Reservation means nothing to this restaurant! This restaurant came highly recommended so I called one week before to make a reservation at the bar for 2. When we arrived on time our reservation was in the book but there were no seats. We were asked to have a seat at a table till one opened up at the bar. We were annoyed to say the least. We asked to speak to the manager... a few minutes later the chef/owner came over to us. We explained what happened and his response was well these are my regulars. I told him he took my reservation and I was not told ok only if my regulars don't come.... Never would Nova kitchen do that! We are regulars there and they always fulfill our reservation. We should just stick with our favorite. No one was moving we were hungry so decided to just stay at the table we were at. We place our order... steamed clams for appetizers and two entrees. Well our entrees come before our appetizers! Then here come the clams... big fat clams not my style or taste. This restaurant unfortunately gets a two stars from us and we do not intend on returning. read more

We met up with our friends to have a late lunch here, they were coming from NJ and we were coming from Westchester. We chose Dolce Vita because we read the many good reviews. We had crispy calamari and baked clams oreganata for appetizers. For our main entree, I had red wine braised short ribs, my BF had bouillabaisse, my friend had grilled shrimp and scallops and her hubby had half rack of lamb and for our dessert we had Spanish flan with berries and chocolate mousse in chocolate tulip shell. Everything we ate was good, delish, no complaints. We all finished our food. Our biggest problem was we FELT INVICIBLE. Not once did the waitress or any staff asked how we were doing, never checked if we need anything. We don't want to play the "race" card here but looking around we were the only minorities. All other customers were all caucasian. Our waitress was busy chatting with the couple at the bar, so I politely asked if she has time, can she go by our table? We wanted her or any staff to clean out our table so we can order our dessert. No other staff was to be found. Instead of asking us what we want for dessert she was giving us our bill. Wow! Did she really want us to leave? After we placed our dessert order, she decided to crack open a window behind us, for what? 51F outside and very windy OMG! For this experience, I would recommend this place to my caucasian friends but to my "minority" friends, please don't tell me I didn't warn you. I hope this was just a fluke. This is a very nice and welcoming place just a few blocks from home. I've been there for apps at the bar and recently went for dinner with a date on a weekend evening. They were very accommodating, setting up a table with comfy seats in a spot near the window that I had requested. The food and service were mostly pretty good...no major complaints there. But we both picked wine from a list that had $12 glasses of wine, but ended up being charged $16 for each. I'm not sure why that was. Also, I chose the 'half rack of lamb' as an entree, but ended up getting several separate lamb chops. When I see 'rack of lamb', I expect to see a grouping of attached chops that have been cooked as a roast, not separate pieces. This was misleading and ultimately disappointing. read more

Don't let the two 1 star reviews written by the same couple deter you from this place. I can only say good things about it from start to finish. A warm greeting followed by great service and ambiance. This will be a regular spot for me in Nyack. Grilled octopus appetizer is served with fresh tomato, red onion, and arugula. Delicious flavor and perfect consistency. I ordered the rack of lamb based on the review left by that couple saying it was terrible and over cooked. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked PERFECTLY. Tender, juicy and flavorful. My friend ordered the shrimp and scallop risotto and as soon as she took a bite said "oh my god" because it was so good. The owner came to check on us himself to make sure the lamb was cooked to my liking and that the service was good. This was a wonderful and necessary addition to the Nyack restaurant scene. Food was so delicious and freshly made. The OWNER/CHEF was present and very friendly..,..Not enough is said about a CHEF who makes his own food and desserts as well!! I loved everything-Appetizers-Baked Clams def try!! Not like your typical dish. He definitely doesn't use much salt which allows you to appreciate GREAT TASTE! I never leave reviews but I love this place. The owner Sadik and his staff are warm and friendly. The food is consistently good. The restaurant decor is modern rustic. I love coming to Dolce Vita because I can sit at the bar and meet nice patrons while having a great meal. Sadik always comes over to greet me and he makes me feel special. I have so many favorite dishes, but I rave about their burgers. If you want to try something original, the filet mignon over humus is sooooo good. Try them all you won't be disappointed. read more

I loved the dish I had which was lamb stuffed cabbage. It was perfectly cooked with a touch of sweetness. If you love lamb you will love this dish. Had dinner here with my wife last night for the first time. Headed up to Nyack for date night because we are getting bored of the uninspiring places in bergen county. So glad we made the trip. Very friendly service, the chicken milanese was perfect with the crisp breaded chicken, moist inside, fresh arugula perfectly dressed. Seafood bouillabaisse was fresh flavorful and generous. The Turkish bread was served warm and crusty with pesto olive oil. Drinks were great too. We will be back this week with our family. Love it. read more

Just ate at Dolce Vita in nyack. Used to be O'Ds. Loved it. All 4 of us had excellent meals. I had braised short ribs in red win3 sauce. Paul had a fish sandwich. Crispy fried. Really good fingerling potatoes to die for chocolate mousse for dessert. Service was very good. Waitstaff was very nice, and very accommodating. Priced between expensive and fast food. Never been and will never go back... did not have our reservation and I had called twice on two different days! We were left standing around for 20 minutes after our reservation time, finally one of us asked about being seated and we were given a table. The mixed drink was weak, more ginger beer than vodka, and I wasn't the only one tasting no vodka. I had a pasta dish that came swimming in a gelatinous cream sauce that was absolutely inedible. One of our diners found a 5" piece of plastic in her meal, and we were served an espresso in a mug which they wanted us to believe was the cappuccino we had ordered, needless to say, never, never will I go back. The Red Snapper was mouth-watering, and the shrimp were so large, that I thought I was back in New Orleans. The music was transcendent. The bartender, Mychala (sorry if it's spelled incorrectly) was friendly and diligent. The crowd was welcomely diverse. The sounds and food mentally transported me to a Mediterranean restaurant and I had no alcohol to drink. The food is creative and exquisitely cooked. The chef and the staff are highly engaged. The problem is that Dolce Vita has a big bar crowd apparently left over from the previous Irish pub. The bar is long and intrudes into the dining area. The bar flies are noisey and do not respect the space of those who are there for fine dining. Dive bar or gourmet bistro? I went there with my co workers for some drinks and a nice meal. The food met all my expectations. Karen out waitress was very attentive. The Mediterranean platter was amazing. The hummus, eggplant (Babaganich) and taziki like sauce (Can't remember the actual name) was rich and think. All were homemade. The Turkish bread was semi soft and crispy at the same time. I had a the Angus burger and french fries. Fries were nice and crispy and not over seasoned. I have eaten here several times because of the ambiance and service. The food is a gamble. Some of the meals are great, some not so good. I ordered a Captain Morgan and coke.
