Update to review from 5 years ago. Came in and joined the queue and Anthony took our order, he was pleasant and polite and thanked us for our order as he gave us our pickup number. Today's visit was no different as they were super busy, full tilt at 2 pm no less!! We decided to eat inside the dining area and had a nice view of the harbor. Within 5 minutes our orders were up and we dove right in! Hubs had the fish plate and I had the halibut plate. Both came with sides of coleslaw and skinny fries. The halibut was very good and hubs said his fish was delicious. The fries were good and plentiful. The coleslaw was very good, not too much mayonnaise and not sweet or sour either. It had celery in it which I liked. Plain but good! Perfect!! We will be back!

We LOVED Point Loma Seafoods. The place is family run and has been serving seafood since 1955. You can buy fresh seafood to take home to prepare or purchase plates and sandwiches. The large selection seafood is super fresh. A crowd of people were waiting for their food when we arrived. You order and pay at the counter and wait for your order. Indoor seating that overlooks the harbor is available. Most people opt to sit at table outside at tables that also have great views of the boat docks. The menu offers daily and happy hour specials. A large chalk board lists sandwiches, sushi, grilled and fried plate options and a few soups/appetizers. Bottles of wine and beer are available for purchase. I thought the meal prices were very reasonable. We ordered a Combo Plate, Fried Oyster plate and tuna sushi to share. This was a LOT of food but we wanted to share and try different fish. The fried oysters are juicy, flavorful and best fried oysters that I've ever had. The tuna sushi was delicious with the largest chucks of fresh tuna I've ever seen in a sushi roll. The fried cod in the Combo Plate was unexpectedly delicious with a light breading. I don't think I've ever had cod that was this fresh. The fried shrimp was good. The crab cake was a bit disappointing with little flavor and mushy. The generous portion of hand cut fries are fresh and delicious. The coleslaw was fresh and colorful, but didn't have much of a slaw flavor. The slaw was more of a salad, than a slaw. Overall, the food tastes excellent, is fresh and portions are generous. The clerks are friendly, engaging and the food comes out in about 15 minutes. They have a small amount of parking. We walked over from our hotel.

Great food. The Services counter service here. Which is fast Ambience is yacht style overlooking the boats. It's very relaxing here and very busy on a Sunday

I see the negative comments and they aren't necessarily wrong. It is expensive, it could be better, the parking lot is bad. But for us out of towners, on the way to the airport stopping off for as one of our friends put it... "one last plate of fish", we enjoyed our pitstop here and seafood lunch with a harbor view. Something we weren't going to get again any time soon in the desert. Fish and chips weren't my favorite since I had 10/10 ones at Pelly's in Carlsbad. Chowder wasn't particularly memorable. Clam strips were enjoyable. The sourdough and dungenous was nostalgic. Again, nothing was amazing but just enjoying our final seafood lunch with the view made everything taste better. While it's not a must visit spot, it's still worth checking out if you're not a local for "one last plate of fish".

Wednesday lunch and it was moderately busy with plenty of indoor seating. I was thinking sushi but there was a special on Soft Shell Crab Roll There was a lot Cole Slaw topping the roll but there was ample crab too. My order took a long time and my two friends were about done when my number was called? They also forgot my fries. They verified my order and apologized and I waited a bit longer for my fries. Lunch was good but I only ate half my sandwich so my friends didn't have to wait for me to finish. I like to come back to try their Candied Salmon.

Point Loma Seafoods has got it down. There's a daily special board that we ordered from.. one order was for the soft shell crab sandwich and green beans with mushrooms and parmesan cheese. the other order was for the halibut plate. all the food was excellent and the portions large. we had to walk it off for a couple hours the fresh fish looks amazing and we were allowed to bring our dog inside. all the tables were occupied if that says anything. the counter servers are friendly. enjoying well prepared seafood at the landing area is a welcome lunch vibe. bring an extra layer if you're easily chilled. the breeze was nonstop.

It's not an everyday place to go only because I live in north county. If I lived closer I promise I'd be here every week. Love every thing about this place. Came here for Father's Day. I ordered the Alaskan Halibut plate and it did not disappoint. It was very fresh and flaky. We also had the fried shrimp, lobster roll, and side of fries. It takes a bit to get into the parking lot and then you have to wait in line to order but the line moves fast. They have good outdoor tables and a 2nd floor with a view of the boats and of the downtown skyline. Can't wait to go back.

Delicious sea to table fresh fish served at this hidden gem. My go to meal is the fried fish sandwich. A big cut of fresh cod fried in between two soft sourdough slices of bread. Delicious! Parking is free, get here before the dinn or lunch rush.

I have been coming here for years, albeit I don't frequent often, and read reviews on the quality of the food going downhill, prices being extremely high, and portions being downsized. I had to go do a wellness check, as I just love me a Scallop Sandwich. Pulling into the parking area, everything still seemed in place, hard to find parking, regardless of how busy or not busy Point Loma Seafoods is. After parking, we walked into a relatively short line, and my brain immediately went to "Oh No, maybe it is true". We were called to order rather quickly, and I ordered my Scallop sandwich, my wife ordered the fish sandwich based on the employee recommendation, we also ordered onion rings based on his recommendation, and a bowl of clam chowder, just because, well we both really miss the clam chowder from Fish House Vera Cruz (RIP). While waiting for our order, we browsed the large glass case fronts full of freshly caught seafoods, live tanks of lobsters and crabs, and a full selection of in house smoked fish. While there was seating outside, we decided to grab a seat inside, next to a window. The general ambiance of this place is quiet, quick, seafood warehouse, sitting right by the water, it's just an overall beautiful place to eat at. There is no air of elitist here, people are not dressed up with reservations, with fancy waiters and table service, no, this is like a giant workplace cafeteria feeling, just overall a very relaxed atmosphere. We didn't have to wait long for our food, maybe 15 minutes. Let me give you a food-by-food rundown for what we ordered. New England Clam Chowder | 8oz Cup $6.03 -I would pass on this next time, while the texture was great, the taste was disappointing to me, quite fishy tasting. Scallop Sandwich | Lightly Breaded Eastern Dry Pack Scallops, Market Price, I think MP was around $17.99 -Amazing, just as good as the last one, the lightly breaded scallops were melt in your mouth delicious, left me longing for my next venture here. Fish Sandwich | Lightly Breaded Alaskan Cod $14.99 -Great sandwich, flaky, tender, again the breading was on point, zero fishy taste, I will stick with my Scallop sandwich but would not be mad eating another of these! Onion Rings | $6.03 - Ok so go to a seafood place, loaded with all sorts of fresh fish and order onion rings? I cannot be happier for this recommendation by the gentleman/fish monger taking our order, these onion rings are SO good. I would go here for the onion rings alone! *All sandwiches are served on fresh sourdough bread, with Mrs. Kelly's tartar sauce. The bread has such a nice bite to it and accompanies both the scallops and fish so well. Mrs. Kelly's tartar sauce, spread on the bread gave that nice crisp, balance and is the perfect, and only condiment needed. Glad that we came in, as this place is just, so good still, and that makes me, and my mouth, happy!

Always a fan favorite!!! I love the shrimp sandwiches. So good. I'm not a big fan of tartar sauce but I have to tell you, they have the best. I also love that they have a fresh fish counter, sushi counter, and grocery items along with a huge selection of wines If you haven't tried this place, you are missing out. It's always busy, parking is a challenge but they always have a parking lot person to help with that. Tons of indoor & outdoor seating. And with the best weather, outdoor seating is the way to go. They have restrooms in the back and drink stations for self serve. Don't let the busy restaurant stop you from coming here. It's the Very very Best. Lots of options available.

I hadn't been here for a while to be honest with you, I was craving fish and chips and I never had it here before so I tried it, it's $19.95 and you get four pieces of fish, the fish was actually good I'm not gonna say it was bad at all, but the fries were really bad like probably the worst fries I've ever had and the coleslaw didn't taste good either,. I instantly regretted paying that much for it, I didn't complain to them or anything, in my head I just justified it like alright four pieces of fish five bucks each whatever, but if you're paying $20 for that meal you're gonna be disappointed trust me, if you do try it let me know or tag me or write a review so I know if maybe it was just a one off, service was great though.

Alaskan Cod Sandwich, lightly breaded on sourdough with tartar sauce ($14.62)
    Jessica S.

It's like cafeteria food and with tourist trap prices, but a San Diego relic that has been around for decades has some element of nostalgia to necessitate an out-of-the-blue visit. When you walk up, the line is not very apparent so making eye contact with one of the upbeat workers behind the counter is the way. The food is definitely pricy for what it is. The sandwiches with the sourdough bread are popular items, the cod sandwich with tartar sauce a particular favorite. The cod comes breaded which is not apparent from the menu. A little cold and the bread could have been toasted up at least because it was flimsy and sad. The shrimp cocktail's heaping of cocktail sauce was a bit comical and the clam chowder rather bland and missing any real clams. Lots of tourists and seniors dine-in here for convenience and/ or nostalgia, more like it. Probably not my first choice when looking for seafood, but the market element sure is a comfort of sorts.

    Armando D.

Food was good and very fresh! Unfortunately the cashier took my order wrong and got fries instead of Cole slaw and shrimp instead of fish. He also forgot my clam chowder! Pigeons outside are a menace...trying to eat your food and doing pigeon poo every where! Clean your table and seats!

    Do they have free parking?

Yes.. They have a parking lot

    Is this place dog friendly?

Yup. Seen many at outside tables while there

Do u have the abalone sandwich w/chips?

Never have seen an abalone sandwich ever on their menu.

I am a fan of the crab sandwich, but now I can't eat gluten. ☹️ Are there GF crab options besides the salad and cocktail? Which has more crab meat: the salad or the cocktail?

Buy it from the case and the world is your oyster...bring things from home. $59.95/LB right now

Can an order be called in so its ready for pick up? Or can you only order at counter once there?

You can call in an order!

Can you buy the sourdough bread by the loaf?

Yes. Sometimes offer the day old version sliced...lucky you. Or the round loaf is almost always available. Half baked too. Dinner rolls are sourdough as well

How are the crowds on a Friday night at about 5:00? I know lunches are busy but we've never tried an early dinner.

You are looking at 1-2 hour wait times. It's best to order in advance and skip the wait times.

    Is the place dog friendly?

There's outdoor seating, so your pup can be next to you when you dine.

How long is a typical wait friday lunchtime?

    5 Minutes

    Do they have smoked marlin?

    Don't know. Call them

Can one order their crab sandwich without mayo here? Do they put mayo into the crab filling itself?

Yes! The sandwich is pieces of lump crab meat and they put their tartar sauce onto the sourdough so just ask them not to put the sauce
