I have had a horrible experience dealing with the Mazda parts department. Yes, the people have been very nice and friendly, and their shuttle service is very convenient, but the service i have received has been TERRIBLE!! I broke my side mirror and went there 5 weeks ago to get the part ordered. they were very helpful, ordered the part they said I needed. One week later the part was in so I went to get my mirror fixed. Well, after having my car for 3 hours I received a call that the parts department did not order all of the parts i needed to fix my mirror. That was fine with me, I understand people can make mistakes, so they ordered another new part they said I needed to fix my mirror. Yet another week later the 2nd part was in and I went in again to get it fixed. They had my car for 5 hours then called to tell me they YET AGAIN did not order all of the parts needed!! They did offer me a discount for my inconvenience for the 3rd part, which is very nice. It seems to me that because of a lack of communication between the parts department I am suffering, They assured me the 3rd part would be in by the next Thursday or Friday. Well, now it is Saturday and I have called about the 3rd part. I was informed it probably wont be in for another week. So I still have no mirror, have been to the dealership on 3 different occasions in 5 weeks (and still have to go again), and am very frustrated. I purchased from this dealership and had no issues. I came back multiple times to check out the car I wanted and didn't feel pressured. They did a lot of the finance stuff over the phone since I had gone home and made the final decision on the car. Gave them a call and they started all the paperwork. So I basically just had to walk in and sign papers and go. Definitely less than an hour from start to finish. Overall it was an easy process and I'm happy with my new car. read more

Dolan Mazda Kia in Reno, NV was not the most pleasant experience of my life. I give this review one star because Cynthia, who worked with me before I came to Reno to buy my car, was most helpful. She never pressured me into anything and kept communication through text and email swift and pleasant. I live about 4 hours away from Reno, but wanted to buy my car there because it was cheaper than local places in my town. However, on October 17th 2014 I went to Dolan Mazda Kia to purchase a car and was first assisted by Jose. I can't say much about him besides he told me about the cars I test drove and didn't really try to pressure me into something. The only negative thing I would say about him is he automatically assumed what car I decided on, which is where my main problem possibly started. He also acted somewhat unprofessional on the test drives by texting and turning the radio up really loud. When I decided to get my Nissan I wasn't aware how many times they were running my credit, about 7 times, to find a loan for me. As a result my credit score dropped by about 30-40 points which will take some time to fix. I also came in knowing what sort of deals and fair prices were expected for the car I chose, about 15k-19k. I thought $16500 would be fair considering it had been a rental car and had 38k miles on it. However, they wouldn't come down on the price further than the 17k I brought them down to. I must say for being a first time buyer I did get a loan with 4.9% APR and low payments which is a plus. On October 20th or the 21st I went to DMV in my town and this is where the problems started. DOLAN MAZDA KIA SOLD ME THE WRONG CAR! I first noticed it because I was at DMV looking at the paperwork and the VIN numbers on the smog report and the paperwork didn't match along with the color of my car. I have never heard of this happening to anyone, and it was a HUGE inconvenience to me because I do live so far away and I work in retail so the holiday season had already started and I knew I was going to be slammed at work until January. I suppose as a customer you just expect the people who are selling you a car to have the right one. Well I called Dolan Mazda Kia and at first the guy, Cameron, said he was going to mail me the correct paperwork so I could sign in and send it back along with the correct EDRS. Well, I waited and waited with no call no mail from Dolan. I got fed up and called them again and got a call back from Jose saying he was going to drive to my house so I would sign the correct paperwork. Well apparently he wasn't aware I lived so far away because he called about 20 minutes later explaining he thought I lived in Fernly, which I do not. Then he said I was going to be mailed the correct paperwork to sign. Wasn't that the original plan? I received the paperwork, read it, made sure everything was ok and good to go and mailed it back. Again I waited and waiting for my correct paperwork copy to come back, for about 2 weeks and still nothing. I finally called Dolan Mazda Kia again and it turns out Camron, who was handling my paperwork, took vacation and was going to be gone for a few weeks. Well then I talked to someone named Alfonso who knew what was going on with my paperwork and said he would mail it in the next day or two. Well that's wonderful I've only been waiting for all this for a month now which is ridiculous in my opinion. It is now November 20th and still no paperwork. For all this inconvenience the only thing that was offered was a free tank of gas, which for my car on empty is about $40-50. To me this doesn't seem correct for the time I have wasted and spent with this company, $500 off my car seems more adequate but apparently that's not the customer service Dolan gives. Quite frankly I have never given or received such "customer service" such as this. It is the customers which keep a business in business. read more

I moved to Washington state per my work for 1 & half years, then transferred back to Nevada. I do like Mazda but not this dealership. Prior to moving back I purchased 2 2016 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring and 1 CX3 Sport all wheel drive. Today I noted my check enjoin like came on. I stopped in to see if they could check and tell if it was something serious, I was told NO there was no one available and would not be until 12th of July. A couple of months ago I purchased a 2014 Mazda 6. Sal the sales guy was okay. I felt the pressure after letting him know we were hungry and wanted to leave to discuss a possible purchase. We did go back and buy the car because of the car not really anything else. Sal had thrown in tinting the windows but since it wasnt mentioned in the finance room it was not added therefore its like it did not happen. Buyer beware in this department. Make sure everything is in writing. After many calls to Sal's voice mail we finally got through and I was able to schedule the tint appointment. When I dropped my car off, in passing, Sal mentioned he had to pay for my tint. Whatever. The shuttle service was great while I was waiting for my car. When I got back it was getting late and I was tired, so I took a quick look at the tint..I mean.. its tint...it looked good. The next day I got into my car and noticed LOTS of white streaks from the bottom of the window to the bottom of EVERY door. I live 63 miles away so with rag in hand I began to scrub and scrub and scrub. Nothing I was doing was working. I emailed the dealerships service manager and he promptly called me back. They came and picked my car up took it to the dealership, greased down the doors and returned it with a full tank. I was pretty happy with the service and willingness to go out of their way, however, the streaks are still there to this day along with melted weather stripping from the heat gun and a gouge on the plastic cover over the back light in the back window. I bought some leather conditioner and I scrub when I do my doors but as soon as the leather drinks in the conditioner you can see the streaks. They sent my car to Toyota for the tint..just a fyi for all of you that may be thinking about this. Whom ever did my car shouldve got his a** fired. We recently too my car in for her first oil change. None of the staff knew about the 200.00 hush money, I mean... store credit for what had happened. We did receive the oil change at no cost but it has its frustrations. Today I emailed the service manager again to follow up on the credit and to see where my weather stripping is. Over all this was a bad experience for me. This was my first new car purchase. We have excellent credit so they got their money right away..but I get to look at damages everyday done to my "new" car. I love Mazdas, and I've owned three, but I'm done with these guys. A brief explanation: covering 10 years and three cars: The service department has twice billed me for things they didn't do, about $450 in total. I questioned the charges, and it turned out they hadn't done the work. When I took one car back to have it done, they tried to bill me again, $160, for work I'd already paid for. I refused, and they apologized for the "mistake." On another occasion, I bought a used car there. We negotiated down to a price the salesman quoted as "Eleven." Eleven thousand, right? No. When they brought out the paperwork, it was $11,999, one dollar off our starting point. The sales manager said we must have misheard, but my wife was there and heard the same thing. ADDITION: I vowed never to go there again, but last month I spotted an ad for a car I liked, I checked it out, and it was exactly what I wanted. The salesman listened to my arguments about price and financing, including the fact that I could get a 2.4 percent loan from my credit union. He nodded throughout, murmured that it all sounded fine, that he worked with that credit union and he'd be back in a few minutes. When he returned, he kept up a steady stream of hype about what nice people we were and how happy he was to serve us as he slid the papers in front of me and handed me a pen. When I glanced at the numbers, I saw that he'd entered the original price, which I'd negotiated down a few hundred dollars, and a 3.9 percent loan. WTF, Dude? "Oh, just a mistake," he said, and scurried away. When he returned, he'd adjusted the numbers (to a 2.6 percent loan, which I accepted because we'll pay it off early anyway), and I'm afraid I signed that agreement without reading the entire thing again. Only after getting home did I discover that he'd changed the lender from my credit union to Wells Fargo without notifying me. That doesn't make a difference in cost, but I prefer not to to business with Wells Fargo because of its corporate policies and wouldn't have accepted the loan if he'd asked. I wouldn't shop here again if they were giving away YET MORE, a month later: Under intense pressure from the salesman, I bought an extended warranty for "50,000 miles of protection." That's almost always a bad idea, but my wife wanted it for peace of mind. Just today, going through the paperwork to make a payment, I happened to glance at the warranty and found that it covers me to an ODOMETER READING of 50,000 miles, not for 50,000 miles from the time I bought the car--in effect, I paid for 50,000 miles of "protection" and got about 21,000. Of course I should have read the multiple pages of tiny type, so in that sense it's my fault that I got ripped off. If you shop with these guys, read every word, and reread them when they bring back the 'corrected' form read more

I recently bought a BRAND NEW car from these clowns and it has been nothing but a nightmare. First off, all the sales people and management are sleaze balls. They promised me the world before I got the car (for example there were scratches on my bumper from something that happened on their lot and they said I could come back and get them fixed which hasn't happened in almost 3 months. Now they claim it will void the warranty. They also promised me window tinting, and never got that either.) They do not fulfill any of their empty promises. They will tell you whatever they can to get a sale, integrity means nothing to them. The check engine light came on after only 5,000 miles which is ridiculous for paying 30k for a car and I'm dreading bringing it in to them because I don't wanna deal with the inconsistent help and customer service. Absolutely awful experience! Stay away from here and save yourself the misery. My experience started at 0700 this morning when I couldn't start my 2014 Mazada 6 (push button start) and I was told to change the battery in my key fobs. I went to the Dolan Mazda dealership where I was redirected to KIA because no one could help me get a new battery there. That was my first red flag... but being my car is warrantied I hung in there. I returned home to my car and it still did not start. I had a the key within the key fobs and thought I could start it the old school way (insert key and turn lol) but could not locate where to insert the key, so I called the dealership again. We are at about 0830 now... I explained what had happened to the first service person who answered and she could not tell me if I did or did not have the ability to put the key in somewhere, and that she was unfamiliar with my car (little odd considering she works at MAZDA, in the SERVICE department!) so I was put on hold. 20 minutes went by and she found someone to help me so she transferred me.... no answer got a voicemail and left a message for the service manager to call me back. Now I will admit I am inpatient so I called the main number again and had a repeat experience with the same girl and I asked to speak to someone else, I found it hard to believe no one in the entire dealership could help me answer this simple question but apparently that was the case because I got the same voicemail. So at this point I am getting extremely frustrated! So I called again and this time got another lady who apologized and said here service manager was there and then gone and she couldn't find him so I got in my car and drove back over there, this is about 0930 at this point. So low and behold I walked in and there sits the manager, who seemed annoyed couldn't even welcome me, anyways I explained my issue and he informed me I do not have the option to stick the key in anywhere. Ok understandable, then I asked for some troubleshooting advice or what could be causing this? And his response was less than enthusiastic and not helpful at all. His replay was "I can't tell you anything unless you bring the car in". Now my experience at Mazads dealerships has always been the opposite and they are happy to offer advice over the phone. Not the case here. So now I order a tow truck driver (used AA in Reno and they are on point! Most helpful of my entire day!) They jumped my battery and sent me on the way. So I am now back here at Mazda. I walked in and the service manager again not happy to see me at treated me very condescendingly completely ignoring what I was saying and made it very clear that I was not covered by the manufactures warranty and that it would be $40 dollars to check my battery (I'm pretty sure any autocrats store does this free, but clearly I have no choice!) so I say okay and then ask him if my extended warranty would cover anything and he basically told be thats my problem to deal with because he only knows about the manufactures, rudely. Now it is 1530 and I am still waiting to see if I have a dead battery! I don't understand why this is taking so long and have not been updated!!! Hope fully I get out of here before dark but I am not holding my breath! From my experience here I have found the manager to be rude and condescending and the staff incompetent! STAY AWAY if you can!!!! read more

Sold us a battery that died after just 2 1/2 years, unable or unwilling (probably trying to push the problem out past the warranty!) to diagnose our failing starter. When I told a different mechanic all the symptoms he was able to figure out the starter was dead or dying in a few minutes...even a AAA guy was able to diagnose the failing starter in just a few minutes. Don't know if they are incompetent or trying to take advantage, but either way, I would NOT take a car here to be serviced! read more

I had a great experience while inquiring about a new vehicle. I first came just browsing some cars not really set on which make or model I wanted to settle on. I was greeted by Shane who was super kind and showed me the CX5 Touring model, which I wanted a little more information on. I appreciated that buying a car on the spot wasn't pushed down my throat rather than asking questions about my preferences in a vehicle. Dre followed up with me the next day asking if I wanted to test drive the vehicle and anything else he or his team could help out with. I agreed and Ciso took care of me from start to finish. This was the first chance I have had to use Dolan for service. My 92 Miata's slave cylinder failed us a few days ago and fortunately we were within close proximity to Dolan. We rolled in and were immediately greeted by the Service Manager who brought us into Doug one of the Advisors on staff that day. Doug and I talked about the issue and he mentioned that he has a Tech that specializes in RX and MX Mazdas. Dolan provided us a ride home and we waited for the call with the estimate. Doug qualified the estimate by saying that it will be on the high end and that he would rather be high and come down than to have to call back and give bad news. I gave him the go ahead to have the work done and asked about an oil change being done at the same time (if you have changed the oil in a Miata, you know it is a messy job). Doug called me back with a final price which included the oil change for significantly less than what even the original quote was. All in all a very good experience. . read more

My family recently purchased a 2015 Mazda CX-5 from this dealership. They had a large selection, and after looking over quite a few we made our choice. The price was within our predetermined range, and the sales staff were not pushy at all. We looked at other small SUVs, or Crossovers as they are called, around Reno and felt there was very little difference in the various makes. The service department needs to get rid of Rodney. He is very condescending and rude. Customer Service is not the place for him. Having someone ask "Do you want the good news or the bad news, first" when you are having an expensive item serviced is not a tactic that should be used in quality customer service. When making my appointment, I told the person on the phone the issue with our car and they made the appointment with no other information. Took my last name gave me a time and that was it. When I arrived with my car on a tow truck, Rodney said "where's your 2nd key?" I said "at home" (I have never needed both keys for a car service). He said "you will need to go and get it" Keep in mind that I live on the other side of town and have two children under 2 years of age. I went back and retrieved the key and upon walking in the service department This is when he asked if I wanted the good new or the bad news. Apparently they started working on my car as soon as I left and found they would not need the 2nd key. He failed to call and tell me this so I trekked my self and my children all around for no reason. He told me that the car would be done in a few minutes if I wanted to wait and I said I would be back in 30 minutes because I needed to get some food for my children. When I returned, Rodney was on lunch and Steve (who has been the only saving grace for this experience) told me the service guy had not even finished diagnosing the issue so he does not know why Rodney would have told me it was almost ready. If there were a different Mazda dealer I would be running to them just due to Rodney's lack of knowledge in customer service. I work in customer service myself and it always pains me when I walk into a place of business (especially when the title above the door says "service") and find that the person there to greet me and "help" me with my needs is going through the motions and providing mediocre and lackluster service. So much for making me feel part of the family or the Dolan "Difference". Twice they were unable to help me and it didn't seem that the manager made any effort in trying to be accommodating. I had to get to work, I couldn't wait around for two hours! What should have been a perfect planed morning turned to be such an inconvenience. What I learned is never ever ever buy from the Dolan group, they do not make good on their slogan. I took the car to Jiffy Lube across the street, they did an oil change, filter change and smog in about 30 min and great customer service! I needed to get my car and my daughter's car serviced so I called Dolan Toyota to get them scheduled. I explained to them I bought my car from them and my daughter's from Mazda, but it would be convenient to just take them both to Toyota. The person on the phone said no problem and scheduled me in for both. When I took my daughter's car I was told in order to be able to use the service package I bought when I purchased the car I needed to take it to Mazda. Aren't you all the same "family"??? At this point I'm annoyed but it was like ok fine I'll take it there but will they honor my appointment? Rick the service person at Toyota said, "Yes, it was our mistake so I will call the service department manager to let him know so they can take you right in. Plus since they are a smaller service department they are less busy so you may be done faster." So, I drive to Mazda. Upon my arrival I spoke to the department manager (can't remember his name) I explained what happened, he said he had not received a phone call or anything. That he would be able to take the car but he had 4 cars in front of me so it would be about 2 hours! I explained what Rick from Dolan Toyota had said, he made no effort in trying to get in touch with him or to accommodate for the service or anything. It really made me mad because a few months before I had called Mazda to schedule a service, the person on the phone said that there was no need to make an appointment that I could just take it in. So when I took the car in the same person (service department manager) said I had to have an appointment. That time I thought ok fine... I scheduled my appointment and took my daughter's car in later. read more

This post is a little late but I figured I'd update like I said I would. My father and I ended up going back the next day where we were greeted by Carlos. He took us to his office and we had a discussion as to what occurred and how I didn't want it to happen to anyone else. He explained how my situation was a rare case but even after a couple weeks have passed I still can't help but wonder if anyone else has ever been screwed over by this Dolan Mazda Dealership the way I was tried. It concerns me simply because this is the actual dealership rather than some small auto shop, meaning I should never experience trust issues when it comes to choosing Dolan Mazda to fix my car. My father demanded they apologize to me for the way I was treated and yet of course Steve Thayer still chose to respond distastefully saying, "I was never rude to your daughter" when he is in fact the main person at the dealership I, to this day, remain having an issue with. I think he is super rude and for being the first person you encounter when walking in to that dealership, needs training on customer service. Anyways, Carlos did thankfully apologize and even went as far as filling up my dads gas tank, promising me a future starter in case mine ever breaks (since they practically jinxed me), and lastly fixing my windshield. This was a much better experience than the first one I had but ultimately I still can't say for sure that my trust is fully theirs again. read more

We have purchased three Mazdas and have been really happy with the brand. Unfortunately, my experience with service department has ensured that we will no longer be loyal customers. When having our car in for an oil chane at our usual place, they noticed that our water pump was leaking. They suggested we take it to the dealership since it was stlill under warranty. I called Mazda's parts department and left a clear message with my concerns, leaving my name and number twice. Even though their message assured that my call would be returned within four hours, I still had not heard back the next day. I called again and finally got to speak to someone. I explained the situation to him and he was so disrespectful and rude, that I was immediately put off. He told me that even though the miles were under warranty that he probably wouldn't be able to help me because of the year purchased. It had only been two years and four months, so he said that he may be able to help us but only if we've had it serviced there. When I told him that we hadn't, he responded with a snide, "humph". When I told him I thought that they should still cover it he just kept going,"humph". I finally told him him what he wanted to hear, that I would take it somewhere else, he just hung up. I took it to Reno Vulcanizing, and they told me I should take it to the dealer because it was still under warranty. I told them that I was happy to pay them just to not deal with that dealership. I have had to have warranty work done with Toyota and Mini, and they were both gracious, apologetic and pleasant to deal with. I will definitely keep that in mind for my next car purchase. read more

I would give 5 Stars to Steve in Mazda Service, but Zero stars to everyone else at Dolan. Since their primary lines are Toyota & Lexus, they give no respect at all to Mazda customers. Their off-site Call Center knows nothing about Mazda or servicing them, all they do is take appointments. They make it impossible to actually talk to someone in the Mazda Service dept. When I showed up for my appointment, my regular service writer Steve was at lunch so I had to deal with a very rude young woman. The oil change and very minor warranty work would take about 60 to 90 minutes, she said. Four hours later, my car still wasn't ready, and they didn't do the tire rotation I ordered - though she charged me for it - and they didn't check the brakes. When I asked why, she was very snippy, saying I needed new tires. Why couldn't they have called me on my cell phone to let me know that? In the process of working on the car, the tech broke my air conditioning vent system and had to order a part. So I had to go with only half the air conditioning flow for two weeks when it was over 100 degrees every day, then had to take another day off to go back to get that fixed. Steve took care of me the next time, which was good. But the horrible experience with the useless Dolan Call Center and the rude girl I got in Service makes me wish Dolan had some competition in this market. read more

This dealership is absolute garbage. From the first moment we were there we were lied to. I wanted to look at a used car that was listed on their website and was originally told was still available. When I arrived I was told it wasn't there so I test drove a 2015 just because. I was upfront and honest with my intentions about only wanting to test drive with no intent on buying from the beginning. The initial salesman was pleasant and respectful. After the test drive I was introduced to some pee on supervisor named Eric who was extremely disrespectful from the beginning. He told me, "we are in the now business, you don't go to the dentist just to look around." He actually compared buying a car to going to the dentist like I was a complete idiot. He then began to say, "so what was the point of coming in?" He acted as if I was inconveniencing him... This is your job you scum bag... At this point I was done with his degenerate service. While walking out, to my surprise the original car I wanted to see magically appeared. How convenient for me... I expect car salesman to behave a certain way but what surprised me is Eric actually expected me to cave and buy a car I knew I couldn't afford through guilt tripping me. I'm in the business of looking out for me. I could care less that some POS expects me to buy a care out of intimidation and guilt. What's even more sad is that his disrespectful, elitist behavior has most likely worked in the past and I feel sorry for those who couldn't realize this. All in all I will end up getting a Mazda but this dealership could benefit from loosing Eric. read more

I have brought my vehicle to them twice now and am very disappointed with their service departments customer service. The first time was because of a headlight which ended up needing the entire light compartment replaced. They fixed it but it is definitely not done well and is not flush with the car. My second time it started off better except for the women I spoke to to get me to the correct department, they were either having a bad day or are just rude. Once I spoke to the service manager he assured me to bring it right in and they would have it fixed within and hr or so. I brought it in and 2 hrs later I had to approach the desk to inquire why it was taking so long. He said Oh, do you want the good or bad news first? What this really meant was they had the car for 2 hrs and did not fix anything! He also told me they didn't have the right part so they tried to rig a part they knew would not work and it didn't. Being the manager of the service department I would also expect you to know your information. The manager also told me a hose replacement would not be a problem but once again after 2 hrs he finally told me that the hose was not a possibility either unless I wanted to replace all the parts connected to the hose meaning an additional $800. It's one thing if the car can't be fixed. It's another to make me wait for 2 hours while you play with your new phone just to tell me sorry we can't do anything. My wife and I bought a new Mazda 3 s Grand Touring and the service was the best I ever had when shopping for a new car. We had David Ellison as our sales rep and he was extremely patient, and very knowledgeable on every trim available. He gave very little pressure on buying a car and much more concern for making sure we got the right car for our needs. The sales manager, Hubert Little, is a very nice guy. He is very straight forward on the best deals for the cars. When I had second thoughts about which cars to get, he let me take them home for the night to help me make up my mind. I finally payed for a car, and changed my mind the next day. Again, David and Hubert, No hassle, no problem, and still gave me a great deal! We had Alfonso Seoane in finance and he did his best to get us the lowest interest rate possible. I would highly recommend David, Hubert, and Alfonso when shopping for a new car. read more
