Went here to eat with my family. We got there and it was very busy, we found a table and sat down. The waitress did come right over, gave us menus and got our drink order. After a few minutes she came over and took our order. Then, after 25 minutes she came over and dropped a pitcher of water off at the table then left without saying anything to us. After watching 3 other tables who came in after us get their food AND watching our waitress eat her food right at the front countered we left. She never apologized or stop by to say it would be a few more minutes. I was super disappointed, home after 7 years and was excited to eat there again. Oh Donna's you take me back to younger days, this restaurant is a great family restaurant for gatherings or just breakfast! Whenever my family and I would fly into Juneau (always the early flights), we'd make sure to stop-by and grab something to eat before we head to our hotel and omelettes are always on point also the pancakes, man... those blueberry pancakes. Don't worry that you don't have a lot of time, service here is quick and greasy. Perfect. The wonderful wait staff makes sure your cup of coffee is constantly full of hot coffee. During our trip to Juneau my fiancé and I stopped here because it was conveniently located close to our hotel. The first night we had burgers, the mushroom and the British burger, they were both surprisingly delicious, full of flavor and the meat was perfectly cooked. For $2 extra "upgraded" to onion rings. The next morning we stopped for breakfast and the omelettes were also amazing, ham+bacon and southwest. The staff was friendly and had answers for a couple location of the trails we couldn't find. We both got the same thing... hamburger steak, 2 eggs, hashbrowns, toast and it was $14! ok so they say things are expensive because of everything is shipped in to Juneau. Then why is the halibut burger $17 on special? It is halibut! They have it there in Juneau in the water! ok my rant is over. Cooked well, service was ok but not great by any means. It appear that I may offend the locals but as a form of helping the greater good of humanity, I feel it is my duty to at least inform the non-locals to avoid this homely diner. It's old, it looks old, and worst of all, the food tastes like... something that I would cook; ie edible, sometimes decent, but nothing I would want to charge people for. Thus for those locals who are content to eat subpar food, go for it, but for those who are in Juneau for a vacation looking for that good-vacation type meal, please avoid this place. Wanna go to that place where you feel like family? Where you are automatically comfortable? This is it! Donna's! We were visiting our grandson in Juneau and he took us to Donna's - twice! And it was wonderful both times. Great portions, delicious portions, kind servers and staff, decent prices for a tourist town, locals so you feel like you're sitting someplace real. Donna's is off the main track so you feel like you are getting a reprieve from the hustle of downtown Juneau. On our second visit, we had bowed our heads to pray before eating and upon raising our heads we noticed our lovely waitress had stopped in her tracks while we prayed and bowed her head. I don't know if she prayed with us but I do know she was respectful and kind as we prayed. How refreshing! My Grandson, who is 5, made her family right then. From what I have found, Donna's is one of the few places for breakfast that is not located downtown. We've been here twice for breakfast and I would describe the food as consistent, but not sensational. My cheese and mushroom omelet was filling, but they use canned mushrooms, so this definitely affects the taste (in a not so good way for me). The next time we went back I tried the blueberry pancakes. These were pretty good and were filled with lots of big juicy blueberries. My husband had the corned beef hash (canned) and also tried the hamburger patty breakfast. Donna's is usually bustling with activity & customers, but the servers tend to be pretty good at their jobs and keep the coffee cups full. I think the slowdown comes from the kitchen, and minor mistakes like the wrong kind of toast seem to be typical. Each time we've been there, the bill comes out to be just under $30 (with tip), and that just seems to be a little high. I'd go back, but not regularly. read more

Truly, I'm just a local. I've tried all the who-ah's of Juneau and I honestly love this one. Yes, people have bad experiences, it happens with every restaurant. Then they slap it with a bad review. I have been here many times, and had 1 bad experience. Which I think is healthy, but of all other times, they were good. Anyways, to the review! The portions are great, there are always leftovers. My mother and I frequent that place and have become regulars, where we split the johnny's burger. A fantastic burger that has enough for two women. (Saying women, specifically, men will need their own plate, haha) They have a bottomless, good coffee for a diner and their atmosphere is homely and cozy. An added plus, they don't attract any rowdy crowds. The waitress's have spunk and are comfortable in their environment, they are also adaptable to orders and have no problem with half-orders. I like whipped cream with my fries- no extra charge, and it didn't throw them off. We all have bad experiences. This happens. But Donna's over-all is a place of a good experince. To anyone claiming expensive prices- I'm sorry to make you remember, you're in Juneau. Everything is pricey. So please! Try Donna's. It's a cozy place to share a cup of coffee and laugh with your family and friends. (Plus, I think they have the best fries.) read more

They're alright. Prices have gone up over the years and the food and service are less consistent than they have been historically. Sometimes everything is hot, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The waitress I had was great at her job, asking if I needed anything all throughout my meal. I stumbled across this restaurant waiting for my flight at the local airport- just a hop, skip, or jump away. I walked there, had a delightful meal, and made it back to the airport in time. This is a bad review but I'm still giving 4 stars because I love the restaurant and this is a rare occurrence. If you're going to ask smaller groups not to sit at larger tables on busy days then you should have the small tables cleaned off quickly. Asking people to move is not a big deal but annoying enough to leave. The waitress wasn't rude about it and it really did make sense to sit at a smaller table but once getting young kids adjusted and settled, getting up and moving is super annoying. I won't be returning. I give it the establishment two stars because the food can sustain life, if nothing else is available. Food is your typical greasy spoon food which was only marginal in quality and flavor. I am neither an experienced food critic, nor of an "uppity fine" pallet, but I do know what I like and what I don't. I have had better at McDonalds. The menu offered Chicken Fried Steak with 'eggs any style,' which is my basic meal used to compare greasy spoon type restaurants. I knew where my rating was heading when I was told that we don't do 'sunny side up' here. I asked for sour dough toast and was informed that they charge $0.75 more for sour dough over wheat or white. The service was okay, but not spectacular enough to override all the negatives to this place. When a place makes me NOT want a second cup of coffee and all my thoughts are on how fast can they get the check... Its not worth the effort to sit down. I won't be back. read more

This was a lack luster experience for breakfast. As a single person I am used to being a bit ignored but this was on the really ignored side. The waitress mumbled something as she took my order that I never did figure out what she said. You could tell she did not like her job in the least. The steak and gravy was edible. The hash browns were gross. I asked for well done and I got hash browns that I am pretty sure were tossed back on the grill after cooking for a crystalized looking brown color. Rubbery from the first bite. Food was served very quickly after I ordered but it was kind of an insult to get the plate and the check at the same time. Who does that? I am a local and I can say this place has really gone downhill in the last year. And yes it is expensive but all restaurants are expensive in Juneau. I'm giving two stars instead of one because the chicken fried steak was at least edible. read more
