Wow! What a gem of a find! If traveling on I-90 and looking for a spot to eat, check this family friendly Irish pub a go. The husband put the cheeseburger on sourdough in his Top 5 burger best list, my picky eaters lived the grilled cheese and steak fries, and with my celiac issues I was pleasantly surprised by the massive street taco options. The 585 taco is a corn tortilla with cheddar cheese grilled to it so you get this crunch with every bite. Also the fish tacos are grilled - such a delight. The servers were very friendly and the atmosphere reminiscent of the wild Wild West days of mining in Montana with all the historical large prints tastefully adorning the walls. Stopped in for a second time at Donivans. This place is a gem, if you're anywhere near Anaconda stop in here, you won't be sorry. The decor is so fun, the bar is amazing, our food was perfectly cooked. We had the clams appetizer, which was lovely and then broth the clams come in is so delicious when you soak your bread in it. The garlic parm fries are really just parm fries but there's a TON of Parmesan cheese on them. Our sirloin was cooked perfectly and our drinks were never empty. 100% recommend. read more

I love the copper ceiling, fitting that was a big mineral mined in the area. A pic of the same photo of Marcus Daly that we saw at the Anaconda smoke stack state park commemoration circle. Cody is waiting on us. We figured we should eat in town one more time. We started off with the half order chicken nacho, taco trio: 2 fish, firecracker shrimp, no blackened cedar plank salmon, since Cody informed us they are out of salmon. Salmon was sadly the only entree I wanted here. Regretting coming here all of a sudden. I was going to get a half order of chicken tender with BBQ as my consolation prize, but decided to go for the fish and chips instead and upgraded to the garlic Parmesan fries, since I wasn't really feeling the chicken tender either. I got a side salad with balsamic. We ordered an artichoke dip with corn choos I can't believe they charge $17 for onion rings here, they looked like big puffy rings here too, not my favorite. I asked if Cody could make sure the chef makes my fish and chips as nicely as expected for me today. The artichoke and spinach dip has mostly spinach in it, we weren't able to find much trace of artichoke unless it was pulverized and ground up. The chicken nachos were okay, the best part was the chicken. They ran out of olives and the pepper Jack cheese had to kick to it at all. The chicken was the showcase of the nachos, it was flavorful and moist. The pepper Jack cheese were chunks and was way too thick, it would have been better as shredded cheese. The fish was crispy and crunchy and the fish was moist and flaky, perfectly cooked and breaded. The upgraded Parmesan fries was a bad call, they were soggy and mushy and flavorless. We ate 3 soggy fries and were done with the rest. I asked them to remove the upgrade since the fries were so bad. The side salad was okay, the balsamic dressing didn't look dark enough to be balsamic to me and tasted more like sweet Italian dressing instead. Cody took good care of us tonight, despite having a large party table by us. Service wasn't too bad. The fish chips are yummy here as was the chicken on the nachos. Our meal was $61. Had a lovely dinner served by our lovely server Megan. Nice place, warm, traditional decor wood, high decorated ceilings, old pictures, old burgundy booths. We order Caesar salad with shrimp, pasty, and fish street tacos all to share. Greens were fresh and crispy, shrimp tasty, and very generous serving. I enjoyed the tacos, liked very much that was grilled fish and not battered-fried. My husband was lukewarm about the tacos. Pasty was good, from the bakery across the street Wind's. Ordered a drink and the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and brown gravy and vegetable of the day. Drink was simple so way over priced at $13.50. Mashed potatoes were ok. Can't mess them up. Chicken fried steak had been run thru the tenderizer a few too many times and was unrecognizable. Brown gravy was made from a powdered mix and not homemade and very salty. Vegetable of the day is frozen stems out of a bag that may have been left overs or microwaved to mush. Just plain slop. Mentioned it to the waitress and she said she would let them know to change them out! What does that mean? For next weeks left overs?! No apologies and then got an attitude from her. My eggs Benedict was cooked properly, but the English muffin was not toasted and was like glue. We waited 20 minutes for our waitress to return but never saw her again. Avoid this place. The server took our order without writing it down and then apparently forgot it. At 35 minutes we tried to wave her over to our table to ask what happened - people who arrived after us had been served - and she skillfully avoided eye contact with us even though she had to pass near our table in a mostly empty restaurant. We tracked her down in the kitchen and she could not remember our order or what had happened to it. Realizing lunch was going to be an hour wait we decided to cut our losses and go. As we walked to the door this waitress shouted "have a nice day! Have a nice day!" Service at Donivan's was a colossal fail. If you take the waitress's advice about having a nice day, then you will try a different restaurant in Anaconda. read more

Beyond Disappointed! Visited here Sunday sept 4,2022 Waited 90 minutes for our food. Really! Really! The kicker is that after 88 minutes of waiting for food we were told that half of the food we ordered was simply NOT available! And....the pork cutlet sandwich we did get was over fried, dry....and the fries were we're not hot, not even warm. It sucked so bad. As we left, we told all 12 people in line of our awful experience and they all walked away. That was at least 5 tables they did not get a chance to make angry. Just don't do it! Don't go. Waited 1 hour with kids without any food or check-in by waitress Robin. Drink order wasn't taken, wrong order was given (and she blend us), and she appeared frustrated with our frustration (?). In addition, she and another older short haired brunette waitress that was wearing glasses were openly discussing their own complaints about our table. Very unprofessional and rude. On the bright side another younger waitress was nice enough to step in to help us with little things while the other ladies were busy talking. We almost left because our kids were so hungry. Just as we were walking out our plates were being served so we decided to stay and let the kids eat. This was our last day in Montana and we ended up missing a tourist appointment because of the poor service. I most certainly will never come here again when visiting this state. It was definitely a bummer because we saved the restaurant to make our last breakfast special since it was raved so much about. While staying here on business, I decided to try Donivan's. I usually don't go out to eat because I have a lot of food issues due to chronic inflammation, so I stay away from soy, grains, legumes, sugar, corn, dairy, and artificial sweeteners. The sugar, soy, and corn make it tough to eat out because everything is cooked in canola or soybean oil. I let our server Cassandra know upfront that I was probably going to be one of "those people" and ask a bunch of questions and that I was super sorry. She said it was no problem and answered all my questions with patience and competence! She even knew things that most servers typically have to ask the kitchen about, like that the baked potatoes had vegetable oil, and she knew exactly how the caramelized onions were cooked. I don't mind when servers have to ask the kitchen staff, but Cassandra really was very knowledgeable, and extremely patient! When the food came, the steak was cooked PERFECTLY! The steamed vegetables were delicious, and the atmosphere was great! I would definitely recommend eating at Donivan's and if you want a perfect dining experience, ask for Cassandra! read more

Food was tasty, service good, facility clean and welcoming. Dropped them a star because our meals came to the table barely warm and in some cases cold. They were busy and I am always reluctant to send food back. You never know what the rebound will render. The biscuits and gravy could have been way above average had the gravy been hot. The banana bread was also a good offering but barely warm. The eggs with the banana bread were cold. No excuse for serving meals like this. Our friend who accompanied us raved about a dinner and apps she and her daughters had here recently so we may try a dinner in the future but doubt we will ever go out of our way for another breakfast. read more

This restaurant is fantastic. Was staying in Fairmont Hot Springs Hotels at a hotel and was tired of the Hotels overpriced and under-whemling food. So..... I Googl'd **Donivans**. Anaconda is a short drive from I-90. Loved the atmosphere of old dark woods and Irish bar feel. They utilized old mining equipment for decoration and the history of the location was really interesting. Food was amazing. I ate there for Breakfast, and then decided to come here for Dinner later. The waitress reserved seating for our group of 10 easily and was a great personality. Highly recommend visiting if your in the area. read more

Best breakfast and lunch in the state! Hostess Errin is sweet and efficient. The food is delicious and fresh. Pancakes huge & fluffy. Omelets delicate and perfectly stuffed with deliciousness. We had the ChangeHouse & WhistleBlower Omelets. Yesterday we ordered the Anaconda Phillies w/onion rings ( which are the best we ever had) and coconut shrimp. Worst place I ever wasted 2-1/2 hrs on. There were at least 5 tables of people that arrived 1-1 1/2 hrs after us. We were a small party, only three adults and a 5 yr old. The servers should find work elsewhere, the cook outright lied about the time frame and our server even corrected him and still they threatened to call the cops if I didn't pay $50 for a cold burger, three shitty street tacos, two pops and two chicken strips... totally ridiculous!!! This restaurant should be avoided!! The manager, that wasn't even on-site, should be working at Dairy Queen serving ice cream cones... All of they other patrons agreed that this management is horrible and the handling of our table was at best amateur hour... I was embarrassed. So glad we found this place in Anaconda, Montana! I seriously don't understand the backlash this place receives on Yelp. My husband and I visited this place the night before an important game of the soccer World Cup. We visited the place to make sure they had the channel where we could watch it. We went to the bar and had beer and a Margarita. The margarita tasted really good. We were offered food but we wanted to eat in a regular table of booth. So we just moved to the dining area and a nice waitress brought us the menus. It was just two girls working the dining area and the bartender and other girl working the bar area, so the service was a little bit slow. We got "coconut shrimps" as an appetizer, they were good, I still have my doubts about the mustard they give you with them. I got the "Parmesan scallops with linguini" (I know! I'm in Montana, I should get a steak, but I didn't feel like a steak) - my food scallops were really good! I know were are not close to an ocean so I'm not going to get picky and demand big scallops. They were small, but really tasty and cooked perfectly. My husband was the big winner of the night, he got their special "hand cut ribeye" and OMG! It was just amazing! Wonderful steak! I had a bite and I thought I was one of the best ribeyes. It came with baked potatoes and veggies. Our meals came with the option of soup and salad, we went with the soup option when we heard "beef soup" it was amazing!!! I was super full and about to die, when I read in their menu they had a world famous chocolate layer cake! I could not resist to that, I ordered one and a box to go because I knew we were not going to be able to eat it. That cake was the most decadent and sinful thing I've ever had. I live in California, but when I come visit, this is where grandma wants to eat. This time we went, we ordered the Montana Reuben and the Anaconda Cheese Steak, both with soups. She got tomato bisque which was pretty good with chunks of tomato and I got ham and cheese which we didnt particularly enjoy. It was really thick, and didnt quite resemble a soup. As for the sandwiches, both were good. My only suggestion is perhaps having au jus to dip in on the side. It needed a little more moisture in the sandwich. Our server was attentive and I love the ambiance. That evening, I went back with friends to have some cocktails. we had Savannah, Savanah, and Stephanie all serve us. All were great and friendly. 1st timers in Anaconda. Represents small town Montana in a great way as does this restaurant. Spent the night in Butte and decided to stop here for breakfast on our way up to Whitefish. Lil Colonel ordered an veggie omelette. I swung way to the other side of that scale and had what they called a shortstack, which is plenty of sausage, biscuit and eggs smothered in gravy. The shortstack is their "smaller" version of what I guess would be something they'd need to shovel on your plate from the back of pickup and probably would feed of family of ten or so. Service and food was excellent! Stop by Anaconda and Donivan's when you can. read more

My guess is the reviews reflect the bar, not the food. I ordered the spaghetti, which I should never have done. The pasta had been sitting around because it was starting to harden up again. The sauce was a red vegetable meat sauce that had been cooked too long, all the flavor had been cooked out. My wife had tacos which she thought were okay, I tried them, they were pretty average. Friday night at 8:10 pm. We went to the bar and grabbed two beers. We sat down inside the restaurant we were told by the host a gal would be with us in about ten minutes as they were just getting done serving a party of 65 they were part of our group and they waited over an hour and a half for all their food. We waited over twenty minutes and the host came to us and asked if we had gotten our order taken we said we have only seen you. Waited another ten minutes and the server finally showed up. We placed a wing order and our burgers. My husband requested to have everything brought out at the same time. Wings came out 20 minutes later semi cold. Another twenty minutes later our burgers came by that point my husband went to break change to pay for the beers and the wings since it took forever. They had only one table of a party of six as the large party we were with had already left. I tried to use the restroom in between waiting for the burgers after the wings and I over heard the staff having a conversation about cutting hair the door was locked so I walked around to the other side past the bar and I saw seven staff members just sitting there not doing nothing. They have staff they clearly don't wanna work, either intoxicated on substances or both. Just completely ridiculous. I read the reviews and sadly it's way too accurate of the experience we had. We stayed at the Big Sky campground for the night on our way to Glacier. The hosts recommended Donivan's for dinner. Inside is pretty cool, historic photos, dark beautiful woods, train and mining memorabilia and style. Service was excellent, great recommendations. Food came quickly and was tasty. read more

Stayed a week in Anaconda and ate @ Donivan's twice. Both times were outstanding. I had the stroganoff and the next time the trio of tacos. I had to get a doggie bag for the stroganoff and actually had 2 more meals from the leftovers. The service is a little laid back. But the food is worth it. My only regret is that I didn't find this restaurant sooner. If I ever get to come back to Montana, I hope to try something else on the menu. read more
