By default we entered this casual eatery due to all other places having an hour wait. Dog Haus, downtown was packed, standing room only. Yells of excitement were echoing through the dining area as we were all hot doggin' and watchin' Phoenix's home basketball team in the playoffs on the 10+ video screens. Service was a bit slow but the super friendly staff tonight went above AND beyond to make sure people were getting their food and beverage orders. The "Soooo Cali" I ordered hit the spot with their lightly toasted sweet bun, crispy onions and avocado. The "Loveboat" side consisted of fries, their chili and coleslaw. I love this place! I had been to another Dog Haus in California and liked it so I was happy to find this location in DT Phoenix. First off, they have an impressive selection of craft beer on tap. My friend loves Guinness Stout so he was happy. I tried the Church Music and Firestone Walker Double Hazy IPAs. All good. Now to the main deal... I ordered the T-Mex Haus Sausage. It was awesome. My friend ordered the Dog Haus Cheeseburger and gave it two thumbs up. He's a picky eater so that's high praise. I was so excited to hear about this place that we made it a point to go for dinner. It pains me to give it an A-ok but I will explain soon enough. I order the Beyond Brat (plant based) that came w/ sauerkraut and mustard (YUM). The Reservoir Dog came highly recommended by our lovely order taker so my boyfriend got that with a side of tater tots (another YUM). We also ordered wine and a beer while we waited. Service was prompt and very pleasant. We got our food: my beyond Brat was barely warm and there was barely any sauerkraut on the top. Even as Beyond Meat, I guess I was expecting this loaded dog, not a few strands of sauerkraut. I also know that the Beyond Meat is harder to cook but lukewarm to cold? On the other side, my boyfriend loved his Reservoir Dog and tots and highly recommends it. This place is awesome. I will be back. My boyfriend loves hotdogs he also had a sausage another time. The bun on the burgers as well as the hotdogs are Hawaiian buns and he loves how they hold together. They have vegetarian options beyond meat burger as well as a dog but I am a vegetarian and I wish they offered a non meat tasting option like black bean burgers or something of that sort. They have fries as well as tatertots they are both a wonderful option. They have some awesome drink choices alcoholic as well as soft drinks and tea. This is a chain restaurant that I only discovered after moving to Phoenix. Although the name suggests that this place is a hot dog establishment, it has many more options! I've had a couple hot dogs, a build-your-own burger, and the nashville style hot chicken sandwich. I can't say a bad thing about any of these! The buns are all King Hawaiian rolls so it's really soft and dense. I didn't think you could have a hot dog bun this way but they use 3 buns to create this. The toppings are unique and the benefit of being able to build your own makes this place even better. The list of toppings is also very extensive so I'm sure most people can find what they want here. They also have vegetarian options - there is an impossible burger patty and a Beyond hot dog. I have not eaten indoors here yet, but I have walked in to pick up my order. I slightly regretted getting a burger because their burgers are the size of four sliders... absolutely insanely huge. Soooo good though. Had the sweet potato fries with it... also delish, but more than I could eat. I stuck them in the middle of our table and the group made them vanish in about a minute. Paired it with the equivalent of a mule... they called it an Irish something-or-other. It was made well... much better than I expected from a "hot dog joint." Others in the group had sliders, wings, and what I think was a little corn dog. The others in my group had beers. There's a huge drink menu. Between the four of us with meals/ snacks and drinks, I think the total came out to around $80. Not bad. Service was quick and the people were nice. Saw this pop up a couple weeks ago and decided to give it a try today. Overall I really enjoyed it. Really nice location in Downtown Phoenix. I had the hangover burger and I ordered a old town with the chorizo pepper jack sausage instead of the regular hotdog, a side of fries and one white chocolate chip macadamia cookie. The negatives. One the cookie was definitely overcooked and extremely old. Not old to the point it didn't taste good but old to the point it shouldn't have been out for sale anymore. Second I had added chipotle aioli to the burger and it was definitely not on there. Third the sausage didn't seem that fresh seemed a bit dry like it had a little extra age on it haha was delicious all the same though. The burger was delicious though I didn't see a option to get the egg runny so my egg was definitely fully cooked. The old town toppings were awesome and was the bun. Fries were old by the time I got them. I don't blame that on the restaurant though. The oil used to fry the fries was a bit dirty tasting maybe time to change the oil guys. The Hawaiian buns style situation makes this place semi unique and its a great part of the food. The restaurant was very nice inside and clean. Good size versus price point. I stopped in yesterday because the smell outside pulled me in. Ultimately the food was good but small and a bit pricey. I had the fonz Italian sausage with mozzarella and pastrami. It came on a split top bun and was good. Plenty of cheese on top. The pastrami wasn't very noticeable. They carry sweet potato fries so I had to get them. They were pretty good but the portion was incredibly small. To drink I got the sitting pretty sour as well as a fountain soda. The beer was decent but I'm not sure it was a proper pint. The fountain drink was basically kids cup sized. The food here is solid but portions would make me skip it. The place is also on the small side. Not a lot of room to sit and relax. The stools are the industrial type that are pretty uncomfortable. The table had a weird metal bar that hovers about 8 inches over the center and made the space awkward. Food was ok. Corn dog was over fried batter could have been better but the dog was great. Chili Cheese Fries were ok, cheese a little plastic-y once it gets colder. Chicken strips were amazing according to my daughter batter was great not greasy. Sweet potato fries were excellent. I might try this place again not this location during COVID too small pace was limited and tight. Oh how I was craving a burger .... There are just those days when nothing else will do. Thankfully there was a Dog Haus next to my hotel! To start off with, the place was packed! Thanks to their delicious food they appear to be staying busy. You stand in line to order and receive a number to take to your table. The woman taking orders was also the bartender, let me tell you - she was busy! However, she still made time to offer some great suggestions and recommendations that were very appreciated and turned out to be excellent! She was personable but efficient! I ended up going for the Little Mule, delicious! If you like a little spice and lots of savory - this is the burger for you! I also added a side of fries, onion rings and a drink to my order. Fries were a little salty but good, onion rings were fantastic! Overall it was an excellent meal. The reason I deducted one star was simply because the woman delivering the food just dropped it off and flew off. I attempted to ask her for some ketchup and she didn't seem to hear me, so I walked in her direction again asking for some ketchup and some ranch for the onion rings since I received my order to-go... this time she intentionally avoided me and walked into the back. Before I knew it, I realized I was basically chasing her down. When she re-emerged from the back I tried to ask again, she initially ignored me but when she had to walk in my direction to pick up something she finally acknowledged my request but treated it like a huge inconvenience. After I returned to my hotel with my food I realized that I should have asked for some napkins as well since there are none in my bag. I apologize to the hotel for the grease soaked hand towel!
