Wanted some gelato and stumble upon this place. Cute place in the heart of laguna beach. They have a LOT of flavors to chose from. As soon as I walked in the HI coconut flavor quickly caught eyes. Wow it was absolutely tasty. The texture was perfect and the amount of sweet was just right- not too sweet. The place was nice and clean. My only comment is the server/staff should wear gloves while serving ice cream. Especially during Covid 19 pandemic. It will give the customer a much safer feeling and of course potentially minimize exposure. Parking could be an issue on a busy weekend, especially during the summer time. Came here on a whim when we stumbled in and were craving ice cream. They had plenty of flavors to choose from and friendly staff. They have some non dairy options and other options for people that have dietary restrictions as well. We went for a scoop each of the pistachio and ferrero rocher flavors on a waffle cone to share. Personally our favorite was the pistachio. It was perfect! The price was fair also since we got a lot of ice cream. I do prefer the huge variety and more options for flavors at Gelato Paradiso, but if the line is too much for you to bear, this place is a great alternative. Absolutely loved this place! We were having a family beach day so we decided to end our summer day the best way we know how, ICE CREAM of course(well gelato in this case)! There was definitely a line when we arrived, which was expected as it was a pretty jumping day at the beach. I ordered a small cone with Crème Brûlée & Espresso gelato. SO GOOD!! My husband ordered the Thriller & the Oreo which he also devoured. Our one year old daughter was also a big fan of the Oreo! Service was also friendly. Thank goodness for this gelato spot, and more importantly, JULIA behind the counter. We were walking back to our car after being kicked out of Carmelita's on the corner at 9:20pm. We had made reservations for my sister's golden birthday dinner celebration at 8:30pm, and the first time our server came to our table, she said it was last call for food and drinks. She sucked the life out of the night, and I would never go back. That being said, Julia was the light of the evening. We wanted to attempt to lift our spirits with some gelato, and we were surprised to find that Julia was who we needed. We chatted, laughed and got to know each other in a very short amount of time. She made my sister and my parents smile and turned the whole night around. She gave us all these fabulous gelato combos, and we excitedly agreed to try them out. I actually used to work for a gelato shop, and I feel like I missed the opportunity to bring the same energy as Julia. She's a rad person and someone to meet while you're on this planet. I came here because Gelato Paradiso always has a huge line and it was just okay when I tried it. I wanted to see how this place compared so I was really excited. It wasn't busy when I went despite it being a sunday so it didn't take long to order. The girl with curly brown hair and glasses taking our order was extremely rude and condescending. My friend told her I was also going to order and yelled at them that we pay down at the register... we knew that? we were just letting her know we are still ordering and not to move on to the next customer. When I told her what I wanted she acted like she didn't understand me by yelling "I can't hear which one you want!" The girl at the register was also super rude and just mocking us with her. The whole experience was horrible and probably the worst customer service I've received in the area. I WON'T BE COMING BACK AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU. One thing about Laguna beach is that they have some delicious Gelateria. This is one of them and I love that the flavors do change from time to time. As for gelato, anything with hazelnut and chocolate is going to be one of the flavors I get. They have Ferrero Rocher (which is also my favorite chocolate). It is a must try! But besides that there are so many good flavors to try from it's hard to decide. It's located on Broadway right before you get to PCH coming from the Laguna Canyon. Parking in Laguna beach is always the trickiest part but walking in Laguna beach is very pleasant. Dolce Gelato is worth the walk, specially on a hot sunny day at the beach. read more

First time in Laguna Beach exploring and wanted to follow up our lunch with something sweet. After learning of their Willie Wonka theme flavors, we needed to stop by to try! The place was consistently busy around 4pm on a Saturday. The space is open and has a few tables and chairs to enjoy your gelato in the shade and AC. The three people behind the counter ensured everyone was getting helped which made the wait go by super quick. We did sample a few flavors before making a decision. I always feel guilty with sampling, but it was a very comfortable environment and they were super helpful. I will say, I had a good laugh when I saw the young man behind the counter give his version of sample scoops. His samples were straight up spoonfuls of gelato. If I had him, I wouldn't complain, but would be full from all the samples! We got a kids size (2 flavors) and it was perfect to not overstuff us. The Willie Wonka flavor is ube and cotton candy but the only cotton candy part was the topping. Definitely recommend this flavor. The Nutty Irishman was also good, tasted more like hazelnut peanut butter. Oompa Loompa flavor was Thai tea and Marzipan, but the only Thai tea was the color. I got a small cup with two flavors- chocolate chip and alice(lemon with blueberries). Omg both were amazing. I especially liked Alice, the lemon flavor was a treat for the tastebuds. I spent a lovely long weekend in Laguna Beach this past weekend. Over the 4 days, I went to two of the gelato establishments in town. Hands down, Dolce Gelato gets my vote for 5 stars (or more, if possible). 1. Staff is super courteous and knowledgeable on their gelato. 2. The gelato has amazing flavor and is extremely creamy. The double chocolate is super chocolatey, the coconut has great flavor and lots of pieces of coconut, and the triple berry sorbet was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. 3. Great array of vegan options made with either coconut or almond milk or water. 4. The names of the gelatos are fabulous!!! One of my favorites for name and taste was "Smoke on the Water," which I paired with double chocolate...simply delicious!!! Dolce Gelato was so good, I went back on our last day after having very disappointing gelato that is found on the main road in Downtown Laguna (after having to stand in a 30 minute line to have bad gelato at a more expensive price!!!). My sister kindly asked how many flavors would fit in a small cone, to which the scooper replied four. This time my bestie had them cater the desert for a soiree! I had no say in the selection and honestly of their vast selection I would have chosen differently but she stuck to crowd pleasers. I had a fruit of the forest (vegan sorbet(ish) and a deep chocolate something. As always the ingredients were SUPER fresh and it tasted divine. The 70 or so people there were in love as well.
