Patrons pay for their meal and gratuity upfront. Crispy fish Sando and fries taste pre-made instead of made to order. FOOD Unfortunately many things I would have gotten (Kama, grilled spot crab, ube sliders, grilled skewers) were sold out by my arrival. TIP would be to arrive early. 3/5 CRISPY FISH SANDO (mako shark): Flavor and crispiness was unremarkable for the shark filet. The sandwich overall was enjoyable with the soft brioche bun, sauce, and red cabbage. Fries unfortunately were pre-made, not made to order - they do have a unique and light seaweed sesame seasoning. $25 before tax is a steep price tag to have paid for this when it didn't taste like it was made fresh. read more

A must visit if you're in the area! It is located in the far back. The seafood is fresh from the other stalls selling the fresh catch from the morning. I ordered the uni hand roll, fish and chips, ceviche, tuna masubi, and clam chowder. The uni handroll was a crowd favorite amongst my friends. It was fresh, sweet, and creamy. The fish and chips were good but didn't have the wow factor compared to the other fresh fish. The tuna masubi was so delicious I would recommend trying this dish. The ceviche was so light and fresh which was perfect for the hot weather. The clam chowder was okay. I would ordering any dish with fresh fish because it's the freshest fish you can get and it's so worth it. The line gets really long but moves fast. Overpriced and small portions! Since it's located on a busy pier during a Saturday morning fish market, I figured prices would be inflated. However, I still expected somewhat decent food and portions. The tuna poke bowl had around four small cubes of tuna, and the tuna quality was just ok. The fish tacos also were not freshly fried and not crispy, and I could tell because the fryer at the stall was not being used. Also, the sign at the front said there was an addition fee for paying with card, but the fee was still applied even though we paid with cash! The other fresh fish stalls in the market looked promising, I may come back for them, but I definitely will not be coming back for this stall. read more

The staff are friendly and attentive as they are very approachable, willing to give you extra sauce when asked, and make sure that the order is correct and double checked if I received everything that was ordered. What an incredible little spot in tuna harbor! The only thing that I have an issue with is that it isn't open 7 days a week! I had seen this spot on instagram for a few weeks now with the intentions of heading down to the dockside market for the first time ever just to check this place out. I ordered the ceviche which was great , slightly sweet due to the mango but very fresh and citrusy. Ordered the chowder which was sooo freaking good! I was in search of these tuna hand rolls which weren't listed on the menu and chef Marcus was nice enough to make them for me anyways! Really appreciated because this was definitely one of the highlights of the meal! I then ordered the ube bun yellowtail sliders... and mannnn let me tell you.... The way that Marcus and his team make what some (me in particular) consider a delicacy into a comfort food... absolutely incredible. The order came with two and if I had room for two more I totally would have ordered again. Thank you Dockside Fish & Chips. I gave one star cuz the fish was definitely fresh but the portion size was small and how they operate their business is terrible. I ordered for a group of 5 (my family) and the order took over :40 mins to get while everyone behind us was got their food, finished it, and left. I get it that different orders take time but all but one of my food was a sushi and everything else was the same exact food everyone behind ordered. Many places you can get fresh fish served well and this is not one of it. Never coming back here and I suggest you skip this place as well. read more

Severely over hyped. After a lot of excitement from Instagram about the fresh off the boat seafood. I usually don't write negative reviews but we were extremely disappointed in the meal here. I've been thinking about it all day. We don't visit San Diego too often maybe once a year but always try to find good food finds when we visit. Lobster was pretty tasty and cooked well. The poke was pretty meh, bland(small portions, mostly rice.) Uni was fresh but the only thing that we really enjoyed was the ceviche. Refreshing with good flavor. But the two orders of fish and chips were so severely overcooked, we couldn't even finish it. It looked and tasted like cardboard. For fish right off the boat they did a terrible disservice to the fish. I'm hopeful that not all their fish and chips are this awful but they have to do better with quality control especially this is the only day they are serving the public. I visited Tuna Harbor Dockside Market after seeing it recommended several times on TikTok. The food smelled amazing, and while the menu is limited, everything looked fresh. We arrived around 11 AM and noticed a few items were already sold out. We ordered the Kama and a poke bowl and didn't mind the wait, especially seeing the Kama grilled fresh. However, after waiting over an hour, we noticed people who ordered after us receiving the same items we had ordered. We were seated right next to the order station and clearly heard every number being called, except ours. When we went up to check, they pulled our ticket from what seemed to be a pile of dead orders and said our number had already been called. Oddly enough, after giving us the Kama the expediter told the person taking orders to tell the next customer to be given food that it was the last one and they'd need to order something else, which suggests our order may have been nearly given to someone else. We were then told they'd call us again for the poke bowl. After hearing 20 more numbers called, still nothing. When I asked again, the staff member was about to give the poke bowl to someone else before saying it was actually mine. Again, we somehow heard every other number but ours? The most frustrating part was the lack of accountability or a simple apology. Mistakes happen, but the dismissive attitude and poor communication left a bad taste. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. As for the food: my boyfriend enjoyed the Kama. The poke bowl, however, was underwhelming for me, too much vinegar and sauce, which made the small bed of rice soggy and mushy. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise. We saw other people walking by with grilled lobster and we knew we wanted it and it definitely did not disappoint! The grilled lobster was soooo fresh! Half is 25 dollars with a side of fries. The fries were not my cup of tea because I felt like it was a bit greasy but my husband loves them. The lobster came with a good chunk of fresh, sweet lobster meat and with a splash of lemon, perfection! We also tried the poke bowl, although tasty, was a bit expensive for 10 pieces of fish. I gotta say though, the flavors all meld together really well and the marinated watermelon pieces was to die for. Filipino dude who was wearing a "Katatagan" Shirt with a PH Flag on the grill is funny esp if you know the Pinoy puns, definitely looked sooo familiar he got that Fun Uncle Vibe. After waiting in a long line, ordering uni and waiting almost an HOUR after I pay for my food, They call us up to the window saying they over sold the uni and needed to refund me. It's very unprofessional to make people wait so long and PAY, then not serve them.
