Matt quickly repaired our Jura Capressa S9 Avantgarde (leaking and tray missing error randomly popping-up). My husband sent email late Friday afternoon saying he could only bring in the unit on the weekends (we live in Orange County, CA)....Matt immediately called and said he could fix on Saturday or Sunday. Matthew came over and installed a reverse osmosis water filtration system because our espresso machine was getting a lot of buildup in it and because it now is directly connected to a water line we never have to refill the tank. I was sure my 4 year old Jura was about to hit the grave.. but my husband found this gem on yelp and man, were we grateful! We called and we received a return call within a hour and we set up an appointment for the very next day. My husband brought our beloved machine to him -- and he knew exactly what to do. We ended up have the brewer replaced and he said the spout was clogged. He said we easily put a few more years into it's life. He was very attentive -- and you could tell by listening to him that he knew what he was doing. My husband couldn't have been happier-- even though he had to drive an hour to get to him. If we had gone straight to Jura, we would have paid twice as much with no guarantee of it really living much longer. It took an hour for him to repair, not weeks of it being with the Jura store. He brought it home, we made some coffee -- and we were both surprised that we had forgotten how the machine is SUPPOSED to make coffee. I've had my Expobar Brewtus IV machine for about 5~6 years with no problem and recently the pressure gauge started to fluctuate up and down crazily while brewing the espresso and it finally gave out and just stayed at like gauge 2~3. I thought something was wrong with the pump and contacted with the company that I originally purchased the machine. It was purchased online so I couldn't ask the tech to come out to fix it. They sent me a youtube video link that shows how to change the pump. It wasn't like it looks so hard to follow but I didn't feel comfortable doing it by myself. So I started to look for an espresso machine repair shop in here LA and Mathew popped up the first when I yelped. I dropped off the machine to his shop and he called me back about 15 mins later saying everything works fine and it's the just the cheap and poor quality gauge that does the crazy thing. I wasn't still convinced and told him what I've been doing with the machine last few weeks, changing the coarseness of the grinds, testing the machine using the guideline I got from the company I purchase the machine and so on. He told me it could be the grinder and suggested me to bring it in to test. I never thought it could be my grinder, which I paid like $600 with my espresso machine. I wouldn't list the brand name here but it turned out that it was the grinder. He showed me how his commercial grade grinder grinds the coffee consistently compared to mine. I could see there was a huge difference. He recommended a few commercial grade grinders. So, now I not only confirmed that my machine is working fine but he also educated me how much the grinder can affect to the quality of the shot I make. I'm ordering one of the brand he recommended. Yikes... I consider myself a pretty good judge of small businessman skill and veracity... but not this time. This guy talks the talk, but little else. My machine needed a lot, but nothing out of the ordinary. I took it to him... he called me 2 hours later and said come get it... it was fixed... i got it home and it was leaking... i had him come to me and get the machine... he called the next day and said it was fixed (more money) and he'd deliver it... he came, we plugged it in and it was dripping somewhere else plus it sounded like a small jet taking off. I sent Mr Schwartz and my ill spent 425(?) away. 3 months later my 1500 machine barely works and I'll be starting all over again. update 6/10/13... the problems continue... i've found a good place to finally repair my machine, but now i'm paying to have much of the work done previously, removed and redone properly... so now, the $ adds to the 425 i paid dolce vita and the over 200 to correct those mistakes... pretty soon, i could have bought a new machine... please beware... read more

Great service. Jura Capressa will have you believe that ONLY they can service their coffee makers. Most service shops we called also gave us that answer and would not work on the machine. Matt does work on them, has a parts inventory and through experience knows the tricks and special configurations required to make these machine function smoothly. He works from home so call to make an appointment. Our machine was repaired and cleaned in less than an hour - we dropped it off, ran an errand then picked it up for a bill 1/5th of what Jura quoted to repair our Impressa S9. They are great coffee makers made by another company in Switzerland, distributed by Jura with a somewhat 'odd' and monopolistic business model so you need to get creative when seeking repairs. You can trust Matt at Dolce Vita to be that guy. read more

I had a pleasant experience with Matthew, the owner and repair serviceman for Dolce Vita. I had an Francis Francis X1 that needed repair. For only $20, Matthew took the machine apart and was able to diagnose the problem. It was a faulty heating element that had ruptured. I had looked on several forums and found this to be a common problem with the X1 machine...it's a beauty to look at, but the insides aren't put together very well. Matthew took care of making all the necessary calls to find a replacement part, and he was quite polite and punctual with the quotes that he found. Alas, with the X1, there is only one US distributor of parts for the machine, and they're not cheap. Matthew offered me an excellent quote for repair, and I price checked so I know he's honest. But the machine, due to the cost of the part, just wasn't worth fixing at the time. I'd recommend Dolce Vita for your repairs in a second. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars was because I couldn't give a full review for services rendered since I didn't have the machine fixed. It's worth taking your machine to Matthew to find out what's wrong with it. I had a great experience! read more

I took my Jura S9 to Dolce Vita after sending the unit to the manufacture twice for repair. Obviously, the repairs were not effective as I continued to have problems. I called Matthew in the morning, dropped the machine off before lunch and had a call that afternoon that he was finished. Matthew checked it from top to bottom, did a full descaling, examined the brewer mechanism, boilers, etc. and made sure everything was working fine. He also gave me some wonderful tips to prevent issues going forward - very helpful and things I wouldn't have known. These systems are too expensive to have these issues. Give Matthew a call. I have a Jura ENA4 that is about 5 years old. It started developing a minor leak under the machine. I checked with the US distributor but they charge a flat fee of around $400! I found Dolce Vita and Matt through a Google search and am glad I did. After speaking with Matt, it became clear that he is knowledgeable and passionate about espresso machines. As you can see from my only 1 other review on Yelp, I don't normally write reviews. But Matthew at Dolce Vita was such a LIFESAVER for me that I had to write one for him! I have a 13 year old Jura S9 that, over the course of the years, has been back to Jura about four times for service. When I got an "Error 4" message and Jura told me that meant I had to send it back for a $375 repair (and about two weeks without the machine), I was ready to throw the towel in and started looking for a new machine. If you're even reading this to begin with, you probably know how stressful it is when your morning routine is disrupted by a broken machine and you're trying to find the perfect replacement for it; not only could I not seem to find a new machine that would have all that I love about my S9, but I also couldn't justify spending that much for a new machine. My husband said "Isn't there someone who can fix it locally?" That's when (via Yelp reviews) I found Matthew. He replied instantly to my email with what needed to be done and with a very reasonable price quote. I was unable to get myself to Matthew's to drop my machine off, so for an extra charge he came to pick it up and drop it back off. He came on Monday morning and told me he would have it back to me by Tuesday, but lo and behold, he called me a couple hours after picking it up to say that it was ready and he would be over in about an hour! As an added bonus, he fixed the loose handle (not a functional problem, but it was annoying nonetheless) that Jura didn't repair the last time I sent the machine in, and he showed me how to dry the tray properly so I wouldn't keep getting "tray missing" messages (Jura only told me to clean the contacts if I got this message; they never told me the tray had to be dry where the contacts met). Matthew saved me both money and the hassle of shipping my machine back to Jura (not to mention having to run to the coffee shop to get my fix) and bundles of money in buying a new machine. He probably just gave me another 10 years with this machine and I am once again a happy morning cappuccino drinker!
