However and this seems to happen a lot here, very Slow to get service and even much slower for food to be served after order is placed. We arrived just as the restaurant opened - only ones inside. The restaurant was very clean with nice views of the water. We sat at the bar and had great service. Another server even joined in our friendly banter and discussions of the badger game and food/menu. We ordered the cheese curd burger, loaded nachos, and bloody mary bar. Location on the river deserves 5 stars. Outside seating area and food a 4. Service 1. Stopped by Friday afternoon for a drink. Service was pretty good. But stopped in the next afternoon and despite there being three bartenders manning a half empty bar we had to flag someone down to order, and even then all the bartender did was look at us waiting for us to order, no "what can I get you"! He brings our two beers and since we knew we were only having one round said we were going to cash up (who knows how long it would have been if we had waited). I gave him a $20, he brought change for a $10. When I told him I had given him a $20 he went back to the register, returned and literally THREW the $10 bill at us without a word!! If paying with cash pay attention and COUNT your change. It was obvious he did this on purpose hoping we would not notice. read more

Worst service ever consistently! Last summer I didn't say anything thinking it was a fluke however this weekend my husband and I have gone twice and sat at the outside bar just to be ignored by the bartenders. Whether it is poor hiring, training, or management.... the bartenders and waitstaff think they are there to socialize among themselves. Friday we arrived during happy hour....waited 5 mins no one even said "hi" let alone acknowledge that they would be right with us. My husband left to go to the restroom while I continued to wait to order.... it wasn't until he walked back out the side door that 1 of the 4 bartenders finally asked what we would like! That afternoon also 1 bartender was so out of it we asked for two more beers.... my husband's was empty mine not quite.... he brought me a beer and ignored my husband. The same bar tender asked the people next to us 3-4 times to repeat their order and it still came out with an extra order of fish! Today, Father's Day, we thought we would give it 1 more try... as we walked up to the outside bar we noticed that it was very dead.... there were 5 waitresses standing at the end of the bar talking and 2 bar tenders. And 1 said "hi, sit anywhere you like". We sat down at the bar directly in front of a female bar tender making bloody Mary's.... NOT ONCE did she acknowledge us, and the guy behind the bar looked at us then turned away. We decided to move to a high top thinking the service might be better... however they continued to talk and not come over. We left. You would think with business that slow they would be on top of their game. I prefer not to go back. read more

All around pretty great experience here! Our drinks came quick considering it was a full patio at 6pm on a Friday, and they were pretty tasty too. Our food was half and half for us, the jerk chicken sandwich wasn't very impressive (not enough spice) but the chicken nachos were the best nachos I've ever had. Perfect spice on the chicken, perfect amount of cheese, just amazing honestly. And not that the music talent for the night has anything to do with the restaurant, but we were impressed with the singer for that night as well. Great evening! read more

Extremely upset with the management service and owner at this bar, while we were reoccurring customers and it is safe to say we will NOT be coming back. A word to the wise, if you are having a private event... Tell your customers. As an owner it is your responsibility to make sure you have an educated and informed staff for the evening. As a manager it is your responsibility to make sure every customer is happy with there experience, and as a server it is your responsibility to make sure to tell your table that there is a private event going on and they may need to move there boat. We came to Oshkosh from Chicago for the air show and chose Docside Tavern for the reviews and atmosphere. When we called to make reservations they told my Husband they had a fish fry and considering it was Friday we were very excited. When we got there we found out that everyday is a fish fry. Our service was impeccable! We ordered Bambam shrimp for appetizer and it was delicious. The dinner part we were unhappy about. We had the Bambam burger and perch dinners. The flavor of the bam bam buurger was delicious but I was disappointed with the size of the meat in the burger, it was thin like a patty you buy at the store. Perch dinner was ordered by 5 people, the sweet potato fries are phenomenal, but the perch was super greasy and the batter wasnt crispy. Most of our group didn't finish their plate because they were unahppy. read more

First, the positives. The Dockside Tavern is located on the Fox River in Oshkosh and provides a great view of the river and the passing boats. They also carry some great brews - I really enjoyed their Scottish Ale, and if you somehow wind up there, I can't recommend that one enough. Based on our experience, that's about where the positives end. Driving in from outside of Oshkosh for a Saturday night dinner, my wife and I stumbled upon the Dockside Tavern and thought we'd check it out. Pulling into the parking lot, we asked a couple who was leaving for their opinion. Based on their feedback, we decided to give it a try. It was about 8:30 and we were hungry. Walking from our car through the side entry to the riverside patio area, we noticed that there was live music. Definitely a plus for us. We grabbed a table and waited for our waitstaff to bring a menu. And waited. And waited. After nearly 10 minutes of waiting, I asked my wife how much longer we should wait before leaving. We decided that at 15 minutes we'd head out. With about 90 seconds left, a lady came up to our table with menus and pointed to the girl following her and told us that she would be serving us. The first thing the waitress asked us was "Have you been waiting long?". Of course I told her it was just about 15 minutes and we would be leaving shortly. She apologized and took our drink order. When she returned with our drinks we gave her our dinner orders. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad and for $9 I was sure it would be a standard dinner sized salad. Meanwhile, while waiting for our dinner, the live music ended - at 9:00 p.m. I thought that was kind of odd for a Saturday night, and when I asked the waitress she confirmed that the music ended at 9:00. On a Saturday. On the 4th of July weekend. When the salad arrived, I did a double take, smirked and quietly asked my wife if I ordered the dinner salad or the side salad. It was SMALL. I mean, I've honestly had bigger side salads, and frequently. I began to eat and make the best of an already bad experience, but what happened next I CANNOT MAKE UP. Shortly thereafter, the busboy stopped by our table and asked "Are you finished?" I looked at my salad, looked at my drink, and then glanced back at him and said "Pardon me?" He repeated, "Are you finished?" "Finished with WHAT?", I followed. "Your salad", he said. I looked at him and said, "Dude, I've only had three bites!" There was a short, awkward pause. I then piped in and said, "I can tell by your comment that your opinion of my salad is the same as my opinion - that it's tiny." He smiled, said nothing and walked away. Needless to say, I can't recommend the Dockside Tavern. I don't think that the waitstaff was well organized and the portion sizes seemed inconsistent and varied. There are a lot of other great restaurants in Oshkosh vying for our dollars, and I'm likely to patronize them next time. read more

Had stopped here many times with my boat. Enough to know the menu. Food and service were always ok or good. Last time I stopped we had no service. We only got drinks because we went to the bar and got our own. After 20 minutes I finally got the manger and asked what I needed to do to get some service. He offered no apology, but did get us a waitress. Even after this we had to get our own water, ketchup and napkins. Sad. Obliviously they do not care about their customers. I will no longer be stopping here. There are other places to go on the river were they act like they want my business. read more

Love the Bam Bam Shrimp, especially the tacos, but wont be going back, and here's why. After dining there, I noticed an extra $4 charge to my Visa. I called & was told they'd check while I was on the phone. I'm pretty sure the man I spoke with was the one who did this, b/c suddenly he had to call me back in a little bit. I have a feeling he found the transaction & realized he did it. 6 days later I called back, again spoke to this same individual, who admitted it was him I spoke to. Neither call did he apologize for the extra charge, nor did he apologize for not calling me back in 6 days. After explaining my Visa had been cancelled in the meantime due to a fraudulent charge (besides their's), he said," So what do you want me to do?" I was then told to call back when my new card arrived. So I'm supposed to call and give my new credit card info to this person I clearly don't trust? I've tried emailing them twice, and after spending the time on my emails, both times the email doesn't go through b/c of an issue with their site So, make sure you tip more than 17% if you go, or someone there may not like your tip and do this to you. read more
