Slow service and okay food. I live in the south... people who say that southerners move slow have not been to Dockside in Idaho. It took 30 minutes to get someone to put water in our glass... After we waited for 40 minutes to get a table. We were seated at at 7:15 and didn't get out until almost 10! Our server was grumpy and not worth a 20% tip... as for the food, it took so long to get water that two members of my party didn't want to wait for food and decided to get the salad bar for dinner which contained usual options- romaine, mixed greens, cottage cheese, some oranges that come from a can, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and so on with a few of Kens salad dressings to choose from (around $18 per person). One member of my party had the salmon which was actually good. I had a green goddess salad that they were able to make GF. We also had a bottle of the local wine (around $30) Our total was $140 with the tip. Ambiance is lovely with pretty views of the water. Our service was so slow that we were able to watch the sunset. Food is better here than at Cedars, their floating restaurant. Location is convenient for those staying at the resort. read more

We are here for brunch on a Sunday, so the buffet was popular. I decided to go with the buffet, but was disappointed to not find much that conforms with my diet restrictions. Everything was carby bread or fatty meat, there just weren't enough fruit and vegetable options. I did try several things I normally don't eat, and I have to admit the brown sugar bacon was delicious, but for over $30 per person, I just didn't feel like the calorie overload was a satisfying meal. My normal daily breakfast is a bowl of standard oatmeal, but their version was "creme brulee oatmeal" - it tasted good, but was the texture of bread pudding and likely 4x the calories. I should have more seriously considered ordering from the menu, and perhaps could have found something better there. My wife enjoyed the $1 mimosas! read more

We were very underwhelmed and got sick after eating here. My son who never gets sick was so sick to his stomach after eating the Mac n Cheese with added bacon that he stayed in bed all night. We had the calamari to start with and that too was nothing special. I had the salmon and have been on a salmon binge lately and this was the worst by far. The rice was cooked days before and my husband and I felt the veggies were from the night before and soaked in oil and very bland and soft. I gave 2 stars because my husband liked the salad bar. I had the Baked Mac n Cheese. I was expecting a lot more for $17. It was plain and I could have done better with Kraft. I am disappointed in the quality of the food and price. I also got the Chocolate Gooey full size which easliy shared between 4 people. It was amazing, to feed 4 people dessert for $15 was worth the price on that end. The salad bar had many options but the quality of the lettuce wasn't the best. The view of the Lake was amazing! The booth was comfy. The staff was very friendly. I've been here before for brunch and love it, but I was thoroughly unhappy and unimpressed this time around The blackened spiced catfish with mango salsa was bland and undercooked. "For Cruise People" If you are are an extreme cruise tourist, if you are just visiting the area, and if you choose to go to Dockside, you'll immediately know where to go and what to order. This is top of the line Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Food hands down. The smell, the look, the layout, and the dozens of large families all sitting down will immediately bring you back to that sweet cruise vacation you were just on. Everything on the menu is pretty good, it just all costs around a million dollars, and drink orders sometimes take a couple years before you get them. Their breakfast buffet (on every Sunday) is pretty good too, you'll just have to pay two million dollars for that. But like I said: if you are a frequent cruiser, you'll enjoy this place as it will feel like you've been here before. read more

Negative attitude, we had to flag him down multiple times, long delays between courses, took forever to bring silverware after we asked for it, condiments never arrived and we ended up asking other servers, the list goes on. We made reservations for a Sunday evening. Our waiter took over 15 minutes to greet us. He said maybe 10 words to use the whole time, was not personable or polite. The sun was beating down on us and shining in our eyes the entire time, making it unbelievably hot and uncomfortable. Our waters were not refilled. Our drinks came way after our food arrived. Brought the family to the Dockside after the Santa cruise last night. Menu looked more than promising but sadly our dinners (all but the fish and chips) were cold. I was thrilled that my salmon wasn't overcooked but it, the crab and sauce were room temperature at best. This was the same experience for the others in my party who had cooked entrees. Since we did have children with us, the idea of sending it back was not conducive to their bedtime schedules. I realize that is was a very busy evening but they were obviously having problems expediting things. The 3 in our party who got chowder had them all arrive at different times through the meal. My second cocktail was delivered after I was finished eating. The children's buffet was a nice touch. They were able to get a couple of different items for the littles and kept them entertained for a while. I'm sure we will be back (their Sunday brunch has been amazing in the past) I hope our next visit will be better. read more

Again, went to dockside for their famous Gooey. Once again, was served my gooey in a warm plastic goblet and this time had barely any chocolate sauce or peanut butter sauce. Very disappointed again. This place has the worst management ever, I've never been treated like a child more at a restaurant in my life. Manager brought security over to scan ALL of our IDs (which all scanned because we were all 21+), then still refused to serve us because we didn't look the part. Made us sit and wait 45 minutes with no food or no drinks to tell us they couldn't serve us. We were a party of 12. Literally left out an additional 200 dollars worth of alcohol for them, such a terrible business move. Explaining to my colleges' community to never give CDA resort and hotel business because they will treat you like children with continuous passive-aggressive disrespect. This place has been impressive every time I have been there (with one exception - my fish was overcooked, sent back, and taken off the check). However, it has been one of favorite restaurants I have ever dined in anywhere in this country. The finest prime rib I have had anywhere is here at Dockside (even the famous House of Prime Rib in San Francsico is not as good, and that's saying a lot). I would give it 10 stars, if I could. It is only available for dinner on Friday and Saturdays, and it is best to come early (as soon as they start serving it). It is amazing. One of the few times I could say it almost seemed to melt in your mouth. Enormous fresh salad bar. And you must try one of their renowned Gooey desserts! A great place for families, couples, business. We finally figured out that a nice way to do dinner there is to go to the bar at Beverly's on the 7th floor first for appetizers and cocktails, then go back downstairs to the Dockside for dinner (Beverly's is also wonderful, but pricey, and they do not serve the prime rib). The view is stunning, especially during the holidays. All the thousands and thousands of lighting displays are truly breathtaking. Service has always been above par. This place is definitely NOT to be missed. read more

Came for restaurant week and won't be back. Salmon "crepes" were a mess. It reminded me of a folded tortilla with canned salmon on top. The Bison must have sat in the window for a while as there was a dry crust over the top but the bison itself wasn't much different. We expressed our disappointment to the waitress as she brought the second course and she gave us her apology and walked away. I knew as soon as they brought the first course that we should have just paid for your drinks and left, but we wanted to give it a shot. Won't make that mistake again. I will however give the Huckleberry Sorbet a 10/10. Glad we paid $100 just to enjoy dessert. read more

We visited during a trip in August 2021 and fell in love! I think we came back 2-3 times on that visit. The staff was great, and the food was delicious. Our entire group always mentions taking a trip back to Idaho just for Dockside. The fettuccini is to die for. I still can't find one that even comes close to Dockside's! The dessert's are the icing on the cake. So fun, and delicious! We have already planned our trip for August 2022 so we can enjoy dockside again. read more

Visiting from out of town. Went to Dockside the first night I got in with two friends. Server took our order, then we sat for 1 hour while other patrons were served, ate and left. We had to walk up to the server to ask about our food. He blamed it on the kitchen staff. Clearly, food was being served to others. Visited this place for the famous "Gooeys" and they delivered! My son loved The Reese's Pieces one. We also tasted the Chocolate Obsession one , yum!! For dinner I went with the salad bar, it was decent. No warm/hot foods, but a good selection of salad toppings and dressing. The chicken curry was pretty good too. Service was friendly and fast. Very nice restaurant inside the CDA resort. I have come here several times for lunch. This really is a 5 on view and a 3 on food. Well their deserts get a 10!! Prices are high but the views are fantastic. Their salad bar is always fresh, but could use some additional options. The menu has some interesting options but is not as good as the view . I'm mad that I hadn't discovered Dockside until this summer because I have truly been missing out. It is ideal for a family gathering, and that is what finally, fatefully, brought me there. Dockside is located on the lobby level of The Coeur d'Alene Resort at the water's edge. Views for days! As we stumbled in on a Sunday late morning (after an ill advised "nature hike") we noticed a massive and delicious looking buffet in an adjoining room and a case filled with desserts. I'm definitely coming back for you soon, desserts, but today I had more serious sustenance on my mind. I had just done a "nature hike" after all (good thing Dockside is casual because we were a little rough around the edges from our adventure). Immediately I noticed the adorable matching outfits on the wait staff. They were really just so cute. I also noticed the hyper legit salad bar. It had a nice selection of pasta salads within the salad bar that looked like they would be $14.99 a pound. So, of course I added a trip to the salad bar on with my burger and fries order. It was one of those yummy local bacon situations that exceeded my expectations. I'm in town from Tucson to visit my family for a few days, and last night we celebrated my SIL's birthday here, because she wanted a Gooey. My brother told me that was the main reason to come. :) The menu isn't huge, but you can tell by looking at it that the chef takes their food very seriously. Everything looked delicious. My dad and one brother had the salad bar, my mom opted for the burger (Bill Moos, who farmed the cattle that gave its life for said burger, is a long time friend of hers and they grew up together!), SIL had the seafood linguine, another brother had a steak and I chose the sesame crusted ahi. I am not a big fan of seafood, firstly. However, I went off the beaten path and was glad I did. I was very tempted by the steamer clams, but the ahi was really very good. It came with rice in a wonton bowl, teriyaki veggies, along with wasabi and pickled ginger. In retrospect, it was kind of like a deconstructed sushi roll. I also love sesame in and on everything, and the liberal coating of both black and white sesame seeds was a great contrast against the extremely rare fish. I would have loved the coconut cake for dessert (I studied the menu intently beforehand) but we ended up with two Gooeys to share, the Anniversary (I think) and something else with Reese's in it. The ten of us - six adults and four kids - split them amongst ourselves and my almost eight year old niece happily finished what was left. Even at night, the view is just lovely. I was kind of reminded of going to Ivar's in Seattle and looking out over the water from the big dining room. I'd love to go again on a summer evening and watch the sun go down from there. Also, the big aquarium with all the koi (and a Betta, I think) is just terrific! The kids and I loved looking at the fish, and the lounge area, which should be called the designated Gooey Recovery Area, with a view of the fish, is what's up. Dockside has the view you hope to see when you visit Coeur D'Alene Resort. Along with a stunning view, you get unique food (seafood is most impressive), beautifully presented, friendly environment (restaurant & resort staff), and a "gooey". Located on the first floor of Coeur D'Alene Resort, Dockside is easily accessible through the main lobby and they offer free parking in the covered garage. This is what we call a "gooey" and they are world famous for a reason. We ordered their "Coeur D'Alene Anniversary Gooey" with cake batter ice cream, chunks of brownies and blondies, strawberry, hot fudge and huckleberry sauces, huckleberry white chocolate bark, chopped nuts and a jumbo chocolate dipped strawberry on top. Every bite was different and unique to the last. Their peanut butter cup "gooey" was calling my name but life is about compromise.. so now we have to come back for more. They have a dirt & worms dessert that kids go crazy for, too. The food was fantastic, but the dessert is such a spectacle (not to mention incredibly filling). I think next time we will come to Dockside just for a gooey. We could only take a couple bites before we were full so it is definitely enough for a big group to share. You can't quite tell... but this gooey is gigantic. Let's just say we waddled out of there and will be hiking all day tomorrow to work it off. read more

After a few years, I returned to the Dockside for dessert on Fathers Day. Had a little bit of lunch and my goodness! Their food has improved tremendously! It's well worth the hefty price now. Had the fettuccine shrimp Alfredo and it was very tasty! There wasn't really anything special about the Alfredo but the shrimp was absolutely to die for.
