The service was terrible here and the drinks where overpriced for poor drinks. I saw a little girl at the bar playing with all the straws that they use for drinks. She was putting her hands all over them and putting them back in, while the dad stood next to her not doing anything about it. Mexican spot that's AOK - not our favorite but it's our go to if we are in the area. We've had some fantastic meals here and some duds. Their drink list is a little excessive; I recommend going for the simple house margarita which has always been solid. Service is usually good and one thing I like about this spot is the layout of the space that makes it feel a bit more cozy and homey than most other restaurants around town. Only once have I manage to nab the fun table near the bar. Definitely a place I'll be back to as I'm often in this area, but I wish for more consistency from visit to visit. read more

Solid all around experience. Service was good, drinks were cold and the food was excellent. The trio chip appetizer is a must, great options with guacamole and two kinds of queso. We were a table of 4 and we had a fabulous time. Our order for the table was a chicken chimichanga, Tex Mex combo platter, chicken bowl and I had a delicious chili relleno with brisket, which sadly they left the raisins & nuts off. I went here one weeknight for dinner with my roommate. We got the Pepe's Trio Chips and Dip $15.00 to share and try a few different apps. It comes with Guacamole, Yellow Queso and White Queso. The guac was good taste wise and still semi chunky which I did not mind, I personally do not like tomatoes in my guac which theirs has some on top. Both of their queso's were meh, kind of watery and flavorless. Their chips are good, nice and crunchy. Their salsa is not spicy at all but tasty we put it in both queso's to give it some flavor. I would skip both queso's though as they are not worth it. I got the Beef Quesadillas $16.50 which I was glad to see the outside was actually crispy instead of just soft like most places. The beef inside was tender and juicy. It comes with quite a few pieces, I took 2 of them home as I could not finish the whole thing. I did get to try a bite of the Potosinas Enchiladas with Beef, basically cheese and onion enchiladas with beef on top, this was pretty good as well. I tried their rice and beans which were both fine, generic but nothing special. Didn't catch our servers name but they serve pretty quickly and are on top of refills. I would skip the apps but they have some legit entrees. I will have to try their beef fajitas when I go back as that was my favorite part! read more

Don Pepe's is all around great. Nestled at the back of the Hillcrest Village Shopping Center, it has ample indoor as well as outdoor dining options. The food is a good value for the price. I have yet to try something here that isn't great. Try the queso blanco for starters or the bean soup. The service is friendly and attentive. Every time we come here, we get prompt service and are seated quickly. However, the last time we were here, it was pretty packed, so to be on the safe side, I'll start to place reservations. I need to come here more often. Spacious atmosphere both inside and on the large patio overlooking the park. Service by Jairo was exceptional. He anticipated our every need and made sure all was right. Started with table side guacamole. Jairo made it for us and we loved it. Just a note that they do not include serrano or jalapeno peppers in their guacamole. You have to ask for them special. Steak tacos were fantastic and I highly recommend. Eventually I will have to try something else. We were both a bit disappointed in their refried beans. They may have been, but did not really seem/taste homemade. Don Pepe's Rancho Mexican Restaurant was a good spot for a mid day lunch. It wasn't busy and the prices wasn't too bad . Nice local Tex-mex with a "hole-in-the-wall" feel. The patio overlooks a green space and kids playground. I got the shrimp enchiladas . This had to have been the best shrimp enchiladas I have ever had. I wanted to order another one but the person in my head said not today and that portion control is important these days. First visit to the new location and that in itself is a huge improvement. This location is spacious and wide open. The food was good, I went with the enchilada special of two , one cheese and one beef. Both were good but I did load the whole meal with extra hot salsa. I also ordered the meltdown margarita and it was sweet but packed a punch. We were seated at the bar area table so we did have to hunt down the server as she was also the bartender. I went here for a birthday party and as large as our party (30+ people including kids) was, they were still able to accommodate all of us. Service was exceptional and I was pretty impressed that they were able to cater to all of us. We were served Chips + Salsa + Guacamole + Queso. Our entire table grabbed margaritas for the most part and I grabbed a La Paleta. I also ordered the Mole Poblano Enchiladas. The chips and salsa were pretty typical. We ordered a spicy salsa for a small subsection of our group and it was actually spicy so it added a nice touch. The queso wasn't anything special. The guacamole was served in a large granite mortar and pestle so I was hoping it would have a little more spice. The La Paleta grabbed my attention because of all the different fruit liquors that were mixed in. It had a chamoy rim which made it even more delicious. I don't have mole often and this was nice. There was an appropriate amount of sweetness from the mole; the chicken wasn't as juicy. The black beans and rice were good. read more

We're so happy Don Pepe's came back! We really missed them when they were closed from the previous Coit/Arapaho and trying to find a new location nearby. So glad they landed at the intersection of Arapaho/Hillcrest! The atmosphere, the friendly servers and the great food is just as we always enjoyed it. We attended the soft opening at the beginning of December, 2021 and have enjoyed our favorites ever since. Some of our favorites are: the flautas, beef enchiladas and our all-time favorite "the Cruzero" which is two chicken sour cream enchiladas, a side of Mexican rice and one crispy beef taco. There is usually enough for splitting or to have leftovers for another meal. Ordering an online meal on their website is easy. I didn't use the clover app they mention but instead checked out as a guest. Picking up the online order is easy peasy. Yummy food!!! read more

This is one of my wife's and my favorite date night spots! It's right by so many great spots (want to do trivia? Go next door! Want some macarons for dessert? Go two doors down!) Great service, good food, and a really really really ginormous and strong frozen margarita. It's a margarita for giants really. But I'm not complaining! I've told so many people how great this place is that almost every time I'm in, I run into someone I know. Nothing more to say other than this place is THE BEST. I eat here at least once a week, if not more. My personal faves (and I'm a simpleton when it comes to Mexican food): white queso, beef fajitas, table side guacamole. cheese enchiladas and the tortilla soup is the best I've ever had. This is a bit of a mixed bag. I moved in across the street about 7 months ago. This was my first visit and I invited a friend. She had the pick 2. She was very happy with her dinner. I really wanted to love mine. I thought it was a beautifully composed dish. But the flavor just wasn't there on the Diablo shrimp. Frankly, I got more tomato sauce than Diablo. The other sauce was good. Could have been a touch less sweet, but the real sin was how cold my dish was. This sauce would have been a lot better had I had a hot dish. It was all nearly cold. I regret not sending it back. But I'd had a very long day and had to go back to my home office to take a client call. I wasn't up for fussing over the food. I'll go back and give it another try, but I'll start off with something more basic Tex-Mex to start. The salsa was pretty good. Queso, was ok. Sunday brunch.....? We decided on Don Pepe's. Arrived with great expectations.... We were NOT disappointed! Great food, service and atmosphere. Wife ordered Chicken Flautas: Beautifully presented with delicious Guacamole and freshly made rice. Add fresh salsa, chips and tea and she was smiling the whole time. I decided on Machaca con Huevos: Again beautifully presented with a wonderful flavor & texture served with piping hot flour tortillas. Add freshly made coffee and a fiery side of hot sauce served by an attentive waitress. (Gabriela) and you have a perfect Sunday Brunch experience!
