Don's has such tasty breakfast! I had a chicken fried steak breakfast and everything was hot and fresh. My partner had Don's big omelette, also delicious, but be warned, it's very spinach forward! We added a single pancake to share, which we also enjoyed. Service was great, from the hostess at the door to our server at the table. The only thing that wasn't the greatest was the wait time. We waited 1h 20m for a party of two. Although, it was a busy Sunday on a summer weekend. Food was definitely delicious and worth the wait. I'll be back, for sure. read more

The food is really good.However, I have a problem when my check was rung up.I added the tip as usual after they brought me the bill.And they charged my card over eighty dollars because they doubled it. I gave them seven days to correct it.And they did not.So I had to call my bank and have one of the charges reversed.And that was a charge without the tip I did tip my server. Found this place by accident on Yelp and the reviews were awesome. We decided on Sunday morning to try it. Greeted right away and sat inside with a lovely waitress. She was attentive and professional and hubs ordered a meat lovers omelette with country fried potatoes and I had eggs, crispy bacon and a waffle with fresh fruit. I told her the cook could surprise me on fruit selection. In a short time we had the most delicious meal in front of us. Waitress was very nice and attentive not overly so. The cook did surprise me with fresh banana and blueberries on the Belgian. Fantastic food, service outstanding. I am picky but couldn't find anything wrong even if I tried. This quaint breakfast place gets my vote of EXCELLENT! The staff was working constantly! Please go and see for yourself but know that I will be jealous because I live too far away to go as often as I would like. read more

Recently moved to the area and was excited to see what the hype was about here and honestly was surprised to find out it's just basic diner food. The gravy tasted like flour, biscuits were hard. The chicken fried steak..well it was barely there (pictured). It was all just boring and bland when it came to the taste and overpriced. Yes the portions are huge but rather have quality over quantity. Service was average. The location (other than the lack of parking) is great so close to the beach and the atmosphere is homey and fun but we will not be back. read more

This place was found by my girlfriend, who said it was close to where we wanted to be for our weekend. We got there and saw there were already people waiting to be seated. Its a small parking lot, so I advise you just to find parking on the street, even if its across the other side of PCH. The seating is mostly outdoors and covered, with plenty of heaters to keep you warm during the winter mornings. I chose to let things run on the chicken fried steak and eggs, with home fries and I regretted the latter because they just didn't taste like the ones I'm accustomed to. Other than that, the star of the dish was good, as were my eggs. One thing I started to see a pattern of, we were given just one piece of toast split in half. Normally we get two pieces, and this wasn't the only time we witnessed this. We shared the pecan waffle which I then ate the next day. It was very good. My girlfriend went the country stuffed hash brown with an egg over easy on top. Needless to say, that was the moment I regretted my home fries decision. We recommend this place to anyone heading down to SD county for the weekend, just get there before the rush. We had brunch here on my last day in San Diego. We also sat outside. My buddy ordered the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. It looked really good! I ordered the Grilled Pork Chops & Eggs. It comes served with homemade hash browns and choice of toast, biscuit or biscuit and gravy. I believe that I ordered a pancake on the side rather than the choice of. Food is really good here! Pork chops smelled delicious and tasted the same. They were seasoned well and not burned or over cooked. Our waitress was friendly and attentive to our needs as well. This was another good choice for my last day in the San Diego area. If I lived in the area, I would dine here more frequently. I feel that the prices are reasonable and match the food quality.
