Really enjoyed this coffee shop when visiting DC! We tried the dulce de leche latte hot and iced. Both were delicious! We also got a crossiant, warmed that was so flaky and delicious! Staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs as we waited for the drinks! I also love the location of the shop! It's amidst of some expensive clothing places so it's always clean outside. The inside has a display of available gelatos and drinks! (Side note I tried a sampling of gelato that was AMAZING! I'll have to try that on my return). Was in the area for an event and wanted to try some sorbet, especially on such a hot day. It was a Saturday afternoon and there wasn't really a line at all to order. I got blueberry lavender (I think?). I know there was lavender in the name, but forgot to take a photo of their current menu, sorry! The second flavor was clementine. It took no time to get my order. I would say the quality of the sorbet was good, but nothing to rave about. It did fulfill my cravings for something refreshing, though. I think I prefer Pitango's sorbet and gelato, but I'm willing to try other flavors here in the future. I took off a star because there was a lack of seating available. Against one of the walls, you have to stand and eat. Maybe I am biased because I was walking and for 4 hours straight and was extremely tired, though. The gelato is yummy but the flavors might not be for everyone. We asked one of the staffers what one of the flavors tasted like and she was candid and said, "soap." So beware of flavors for picky eaters! The quality of the gelato is great and the price is very standard for most gelato places in the area! I live in CityCenter and Tatte and Dolcezza are both within the same distance of me. I usually go to Tatte daily but decided to give Dolcezza a shot. It's a very small place with a small table, a 10 seat communal high top, a few window seats, and a standing room area by the window. There is no comparison to Tatte in regards to ambiance as this place is very basic. A large Iced Coffee cost be over $8 (with $1.50 added for gratuity included) which comes to about $1 than Tatte. I think the size of the coffee is larger but $8 seems steep, as does $7 for an Iced Coffee. I was also the only one here whereas Tatte usually has a good flow of people. The service was fine as I was the only one here. Unless I'm in the mood for Gelato, I don't see myself returning as the vibe is just too basic and the seating is limited. read more

Place was pretty good. Moderately priced & amongst all the luxury shops was the best aspect of it. The sorbetto was better than the gelatin imho. They have gallons of milk in addition to the treats & even pints available to take home. I'm a big fan of Dolcezza gelato pints at Whole Foods, so going into the actual stores is always a treat to try their seasonal flavors and everything else! Hands down one of the best gelato spots to go to in DC! Also very accessible since there's multiple locations. Service here was good! Good spot that's open late. The interior is nice and bright and the staff is very friendly. The ice cream flavors looked interesting but I opted for the herbal tea. It was very good quality with full flower heads inside and not the usual ground up tea leaves like most places try to pass off as tea. I will say the only thing that was off putting was the family style seating so it's tough to have privacy in your conversation and even personal space if there are kids as well as the fact there are missing seat cushions on 3 chairs in the corner that made them unusable and remove seating options. read more

I was in the DC area for work and decided to stop by to try out some gelato! I got their sweet potato pecan praline and black sesame flavors. You can get 2 flavors with 1 small serving. These flavors definitely came through but I wish they were stronger? The texture of the gelato wasn't as smooth as I had hoped and still a little "icy" (kinda like having very mini ice chunks), which may have diluted the flavors? Their gelato also melted really fast in my mouth, further suggesting it was more ice than cream. Maybe I picked the wrong flavors or a wrong batch? Their gelato was decent, but unfortunately nothing stood out to me. The staff were nice but not the friendliest. I had asked to try several flavors and couldn't tell if the staff was annoyed or just tired? The store itself is pretty cute with black/white colors and tiled floors. I can only imagine a significant portion of their business comes as shows let out from the arena. That's when we popped in at nearly eleven at night and the line was nearly out the door. The staff is Quick, though, with espresso and gelato (and recommendations! They are all so sweet) So there was no real wait. We went ahead and got the large- which isn't terribly, but is less than a dollar for a third flavor and was a perfectly satisfying serving. Black sesame, swiss chocolate, mascarpone and fig, and the colada pastelito with guava we're all absolutely delicious. I only regret that we live too far away to take home a pint of the orange cardamom sorbetto or I would have. There are local baked goods as well. I'm a sucker for the buckwheat cakes, personally. They aren't terribly sweet and the nuttiness goes perfectly with the black sesame lattes for a treat that doesn't have quite so much sugar if you're not up to gelato. Here is what I think: Hot chocolate: The hot chocolate is usually spiced with a bit of cinnamon, which I really liked. The chocolate part is consistent. 9/10, subtracting a point for the portion. Iced teas: Consistent, not watered down. Really enjoyed their green tea, but it's not freshly brewed and they pour it from the tea jug that they have. Overall taste 7/10. Hazelnut ice cream: One of my favorite flavors. If you are a fan of hazelnuts, you will like the ice cream! 8/10. The Stracciatella was also very good, the bits in it made it very nice for texture and tasted good. The vanilla ice cream was for a safer pick and still managed to taste good.
