I haven't been here for a while so decided to visit. I ordered the milanesa steak. They make it really well. Have tried it before and it's just as good. They give you chips and salsa when you sit down. Arrived at like 4:00 pm so wasn't busy. After I sat down they started setting up tables and chairs for a large party. Re: service - two waiters stopped by four times to ask if we needed anything. The ambience here is quiet and the lights are low. They have a large bar and a few screens show sporting events. Free parking outside. I forgot. They serve hand made flour tortillas. Unusual to see those these days.

I visited with a friend who loves the chicken tortilla soup at the Don Cuco in Burbank, but we soon realized that there are two different chains(?) of Don Cuco, each with a number of locations. Unfortunately, this meant that the experience we had here was very different from what we were expecting. To be fair, we only tried a few things, so don't let that stop you from visiting, but here's my recap: 1) Azteca Tortilla Soup: my friend knew it wouldn't match up immediately. The odd white squiggles are sour cream, and you can see that the chicken is not what you'd expect in chicken tortilla soup. She ate it, but was absolutely disappointed and wouldn't recommend this. 2) Taco al pastor (a la carte): the seasoning was ok, but the meat was a bit tough. This taco was $7.50, and while the guac was a nice touch, my friend let me know that it was not tasty... she wasn't able to finish it. I would not be able to recommend getting this. :( 3) Hibiscus Margarita: this was solid! It was pretty strong and pretty sweet - I was happy to finish my drink. I would consider stopping in for a drink with some chips and salsa. The ambiance isn't bad, nor is the service, so I can see this being a decent spot to have a drink. Overall, I wouldn't be too optimistic about the food, but I would go for margaritas.

They have two salsas a spicy red - it had great flavor but was very spicy and a flavorful green mild salsa I took a seat and waited for my order. There are several tables to sit at and A TV with soccer playing. My order was done fairly quickly and packed very well. The tacos were all labeled The tacos were stuffed with meat. At other places I usually order four so that is what I got here but I was full after three! The rice and beans were very tasty as well. I reheated my fourth taco later that evening and it was still good I definitely want to go back and try the tortas and other items

The flavors were great, portions were generous, and everything came out fresh and delicious. The service was also outstanding. Our server, Leo, was very welcoming and made us feel comfortable from the start. Overall, the combination of great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a wonderful family dinner. I only saw a bar tender who doubled as a server, and one busman in the front of house. I don't know how many were in the back, but this explains why the wait was so very long. Once seated, it was another 15 minutes to get our orders in. Once the food arrived, it was served hot as expected. My friend's chicken chipotle was delicious but my birria wasn't great. There wasn't much of it, and what was there was largely tasteless. I was given two tortillas which wasn't enough. Their salsa was outstanding though! I wanted more of that and practically drank it. Unfortunately, given my experiences, I won't go back. Management needs to hire some employees so the wait won't be so long.

It's time for Taco Tuesday!…read more Every week, my wife and I decided to try a different place for Taco Tuesday. Last night I decided to try El Pato Mexican on Lyons Avenue in Newhall based off searching for Taco Tuesday. Even though my search showed that El Pato had Taco Tuesday, they did not. I almost left. However, I was committed and in search for the best Tuesday Tacos. Therefore, I ordered 6 Carne Asada street style tacos. The young lady at the register told me they put a few pinto beans on the taco, is that okay? I found out in Central Mexico (Mexico City) and parts of the north, I.e., Sonora & Chihuahua Mexico, this is part of the culture. The southern regions they tend to use black beans. Anyway, the young lady told me that they use the full size corn tortillas when in fact, they use the street style corn tortillas. Two out of my 4 tacos were loaded and the other two were very small and fatty. The first two were really tasty though. At $3.89 a piece plus tax = $4.27, it is way over priced for the value for a street taco. They even charge $11 for a basic Bean N Cheese Burrito. This is my ranking: Taste - *** Price/value - ** Service - ***** Cleanliness - **** Atmosphere - **** Respectfully, Taco man Wedo!

The place already had great reviews, so we figured we had to give it a try. I'm so glad we did! The gentleman who took our order was incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating from the moment we walked in. I also appreciated that they offer slightly lower pricing if you pay with cash. We all ended up ordering chilaquiles--one plate with green sauce and the other two with red sauce--and got our eggs over easy. Let me just say: these were hands down some of the best chilaquiles we've had in the area. The flavor, texture, and portion sizes were all top notch. I also loved that they have an open salsa bar along with complimentary chips for every order. Little touches like that really make the experience even better. There's also plenty of seating inside, and they have a restroom located in the back, which is always convenient when dining with kids. The ambiance is very casual and laid back, making it an easy and comfortable brunch spot. We'll absolutely be coming back again soon!

Plates here all are priced around $16-$20 a plate, with lots of different traditional flavors, and a host of specialty drinks with a full bar. It's not huge here, but it's one of the few bars in the area, and I would probably make it a staple given the cantinas in Newhall. I tried their sopes, which was 1 for $9.99 and was so friggin huge(I didn't even finish it), and the flavors were dialed in. Fresh and robust ingredients. Salsa was enjoyable too. I was initially craving a Michelada, which was what brought me here, and they happened to have the "Michelada Loka" which was pretty epic for $20. A Modelo and a Corona Michelada, upside down, in a large glass, adorned with shrimp, tajin, and chamoy. Totally my style, and reminds me of "Dos Pistolas" from "Los Originales" down the street, but I digress. I loved the drink but it was a bit pricey, but will definitely be back for it again. All in all, worth the $30 something bucks, I will be back, and if I was in my 20s I'd be here weekly. You should've try it if Hispanic bars are your thing. To each his own. Cheers'

There is a wide open space in the middle of the restaurant, which looked like there was room for a dance floor. They told us they don't get busy until later in the night, after 8pm due to the karaoke night. The burrito I ordered was good. Chips were average but they offered different salsas to try, even though they were served in little plastic, to go dipping cups. I thought that was a bit odd. But then all of my drinks were in plastic cups too, which I found a little disappointing. That tells me what kind of clientele they have there when it gets busy. Meh. There was very loud music playing inside. We asked to staff lower the volume and they did. There were two large TVs showing music videos. The service was decent, but it looked like there was only one waitress on duty so it was a little less than ideal. Take this for what you will.
