After arriving on time for our 6:30 reservation, we stood waiting for another 35 minutes to be seated. As if this were not bad enough, when we arrived at the table, the wine glasses that were "washed" still had red wine in them and we then had to wait another 15 minutes for a high chair to be delivered to the table. When food finally arrived at 8:30, just a mere 2 hours after our reservation, it was hit or miss based on your order. Some orders such as the salmon were fine. Others such as the bow tie primavera were inedible. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. It's obvious that this restaurant is terribly mismanaged with the owner playing the role of hostess, bus boy, waiter and manager - leaving the customer to suffer. read more

This restaurant was such a nice surprise! We were looking for a decent place to eat on the way from NYC to Pittsburgh and found this place midway. The red sauce is the best i have ever had!! I'll start by being positive- the food was good... however, here's the negative... Upon making my reservation for 16, the owner suggested I tell everyone in advance that he'd prefer cash payment and highly encouraged that we order just a few like entrees, rather than a lot of different ones. Well, I had no intention of telling my friends these two suggestions, but the owner asked me as soon as we got there if I conveyed his thoughts. Nino the owner is the most personable person I know. He takes the time to get to know his customers and it shows. BYOB is a huge plus and they always provide glassware for your beverages. My parents love this restaurant... both when dining in and taking out. I had to try it when I was visiting and I was not disappointed. First off, the owners also run the restaurant and they are so friendly and pleasant to talk to. They will take good care of you (even if ordering and arranging pickup for someone else from another state- long story for another time). On this visit, I went to the restaurant and ordered in person. The food was ready when I was told to return to pick it up and packaged perfectly in containers and then set up in a box for easy carrying. The food was so flavorful and authentic. My dad's favorite is the lasagna and my mother says the chicken marsala is the best she has had. I got the eggplant spinach rolls. I was afraid that the fried eggplant would not hold up as take out, but it was so perfect that it did not get soggy! The red sauce was fantastic. It was perfectly seasoned and provided the perfect acidic punch to the eggplant stuffed with tons of spinach and a ricotta cheese blend. The meals all come with salad and bread. I recommend the house dressing for your salad. You will not be disappointed. The bread was soft and perfect for sopping up the salad dressing and red sauce. I enjoyed my meal, but had a bad experience with the server or hostess. We had a reservation for our party of 8 and had finished our meals and paid our bills after only one and a half hours. Although we were still finishing our drinks, we were asked to leave as to free up the table for another party of 8 that was waiting to be seated. We had to take our drinks and while standing, we finished them before we left the restaurant. Very disappointing, as I've only had good experiences at Dolce Vita in the past. Going out to dinner with friends should include the meal and time for socializing. Dinner reservations should be a minimum of two hours. read more

Made reservations for my wife and I for Valentine's Day. I was told we got the last reservation of the evening at 8:00. We've been here a few years ago and experienced really terrible service. We heard new owners have dramatically improved the business. So, we tried again. We arrived a few minutes early to find a few folks also waiting to be seated. No one greeted us at the door. No one asked about our reservations or seemed to care. A dark haired woman yelled for us to go "upstairs" and pointed to the stairway. Once we were "upstairs" a staff person pointed to a table and told us to go, "sit "there." We complied and sat at our designate table that directly faced a wall. A special view for a special day. No one approached us for service or, at least, a welcome/introduction. Being a BYOB establishment we brought a bottle of wine and a premixed cocktail. No one offered to uncork the wine or provide a glass for the cocktail. In addition to the usual table setting pieces two glasses of pre-poured water were on the table. No ice...room temperature with a shriveled lemon slice. After 20+ minutes a server approached us. She attempted to hand me a bill!! Surely she noticed we haven't been waited on. Nope! She walked away still confused about the who to hand it to. After a few more minutes and another server approached with yet anther bill. Two bills...NO SERVICE. A third server eventually approached. This was finally our server! Nope! She asked if were were waiting for our salads. We clearly told her we had yet to be waited on. She said, "okay" and that she was send someone. She walked through the "upstairs" dining area passing by two or three other servers. She never said a word to any of these staffers. She was never seen again. No one made any effort to wait on us. We got up and put our coats on. We walked through the dining area, passing by some servers. We walked down the steps, passed by the woman who told us to "go upstairs" No one ever approached us, questioned us or even seemed to notice us. Once seated, we both noticed that the flowers were dead... And I'm not taking wilted... Dead and brown... Drooping. We have been dining here ever since Nino was located in Enola. We did not go for several months as we do not dine out much during the warmer months. When we went in November there was no sign of Nino and an entirely new staff. The new owner is Maria from a pizza place in Camp Hill. Nino purchased the old Petes Cafe in New Cumberland and is renovating for an opening in 2019. This was a weeknight so no problem getting a table at 6:15 w/o a reservation. We were promptly served water and someone opened our wine. The menu remains the same so we were ready when Maria, the new owner arrived at our table. Salads are included with the entree. However, previous visits included a salad with fresh greens, not iceberg lettuce! If the prices are to remain the same as the previous owner, I would advise the new owner to provide a better quality salad. It is akin to drinking cheap wine vs. a better bottle. The cost is minimal but may make the difference. read more

It was our first visit to Dolce Vita at the Camp Hill location, and everything was fantastic. I am vegetarian and ordered the bow tie pasta with vegetables and marinara, and it was delicious. Usually there is a scant amount of vegetables and too much pasta, but not here. My dish was loaded with perfectly cooked veggies! The salad and bread were tasty, and the service was top notch. While the food came quickly and was very good, the atmosphere was very noisy and the staff was literally running through the dining room and up and down the steps. May try again but not on a weekend. The man standing on the roof when we arrived said he did try to call the day before, but we did not believe him. This is by far the best Italian Restaurant I have ever eaten at. The owner is very gracious and makes you feel like family. The service is excellent and was very attentive to our dining experience. The best part of the evening of course is the food. They have great selections and everything is exceptional. The portions are huge and you definitely do not leave hungry. Everything is homemade and comes out hot and delicious. I had the Veal Francese and it was so tender and the sauce was fresh and delicious.
