The Fish Company was one stop on our Florida vacation that we unfortunately didn't find soon enough! If you're visiting the area and love seafood, put this place on your list immediately! We were on the hunt for stone crab claws, a true Florida staple (we first tried it in Chicago and was told it was shipped from Florida!) The Fish Company delivered! Everything looked fresh from the moment we walked in, and you can tell seafood is what they do best. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up coming back again on our last day before heading home. The stone crab claws were absolutely delicious, along with the oysters and shrimp. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were hoping for. My biggest recommendation is to call ahead if you're looking for stone crab claws, because they do sell out! One thing I really appreciated was being able to see all the fresh seafood on display. You can sit right at the bar area and watch them prep at the display case! For my military friends, it's also conveniently located right down the road from base, making it an easy stop when you're craving fresh seafood. Came by The Fish Co for a Friday lunch, & even though they were buzzing, the service and food were worth the wait! I ordered the grilled salmon, & it was easily some of the freshest fish I've had lately. It was cooked to perfection, not dry at all, & the seasoning was spot on. The real star, though, was the key lime butter! It provided such a perfect, bright balance to the savory fish. For sides, I went with the spinach salad and a baked potato. The miso dressing on the salad is seriously addicting - super creamy & flavorful. The potato came fully loaded with all the accoutrements on the side (pro-tip: the bacon bits are actually crispy!). The restaurant is impressively clean & spacious, with a great energy. Understandingly busy for a Friday, but I will absolutely be returning soon. Took myself out for a little solo lunch at Fish Company. I haven't been in a long time and wanted to share that it is just as good as I remember. I treated myself to half a pound of their spicy peel and eat shrimp, small order of mussels and three pounds of crawfish to go. I know the LA crawfish purists will go berserk at the fact it's $15 a lb, but to me it's definitely worth the price. The seasonings used are fantastic and infinitely better than the frozen stuff you'll find at the boil places in town. We stopped here for an early dinner on a whim last Sunday after losing track of time due to the changing of the clocks. My husband chose the gumbo, a generous portion of shrimp and andouille sausage over rice with a mini baguette on the side. I tried the crabcake platter. Haven't been here in a while and my husband wanted their shrimp and grits. Casual coastal vibe, one smaller fish tank. Sat as a part of 5 on a Saturday around 6 with no wait. Server was great, even brought carafes of soda for the kids. Started with a special fall drink, cranberry rye old fashioned (very good) and husband had a blue moon. We also enjoyed some fried calamari, a bit salty but otherwise good. Served like small sticks instead of rings. Daughter and I shared some New England Clam Chowder which had great flavor and was decadent and creamy. Main meals: Shrimp and grits- heavy but good flavor with sausage and shrimp, a spicy oil (not really spicy) and mushrooms. Fish and grits- not the lunch recipe, but mimicked the above sub fried cod. Also very good and a lot of fish but the cod on top became soggy quickly- probably better in the side. Appetizer crab cakes and a side of fries. Fried, my son liked. Shrimp Alfredo, good flavor, basic but good alfredo sauce. For me, scallop appetizer on green beans with a ginger sauce. Good, scallops were more room temp. Friends invited us out to try this restaurant on Valentine's Day which normally I wouldn't recommend cause they would be crazy busy, but we got a late night reservation and came in. Our server was excellent! Really welcoming and sweet, which I loved. Now to the food, it was delicious! Everything we tried I liked! Fish Co is the go to for fresh seafare from local catch, oysters, scallops, crab and when in season best place in Jax to get Stone Crabs!! The sides all can hold their own from the Spinach w/miso dressing, cheese grits, slaw, Caesar salad, & hush-puppies will hush your puppy lol. The pasta dishes are divine with your choice of seafood added too. Beverages are excellent and a nice pour-check out the happy hour menu too. Service at the tables or bar tops are always friendly and full of knowledge and a fantastic representation of what the owners envisioned. The Key Lime ‍ pie is hands down the Best in Jax ... you'd have to travel to So Fla or the Keys to find anything comparable ... it's a must get even if you just take it home after filling up on the lunch or dinner. In town for a cycling event and this spot was recommended. The shrimp and grits were very flavorful. The steamed crab legs could have used some additional seasonings but steamed well. REFUSED SERVICE TO A DISABLED VETERAN WITH SERVIE ANIMAL. After spending several hours at the ER, my wife and I, along with our 3 lb service dog decided to stop at The Fish Co before going home. We could have eaten at 1000 other places but choose here. We have been here many times with no problems but today for a late lunch the owner, Bill, was present. Bill refused us service. Because my service dog is only 3 lbs he lays beside me on the the seat at a booth. He has done this at The Fish Co many times and does so everywhere. Bill came out and refused us service. When I told him our situation. He said we could not come in. When I told him let's talk, he said I was arguing. I said no, I just want to educate you on the law and my situation . He said "you're just trying to get over on us". He waved us off belligerently. I told him I was a disabled veteran and this was my service animal. Bill still refused. We brought our family to celebrate my parents 67th anniversary. The manager came over and apologized for the wait we had for our table. We told everyone it was their 67th anniversary from reservation to server to manager. There was not even the slightest acknowledgment. One of my favorite places to get oysters in Jax. A dozen is about $15 (I think) and everything else on the menu is very well priced. The shrimp and grits is one of the best shrimp and grits I've had. The grits are super creamy and well seasoned. They have great fries (super crispy) and shrimp. The service was also amazing. Our server Elena was so sweet and attentive. I wasn't sure which soup I wanted so she offered (without me asking) to bring out a small sample for me to try. I ended with the creamy crab soup but the other one was more broth based but was also really good too. Couldn't recommend this place more. The fish company is one of the best seafood options in Jax. I brought family here and everyone was quite pleased with their food the key lime pie is a must! Their oysters are great. I tried the sesame tuna and I wish it came out a little warmer. I also would not get the fried spinach that it came with again. I didn't know what to expect but while it was flavorful it seemed to take away the point of having a veggie with your meal since it was very oily. Fried chicken at a seafood company? YES! We've had multiple friends ask "have you tried their fried chicken?" And I thought they were joking. They are not. While Fish Company's seafood is great, with huge portions and decently seasoned. Their standout is their fried chicken. Their chicken is well seasoned with a dry rub, marinated and perfectly fried. It's not well known but it should be. The restaurant is bigger than it looks, has a large bar and plenty of larger tables for big groups. Attentive staff and a decent size menu to choose whatever you like. First time guest and we were treated royally by Marian and the rest of the friendly staff. We were looking for raw oysters and rock crab claws, in addition to oysters Rockefeller and crab cake sandwich. The drinks came fast, enjoying their unique cranberry rye old fashioned with large ice cube embedded with fresh cranberries which thawed later in the meal to enjoy again. Pumpkin spice cheesecake drizzled with caramel was scrumptious at the end with really rich house coffee. We can't wait to return again and make sure we didn't dream this exceptional seafood voyage.
