Dona Arepa is a women-owned business- newly situated in Boca after their og location has been a PBC staple for so long. The mini grocery part has a lot of directly imported snacks and a lot of pre-made frozen items to take home. I purchase spinach arepas and regular arepas from this section to bring home, and some chocolate cookies from the imported snacks, and ordered an arepa for myself (can't resist! so good!). There are several tables and chairs next to the storefront window- a nice spot for working or hanging, both of which I have done here before. Big fan of their arepas and táquenos! I've never seen such variety of arepas options, we tried the La chevere (chorizo jalapeño and cheese), La sifrina (pulled chicken cheese and avocado mayo), and La llanera (steak avocado cheese and tomato). I also decided to check out some of the frozen options. I've never had Marquesa but I LOVED it, I would describe it as a frozen layered desert, somewhere in between ice cream and tiramisu. Definitely would get again. I also bought some frozen precooked táquenos but haven't tried them yet. Inside there is a seating section and a market section. Overall expect to get really good food, downside is it's not fast (about 10-15 minute wait) and it's not "cheap". read more

Not sure if it's because we're not from Venezuela but we were ignored. Not refilled on water. We asked for utensils since there were none on the table. After the food was out we asked again and were given 2 for 3 people. The serving were large but there wasn't much flavor. Both the pork and chicken were dry. Would not recommend especially for the price. read more

I'm in town visiting some friend and I was looking for Venezuelan food, found this place through a google search and headed there for breakfast. They have a large variety of Venezuelan dishes. Food was fresh, delicious and well made. The staff is very friendly and we were greeted as soon as we got there. Service was fast and the restaurant looks very clean and organized. They even have a small "market" area where you can buy a variety of Venezuelan treats including fresh cheese and other frozen meals. Very pleased with my experience at this place. read more

I was excited to see this place opened up in LA and checked it out with my friend. We shared the cachapitas con queso which were delicious. It was my first time having them and my friend, who is half Venezuelan approved. I also got the la llanera arepa which was very tasty. The arepas look small but I was pretty full after the meal. Tucked away in the corner of an unassuming Boca Raton strip mall, I found Dona Arepa after a colleague convinced me to try it for lunch last week. It was so good, I brought my wife back to try some other delectable menu items. Upon entering, the right hand side offers localized South American imported foods for sale. The left is the restaurant section- sparsely decorated but everything you need to eat in. The joint has only been open for 6 months but there was a steady stream of clients coming in which is a good sign. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. We ordered and the food was freshly prepared and served within 10 mins or less. My wife and I enjoyed our choices and will be back to try more from their large menu. read more

In 7 minutes it will be one hour since I ordered tequenos. My arepa took over 50 Minutes. I've asked the gentleman with glasses multiple times for the tequenos. I love CACHAPAS! Living in Boca Raton I usually would drive all the way to Miami to get a really good one. That is no longer necessary since Dona Arepa opened. This was one of the best homemade Cachapas I ever had. My only regret was that I was too full to order anything else. The entire menu sounded delicious. I will definitely be back to try other items. I really wanted to love this place, but I left feeling a bit "meh." The food was good, and I appreciated that they offer frozen items you can take home. While I didn't try any of the frozen foods during this visit, I'll definitely be back to give them a shot soon. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. When I arrived, the restaurant was empty, yet there were no greetings--no "hello" or "good morning" from the staff. They were sitting behind the counter on their phones, and I had to approach them for a menu. I ordered a couple of items to-go, but there was very little interaction after that. No one communicated when my order would be ready, and I had no idea if they were even preparing it. While it's not a huge deal, a little more friendliness and communication would go a long way. I'll give it another try on a weekend, as I really want to love this place. There aren't many Venezuelan options in Boca, and I'd love to make this a regular spot if the service improves. read more

We went into this place a couple of days ago for the first time. We wouldn't go back. Here's why: 1. There were several people behind the counter, but no one came over to us for several minutes until a manager (we guess) told the other two young ladies to please give us some service. 2. When we were finally asked about our order at the counter, we were told we didn't order at the counter except for take-out, and that we had to wait for table service. There is no way to know this, and no signage to indicate this; so, we waited about 10 minutes longer than we needed to. 3. Last, and most important, once we were seated and right after we had just ordered, we saw a toddler of about three years old running into the kitchen, obviously the son of someone who works there. That is a health code and safety violation. Children should not be in kitchens where food is being prepared for the public. People will get very sick as children are not required to take the same safety precautions as trained employees, and we know kids drool on, cough on, sneeze on, and touch everything. In addition, there are hot plates, pans and sharp tools in a kitchen. Toddlers and young children do not belong in the kitchen of a restaurant. Once we saw the toddler in the kitchen, we canceled our order and left. That is just not right to allow a toddler to run around a restaurant and a kitchen. read more
