Despite the two star rating, Donna's isn't terrible and I come here a couple of times a year. That being said, some of the waitstaff is TERRIBLE. There have been consistent times where cups of coffee and water are left dry for almost your entire stay. Staff will walk around the seating area with a pitcher of water or a carafe of coffee and only fill their tables' glasses. My boyfriend asked to substitute a meat choice on a simple omelette, and the waitress flat out told him "No". Not a "Let me go check!" or an "Unfortunately, I've been told there are no substitutions for this selection." I was a waitress not long ago and I assumed most waitstaff had a glimmer of customer service in them here. Not long after that, the same waitress went to another table and it was brought to her attention that an item was not warm enough to their suiting. She says something along the lines of "Oh, I'll have them throw that in the microwave for a bit." Honestly, I am aware that this is a greasy spoon and not fine dining, but I expect a little better. From the looks of the dish (it had something with cheese that was supposed to be melted), it could have easily been thrown on a flat top or remade. Heck, even throwing it in the microwave isn't a terrible idea, but please don't announce that to your customers. I guess Donna's is okay. I have reservations, as I know a long-term member of staff was fired due to an injury on the job - which, by the way, is illegal. I don't expect a bunch of flair and outrageous meals, but please have better training for your staff, and maybe some better lighting in the back area. It makes it a little less dingy. Also, side note, please clean the bathrooms more than a couple of times a day. It always smells like mildewy sponges. read more

These other reviews seem a little harsh. Donna's is your classic diner with your classic diner food in a good location. When it comes to Juneau, we tend to appreciate regulars. I come to Donnas when I'm too tired to cook but need sustinance. I stay for the waitresses spunky attitudes. I would describe the staff as motherly and like to have a good professional time. My favorite is their oldest waitress. She will remind you of your grandmother. I like that she comes around and often teases me about ordering their largest meal and being able to eat it all. Breakfast is served all day, and Donnas is often most bussiest Saturday and Sunday mornings or right after church. Some of the dishes have changed, the chickwich isn't the best they've ever had but their breakfast burgers, hot sandwhiches, and Fettucini alfredo are great. The prices are really reasonable, but lets remember we are in Juneau. I definitly recomend this place. read more

Very good food! Came here our first night in Juneau and the day we left. You do have to seat yourself, which makes it tricky sometimes because if you have a large group but people have split up tables weird it can make it hard to find a spot. We got a spot each time with four people. The service here is very friendly. Both waitresses we had were nice and patient with us. One waitress was super excited when I got birthday cake ice cream because it is her favorite. Food was awesome! I always get burgers and I enjoyed them a lot. Not super greasy or saucy so I kept my hands pretty clean. The fries were perfect! Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Everything seemed fresh and clean. Paying was easy up at the counter but the only problem is the counter is right next to the door so it can get pretty crowded. I would definitely recommend this place and will probably stop by the next time I'm in Juneau. read more

We went here for breakfast with a local buddy - he flies helicopter tours, and the pilots all come here when they're weather-canceled or waiting for it to clear up. Excellent hangover breakfasts and a good way to eat way too much. It does have kind of a truck-stop atmosphere, but there's nothing wrong with that when your ham slice is almost as big as your pancakes, and you suddenly realize there are three pancakes on the plate instead of two. One snafu: it wasn't clear that they had automatically added gratuity for our large group, so we almost left them cash on the table as well - it would have been something like a 30% tip! read more

As other reviewers have stated the portion sizes are big. Too big actually. I ordered the two egg, bacon and pancake breakfast. The eggs were cooked correct, over medium, there were about 4 or 5 bacon strips and three HUGE buttermilk pancakes. I could have easily shared this meal with someone but as I was alone I ate the eggs, a couple of the bacon strips and a quarter of the pancakes. The rest went to waste. That and a cup of coffee was $14.70 I understand prices are higher in Juneau but really??? I did notice a chicken fried steak and eggs is $16.95...they are really proud of their food around here. I live in Anchorage where the prices are high and tourist traps are plenty but not to this extreme. It's breakfast. Keep it simple people. read more

I love that they have waitresses that are friendly and full of spunk, one of them even scolded my hubby for playing on his iphone at the table, when she was taking his order! I love it! Went here to eat with my family. We got there and it was very busy, we found a table and sat down. The waitress did come right over, gave us menus and got our drink order. After a few minutes she came over and took our order. Then, after 25 minutes she came over and dropped a pitcher of water off at the table then left without saying anything to us. After watching 3 other tables who came in after us get their food AND watching our waitress eat her food right at the front countered we left. She never apologized or stop by to say it would be a few more minutes. I was super disappointed, home after 7 years and was excited to eat there again.
