We were headed to our typical Mexican ace when we realized it had already passed closing time. Checked what was in the area and came across this gem. Ordered Asada Fries for my wife and daughter, Colorado wet burrito for myself and AL Pastor tacos to try them out. The burrito was huge and full of flavor. The fries were a hit. They added beans to the mix which my wife said that them over the top. The tacos were our favorites. We can't wait to go back. My daughter walked in and took one smell and said if it's smells this good I can't wait to see how it tastes. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor dining. Dodger game was playing in the background. Place isn't huge, but has a great welcoming feel. read more

Don't bother! I used to like this place! The other day I called in an order and got put on hold and hung up after a few minutes. Called back and told the girl I was holding and got forgotten, no apology, just "ok, what you want?" I ordered two burritos and told 15-20 minutes. I get there in about 25 minutes and they haven't made my order yet. I wait another 5-10 minutes. Then, I get home and the burritos don't even have cheese in them! Isn't that a staple in Mexican food?! Plus, the burritos were $9 each! I could go down the street and get better burritos for half the price! Sorry Don Panchos, you lost my business! read more

Came for dinner with DH to try a "new" place. I knew it looked familiar! Maybe this place is hit and miss or perhaps they've changed things, but this time we really, really liked it. Great service and DELICIOUS, flavorful food. Sometimes Mexican food can be lacking in flavor at some places, but this was excellent, including the chips and salsa. Been to this location a few times and am always pleased with the service and food. Love, love, love the carne asada tacos and asada fries. Tried the don pocho cali burrito and regular cali burrito this last time. Definitely liked the don poncho version better. Only been here once but the food was good. Went with a group of people. Most got tacos. Everyone seemed pleased with what they got. I agree with one of the reviews the salsa bar was not great but at the same time most "Americans" don't want super spicy food. The chips were warm & fresh. Maybe because our group was eating so much. So they had to keep making them. If you want spicy, flavorful salsa ask. They brought out 2 from the kitchen and not sure what it was but it was delicious. Flavorful and spicy. Only 3 of us ate it as it was too spicy for the rest of the group. Definitely will go again whenever I'm in that area. read more

This place is &$*%ing awesome. Traveled all over the US (NY to LA) and Mexico and the flavors even in just the regular rice that comes with your entree tells you these people love their food. Barbacoa, al pastor (crispy and without pineapple), and chorizo tacos were my of the favorite of the tacos we tried in that order. Chile rellenos, the most often botched dish in these kinds of places were full of flavor and not a soggy mess. Enchiladas were such a surprise, since i hate enchiladas normally, but i could not stop stealing bites from my sisters plate. Almost wish i got these instead of the tacos! At the risk of contradicting so many 5 Stars reviews, I must say that our visit today to Don Pancho's was not the magical 5 stars we were led to believe. I can appreciate the high grades, but since food in general is not judged by anything more than taste, I find it doubtful that this place deserves 5 stars. Food ordered: 2 Large Albóndigas Soup, 8.98? Only the seriously ethnic Mexican places present this soup on their menu. One in every ten, perhaps. Don Pancho's offered not one kind, but three: beef, chicken and albondigas. The fact that those three offerings probably share the same broth, is another matter. The albóndigas (Mexican style meatballs) were small, easy to eat, and plentiful. Carrots, Zucchini, badly done Potatoes, Cilantro, Onions, Limes, Corn Tortillas, all in a mild broth that was not unappetizing, and kudos for what appeared a freshly made, thicker than most, corn tortillas. Now, that it took a dismal long time to arrive, indicated that perhaps the selection is not very popular, but the fact they make, counts. 4 Stars. Fish Taco, $2.99. Nothing to scream at the sea about. Seen and tasted better, but edible never the less, with it's fair amount of fresh cabbage, and an orange sauce that did not impress. 3 Stars. Chips were free and nice. Salsa decent, but certainly no top contender. Water, surprisingly acceptable, no dubious after taste. Tried a small amount of a couple of their salsas. I basically just went to their small salsa bar, was I supposed to? Average tasting. Service at the hands of an almost do it all young man was slow, infuriatingly so, but his demeanor entirely professional, where you got to like him regardless. There is nothing like a good bowl of menudo on the weekend and Don Pancho's offers a GREAT menudo! Also tried the chilaqules with green sauce and asked them to deliver the heat, which they did. Tried this place for the first time today and it was awesome. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. The owner introduced himself and was extremely friendly. He told us that they use high quality meats and season and marinade everything themselves. I ordered 3 tacos: 1 al pastor, 1 carne asada, and 1 carnitas. All 3 were excellent, but my favorite was the carne asada but the al pastor was also awesome. Chips and salsa were super fresh and tasty as well. DH had the chile verde burrito and it was delicious. Our 4 year old son gobbled up everything too! DH asked about spicy salsa and got a special habanero salsa from the kitchen. Spicy but very good. Great place for lunch or dinner. I like the food but service is not great. Good food but slow and inconsistent service. First time they messed up my burritos by putting onions in them. Second visit was okay, menudo was good but I have had better in this area. Third time we'll, ordering took twenty minutes and we waited for coffee and tea a few minutes. Order was delivered after thirty minutes waiting and others were served before us. My husband went up to ask for our order because the waiter was rarely by the tables. Coffee was not refilled enough and food took too long, so good luck and I hope owner will read this. read more

Try the cochinita in particular; no one even makes it near us and even if they did, it probably wouldn't be as good. read more
