Food, service and expectation was great. It was slow the time we arrived but overall their quick. We started off with Spicy edamame. We recommend the Japanese beer asahi, very smooth. Food has no "fishy" taste and smell. Very enjoyable.

I'm visit LA and my friends decided to take me out. This place was the only one in the area that was open until 10pm. We sat down, ordered quickly because last call was 9:30pm. The brought the food out within mins and we got to enjoy every bit. The fish was fresh and very delicious. Everything on the table was pretty much gone by the end of the evening. The employees didn't rush us to finish up to leave. They were really kind enough to let us enjoy our evening. Would love to go back to this place!

Service is super nice, very pleasant and attentive staff. Its great lunch spot, but the quality of sushi used to be better 2 years ago. Still a good place to check out if craving sushi in the valley

Tuna crispy rice was really good! Great background music too. Really good service! Was not very busy on a Saturday at lunch time.

Realized that I never did a review but have been here several times. This is my go to neighborhood sushi place. Great place to come for a Sunday lunch with the family. They have yelp wait list which is always good with a big party like ours. So many choices of you want sushi, hot food, appetizers and the staff is so friendly. For appetizers- get the yellowtail collar, crispy skin and moist fish. So good and enough for a few people to pick at or eat by yourself. Sushi- you can go wrong with anything you order. Fish is fresh and they don't over do it with rice which is perfect. The pieces on the sashimi special were super generous. Shrimp scampi roll, lobster roll and white Hawaiian are so good!

This is my neighborhood joint and it is the best place to unwind after a day at work. The only downside is there is always a child making too much noise which does not bring me joy, but the food is delicious always. The staff is so nice. The food always hits the spot.

It's true that you can get fresh, good sushi at places like Katsuya and the like, but their offerings have lost their edge and lost their excitement, while I've lost my will to pony up big bucks for meals from chefs who'd rather be watching Obsession at the multiplex. And so, Miho is the antithesis of all that pescatarian homogenization. This cozy nook manages to have everything you want: toro (fresh, fatty and fabulous), Saba (smoked and savory chewiness), Uni with Quail Egg (rich and decadent), and Ankimo (monkfish liver, mild and very satisfying). Sake is cold and reasonably priced, while the service is friendly and completely tuned in to each customer. To finish my meal, I asked the chef to make me a hand roll version of one of their most abundant dishes: the New Guy Roll. Bursting at the seams with Spicy shrimp & crab, shrimp tempura, avocado, creamy sauce and eel sauce, it wasn't easy for them to reconfigure and re-portion everything into a handheld model -- but do it they did, and the result was both tasty and manageable. Make no mistake, Miho is a gem that's hidden in plain sight, in a storefront between Round Table Pizza and The Sugar Mill Saloon, and they're serving some of the best sushi you'll get in Tarzana. Go. Miho is the only spot that matters if you are looking for a place to go that's not stupid expensive or mediocre quality just to get your fix. Miho IS EXACTLY the opposite of that. Miho is well priced, pinnacle quality and exceptional service!!!! It's a small hole in the wall off of Ventura Blvd in Tarzana and although we were hesitant at first, we decided to give it a shot. How could a sushi join in a largely jewish strip mall be any good...well, because they're some of the nicely, most talented Chefs, that how! The presentation of the rolls, the nigiri and the sashimi is gorgeous and if you sit at the bar the speed the sushi comes out makes you feel like you're the only person in the restaurant (who wouldn't like that?). We had to wait about 15min to get in, there's typically a wait but it's a wait well worth it and honestly it's more exciting this way. Plenty of Parking...unlike Nobu or Sugarfish or Katsuya type places so why waste the time....Good idea GO TO MIHO instead. Support your local shops, Miho is the spot! Go! Thank me later!

Inside, the atmosphere is beautiful, great lighting, and plenty of seating. The food is ALWAYS fresh, seriously, they don't seem to have an off day. Customer service is also very good, and the entire team seems to work together and stay in sync. I would have easily given Kushiyu 5 stars, but unfortunately there's one thing I just can't get behind: having a payment tablet pushed in front of me for the tip before I'm even finished enjoying my meal. I specifically asked for a paper check and was told no, then the tablet was brought over anyway. My meal wasn't finished, and I personally like to take my time, finish my food, and pay when I'm actually ready to leave. I explained that I didn't think this was right, and I felt bad for the server because he told me it's simply what the owner wants. So I'm not blaming the staff at all! they were doing what they were told. I'm a serious foodie and have 300+ elite reviews under my belt, so I've experienced enough restaurants to know what makes a dining experience great and what takes away from it. The food and service here are absolutely worthy of 5 stars. The forced tablet tipping experience, unfortunately, is not. That policy is the only reason I'm leaving 4 stars, and honestly, it's also the reason I won't be coming back. Hopefully management rethinks this, because the restaurant itself has a lot going for it.

Given the price and quality, it would be hard for me to come back for lunch when there are so many options along Ventura Boulevard, or even if I'm willing to drive a little farther to Sawtelle, Little Tokyo, or Gardena for Japanese skewers. One other downside: the restrooms don't have baby changing tables, making it less convenient for families with infants. At first glance, it's pretty small in there, but I never felt uncomfortable. They were playing some cool lo-fi beats that weren't too loud -- no one was screaming at each other over the music. The guy taking my order was super cool and attentive; he kept checking in and was on top of the beer situation. I'd read other reviews saying the service was terrible, but in my honest opinion, he was great. I also read that people weren't happy with the owner. I could see how he might rub people the wrong way, but he mostly just kept to himself -- we only spoke when he picked up my plates. Some things I ordered really stood out, while others were just mid -- not bad, but they didn't have that wow factor. Standouts: the salmon belly (highly recommend), the beef wagyu, the gyoza (I know, it's gyoza, hard to mess up, but I've had bad gyoza before), the amberjack (best I've had), and the yellowtail carpaccio, which was bomb. The only thing that I didn't really like was the soy sauce ramekin, it was difficult to dip my sushi in it. It's too small and square. All in all, I'd recommend this place to a friend if they're in the area, and I'll be coming back.
