Everyone around this area raves about Don's and to be honest I'm not entirely sure why. I've been here a few times and although it's fun that they have a mimosa flight this feels on par with Denny's. Nothing here is mind blowing but nothing is bad either. You come to Don's for a small town breakfast restaurant feel. I've had their French toast, their stuffed hash browns, and their country Benedict. All were okay. The best part is the vibe when you're with food friends and wanting a boozy brunch without the flair. The wait time tends to be 20-35 minutes so make sure to check in online to join the waitlist on there. Good breakfast spot in Oceanside. Parking lot only has 6 spots so we found street parking. Ordered the waffle combo and chorizo scramble (subbed beans for hash browns). We also ordered a Bloody Mary and Mexican coffee, which was a shot of tequila in a coffee with espresso liqueur and some whipped cream. Don's Country Kitchen is worth the stop. Service is prompt and attentive which is always a plus. Food was a solid 4/5. I ordered the shrimp omelette and my wife got the chicken fried steak. Gravy on the fried steak could go on anything, it is delish. The shrimp omelette is okay, but I think if the shrimp inside the omelette was cooked with some flavor it would really add to the experience. I highly recommend the caramel macchiato. That coffee is superb. We had outdoor seating, which was warmed by heaters and was a nice atmosphere. One thing that was a negative was the parking. Definitely need more spots to park. read more

Came from out of town and saw a lot of good reviews and they didn't disappoint. I had Bea's stuffed hashbrowns. It was amazing. The hollandaise sauce is super tasty! My lady got the chorizo scramble. She loved it. We also split a side of the cinnamon swirl French toast. My daughter got the banana pancake combo. The banana was cooked inside the pancake. It too was amazing. The scrambled eggs are good; get the omelet instead. The home fries are cooked like an entree unlike many restaurants where they are a hurried dish. The service and facility are excellent. You sit anywhere that's open inside or outside. They have heaters outside and it's covered. If you drive here on street parking is your best bet, small lot. The only so so part is coffee. read more

I never am able to be apart of the clean plate club but the food was so good and they offered HALF PORTIONS of some dishes; in my case I had 1/2 Florentine eggs Benedict. The food was great but the service was even better. We came here around 12:30PM on a Monday afternoon so thankfully we didn't have to wait with the crowds and were seated right away by a lovely lovely staff member who offered us both indoor and outdoor with multiple different tables to pick from. Then Krista came over as our server. She is SO kind, SO funny, and SO good at her job. We even eavesdropped on other guests ordering and she had literally every answer with a smile on her face as well as being charming. Comforting brunch! I was drawn in by their specialty, stuffed hashbrowns. Excited to try it! It is actually a hashbrown sandwich. A top and bottom crispy hashbrown layer sandwiched with a filling of sausage gravy, bacon, and cheese. My complaint would be that the filling in the hashbrown was not piping hot. The cheese wasn't melted. I expected it to be melted and gooey steamy as I fork into it. That would have made a huge difference. Everything else in the order was decently good. Another great is that the biscuits and gravy was made very well. Homemade and warm plenty of sausage gravy drowning the biscuit! Definitely try biscuits and gravy and stuffed hashbrowns. The staff here are very friends and enjoy the work they do. Lots of locals and regulars. Sometimes, too much socializing that they get behind PM keep tabs on tabs that need to be checked on. We felt a bit not attended to and had to flag other servers down I do like that you can pay digitally from a QR code on the receipt. Very quick and easy. Contactless. This place is good, although my husband and I came here early (when there wasn't that many people) and the service was kinda slow. Also while the food was good, it was really expensive for what we considered diner food. I guess this is how inflation is? That said, we really enjoyed what we had. The scramble was really delicious and so was our pancakes. The place was clean and it looked like a lot of regulars like to come here. The decor is country as the name would indicate. The food is absolutely amazing. Each times I tried to eat something new but came back to the California omelette 3 times. I also had the English muffin sandwich , blueberry pancakes and the stuffed hash browns. The potatoes ordered extra crispy are a winner. The also offer a pretty good homemade salsa The coffee has been consistently great. Hot with cream and often refilled. The service is often friendly and engaging. Came here to have brunch with my friend, Luz. Saw some of the reviews about the biscuit and gravy and once I got it, and it was a 4 out of 10 for me. Don't me wrong, I love the gravy but the biscuit wasn't as I thought a biscuit would be. It's like a soft dinner rolls, not that fluffy to be honest. And yes, I got the gravy on the side because I like to dip the biscuit but it was just not it for me. I still ate it though, don't want to waste food. Would I get it again? Nah, just the gravy for me. Strawberries waffle was good, fresh strawberries, waffles was crispy and not as thick. Overall, the services was great, parking in the lot was a bit hard since it's small so we found some street parking. Do go on the website and join their waitlist, they do get busy so get your party in a queue. I believe on the website that all parties must be present in order to seat. It's a great brunch place, but I wouldn't order the biscuit and gravy, but that's just me. Next visit, I have to get the Kielbasa sausage and eggs, and flights of mimosas. I didn't get those during this visit since I was heading over to a Foodieland event, and didn't want to eat something full. We have always been a big fan of Don's Country Kitchen in Carlsbad so now it was time to try the Oceanside location. A small little breakfast and lunch spot right on Pacific Highway, Don's has many of the same dishes as a Carlsbad location. The Biscuits & Gravy are a huge hit. The homemade Pork Sausage Gravy is excellent and the Buttermilk biscuits come out moist and firm. Everything here is very good. The Kielbasa Sausage and Eggs with Hash Browns was delicious (even thought the Sausage was a bit overcooked for my liking). The Corned Beef Hash and Eggs were also great and the service is friendly. Don's County Kitchen has great food and a really nice vibe but be prepared to wait. This is not the kind of place to grab a quick meal before you take on the day. The kitchen is very small and they can only get out food a few plates at a time. We waited 20 minutes for a table for two, which isn't bad. However it took one solid hour from the time we sat down to the time we actually received our food. It also took 15 minutes to get coffee and water once we ordered it. Some servers are faster than others but even so, the kitchen is so tiny that it will take a while. With that in mind, I would recommend you give Don's a visit the next time you're in the neighborhood. read more

Never been until this past Sunday. Had some friends visiting from out of town and we needed to meet in the middle. So we met at Dons. Place is very busy on Sundays so I got in line on the website. (Highly recommended btw.) We were seated about 10 minutes past the promised time. Considering the 20 people waiting outside...good job Don. Ordered bacon and eggs. Everything came out hot and fresh. We had fast service with fresh hot food and the prices were a step down from most places. I'll be back when I go up to Oceanside. read more

Well not a good time at breakfast today. Sat for 45 min before my actual breakfast came but during the wait the couple that was sat behind me had a dog well not once but twice the dog jumped on my leg (rude) the first time I asked them to please get their dog the second time ugh I'm pissed I tell my waitress and she wants to tell me oh sorry they're regulars. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We waited far too long just to be seated, and once we were, the service was extremely slow (45 minutes to get our food) and inattentive. It felt like we were forgotten more than once, and getting basic things like water refills or even placing our order took forever. We asked for an OJ refill, the waitres rudely stated no free refills, I'll have to charge you. Considering we had waited so long for everything, you would think it would be on the house. The staff didn't seem particularly friendly or apologetic about the delays, which made it worse. Parking is a joke, only about 5 spots including handicap, we had to park a few blocks away and walk. The food was not worth the hassle. Waitress asked if we wanted ranch for our chicken tenders and fries, we said yes just to have in case someone wanted it. Only realized after the fact that we were charged .25 for it. This price is insignificant, she should have told us that there would be a charge for ranch. Not worth the wait or the frustration. Quant little breakfast joint located on coast highway. They have a covered, dog friendly, outdoor patio. We were sat immediately inside. Our waitress came right away and took our order. It's definitely a comfort food place so don't go there if you're on a diet or looking for a light meal! I got the avocado Benedict(I wish they had a salmon one) and I also got the mimosa flight! My boyfriend got the beef hash brown wrap. My Benedict was okay, it was pretty plain but it's what I asked for. My boyfriend loved his meal but couldn't finish it all as the portion was huge!
