It's too bad the food is so terrible!! This restaurant has the capability of being such an amazing place inside a beautiful resort right on Lake Coeur d'Alene! Growing up in Cortolane I've gone to dockside mini times for several occasions our last visit was last week with my mother-in-law, her mom and my two daughters. We ordered the prime rib dip, a toasted turkey and avocado sandwich, a cheesecake gooey, and the kids chicken strip meal. The sandwich the prime rib dip was absolutely disgusting the meat tasted old and dry. With that sandwich I ordered a side salad and the lettuce was wilted and the blue cheese dressing was so runny it was like water. My mother-in-lawsandwich sandwich she said was just OK and the turkey was really dry and kind of slimy. The quality on my daughters chicken tenders was absolutely disgusting I've had better chicken tenders at a dive bar. The fruit that came with the children's plate was mushy and brown and disgusting my girls spit it out. And to top it off the cheesecake was really dry. I've honestly think I've ever left two bad reviews for restaurants ever and this is one of them our host didn't even greet us or say welcome or anything and our waitress wasn't very kind or uplifting. I really wanted my visit to be enjoyable but, unfortunately, was disappointed this time around. Dockside has such potential, but it can't seem to decide what kind of restaurant it wants to be. It resides in the Coeur D'Alene resort and offers beautiful lakeside views for diners. The menu and pricing would suggest finer dining, whilst the food and ambiance make it feel like any other chain restaurant. My biggest beef was with the salmon cakes. They weren't bad, but could have been much better, especially considering wild pacific salmon are in full season! My family has visited Dockside several times over the years for dinner or just dessert. My mom remains a devoted fan of their salad bar, and since I've never tried it I wont knock it. I remember the ice cream desserts could stop one in their tracks by just the sheer size, but since we didn't do dessert this time I can't judge. If you're looking for a place to please about anyone, i suppose Dockside fits the bill at a fairly high cost. But if you're looking for an elevated dining experience, I'd say there are better options in the immediate vicinity. read more

For the prices the food should be better. I went here with my family to try it out. I ordered a hot skillet meal. When it got to the table it wasn't hot at all. It was luke warm at best and the potatoes were supposed to be golden fried cubes but they were mushy. My mom had a toasted sandwich that was cold on the inside. My brother was the only one who said his dish was just right. He had a cheeseburger. Aside from my annoyance with the food, yeah the view is great. But I still don't think its worth what the bill came to for a lunch. Sort of ridiculous. I think if I were to come back, it would just be for some dessert. read more

The view is good but I was not impressed with the restaurant. The kitchen is open and can be viewed as you enter. It was filthy. I would have walk out after seeng very poor cleanliness of the kitchen but I was meeting extended family for dessert. My son is allergic to soy. The staff and the chef could not tell me if any of the dessert did or did not contain soy. How do you not keep a list of ingredients on hand for guests with allergies. read more

Sadly the Dockside seems to be in decline as our last couple of visits have been less than impressive. The quality of food has been hit and miss and service now lacks what once made them more special. On both recent visits we've had to send food back because it was wrong and cold. Last night our most expensive entree was too cold to melt the butter atop either the steak or potato. The potato was replaced with a smaller version of the same that was so old it was gray inside and barely warm to the touch. Service was slow and distracted. Since we always bring 5-8 people it's no longer worth the drive or $. Time to find a new CDA favorite. read more

I had French toast here a few years ago and I remember it being the best French toast of all time. I went back here last weekend and was sad that I couldn't order French toast since breakfast was over. So, I opted for a turkey sandwich and the hubby got the brunch buffet. The turkey sandwich was overall tasty. The bread was buttered like Texas toast - yum! What was disappointing was that it came with the lamest avoacado slices I've ever been served at a restaurant. I had to open my sandwich and look before I saw two small measly pieces. Other than that, the sandwich was a-okay! The skinny fries accompanying the sandwich were good. Salty and crunchy! We enjoyed an early dinner with a very good clam chowder and Caesar salad followed by a delicious Salmon Oscar (crab pieces over the salmon with a bearnaise sauce) with pilaf and sautéed fresh vegetables. Hoping for better especially inside a nice resort and overlooking the lake. The hostess was especially accommodating, as we were 20 minutes past our reservation time due to road tripping. This restaurant needs a major renovation overhaul; the slab of random carpet nailed over in the banguet room where they were serving Sunday brunch, seats weren't wiped down before we were seated, carpet in restaurant desperately needed a vacuum or carpet sweep, buffet area was extremely messy (food was great, but dropped food and crumbs everywhere), no one at omelet station and guy who finally came had to go slice off a piece of ham and then tore it up with his fingers for our omelette....server nice but no sense of urgency at all. Bathroom ok, again looks like decorated in 1980's .. if refurbished it would be much better. read more

Likely some of the worst service I've ever had (thanks to our server Brett) who not only didn't bring our food himself but never checked on how AWFUL the food was either and just brought us the bill. Fantastic lake view; open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; pretty reasonable prices, considering the location. Friendly service. Breakfast buffet had good selection for about $15/adults; $8 kids - eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, French toast, pancakes, eggs, fruit, cereal, etc. I had the red trout w/ eggs, and it was good, but too heavy/greasy. First of all, the salad bar is worth the trip itself if you're really into salads. We shared the ahi tuna and Idaho trout as our mains which were both really good. The only thing I would say is that the teriyaki sauce kinda drowned the vegetables and made them pretty salty. Otherwise the prices for entrees with one trip to the salad bar was totally reasonable. Then dessert. Oh my god. We've tried (so far) the Reese's gooey- with super rich peanut butter sauce, the cashew caramel cake- with chewy caramel and heavenly ganache, and the coconut cake- layered with light mousse and amazing coconut filling. I will not leave coeur dalene without trying at LEAST one more of the cakes because they are GODSENT !! 10/10 worth the drive from our lake house lol read more

A BEAUTIFUL view of the lake with lots of activity from planes taking off and landing on the water, boats, jet skis, and people watching....I ordered the Bourban Glazed Steak which I devoured along with the salad bar and Famous Idaho potato. The salad bar was decent.....but the potato was just average, which in essense makes it a bit of a disapointment due to the marketing as the Famous Idaho Potato! Still....great location to the area you can have lunch and walk on the floating barge/pier afterwards or walk across the street for some shopping. read more

I've been here numerous times over the years and the food is just standard, not much flavor, but very expensive. The last time there we had halibut. I love the Crab Louie salad at the Dockside. Such a bright and sunny space with gorgeous lake views.

One star is too much. We were willing to wait twenty minutes for a table, only to be put at a terrible table. The tables were too close, not following any social distancing. It looked like a cafeteria, instead of a resort restaurant. When we asked for a different table they said the tables were reserved and weren't making any accommodations nor did they offer a next up table. Dockside was amazing! The service was fantastic and the view was so beautiful. There's nothing like watching the sunset on the water while eating some amazing food. I got the cashew stir fry with chicken and wow!! It was so good. Not to mention they have a killer salad bar. Also, you should really try the mac n cheese!! Love this place. The best part of this place is the view. My husband and I went there at sunset to share a bottle of wine and some calamari. It ended up being $40 so not to bad. The servers were friendly enough and the manager brought us the app. Definitely worth going to for a treat. read more

This place is wonderful. Who ever selects the staff is very good. No snotty nose burger flipping don't want to work entitled perps here. Very professional I assume to cater to the upscale hotel clients. We came pretty casual since we were tourist. Two of us had a meal with the salad bar and two had meals without. The salad bar was fantastic with everything fresh. They have some special dressings. I had the pot roast and my guest had the appetizer crab cakes. The view was perfect over the boats and the lake. I'd have to say the view and decor are top notch. The food on the other hand, just about average. I had the ahi tuna, maybe that was the problem? While some pieces were not bad, the others were fairly chewey, not something I would expect for tuna. I ordered this along with the famous salad bar as the menu had put it, decent selection I guess, but I never ended up going for a second round, something I usually do when there is an available salad bar. Lastly this meal was sided with a famous un-loaded in my case, baked potato. Potato tasted like what I had expected, eventhough I was in Idaho. Don't know how it relates to reserving on Open Table. We were there for dinner. Great Views... On the plus side... The desserts are delicious! The views are phenomenal. On the downside... The price is high for the portion size of what I ordered. I didn't get a lot of gluten free options which was kinda disappointing. The wait staff was pleasant, but seemed a bit annoyed I only wanted water. Overall, good experience. Best clam chowder I have ever had, and I've eaten the chowders in San Fran, Seattle , Maine and Boston to mention a few places..big hunks of clams , not a lot of potatoes and great flavor with bits of bacon..had the seared ahi, really good ...waiter started of as a rock star then got onto the missing in action category.. Visiting from California, We booked a home through Airbnb for a wedding and our host had Dockside listed specifically for the gooeys. Exactly what we were looking for! We had the Reese's Gooey and it was amazing. We had a fairly large group of primarily kids, and our server was very friendly and prompt. Unfortunately our 2 year old had a meltdown towards the end so we had to hurry out since an older couple sitting nearby were very vocal about our son in addition to eye rolls and glares. That was very upsetting to us. When visiting again we most likely will go without the kids since the vibe we got wasn't very welcoming from patrons. Kind of a bummer, but it is what it is. read more

I'm not going to elaborate on the CDA resort itself... but rather on dining at Dockside... Dockside has a nice cozy environment and a terriffic little dessert bar called 'Gooey's'. If you are looking for a nice dinner... you may want to look elsewhere... I'm not a fan of the menu at Dockside. But as a place for desserts... Gooey's gets my vote. I'm a personal fan of the huckleberry cobbler with chocolate ice cream (some think it is an acquired taste). Dockside has proven to be an ideal place for late night gatherings. My family and I came for the Christmas brunch which was good. The buffet food was labeled indicating what the dish was and said to ask server about the gluten free option available for the dish. When I asked the server (who was great) she didn't know what I was talking about, but found a manager to ask. There wasn't an alternative to the dishes already made so I ended up eating mostly for the standard salad bar and veggies from the anti-pasta bar. This was really good, but not worth the $40 cost of the meal. The brunch didn't even include mimosas. Though I did have a couple huckleberry mimosas which were amazing! Had lunch here the other day with friends from out of town: food was terrible:( Ordered the Oriental salad with chicken for extra cost, they forgot the chicken and when asked they quickly brought out a nasty, microwaved chicken breast then charged me for it! My wife had the wrap: dry chicken, and they forgot the dressing! At least there was entertainment: they tried to bring out meals to the neighboring table FOUR times, even after the table had paid! The elderly ladies kept saying 'no thank you, we've already gotten our food.' I was too embarrassed to speak up with our friends there, but we won't be back. read more

We are locals who have come here for years. The service is changed so much. Getting seated today asked if we could sit on other side for the view and got the biggest attitude. I would give this place a zero if I could. I just experienced the worst customer service ever and I dine out very frequently. This place clearly does not educate their staff in customer relations and that includes the manager. I went for dinner with my family since we were staying in the resort and it is conveniently located. My meal was prepared incorrectly so it had to be sent back meanwhile my husband and children have their meals but are waiting for us all to be able to eat together. When my meal came back it was littered with fat and slopped together on the plate. I chose to give up at this point and sent it back and asked my family to eat their now cold meals my son asked for a piece of bread and they had the nerve to want to charge for it. I was appalled. Really, you sent made my dish incorrectly twice, my family's dinner is now cold, I wasnt eating at all anymore and you have the audacity to expect me to pay for a slice of bread. I am completely disgusted by the customer service we received especially from the manager. I paid my almost $200 bill and ate nothing with no apology of any kind. We are staying in the resort for a week and never again will I patron this establishment. They lost an excellent consistent customer and tipper. read more
