Bartender was incredibly friendly, offered wonderful recommendations, and remembered my name throughout my stay! Counter service food, separate from the bar. Fun seafood apps and an intentional mains menu make this a great spot for a light dinner or apps and drinks! I had the daily catch, which was amberjack, citrus rub, with slaw and taters. It was a lovely meal with flaky fish, tangy slaw, and decadent potatoes! Good value for the cost! Had the Gone Fishing to drink, which came served in a themed bobber glass. We stumbled into Trophy Fish on a cloudy afternoon for happy hour with zero expectations and left genuinely impressed. The prices were awesome: $1 oysters, $5 hush puppies, $5 tacos, $10 cocktails. Everyday from 4-6pm. At that price point you really can't go wrong! For us the oysters were the star of the show... were they the best looking oysters I've ever had? No. Were they amazing for a dollar each? Absolutely yes! The hush puppies were really good as well... not dry at all, perfectly done, and the dipping sauce alongside them was spot on. The tacos were a solid addition to the spread: good flavors, nothing that blew us away, but a nice way to round things out. The shrimp taco was the winner between the two, we'd probably skip the chicken next time. The chorizo creamed corn was a pleasant surprise as well, and I'm not even a big corn person! The outdoor patio has a really cute vibe too... we were there on a cloudy day and it was still charming. Would love to come back on a sunny afternoon and make a proper happy hour afternoon of it. Showed up around 5pm on a Saturday and the place was pretty busy! The bartender asked if it was our first time and then explained we seat ourselves, order at the bar for drinks and at a separate counter for food, and sent us on our way. We really loved the vibe of the place, and I honestly loved the service style. And it was happy hour which made it even better! We ordered the hush puppies, and while they were mediocre themselves, the 727 sauce they came with was freaking awesome. We also got a dozen oysters (for $12 total!) and they were awesome. Lastly, we ordered the day boat fresh catch with citrus rub, pineapple cabbage slaw, chorizo creamed corn and pineapple tartar sauce. The two fresh fish options were Red Drum or Amberjack. We went with the Red Drum. The sides were amazing, so was the sauce, and the fish was good too! As for drinks, I got a glass of rose for $5 and my boyfriend got a Salty Dawg for $10! I would absolutely come back. I loved the vibes here. People had their dogs, there was lots of laughter, feels secluded with the tall plants around the restaurant, the floor in covered in shells. Awesome atmosphere, good food and excessive pricing on routine drinks equals 3 stars. I would've said 4 stars but it takes away from the dining experience when you feel places are getting greedy and gouging you. A vodka and soda water for example is $11 and standard white wine was higher... Come on man! Absent that, the place is really cool with all outdoor seating, a very fun atmosphere and very good seafood and sides. Service was very friendly at the food window and at the bar. This is a great place, it's an outdoor only establishment with a covered bar. The atmosphere was amazing and just that alone, it sold me even before I even ate anything. The customer service is the next best thing about this establishment. We were warmly welcomed and greeted as soon as we walked in by the manager. For food I had the shrimp po-boy that was really good. We ordered the hush puppies as an appetizer but I couldn't eat them because they had jalapeño inside and on top of them. We also had the cooked oysters that were okay, they were a little busy in my opinion with ingredients but they were a strong B. My wife had the red grouper and she thought it was good but a little over seasoned. My wife had a grapefruit salty dog which was delicious and I noticed that almost everyone at the bar had a pistachio mai tai, which the manger told me it was really good. So I'll try one next time I strongly recommend this establishment for dining. It's a quaint little place and they have a happy hour that we will try out soon. read more

Found this place here on Yelp. Love the idea that you can order at the bar and the food window and keep an open tab as opposed Drinks were very good and pretty to look at! The fish dip was excellent. We shared the panko crusted mahi mahi ( a huge portion) and chose the kale chimichurri sauce (delicious). We did try the Cajun sauce first, but it was a bit too mayo-y for us. The pineapple slaw was yummy, as was the trophy taters ( smothered in guacamole). The blackened fries were perfect- and I am not a big fry person. Staff was friendly - Alina was great! I tried trophy fish again. It was amazing, the red drum was the best cooked fish I've ever had this time. I was in the area with family in town and I brought them here. All of our food was amazing and they loved it. The corn is to die for. No one was there when we went. We came on a Sunday about 45 minutes until close so maybe that's the difference because when I went when they were busy the fish was terribly cooked! 4 starts for the inconsistency and I guess I will only be able to go when they are not busy. This is by far the best fish we've had in the area. The dishes are cooked with care and are all outstanding! We absolutely love the blackened fish, tater tots (potatoes with fresh garlic), and the pineapple slaw. We have no problem driving 45 minutes each way just to eat at this amazing restaurant! Love this concept! Tables are free for anyone to grab and do follow the normal seating rules of a restaurant. You go to the bar to order drinks, you go to the food window to order your food, they will give you a number. Pick up your drink pick a table and the food will be brought out to you. There are seafood varieties that often change based on the catch. Each time I've gone I've done the day boat fresh catch where i picked a wahoo fish, blackened, with cucumber salad and seasonal veggies. The staff is friendly. They greet everyone who comes in. So, I went back tonight. I was so disappointed. I ordered the seafood birria. It sounded great. Shrimp, crabmeat, and maybe fish? It was horrible. Oily flour tortillas with almost no filling. It was dripping oil, salty, and so little seafood I couldn't taste it. My girlfriend ordered the ceviche. It was okay, except for the fried flour oily tortilla chips. The line didn't appear long, maybe 6-7 people deep, but it took well over 40 minutes to get to the counter to order. Some people weren't stepping away after ordering food? I have good news and bad news... Good news: The ambiance is amazing. The music was not too loud, there were fans keeping the place cool and it was overall just a chill place to sip on a drink. Bad news: I would really only come back for drinks and mayybee an appetizer. The apps were pretty good (ceviche and hushpuppies) but the entrees were... meh. I ordered the citrus rubbed Lane Snapper with the cajun remoulade, green beans and slaw. My friend ordered the Fresh Catch Sammy with the Lane Snapper and fries. The slaw was too sweet, the fries were mushy and heavily under seasoned (they just tasted like cold potatoes) and the fish just didn't taste quality (my partner and I catch and eat fresh fish regularly). The saving grace were those green beans though.. they were bomb. Overall, for $45 per person (not including drinks), this was quite overpriced for the lack of quality. For service, you order at the counter for food and at the bar for drinks. There should be a walk up section at the bar for those sitting at tables instead of us needing to squeeze between other folks trying to enjoy their dinner like I'm at a busy Friday night dive bar. I'd rate it a 6/10. Sit at the bar so you don't have to squeeze in for drinks, order an appetizer and enjoy the good energy. Just save your money and grab your entree somewhere else. read more

I met one of the managers 'Tyler' from Trophy Fish several months back while in St. Pete. One of my buddies and I decided to stop in after the Rays fan fest yesterday. All the fish is freshly caught, so the menu isn't that large, which is great, knowing that everything is new. I can definitely say that I will be back! The whole restaurant is outside, so if it's a sunny day and you're looking for fresh air, and good food, this is the place to go. If you end up stopping in, ask for Tyler, and he will give you the rundown on what to order! You can't go wrong. First time & not impressed! All looks better on social media. We ordered two shrimp po boy. Too overly seasoned and soggy and the fries were way too greasy. For drinks we got salty dawg.. too watery. To the Solos: the Oyster Happy Hour is kinda misleading. I was by myself and just wanting a little afternoon drink and a couple oysters. They come up in a Yelp search for Oyster Happy Hour and their pics show a big $1 Oyster Happy Hour sign that says it's daily. When I went on Friday they put it on a sandwich board in front on the sidewalk saying "come on in for our Oyster Happy Hour." When I went to order they said no oyster happy hour. I forget what days he said it was, but it was something like Mondays and Wednesdays. And then when I tried to order six at regular price, they said minimum order was a full dozen. Almost everyone that came in after me tried to order the same and then ended up ordering a dozen at full price because they were already seated. Old school tourist trap tactics. The vibe is tropical chic with live outdoor music and a fun bar area. Very casual service. No reservations taken. The cocktails are interesting and fun. The yacht club lemonade is my favorite, but I have also tried the pistachio mai Thai which is good, dessert like but not too sweet, and they set it on fire! The fresh fish is always so good. They always have different fresh options. The platters are great because you get the fish with a choice of rub, sauce, and 2 sides. The citrus rub and kale chimichurri sauce are really good! We also tried the rosemary potatoes, coconut rice pilaf, and mixed vegetables, all good! The key lime pie with blueberry sauce was also delightfully tart and not too sweet. Stopped by here on a whim while in St. Pete and it didn't disappoint. Only came for drinks and did not order food so can't speak on behalf of the food. The drinks were crafted well and tasted pretty good! They were aesthetically pleasing and matched the theme of the bar (ocean/beachy vibes). I really enjoyed the outdoor space with the TVs, wrap around bar, and overall vibes. They did a great job with the set up and it made me feel like I was by the beach not off of central.
