    Acai Nutella Bowl

Forget the restaurant chains in downtown Delray Beach. Head south down SE 5th Avenue for the best empanadas in the area. My wife, eight-year-old daughter, and I went on a Saturday morning in July. Here's our experience. 1) Food: The owner Allen makes fresh Argentinian empanadas in 12 flavors, including a vegan option and sweet one. The savory empanadas range from classic to more American inspired like the Cheeseburger Empanada. We ordered the Carne Empanada and Spicy BBQ Pork Empanada. Both were excellent- full of flavor, fresh, and so good. We ended up ordering an extra Carne one because our daughter loved it too. They also sell smoothies and acai bowls. We all enjoyed the Acai Nutella Bowl with raspberries, bananas, and more. (Ask for extra spoons to share.) 2) Drinks: They sell coffee drinks like lattes and cafe con leche and Coca-Cola products. Three kinds of beers are on the menu too. 3) Service: Allen runs the entire shop. He's kind and passionate about the business he's building for his family. Food comes out quickly. 4) Space: Inside a tiny space within a building with local shops and murals, The Gringo comes with a tiny window where you order. A few picnic tables are nearby with umbrellas for shade. So far, The Gringo is the best food experience we've had in Delray Beach!

5 Stars for fantastic Argentinian empanadas at a quick and casual location. We found The Gringo on Yelp when in the Delray Beach area and pulled up to the order window. There is no indoor seating, but there's really pleasant picnic table seating outside with music playing and shade. We ordered directly with the owner, who was super friendly and helped us make our decisions. I love a baked empanada (as opposed to fried), and so we got the following flavors: De messi Carne Vegan Truffle Mac & cheese The stars were the carne and truffle Mac and cheese flavors. Some of them come topped with chimichurri, and the vegan comes topped with tomatillo. The pastry was great and we finished every bite! They have a bathroom, but it's around the corner through a red door (you'll think you're entering someone's apartment, but trust the process lol). Overall, we're big fans!

I came here from reading the other yelp reviews! I came to Stuart Fl to visit for the weekend (my sister) So on my way to the airport in Fort Lauderdale, stopped at the Gringo. The empanadas are FANTASTIC. The pork was juicy and with a slightly sweet spicy taste .. mmm. Then the Mac n Cheese empanada OMG if you like a gooey cheese Mac n cheese this your place. The vibe is chill! And the patio with beach seating. Reggae music playing in the background just set the scene. Ordering is easy. Go to the window pick out your empanada or pick a combo (recommended) and have a seat. Everything is made FRESH. In a few minutes you'll have a new favorite spot. Two empanadas is enough to fill you. And the hospitality is great. No more rambling gotta catch a flight!!

Each were flaky, crispy, well seasoned beef and own distinctive flavor! Only critique was chimmicuri is a bit overpowering but still good!

Was exploring the Delray area today and thought what wouldn't be better than grabbing some fresh made empanadas at The Gringo. Going in, there was very limited parking available up front so I walked a block or two down the street. For lunch, I just ordered 1x Messi empanada (minced steak, sautéed onions, red peppers, and cheese) and 1x original beef empanada (ground beef, onions, olives, seasoning). Moving on with my review; these empanadas were pretty awesome! Each were flaky, crispy, possessed well seasoned beef and had their own distinctive flavor! Only critique was that the chimmicuri was a bit overpowering on top and might've preferred this on the side. Despite my criticism, the owner was super friendly and the empanadas were very fresh. Final verdict 4/5 stars!

Tried the Messi, chipotle chicken, and truffle empanadas. They were all average, not as good as I expected. I like that they're baked but they weren't crispy enough. Sauce was no big deal and insanely small.

Catering experts! I was celebrating my daughter's 1st bday and the first please that came to my mind to have empanadas was from The Gringo. The crazy things is that I've never had them before, I was going off the reviews and the great things people were saying about them. I ordered the small party platter which includes 30 empanadas with 3 flavors to choose from & 5 of their sweet lovers empanada. I got the buffalo chicken, carne & De Messi empanada, also a side of chimichurri sauce with my order. FYI You get free delivery on order $30 or more within 5 miles. Having bday party to get ready to it was the best idea to order delivery. You can pick the date and time of the delivery and let me tell you they were on time to the dot! Let's talk about flavors!!! Omg they were all so delicious everyone at the party loved the empanadas, they were light and filled with a lot ALOT of meat. If you have leftovers just pop them in the microwave or in the air fryer and done! I seriously can't wait to try the other flavors.

Visited The Gringo after multiple Instagram foodie videos, and I can say it lived up to its standard. Looked in Delray Beach in a cute little shopping plaza. You can either order to go or they have outdoor seating. We ordered the empanada platter with 5 empanadas and I can say they did not disappoint. They have different "flavors" to choose from steering away from the very traditional empanadas you find at any local bakery. We had the truffle mac and cheese, birria, buffalo chicken, the Cuban & spicy pork. All were truly amazing, and filled with flavor!! They also have açaí bowls, & smoothies to choose from which I will be going back to try. Service was good, it's just a little order window so don't expect a full bakery service experience. Just make your way there for the empanadas.

Front of The Gringo. So perfect for any time of day.

Definitely OPEN late now. So quaint and delicious. So far my favourite is gonna be the buffalo chicken. Seriously up and coming and way better than downtown. The vibe is here is a little setting in an other country. I'm a huge fan. Service super inviting.

Literally a hole in the wall, but GREAT! A wide selection of empanadas that are made fresh to order and Baked Delicious smoothies made from scratch I will return, strongly recommend !!

Such a cute breakfast/lunch/snack stop. You order at a window and your food is ready within a few minutes. Only tried a few empanadas but all were delicious, I look forward to coming back and trying the whole menu! Parking is very minimal but easy to get in and out of.

We are lucky enough to live close by The Gringo, so we've been a few times and they never disappoint!! Food is great every single time, we've tried a few different menu items and you can't go wrong with any of them. The people are so friendly too! A great spot!

The Combo number 3 topped with "De Messi" empanada.

I drove AN hour from my city to come here. I must say! The taste is astounding and well worth the drive on a cheat day. If you are a foodie and love a nice beat close to the beach!!! Please check them out service: MY GUY AT THE COUNTER! Gracious. Patient and accepting of all visitors! Make sure to drop him a tip when you visit! They work hard and are deserving of every dollar.

    BREAKFAST EGG BURRITO (Until 11am)
    Erin Clarke G.

Quality fresh food, prepared to-order, with care and cleanliness and kindness, at a charming roadside spot with picnic tables -- convenient but also inviting. The famous empanadas are also sold at several top quality food shops -- but can be ordered one or three or 20 at a time. My favorite is the breakfast burrito. My daughter loves the açaí bowl. My son and husband won't try anything but the traffic stopping empanadas; allegedly: life is too short for a single bite of anything less perfect. The Gringo is a treasure. We've only ever met one man who works there and he is The Coolest Dude.

The five shrimp were poached and served cold. The sauce was slightly sweet. And although there were a lot of chopped onions in it, they were not strong or overpowering. And I liked that their version of the sauce was without mayonnaise. Along with the cocktail came some warm thin slices of fried plantains -- bigger than chips but smaller than chunks. The plantains were a nice accompaniment. I had a beef empanada after the shrimp cocktail. And added a side order of thin and crispy french fries. The empanada was just okay. My husband had their perro combo -- a hot dog Latin American style. The hot dog was in a bun and was covered with bacon, cheese, pink sauce, ketchup, quail eggs, pineapple sauce, and potato sticks. Our soup the first time was a special. Pumpkin soup right before Halloween. It's a huge bowl and I mean huge not large. It was served hot as requested but was delicious. Our sit down meal was a breaded chicken breast with three - yes - 3 sides! The mashed potatoes were creamy. The yucca was boiled and delicious. We also had a mini chicken empanada in a corn outer. It had a touch of sweetness and was a treat for my tastebuds. I had the broiled salmon in their special sauce. The salmon was prepared closer to well done than any other heat and it was as requested. I'll order that again. Our eyes were bigger than our tummy's because when the chicken soup and veggies came, we asked that it be wrapped to go. There was a 1/4 chicken wing and foot in the container. Again, oversized. At $20+ it could be considered pricey. But once you saw how many ingredients there were and that think of chicken you're feeling it was worth it. We will return without question.
