I am so glad that this small business is still thriving during covid. There is a 5 customer at a time maximum due to the small size and masks are enforced. I got there around 9 on a Saturday and there was already a line out the door for delicious donuts! Hands down, these are some of my favorite no-frills donuts around. Hubby and I drag the kids around to try all the donut places, so I feel fairly confident in saying these are delicious. The donuts are mostly old-fashioned style, but there are a couple raised donuts and you can also get donuts filled. My favorite is the blueberry donut but we also really enjoyed the pumpkin and chocolate donuts. Reasonably priced and if you get there early, the donuts may be hot! We don't live in Goose Creek so we don't get here too often but we stop in for donuts and bagels every time we're near by! Donuts were NOT good. It tasted like we got the left over donuts from the night before, they were so stale and flavorless- even the icing was rock hard. The strawberry cronuts are a good idea just not executed well, the pastry is very flat and not light and flaky like you'd expect it to be. The filling needs more flavor, but at least the strawberries are fresh. Maybe I went on an off day. Maybe you should save your money and try somewhere else. read more

We took a break from our little donut shop because the last visit wasn't up to par. It has been months since we have had donuts due to COVID so we decided to try our place again and we are SO glad we did. They are back to the quality and taste that we are used to. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because the variety was lacking. Usually this time of year brings about my favorite flavors - pumpkin and apple cider. Unfortunately they were nowhere to be found. The cake donuts are the stars here and they didn't even have their normal chocolate or blueberry. Although we love many of the others such as the sour cream and plain glazed, I really was just craving those cake donuts. I hope next time I will be in donut heaven. Other than that this little place is still a great and friendly shop. The service is always 100% and now that the quality is back to normal we will be coming back on a regular basis. read more

Thanks to the Yelp Local post about donuts I found myself making an early morning trip to Donut Connection for a half a dozen donuts. Had I read through more of the reviews before going, I probably would have let the dry comment in multiple reviews turn the car around to head downtown to Glazed Gourmet doughnuts instead. But I had not, so Donut Connection it was. The variety seemed sparse to me with only around 12-15 to choice from. The young girl working was nice enough and I picked out 6 and was on my way. I believe the total was $5.05 or $6.05. Very reasonable. I cut the donuts up to share and I had part of the caramel apple, raspberry, and blueberry cake donuts. I did not enjoy or understand the peanuts on top of the caramel apple selection. I also like many others found the raspberry donut to be dry. When I got a bite with no filling it was oh so dry. (Which made me think maybe it wasn't made fresh that morning.) So the reason I didn't go lower than 3 stars is because my friends really enjoyed them, and the price was very reasonable. I might not return for myself but if it's someone's Birthday or another special occasion I could see myself buying here again. read more

How have I never reviewed Donut Connection!?! Compared to KK and DD, Donut Connection's donuts are superior in taste. They're also much larger with comparable pricing! I tried them years ago and have preferred them since. My daughter was mentioning getting donuts for her wedding which made me crave them. I decided to go by and get some to take to my family, who hadn't had the pleasure of trying yet. While checking out their website last night, I saw ketonuts. I was stoked I'd be able to enjoy Donut Connection with my family without being knocked out of ketosis. I bought a dozen donuts and one ketonut. Today's ketonut flavor was maple and when asked if I wanted sugar free frosting, I of course could not refuse! For the dozen I picked sour cream, Boston cream, samoa, apple cinnamon, lemon filled, blueberry filled, maple glazed, pink glazed, chocolate glazed, and fruity pebble. My ketonut was DELICIOUS!! Why go to downtown Charleston for gourmet donuts when there's one right around the corner? Donut Connections is one of the best donut shops in the South, and I'm surprised they haven't been featured by Food Insider yet. They offer super delicious items like Fruity Pebbles, Creme Brulee, and M&Ms (There's more, but those are the ones that I remembered). And my mom and I absolutely love their Maple Bacon! --- It's not too bacony and doesn't have that weird texture like other Maple Bacon donuts that I've tried in DC. And the owner was too kind. One time I went in there and found out they ran out of the Creme Brulee. The owner saw how disappointed I looked, so he made me one on the spot! That totally brightened up my day. But it sucks that they close at 2 PM; they normally run out of their creative donuts by 11 AM, and all that's left are the normal ones that one can find at Dunkin' Donuts. Picked up two dozen donuts to ruin my co-workers new year diets, or at least make them stronger if they avoid the temptation. Anyway, I grab a variety of donuts, strawberry and chocolate sprinkles, maple bacon, sour cream, and red velvet. Loved the red velvet (I grabbed another for late afternoon snack). My favorite was the maple bacon, although the underlying donut was a little dry. Who doesn't love bacon, and on a donut? My trick for dry or day old donuts...10 seconds in the microwave equals a nearly fresh donut! Second favorite was the sour cream, moist throughout and very tasty. Eventually several co-workers fell to temptation and commented the Donut Connection donuts were good. It is refreshing to have a locally owned donut shop close by instead of one of the big chains. These donuts are delicious and have some unique flavors but so be advised that they are all more of a cake donut. If you are looking for a light and fluffy French crueller for example you will not find it here. The best donut I have ever had was their lemon glazed old fashioned sour cream donut. I visited here about a year ago and honestly was not impressed at all. The employee was rude and the donut wasn't good. I decided to try it again today. They were having a special and I got 12 donuts to try for just over $6. I've had tried two of them (double chocolate cake donut and a chocolate glazed with sprinkles). I think the cake donuts far surpass the yeast donuts. I'm not really a fan of the yeast donuts... something (I can't quite put my finger on what) tastes a little odd. The cake donuts are quite good though. The donuts are cute and they had had about 15 flavors to choose from. My little girl thinks the sprinkled donut is the best thing in the world. There's definitely been a lot of improvement since my last visit here. The lady working the counter was wonderful- super friendly and helpful. I would return just for the service. I placed a huge order, about $350, wanting to support local business and mistakenly used the wrong credit card. They said they cannot cancel/refund and would have to give me store credit. This is ridiculous!! I had the intended card to pay with in hand but they said they would have to give me store credit and then pay with the correct cc. I am not going to have a store credit of over $300 for a donut place. Chris and the other owner DO NOT know how the treat customers. They told me conflicting messages!! They need to get their act together. All my conversations have been with Chris and then all of a sudden I get a phone call from this other person, supposedly she's the co-owner. The female co-owner kept on trying to explain over phone why she can't refund me or pay me cash, and hardly let me get a word in......the longer the explanation the bigger the lie. Keep in mind that I've been in communication since day 1 and throughout about this and everything was doable according to Chris. Then almost a week later they drop the bomb on me as I'm driving to the store to close everything out basically telling me it's my problem. She even accused me of call her names which is untrue. Me and my family I've been going to donut connection for at least a decade, with the new management took over I definitely saw a big change in the business but we support local businesses so we still go there. The past week I have been to that place three days in a row and they've been closed the fourth time I saw somebody inside working and I wanted to bring some donuts for my coworkers and asked politely if I could possibly get a two dozen donuts The so-called owner told me that they don't open till 8 am I was there at 7:30 AM, The owner politely replied to me saying " I work alone if you can't understand that don't F'ing come back". I was excited to try this place as I was looking for a unique donut place in the Charleston area. Sadly Donut Connection did not meet my expectations. They do have some OK filled Donuts but they miss the mark on execution. Out of all the Donuts I tried the Banana Pudding was the best. I got several of the cake style donuts and all of them were oddly chewy. A bite was all I could stand and in the trash they went. The service was OK and the staff was nice and helpful.
