinner, or have a salad, stop in here, you won't be disappointed. read more

This was the Restaurant chosen by the bride. Reservations were made well in advance. They were not busy at the time of our arrival. We were placed in a separate room that was cramped. There was no view. The restaurant was aware that this was a bridal party. There was adequate space for our entire party to have been seated by the windows with a view. This was not done. When the bride arrived, she was the last to arrive to dinner, she was told that they were around the corner in another room and not even pointed towards the room let alone shown to the room where her family was waiting for her. Mediocre food at best. Fair service for a large group. It was an extremely disappointing experience. I do not recommend Dockside for large groups or special occasions. read more
