My family and I absolutely LOVE this place! The tortas have such soft bread which is essential for a great torta. The burritos are big, juice and filled with the perfect amount of meat. The 5 star reviews are legit. We were passing through from Temecula back home to Los Angeles and stopped here for lunch after reading the reviews. We were greeted by the friendly staff who recommended the wet chili verde burrito. It was fantastic. We also got the little sister salad with pollo asada, which was huge (!), and taquitos. Everything was excellent. Even the complimentary chips and salsa and rice and beans sides were delicious. The service was great and we also met some friendly locals and their sweet dog. Don Panchos is my new go to spot! Came in for the first time today to get some lunch to go. Carne Asada and Barbacoa tacos were fire!!! Barbacoa burrito was amazing and my kids loved their quesadilla! To top it off all of their salsas were delicious and their chips were the freshest I've ever had!!! I can't confirm because I didn't ask but I believe the owner was in there when I visited and he was very hands on and responsive as well which was awesome to see!!! I've never had a worse chicken enchilada. 0 Chicken and Carnitas Tacos, no flavor whatsoever it was just meat in a corn tortilla with pico de gallo sauce. 1 Carne Asada Taco, it's another flavorless taco but with no seasoned steak.1 Rice and Beans, this was only the eatable item on the plate. I didn't eat much of them only because the tacos and enchilada. 2 bites of each. 2.5 Customer Service was excellent. 5 I have an idea, drop some of the customer service and focus on the food. This is one of the best kept secrets in Wildomar. Came in on a taco Tuesday. Place was packed as any good place is. Was a 15 min wait...and I'm hypoglycemic so I panicked a bit. The owner got me chips and salsa while we waited which was a lifesaver and they were amazing. Then the tacos. Oh the tacos. Send me to an alternate state of being where for a moment I forgot about life for a while. This place is DELICIOUS!!!! The Chile Verde will change your life. I thought for a second I was rich and married to Taylor Swift. I realized that wasn't exactly reality when I walked out to my Ferrari and realized it was just a Honda. I love this place. My family does too. I miss dining here but still order take out from here. I have enjoyed every item I have tried from Don Poncho's. I usually get a carnitas plate or a enchiladas platter. I love their beef and their cheese enchiladas the best but their chicken enchiladas are also great. I prefer them all with green sauce. All of their fresh prepared salsas are fabulous. I also love their bean and cheese burrito with added rice. We have brought guests here as well and everyone always enjoys their meals. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. I am getting hungry for Don Ponchos as I write this review. Okay I have to say this is my second time coming here the first time like 2 years ago and it was a good experience, but today it was bad the menudo was okay, but the tortillas they tasted like the masa was going bad and they where undercooked, the tacos de lengua where so bad like the lengua was old, very dry because it has been reheat a couple of times, for $5.00 dollars a small street taco I would have expected a fresh delicious lengua and to top it up the horchata was sour and bad we did say something to the server and we got our horchata exchange for a limonada but nothing about the tacos we will not be going there. read more

Great "hole-in-the-wall" Mexican food place. I've ordered food to go from here during the pandemic a few times and have always been extremely pleased. The flavors and salsas are very authentic, even rivaling my own mom's (sorry mom!). As basic as it might seem, their rice and beans are stupid good. I could shovel down a pound of each. Well why has this gone from one of favorite spots to my NEVER go there again??? Simple being called a liar! Let me start off by saying, I know this is a different time we live in and things are being handled the best they can, BUT don't make me feel like I'm stupid and didn't understand you! I called at 6:20 pm, I ordered a California burrito with carnitas and beef flautas . I was on speaker phone, my husband listening, when the gentleman that answered stated, "ok there is a line out the door can you come in an hour and 10 minutes?". I said "sure". Got off the phone and told my husband I can run a few errands, make the most of the time out, and then pick up food. An hour and a half later I arrive and notice the line and figure that must be for on the spot orders. So I call and the same man answers the phone and I say, I ordered an hour and half ago is there a pick up line, he then says it's the line outside and it's going to be at least another 45 minute wait!!!! I then calmly told him, you said it would be ready, if I could come in an hour and ten minutes. You then LIE and say that's not what you said, I said yes you did, why would I place a to go order to wait an hour and ten minutes then go to the restaurant and wait another 45 minutes? You then said that's not what you said! I then called my husband and asked him how the call went and he confirmed that you said there was a line out the door can you come in an hour and ten minutes! I NEVER wish ill will, and obviously my tiny order won't matter, BUT I am sad to say that a local business that we've frequented A LOT, recommended friends and family to go to had such disrespectful service. When everything is back to normal, or maybe when it's not, I hope you remember this and understand that it's not about the right now, it's about return business! Those of you who follow me know I rarely give low scores. I have been to this place more than 10 times. This place is a family owned business. The food is good in general but there are reasons why I am giving them a low score. 1) Customer service is important to me and if I have any complaints it either goes to the owner or the daughter and they are not friendly. Eyes will roll if you complain, which makes you feel unimportant as a customer. I am always courteous when I have a concern. 2) Went to Taco Tuesday with 4 friends. Immediately we noticed the carne Asada's was most likely not the same meat they use during the week. It's tough and chewy. During the week, the carne Asada in their taco is delicious but of course you pay double the price. 3) They do charge way too much for a mom and pap store. I asked for a small side of guacamole and it was like $3 something for like 8oz. If you buy a big order to go and ask for salsa to go, they give you the smallest container possible. Also like a other reviewer said, hidden fees to fry your tacos. They just need to be upfront about extra costs for additions. So don't assume friends. So overall, if you enjoy good food and don't mind paying more money for it and dont care too much for customer service then this is your place bc their food overall is great except for taco Tuesday. If you are like me that enjoys good food, don't mind paying higher prices but values great customer services where you can call the owner by first name, this is not the place. I personally would not return because there are so many other places with good people and good food out there. In today's environment, it's nice if people are more friendly and kind to each other. read more
