First, please note I am rating Dollar Tree on a different scale than I would use for...pretty much any other place. This is on the dollar tree scale. a five is "come in, get the two things I need, and leave in under 15 minutes." That is, literally, my expectation for a Dollar Tree. When I come here, I must prepare to enter a warzone. 1) there is stuff just everywhere. No one has ever put anything back on a shelf here. Ever. 2) Everything is dirty. Even the cleaning products are dirty. 3) If you are lucky enough to show up at a time when two people are working... one of the cash registers will be down. Every time. Honestly, it's my fault. I know better. I've been to this place half a dozen times, and it's a shitshow every time. Now, what is interesting is the thing that keeps me here way longer than I intended is never browsing; it's always some problem with the store, but every single time it's a novel problem. If I were asked to give notes on how to improve the store? I don't know where to start. Staff the store, update the technology at the cashiers, and put someone in charge. read more

Very rare that I visit this side of town on the other side of McCormick Blvd, especially to visit a Dollar Tree being that there are others near were I reside and work. I stopped in to this location to purchase some eye drops and essentials that I am low on prior to visiting Valli Produce. Now, I have to say that out of majority of the Dollar Tree locations I visit, this one is well-stocked and the aisles are always clean. The exterior and interior set-up pretty much matches any one of the other locations scattered throughout the city. There is plenty of parking, even though the lot coincides with several other stores in Evanston Plaza. In admist of the coronavirus (COVID 19) outbreak with toilet paper being an essential that most customers were purchasing, I was surprised that this location had a stocked shelf of it. But that wasn't what I purchased, I ended up purchasing some white bread, cereal, tissue, air wick aerosol, motts apple juice, applesauce, and cinnamon sugar. Now, it always boggles my mind that Dollar Tree has food items like white bread. And I personally haven't purchased any loaves of bread that were defected in any way being that it is Dollar Tree of all places. Moreover, I am always intrigued by the coffee cups with either Star Wars graphics or cute quotes pertaining to ones cat. Little things like that I look forward to with every visit because it enlightens my mood in the moment by giving me a chuckle what ever quote it may be. In closing, I had a pleasant experience shopping at this Dollar Tree location and would gladly return if I visit this side of town again. I am dumbfounded at how bad the customer service has gotten here. Last time it was a lady who was chit-chatting with employees in the back and took her sweet time coming to the front, only to be on her phone asking her friend about date night. Next time I come in this location, I dodge her completely and go to another cashier who is much friendlier. The line was longer, but it was worth it. Then I get ready to say something to the cashier, and THAT cashier is behind me in line. Still grumpy. Still snarky. No matter what I said to the friendlier cashier, she jumped in. I was relieved she wasn't there today and I saw another cashier. I hoped for the best. I get to the front. First thing I say is, "Hi, I don't need a bag." The cashier then IMMEDIATELY starts putting my stuff in a bag. I repeat that I didn't need a bag and she goes, "Oh yeah." Since she's already bagged everything, I ask her do I have to pay the $0.07 tax. She says no. I shrug and say she can keep it in there then. I mention that I don't need a bag because I have so many bags in my car. She says, "I understand." In the most harmless way of recommending Kohl's, I said, "Coincidentally, I'm going to Kohl's after this to donate a huge bag of bags, too." She slaps her hands on the counter, says "I understand" again and storms off to unpack boxes. This wouldn't have been up for discussion if she hadn't've bagged my stuff in the first place! I didn't even say it with malice. Some people don't know that Kohl's has a recycling bin to create filling for car seats, etc. I tell people this any time I get on the topic of plastic or recycling. What the hell is the process for interviewing? I came to this location off and on for a few years because someone I know lives nearby. I used to come in here all the time between 2019 to mid-2020, and everybody was cool. I don't know if this location got desperate for cashiers (guessing so considering there was a sign earlier this year that they'd hire someone the same day to get paid tomorrow), but my gawd, could you pick cashiers who can actually tolerate people? I'm tapping out. This location is convenient because of a pet store across the parking lot that I go to, but I almost want to peer into the window to see who is on what shift so I know if it's OK to go in. In my cashiering days, I'm sure I had bad days. But my gawd, I didn't storm off because somebody told me about recycling or feel like it was OK to talk to my friends on Bluetooth! Dirty. If you go bring wipes. The door is never cleaned, you can see the same distgusting hand prints and who knows what. Same thing goes for the carts.Last nite i wiped down the handle and there was some good stuck to it. The store is dirty. On 3 occasions they were closed beyond their opening time. 1 cashier and a line of people going almost back to the freezer. Be careful what u buy. White tuna isn't white. Actually I'm not sure what it is. They've raised their prices but cut down size. I won't be going back. read more

Dollar Tree! There's a lot of cool items here, although I'd say about 50% of the items are worth the price (greeting cards, soap holders...) and the other 50% you should just buy a slightly more expensive but much better quality item somewhere else. I thought it was a decent shopping experience. I bought a soap holder and some dish soap. It's cheaper than CVS, that's for sure. CVS usually charges 0.99 for a small bottle of dish soap but you can get a much larger one for $1 here. read more

I used to go to this Dollar Tree a lot for various storage, office and craft items. Hadn't been in several months. Went yesterday...It was HORRIBLE. Items literally strewn all over the floor, shelves disorganized, empty, looked dirty..in fact filthy...unkempt, unsafe. Shocking. Will not be frequenting this store anymore. I wonder if Dollar Tree Store corporate offices know about these issues. May write to them...they should know. read more

Yeah. Hell yeah. I get in and get out. Very nice staff and I get all the shit I need from candles to laundry supplies and so much more. I love this store although their frozen foods suck, but that's forgivable. This store is a no brainer for the thrifty, $1.00 for any item! read more

I've been meaning to visit this location since it opened up about a year ago.Stopped in today for screen wipes,and a usb cord.The store is large and well lit and had a good amount of items on the shelves.Hardly anyone there friday at noon when I visited which I loved;seeing that this location is in a strip mall it probably can get busy on weekends.Dollar tree made a good choice in opening this location;it only has room to grow. read more

Customer service needs some work here! Long lines are the norm. I've also had more than one check out clerk that have no idea what to do when a customer brings their own bags. I was told I put them in the wrong place (on the belt in front of my items). Another time, the checker just looked at me after scanning my items instead of bagging at all, once they looked at my bags. After bagging my own stuff, I had to ask them for my receipt. It's a shame because they have a great greeting card selection, and I like to get all my cleaners here because of price for what you get. read more

Just left this store. They have an employee by the name of Gloria that the higher ups should DEFINITELY have a chat with. She is THEE MOST blatantly RUDE cashier/customer service person I've ever seen. She was openly complaining in front of customers about the time she was getting off which was 3:30. She couldn't even hide the fact that she didn't want to check people out. I was getting in her line, when she looked up and seen me and I'm not exaggerating when I say, she slammed her close sign down on the belt and announced she was closed. Another customer got so frustrated she and her husband left the store. I went into the other line and waited and waited and waited. Tell me why Gloria decides to open her register back up right as I was about to finally check out?! This review is based more on the customer service of that employee, than the actual store. I'd be willing to alter the review should they have a talk with her or I come back and see a change in her demeanor. read more
