I had a leak in my Jura S-9 espresso machine which was causing water to flow onto our counter. Matt was able to repair the leak and replaced the entire brew group in one (!) hour. When I got home and tasted my first cup from the machine, I couldn't believe how much better it tasted. Whether due to the leak or from the old brew group or from something else, there had been a very bitter taste which was completely eliminated. Now, the taste of every cup is quite smooth. I have a Jura S8 that was starting to give us problems (this is our third edition of the Jura) by not giving the adequate amount of water and giving a system filling message before a drink selection could be finished. In these days of social distancing, our great Jura coffee was one thing that was better than a $5 trip to Starbucks. Matthew suggested a couple items to adjust before sending the machine for repair. The internal cleaning and course grind adjustment got our machine purring again without any trip to the repair shop. Matthew come out to our house to repair an issue with my Rocket R58 Espresso machine. I rely on my favorite household appliance daily for a perfect espresso. Matthew was prompt, extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain exactly what the issue was. He then fixed it quickly without requiring any additional parts and for the agreed on fee. I have trouble trusting anyone with my Espresso machine and can recommend Matthew without any reservation, he's a pro. While he was at the house, I asked him for a more economical solution than my BodyGlove water filter (replacement cartridges are over $400!) I was using for the Rocket's water supply, he suggested an RO filter (reverse osmosis). I had him out to install two, one for the espresso machine and another for my kitchen's drinking water spigot. Matthew returned as agreed a week later and did a great job with a difficult installation (the kitchen install was in very cramped quarters). I've had a few very minor issues the the filter since, but Matthew has been incredible in his response times (often only a minute or two via email) to help me troubleshoot issues. My JURA S9 of 10 yrs stopped working with an error 8 on Christmas day!!! I frantically searched for repair options in Los Angeles and Dolce Vita came up as the first choice so I emailed him immediately. To my surprise, Matthew replied to me within a few minutes and was extremely flexible on when I can drop off the machine to him. I dropped off the machine in the morning of 12/30. The evening of 12/30 Matthew had taken the machine apart and knew that the error was related to the brew group and it needed a thorough cleaning. He called me multiple times that night informing me of his progress. The machine is 10 yrs old and had never been cleaned. After a thorough cleaning, Matthew called to informed me that I probably need to replace the brew group and that it was a direct order from Germany. He would call back to keep me posted, this was late in the evening on 12/30. To my surprise, Matthew calls me up late 12/31 NEW YEARS EVE and tells me that he rebuilt the brew group and everything is working ready for me to pick up and I no longer needed to replace it. Even better, after all that cleaning, rebuilding, he's sticking to the same price originally quoted. Matthew is truly a professional and is committed to his craft. His customer service and communications are top notch! I am soo happy to have my machine back! I'm also happy that I can support a local small business owner who is really doing an awesome service for us espresso machine owners. I doubt I would've received anywhere near the level of communication and fast turn-around for the repair if I had gone directly to JURA. I sent my old Jura Z5 to Matthew and what should have been easy breeze turned in to FedX night mare - had it not been for Matthew my machine would be sitting somewhere never to be seen again-not only did he fix it quickly but he called and emailed to let me know that FEDX had not issed a tracking number nor did they register it to my account - I dont know him and he spent time on the phone with FEDX which is not easy feat ( as we all know). I live in San Luis Obispo, my machine is 20 years old (Euro 2000), it had stopped working and I could not find anyone who would take on the job until I called Matt. Fixed my 8 year old Jura S9 with new parts and works like new. $200 job completed while I waited compared to sending it in to the factory at over twice the cost and waiting 2 weeks to have it back. Yes, he works from his house and only services the better quality machines that actually have parts and are not throw away units. The poor reviews seem to be people that don't seem to understand that if he says he does not fix something, then he can't help you. The Mercedes guys cant work on your Toyota, get a life!!! Extremely happy to have found Mr. Schwartz - he is honest, professional, and realistic. I have a 12 y o 240V Jura Impressa and he has given it a stay of execution. Matthew was SO sweet and knowledgable! I brought a Jura Impressa that I purchased at a discount a while back. It never worked 100% properly, but recently started producing poor-tasting coffee. Michael took my machine from my car, brought it inside, and tested it while I was waiting outside to see if there were any obvious issues. Shortly thereafter, he came out and essentially said that I was sold a bogus machine because of reason X, and that I can either get a good refurbished one from X or pay $250 including shipping to send the machine to Jura for proper refurbishment. Rude & unprofessional. I had been working with a great, friendly and helpful company on the East Coast for many years where I have purchased and serviced all of my Gaggia machines. When I moved to LA, I thought I would use a local business. I called Dolce Vita regarding a part for one of my machines. The guy who answered acted like I was bothering him and seemed too impatient to help me repair the machine or get the part I needed. Rather than discuss any options with me, after just five minutes, he actually cut me off saying, "I gotta' go" and hung up. No apology. No goodbye. No "can I call you back"? If this is how they treat a new customer-who needs to give them business? There are plenty of businesses that are glad for the opportunity to gain a new customer and treat each customer with respect. Dolce Vita has no business being in the customer facing service industry. Full stop. Well, Apparently the rude unprofessional owner is named Matthew, and his response was to double down on his bad attitude, which just illustrates my point. I approached Matthew in a friendly and respectful manner. However, as he states in his response, he found my business not worthy of his time and chose to be unprofessional and disrespectful. I've run a successful business for over 20 years, and my father has before me. I was taught to respect every customer, no matter how big or small, as what goes around comes around in business. Mathew clearly has not learned this critical lesson and is now calling someone he has never met, by a derogatory term in public. It appears, by several of his responses to customers who have reported the same horrible attitude, he is clearly not emotionally equipped to run a customer-facing business. It's time for him to retire or seek emotional help. Any potential customer reading this exchange, is now forewarned. And the saga continues. Here is Matthew's second follow-up response, for those of you thinking of doing any business with this guy: "Excuse me, there WAS no business you had for me, you stupid dickhead. All you wanted was a $5 part I did not have, and which I told you where to get. Right? Did I not tell you that? That's it in a nutshell. He had no idea who I was, who I might refer to him, nor what future business I might bring his way. There was no apology, no respect or sense of courtesy shown. He simply hung up. Every successful business owner knows that all interactions with a customer, let alone a new one, could lead to future business and even referrals. My $5 purchase could have lead to quite a bit of business down the road, as it has with the company I did business with in New York. The fact that he doesn't seem to grasp this most basic element of customer relations, should tell you all you need to know when deciding to engage with this business. I have a Jura Impressa c5. But dug a broken jura impressa x90 out of my brother in laws garage. He said i was welcome to it if I could fix it. I called Matthew and explained the problem. He was over in less than 24 hours with the problem fixed. He also gave me some valuable insight on my c5, adjusted the grind and offered tips. For example: do not adjust the grind unless it's in mid cycle. Maybe I knew that before but forgot. Anyway, thanks Matthew! Great job. You are the bomb on high end coffee maker repair.
