My hubs and I came here for date night. Problem one: the hostess sat us at a table covered with rice. Then, it took over 20 minutes for anyone to come to our table. After over an hour of waiting for food, another couple came in and was seated at the table next to us. Within minutes, they were brought their appetizers. We were still sitting there with no food and without our waiter checking on us other than 1 time. Finally, after an hour and a half, we have food. Our food was extremely over cooked, cold steaks, cold balsamic veggies, and over cooked, cold shrimp. We then told one of the staff that we weren't paying for the terrible, cold, over cooked food so they said they would get the manager. After waiting another 10 minutes, the manager came out. He didn't apologize or seem to care at all. His only question "did you get all your food?" They will never get my business again. read more

Ordered prime rib flat bread as an Appetizer came out with way to much cheese red onions raw buried in the cheese no caramelization maybe 6 pieces of prime rib Note: had this appetizer the past 5 times and this time wash the worst ever (You normally have somebody making the flat breads,didn't have this the past 2-times) Ordered the Blueberry Ale 1/2 bone Chicken ( bartender described it as being Smoked with a blueberry ale flavor ) It normally comes with brussels sprouts keep in mind the restaurant was not busy one other table behind me and a small birthday celebration in a separate room Off to the east. Chicken entrée, very small chicken, barely bigger than a Cornish hen, came out took a bite of the chicken I told the bartender that the chicken didn't have a smoky flavor. He said sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't., Brussels sprouts were cut in half charred heavily, but raw in the Center could not eat them. They were burnt and raw. Ask the bartender to replace them with broccolini I finished the chicken bartender apologized for the brussels sprouts. Broccolini came out 10 minutes later. The broccolini came on a rectangular side dish broccolini was thrown directly on the broiler, and the broccoli ends were burnt. The stems were raw. I did not complain, but it was the worst ever I could not eat it. I just pushed it aside and asked for the bill the bill was 71.23 I left in complete disappointment. We finally got to try Donovan's last weekend as a birthday celebration. It was only ok. First, let me start by saying the service was excellent. The ambiance is nice, but basically the same as it was when it was Boca. My husband had the old fashioned, and I had the split personality. Both drinks were very good. We started by sharing the beet salad, which ended up being the best food we had all night. It was delicious. I ordered the prime rib and my husband got a New York strip. We ordered shaved Brussels and au gratin potatoes. The steaks were ok. My husband's was a bit over cooked but not enough to complain about. My prime rib was right. However, the steaks just were not up to par with other high end steak houses. The sides were not good. Sides are a La carte and were $10 & $14 each on top of $40 steaks. We did not complain because we were trying to enjoy our evening. We ended with Juniors chocolate cake. The restaurant did nothing special to recognize the birthday, which was info we included in our reservation and shared with our server. We thought maybe a cupcake or something. Again desert was fine but not amazing. For the amount of money we spent we could have gone to Bern's or Charley's and had better food. Honestly, I think Jessie's or Outback steaks are better for almost half the cost and include sides. The night after we dined at Donovan's my husband received a call from the restaurant asking us how our experience was, which impressed us both. He was honest about our experience, but there has been no more follow up. This place has potential, and I might go back for hour happy hour, but I will probably never dine there again. read more

I must admit I was extremely disappointed when visited for dinner. I ordered The Big Guava cocktail to start. For the most part it was ok, however it was very much on the sour side. The balance of ingredients were off. My first appetizer and highly anticipated was the crab dip after seeing great reviews on social media. After the first bite of the bread, I could tell that it was not fresh. It may had been reheated a few times due to its texture. The waitress was happy to bring me another side of bread and even admitted that it was not fresh. Now I can enjoy my crab dip, well not really as it was extremely salty. Next appetizer, the corn fritters were delicious. For dessert I ordered a slice of chocolate cake and an old fashion. Be aware the serving size for the chocolate cake is about 4 to 6 persons. Besides the unnecessary size, it taste good. The old fashion was nothing special. Its advertised as being smoked and having apple cider, but there were no indication of any. I would revisit sometime in the near future and try the steak and sides, but for this visit, it was just OK! read more

This was my first time visiting the restaurant. My server was new and not familiar with the menu. Ordered steak and not equipped with proper utensils. Had to cut with a butter knife. Food was very good and compliments to the cooks. Over heard server complaining about working there and spent excessive time talking at another table about none relative business. Went with a close friend and they ordered a Vodka and Cranberry juice and after one drink was told they were out of cranberry juice... it was 6:30pm! how do you run out of cranberry juice?? The wife and I heard about this restaurant from a friend. When we arrived, we were greeted by our server Caitlin and escorted to our table. She made us feel right at home. My drink of choice is Old Fashion. They know how to make them right. My wife had a Mai-Tai that was amazingly tasty. The steak selection was great. Some day I'll work up to the Tomahawk. (Which Looks like it could feed a family of 4). The Prime Rib was excellent along with the creamed spinach and onion rings, I was set. Well worth the money. Will be back again. read more

We have been to Donovan's over 20 times and had great times there always. Unfortunately we went there this week and our experience was terrible. We sat at the bar and a guy we thought was a bartender gave us menus and water and never came back because he was too busy showing customers pictures on his phone. The poor lone bartender that was working there had a table to wait on on top of working the bar. At one point she spent about 15 minutes making some kind of coffee for her other table and no bartender was at the bar. I saw another gentleman who was seated at a table get up and start looking for a server because they were waiting for so long. the lady bartender apologized and we told her it wasn't her fault and that they should be better staffed. asked the host if we could talk to the manager and he said "he's the owner too" but didn't get him and when I explained what had happened, he asked " did you get water?" obviously not under our frustration. finally offered us a table but it was too little too late. Food and service are pretty good. Prices are high like fine dining restaurant but this place is noisy and often overcrowded.

First time visitor on 3/12/22, check #58. Ordered a filet and a NY strip, with corn and potatoes as sharable sides. The filet was ordered with cabernet reduction add on sauce. NY strip was ordered with sautéed baby bellas as an add-on. Once the food was dropped off, server Ryan Y. did not return to the table a single time until it was time for the check. The filet was delivered with the wrong sauce containing peppercorn, and this was not realized until the sauce had been dumped on the filet. This person hates pepper, but we were not able to bring it to the server's attention since he never returned during the meal. We did mention it when he asked if we were ready for check, he apologized, and then brought us the bill with the sauce still on the check. When he came to pick up our card, I had to point out that the sauce should be removed from the bill, which only then did he agree to do. I also noticed the $5 baby bellas were being charged $10. When I mentioned this, he said there is a side and an add-on, and he thought I wanted the side. It is literally worded the exact same in two places on the menu, with two different prices. What he should have done was ask "Did you want that as a side or as an add-on?" Given that we had already ordered two sides, and I "added on" after ordering my steak, given him the temperature, and just responded to his question about wanting a steak sauce with "No, but I would like to add the sautéed baby bellas", I think my intent was obvious. Poorly written menu and poorly trained server. Returned with final bill with the wrong sauce removed but no adjustment on the sautéed baby bellas. We had to make the $5 adjustment on his tip to make it right. Unlikely to make a return trip as, while the sides were tasty, the steaks were comparable to Outback, so save your money and just go there. We had contemplated sharing the Tomahawk steak, but we are glad we did not given the average results of the ones we did order. The menu should also mention that the steaks come with peppers and onions, giving people who do not like those items a chance to have them omitted from their order. read more
